It's impressive how much innovation Fotodiox brings into the world of adapted camera/lens photography! Please go this for other Brand Camera/Lens Combos: especially for Nikon lenses!
That's exactly what I need it for :-)
Any chance this will change? would love to adapt to my SL...
Hi, do you think in the future you will build an EF to L mount ND Trottle adapter without autofocus? (for sony i bought your awesome adapter (EF NeX) but for panasonic L it doesn't exist at the moment. Do you plan to produce it? Thank you very much.
Does it work now with Leica Cameras like the SL2 / SL2S?
I think this might be a great tool for the newly announced Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6k. Stick on for day time shots and take off for night time shots. Makes the new camera almost behave like their BMPCC 6K Pro.
For sure! We're excited to demo this adapter on that new camera! Hoping the electronic communication works, will make a video about it when we know for sure.
Interested in this too :)
When I emailed your support team in December saying it would be smart to
make this exact adapter, they said there was no plans to make this. Glad to see it’s finally been made ;) Ordering now.
Or not, because it’s sold out already :(
@@FilmBarrie Don't worry, we have more coming soon! Also, I'm pretty sure these were being worked on when you called, but we just didn't know yet. Often our design team surprises us with a new product :)
Fotodiox Inc just ordered it :) Looking forward to testing it out on my S1H!
@@FilmBarrie How was it?
@@oscardelasol4725 Worked great, was nice to have a quick ND for exterior shooting without needing to have an ND for every lens. Basic AF functions worked fine and all the standard lens controls worked as expected.
Awesome video, thanks for really going through every detail.
Would love this for canon FD vintage lenses, seeing as they are still a very popular choice for cine cameras.
Agreed. We make FD ND Throttles for other mirrorless mounts, so we should have some coming for L-mount soon.
@@FotodioxInc Good to hear it!
Looking good. How does it compare to the low ISO function in the FP L? It says one can go to ISO 6 and cut out a lot of light...
We haven't demoed this adapter on the FP L, but going to ISO 6 and then using our ND Throttle could make for some pretty stunning long expsoures!
Great video! This pretty much answers all my questions about the adapter. Only big question now is how does the ND affect the image (colour shift, soft footage, vignetting ). Very interested in picking one of these up and testing on the S1.
Color shift is fairly minimal until you get all the way to 8 stops, which at that point adds a very slight purple tint. Nothing you can't correct out of photos though, but for video we recommend not going that dark.
@@FotodioxInc thanks for the info! I've purchased one and am looking forward to testing it out!
@@FotodioxInc There's a couple of reviews for older models that note a substantial sharpness reduction through it. Does this newer version correct this issue? Is there a notable difference in this version and say, the E-Mount version? Thanks!
@@TheJ_G @UC62EofNJm8s-qCcLNOQKZZg also keen to know how sharpness is affected?
I Like Your Video Very Helpful
Glad to help!
Hello, I'm wondering if using this adapter will allow me to disable the ND filter completely, of if there will always be 1 or 2 stops of ND even at the lowest settings. I would love to buy one but I need to know if I will still have to carry a separate clear adapter
The Variable ND filter is permanently built into the adapter and can't be removed, so you'll always have at least 2 stops of light loss.
I need this 😎
Yes you do :)
@@FotodioxInc email me ☺️
How about a plain adapter with no electronics?
There are many manual lenses that could be adapted to EF mount, but don't really need any of the autofocus and aperture control functions this adapter offers.
Also, if the current adapter is to be used on SL2 with manual lenses, would it work? Or one is not suppose to connect it to SL2 at all as it could damage something?
We don't recommend ever using this adapter on the SL2, due to issues with the SL1 and SL2's mount and our adapter.
Now in 2025 Does the adapter support AFC on Lumix s5ii and support autofocus on Sigma, Samyang, Meike auto focus lens ? thank you
Thanks this is a real good discovery today (thanks YT) as I am saving up for my Sigma fp camera! ...Laurie
Glad we could help :)
please tell me if the nd filter changes the color ?
At 8 stops you will get a slight color shift. At lower stops it's not noticeable.
Hey, Does the ND have IR filtration? Does it reduce magenta shift when shooting in Cdng
No, it doesn't have any IR filtration. We haven't tested it in Cdng mode.
Do you think the autofocus works better on the S5II?
It will be about the same as demoed here.
Just bought mine.
Enjoy!
Does your EF to L mount adapter work ‘like native’ with CAF on the new LUMIX S5 II?!?
We haven't tested it so I can't say for sure.
Any update on autofocus performance with newer LUMIX pdaf bodies?
