  • The Fotodiox Vizelex ND Throttle Fusion Smart AF lens adapter (EF to L-mount) allows you to use your EF lenses on selected L-mount alliance cameras. In this video I have it paired with the Panasonic LUMIX S1 and my Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS II lens.
    The adapter features a built in variable ND filter, from 2-8 stops, and enables full electronic function to the lens. This includes changing aperture, auto-focus and image stabilization. With the Panasonic S1, single auto-focus is supported, but continuous auto-focus is not.
    The adapter has a geared rotating ring for the variable ND, making it compatible with follow focus systems.
    The adapter also has a micro USB port for firmware updates.
    Finally, it comes with this wooden box to store when not being used, which is a nice touch.
    In this video you can see some video examples of the adapter in action with the Panasonic LUMIX S1.
    You can purchase the adapter here: fotodioxpro.co...

    This looks really useful for the new bmpcc6k Full Frame. I know bmd doesn’t offer continuous focus, but this one touch focus on the S1H. When the AF was targeting the grass and not the birds, would you say it was the adaptation/communication of Canon/panasonic that caused the hunting. Or would a Panasonic native glass produce the same results (as in it was the camera software that was choosing the grass?)

      It could have been user error as well! Not 100% sure why that happened, I did this test a while ago and can't remember the exact conditions. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Thanks for the review. I like the concept of this adapter with variable ND and electronics. Swapping NDs is a hassle, so I may get this for my S1H. I have a couple wide angle lenses that can't accommodate a front ND, so the ND in the adapter will come in handy. It's good to see that the ND doesn't create the dreaded X pattern at extreme settings, which often happens with cheap variable NDs.
    Q: Can you confirm the lens will envoke lens stabilization (if the lens has it)? You can easily confirm this by putting your ear to the lens to hear the motors in action.
    Adapted lenses often have some kind of compromise, and continuous AF on the Lumix cameras is sporadic at best to begin with.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I don’t have this setup anymore but I do believe the adapter did allow the lens stabilisation. It just didn’t allow continuous auto focus.

    Nice! Thanks for sharing!! What do you think - which one is the faster and more accurat autofocus adapter: This one or the Sigma (or even the Novoflex)?

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  3 года назад

      I haven't used the Novoflex so can't comment. In regards to the mc21 and fotodiox adapters, I've found them to be about the same. No night or day difference. But as I use them more I'm sure I'll discover any differences and will make another video 👍

    Hi Nathan! Do you think this will work with an older Zeiss Compact Prime lens with the Ef mount on the Lumix S1H? Thanks for sharing your insights enjoyed the video!

      Yes the adapter works with EF lenses. I have a set of manual Zeiss primes and they work no problem!

    I have a question. If you use Canon 70/80D which has great auto focus. How mounting this adapter will impact this. Does "no auto focus" means that on a Canon 70/80d there will be no more auto-focus?... Sorry for a noob question. Thanks!

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  4 года назад

      This adapter is only for EF lenses to go on L-mount cameras (like Panasonic S1). You won't be able to use this adapter on Canon 70/80D. Hope that answers your question :) Thanks for watching and comments!

      It doesn't go clear and it is 2-8 stops. The website is incorrect. That was mentioned in the comments of the Fotodiox RUclips video for this product 👍

  • @50450720
    @50450720 3 года назад +2

    So it looks like a MF dum adapter and a variable ND is just as good, and far far cheaper.

    • @YourStoryStudios
      @YourStoryStudios  3 года назад +1

      It's cheaper but not necessarily as convenient. For example I can't screw variable NDs onto my Laowa 12mm lens because there is no filter thread... so I'd need a matte-box, which is expensive, and bulky etc. I also don't need to use step-up rings with filters on lenses with different filter sizes. Like many things in life, you pay for convenience!
