Jeep quality needs to improve!
Some people will laugh at the title of this video because it’s the understatement of the decade. Jeep has been known for quality issues for quite a while and I feel like it’s way past time Jeep does something about it. I’m a huge fan of Jeep. I’m not trying to be a hater. But it’s obvious someone in the upper ranks is either not doing their job or works within a culture that doesn’t allow them to do their job.
Bottom line: Jeep, it’s time to do better.

Parts Supply Issues

After looking back at my maintenance and repair records recently, I saw a pattern with the repairs. It seems like all of my repair issues have been due to parts issue, not design of engineering issues. I’m no expert in this field but it seems like Jeep needs to knuckle down on suppliers to provide better parts from the beginning rather than having to make all of these repairs after delivery.

    I’m not here to bash Jeep or Stellantis, but unfortunately this is spot on. I recently test drove a Dodge Hornet R/T (the PHEV) for a few days. I liked the car more than I thought I would. However, after the car sat overnight unplugged, I came out the next day and upon startup was greeted by the whole Christmas tree of dash lights. Tested the 12 volt battery and it was way low. I tried to jump the car with my jump pack, but it wasn’t having it. A brand new car with 90 miles on the clock had to be towed back to the dealership. I’m going to have a video about it on my channel hopefully soon.

    The hitch weight and carrying capacity is already small and a common complaint and limiting factor. The significant increase in curb weight (and loss of space) due to the battery for the electric system is going to make it useless as a truck. Many owners don’t realize that added weight of mods in bigger wheels and tires, rock rails, bumpers etc take away from both capacities.

    • @Wrangler4XEFans
      @Wrangler4XEFans 5 дней назад

      @@M511Tactical I think all of that is why it’s been delayed. I don’t believe the Wrangler 4XE set up can’t be pushed over to Gladiator as it sits. I think there are issues they have to overcome to make the Gladiator 4XE marketable as a truck and not a hybrid El Camino.

    Have a 2014 JKUR and have been having the thought of getting a new Jeep mainly because I have eight speed transmission envy. I am mainly interested in a Gladiator because I do more towing and camping now days. My 2014 JKUR has been far from perfect. The first oil cooler went out about forty thousand miles. Replaced with a Dorman which then failed ten thousand miles later. I then went back to the OEM version. Rocker arm failure at sixty thousand miles, luckily I caught it before much damage to the cam. Radiator failure at sixty-five thousand miles along with a clogged heater core. Replaced the radiator with OEM along with an extensive flush. Lots of weird debris found while doing the flush. During the life of my Jeep, on hot days, when towing a 1300 lb. teardrop it has had overheating issues which persist to this day. The HVAC control module and HVAC blend door are now out. These same issues occur in the new production Pentastar based Jeeps ten years after I bought my Jeep. Today I am doing ball joints (not unexpected as this is a wear item). Since I went out of warranty in 2017, I have lived the Jeep motto " Making mechanics out of drivers sine 1941". I can not imagine buying something as complicated as a 4XE from the Stellantis ownership group, as most of my problems occurred right outside of warranty. I can not imagine taking a 4XE off road in remote areas. I am not sure my mechanical skills would be up to the task. Currently in my area, dealers are offering over twenty thousand off MSRP on 4XE and they are not moving. I can not imagine what that does for residual value for people who purchased a couple of years ago. Jeep just screws their customer base in so many ways. No more Jeeps for me until there is a new owner group who invests in engineering and quality control! For now I will hold onto my 2014 and excise the demons as they appear.

    Great video, my wife had a 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe that was riddled with issues, got stranded 2 times and the Jeep was also stuck at the dealer for countless recalls and fixes and failed diagnoses and basic quality issues like bad ball joints etc. It was a nightmare and we lost a lot of money on that trading it in for something that we felt could be reliable. We do also have a 2023 Wrangler 4xe that we got not too long after the Cherokee back when we initially were enjoying it, but honestly its been very good to us so far as we have taken it offroad many times across the country and really only 1 minor issue after thousands of miles so either we are lucky or they are getting better at stomping out problem areas and refining the Jeeps over the years. I do think it would make for a good video if you could try and take a look at the number of recalls and the overall ratings for the Wrangler 4xe by years up to 2024 and see if it seems like Jeep is in fact getting better at resolving these issues or if its consistent in the number of complaints and what not. Overall though I agree with you, Jeep does need to step up on reliability across the brand, switching to a new powertrain is always going to be risky and result in issues without a doubt and thats why being a early adopter is very risky, but I do think a lot of this in inexcusable and if Jeep doesn't fix this soon, this could really kill the brand for a lot of die hard Jeepers and potential future customers; not sure at the moment, but depending on how the 4xe plays out this may be our last Jeep; we love it but we got the Jeep to be adventurous and get out in nature and if we cant trust it to get us back home safely or if its constantly at the dealer and not with us then its not really serving its purpose and theres lots of competition out there now.