Hi.....Is it possible to use the adapter without any active nd passthrough?
No, the ND filter is built inside the adapter and always at at least two stops of ND filtration.
The issue here is that as anyone who uses ND filters will tell you, when you attach an ND to your lens even at it's lowest stop, there is still a whole stop of light being lost. That's why in low light you take OFF the ND to recover that lost STOP. With this adapter you're stuck with it all the time. Also the adapter AF on this particular item isn't great. If you need great AF get the MC-21 canon to L-Mount. It works flawlessly and stick to the external VND that attaches to the front of your lens.
Yes, you do lose two stops of light.
Are tokina lenses compatible
Like the tokina 100mm 2.8 EF
We haven't tested Tokina on this adapter, but in past tests on other FUSION adapters we've found Tokina to be hit or miss. Some lenses work, some don't.
I have an S5 but only have 2 Canon lenses left now which I use on my old film camera.. adapter seems quite expensive and the reviews I have seen are only for video. For the money don't think its worth it, would have been nice to have a go to see how it performed though.
I kinda don't need the adapter function. Would LOVE to have the VND throttle added to the back of my e mount lenses on my Sony e mount system. Are you all working on that?
It's a cool idea, but the trick would be how to control it? Because there's supposed to be a light tight fit between the lens and camera, you'd have to remove the lens to adjust the VND, which would kind of defeat the point, and if we added extra space between the Sony E lens and Sony E camera, the lens wouldn't be able to focus to infinity anymore.
I own several Sigma Art lenses for Canon EF. I want to buy the new Sigma FP-L and need to know if these will work, including the AF function. Also would like to know if there is another adapter that will work with my lenses without the variable ND. It would have been nice to have a setup just like Canon´s RF adapter, with a removable ND filter that can be replaced by a clear glass. Only one adapter would do the trick.
What makes you want to buy an FP-L? DPReview and Gerald Undone basically said get a A7RIV instead. The Sigma offers no advantages for the price.
Is there a speed booster for Leica M to micro 4/3 I want to get my Voigtländer lenses on my Panasonic. Any advice? Thank you
Flange distance of m-mount & mft is way too close together to introduce any form of optic inbetween the lens & sensor. Sorry. You can however adapt om, m42 & m39 to an ef to mft. speedbooster, as well as buy fd to mft or md to mft speedboosters. If you want to use your voigtländer lenses i recommend going for fullframe and buying a helicoid adapter (for example VM-E adpter).
Took the words right out of our mouth :)
Do you have a Canon RF to L Mount adaptor please? I want to use an RF lense on my Sigma FP 🎥
Not at this time. Unfortunately this would be a very difficult adapter to engineer because Canon RF and L-mount both have the same focal flange distance--20mm--so if someone made this adapter it would require a very expensive optic to correct for the extra space added by the adapter.
@@FotodioxInc Oh I see. Thank you for the great work you are doing and for sharing the knowledge - I will invest in this EF to L mount adaptor with Variable ND throttle - It may be easier. I have now also subscribed to you - Thank you for the awesome support.
Do you ship it to India / Mumbai ?
Yes, we do.
@@FotodioxInc ok thanks
I have a Lumix S5. Will this adapter allow me to use canon EF lenses?
It should work.
Can I adapt my Canon 7D and my leica D Vario-Elmarit 14 to 50 4/3 to each other. Where do I purchase one?
Unfortunately we don't carry a Four Thirds to Canon EF adapter. The reason we don't is because Four Thirds has a shorter focal flange distance than Canon EF does, so even if someone made an adapter like this, the four third lens would only function as a macro focus lens on the Canon EF camera and would not be able to focus to infinity.
you do make L mount to RF ?? too ?
That wouldn't work because both mounts have the exact same focal flange distance--20mm--so the only way to adapt an L mount lens to a Canon RF mount camera would be to mod that lens so it has an RF mount.
@@FotodioxInc ok thanks for the reply....
Would love to see a PL to L Fusion ND Throttle adapter. Any chance we'll see those come to market?
We offer PL ND Throttle adapters for other mirrorless camera mounts, so we should have a PL to L ND Throttle in the future, I just don't have a release date.
Sean, will the adapter work on a Leica CL or TL2
This adapter does not currently work with Leica brand L-mount cameras.
So, would it be possible to run my Nikon F-Mount Sigma lens after getting those re-crafted to Canon mount by Sigma on my Lumix S1H?
If you changed the Nikon mount to Canon EF mount, it would mount on this adapter, but you wouldn't get auto focus or electronic aperture control. You'd have to adjust both manually.