  • @Eric-qq7zw

    My biggest issue was when my 4xe was down for repeated oil leaks that finally was diagnosed the right way and was a gasket assembly issue from the factory. It was down for 2 months overall last summer. Since then 25k miles later it has been good. My Battery SOH is declining and I believe before the end of the winter will need to be replaced.Hopefully Samsung and Jeep addressed this in the newer models. Battery replacement should be a 2% decline YOY. Not 6-7%. I think a lot of the coolant motor issues are related to not properly bleeding the system and running them with low/ none of the coolant through them and burned them up. I check my levels monthly and when I first got it the system was down on fluid and had to be filled back up. Then the engine work required the coolant system to be pulled. They said that they bled the system but a day later it was dry. People assume that it’s taken care of and then it fails because they didn’t check the coolant system reservoir. Or check the fuses or replace the stock 12v battery.

    So I work for a government fleet and by a large margin the Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler, Stellantis products we service are all junk. Rocker arms fail, oil filter housings leak, oil pumps leak, they can't handle any abuse. The dealers all know what the issues are but they don't want to ever admit it because they want you to come back and buy another POS. Jeep as a brand died in 2006 when the old school cheap 4.0 liter Jeep wranglers got replaced with the soccer mom/Chili's Day manager 4 door Wrangler rolled onto the scene. The 3.8 liter was bad but the 3.6 is worse. The dealers are all struggling right now with a product that's marked at Lexus prices but have FIAT build quality. They are way to expensive and definitely not built for the average working man anymore, and it sucks that an American brand has gone downhill to such a degree that the original Jeep people from 20+ years ago will not buy the new ones.

      the 3.6 has been put into millions of vehicles over the last 15 years...the failure rate is extremely low...if you change the oil and don't take it to red-line all the time it can last 500k miles or more, you just hear about the sensationalized failure stories....the 3.8 is a rock solid pushrod design like the small block chevy, the 3.8 is just under powered by today's standards, but it will last an eternity...this engine has been running in my '08 wrangler for nearly 18 years now...the 4.0 everyone lauds on about is an ancient flat tappet cam and lifer design that will eventually fail with modern motor oils that do not have enough zinc and phosphate as it clogs modern emissions systems....the 4 door jeep finally made the wrangler accessible by families and overlanders as it now had the space required....80% of wrangler sales are the 4 door and they are out on the trials daily...it is a huge success....you can still get it in a 2 door if that's your cup of tea...if you are changing the oil every 4000 miles...then you will be able to get 500,000 miles out of the engine....the vehicles amy have other issues but he pentastar is fine....here's one at 500,000 miles original engine...there's many stories like this..taxis delivery etc....ruclips.net/user/shortsY3V10Dvezo8 ....failed at 626,000 miles ....ruclips.net/video/CDjvfd9mo5s/видео.html

      @michelle-lz8tg I work in a repair shop here in reality. The 3.6 vehicles we have are a fleet vehicle that doesn't see hard duty and they get oil changed every 3500-4000 miles. Every one of them we have has had major issues with less than 80k on them. We are slowly getting rid of them because they don't hold value and aren't worth fixing. There is a huge story with 3.6 pentestar equipped Durango police vehicles in Indiana that has 80 of there 219 Durangos that have engine and transmission problems. Pretty sad a 2006 crown victoria with 180,000 miles is more reliable than a 3.6 pentestar with 2000 miles.

    First and last time jeep lease. I was thinking of buying my lease out early on. But then the value plummeted to less than half of the buyout. And reading on all of the issues put me way off. My wife had the Pacifica hybrid but the transmission failed and was replaced under 9,000 miles. Didn’t have other issues but forever wanted to get rid of it as I didn’t trust it as it would shut off suddenly on the highway with my kids. I’ve had one minor issue besides all the recalls that took months waiting on parts and a few rentals to fix. It just doesn’t let me out faith in the brand and the price is insane. I can get luxury vehicles for less than a Jeep 4xe these days. Screw that. The dealership is not worth the price.

    Reliability is their number one issue, IMO. Unfortunately, it's hard to achieve and easy to lose. Even Toyota and Honda seem to be having issues these days on some models. With all the bad news regarding Stellantis these days, I am not too hopeful, at least for the near term.

      I wonder if part of their problem for the 4xe is their dealer's mechanics are not fully up to speed on the tech used in the 4xe. Tech is tough and the 4xe not only has hardware tech but software. Knowing if a problem is software vs hardware problem and knowing how to fix has got to be difficult.