@@FotodioxInc Thanks for your answer. I was assuming that the Sigma-recrafted lens would behave as if made for Canon out of the factory - doesn't it?
So will this adapter always apply minimum of 2 stops ND? No way of having zero ND? I'm thinking of low light shots, is using this adapter already making the lens 2 stops slower, when not needed?
Unfortunately yes
Yes, the variable ND filter is built in and cannot be removed, so you're always down an extra two stops.
Will the adapter have a minimum of 2 stops of ND at all times?
Yes.
Thanks for the reply
WILL THIS ADAPTER WORK WITH PANASONIC S5?
We haven't tested it on that camera, but it should work.
I'm lookin for an adapter to mount an EF 90mm f/2.8 Tilt and Shift lens on a SL2. I use a T&S lens to get MAXIMUM DOF for product advertising shots. Is there a 0 setting for the unneeded ND filter? Maybe I'd be better off to use a Leica 90mm , and just use focus stacking.
Hi Charles, no, the variable ND filter in this adapter starts at 2 stops, but we do offer a version of this adapter that doesn't have an ND filter. But unfortunately neither of these adapters are currently compatible with Leica L-mount cameras, and they only work on non-Leica L-mount cameras like the Sigma fp and the Panasonic L-mounts. We're currently looking into a way to fox this, but there are some issues with the way Leica builds their cameras that are getting in the way of resolving the issue.
I have an fp and tons of Nikon. Wish you had F/G mount options.
We do offer a manual Nikon to L adapter, and it includes a manual aperture control lever so you can adjust the aperture of most Nikon F/G lenses manually at least. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/nkg-l-dlx
@@FotodioxInc when I get to my next location for military duty is am ordering one. I definitely look forward to using it.
@@FotodioxInc just ordered one so I can use my Army issue lenses with my Sigma FP in the field. Hope it works well.
@@FotodioxInc Bought both this and the Nikon mount. Love the ND filter in the Canon one been using it for everything and have jsut shared it with other FP owners.
Hi bro, is it also fully compatible with an Irix EF manual Cine lenses and a Panasonic Lumix S1H body?
It should work fine with that lens, but since you said it was a manual cine lens you won't have any electric control of the focus or aperture.
Is this available in the UK?
Yes, we ship worldwide. But here's a list of our international dealers as well if one of these works better for you: fotodioxpro.com/pages/dealers#INTL
pretty nice! can you make this for Canon EF to E-mount?
We already offer one like that. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/eos-snye-p-fusion-ndthrtl
@@FotodioxInc oh awesome! thanks! : )
Any word on ibis support with Panasonic bodies?
With our FUSION adapters you should be able to use IBIS and built-in lens stabilization at the same time, or choose to use one or the other.
Does AFC work on panasonic S5? Currently i own the Sigma MC21, which doesnt support AFC.
This adapter currently doesn't fully support afc, though if you look at 5:23 you can see that it does partially work, it's just not quite dependable for blogging situations where you're not monitoring it full time.
does AF works on video????
The video shows that it does.
@@newfoundmass i made that comment before watching the whole video.. LOL
Yes, but the continuous AF has limited functionality.
@@HyperspeedMedia lol, that's like not not reading the manual, which I am prone do! Lol Laurie
LWJCarroll we all do that
Cool! Would this adapter also work with third party lenses? I might buy the Panasonic S5 (L-mount), with this ND adapter and a sigma 24-70. I am a videographer so wouldn't necessarily rely on autofocus, but it would be great of the other features just work fine.
This adapter will work with most EF lenses for aperture control, but we can't guarantee accurate auto focus for third party lenses. That being said, Sigma lenses tend to be more dependable on our adapters than other third parties.
Are there any updates on this, Like continuous autofocus for Panasonic S5 or better autofocus?
There aren't any new firmware updates yet.
@@FotodioxInc So if i wanted to have an adapter and i dont really want the ND filter, is the other Fotodiox Ef to L adapter just fine? With AF-S?
Can you use this lens adapter with the bmdcc 6K
No, this adapter is for L-mount cameras and the 6K is a Canon EF mount camera.
Cool! But it could be cooler with a swapable filter tray like Canon RF adapter (or at least an 1-5 steps option).
Hello, I'm harder with the Panasonic S5. Would this adapter work with it? I have Canon 50mm F1.8 and 100mm f2.8 macro and 85mm f1.4 and 70-200 II f2.8 with 2x extender lenses
Yes, the adapter should work on that camera.
@@FotodioxInc OK .. but "should" is not really trustwothy :D
@@4050ac We haven't had a chance to test the adapter on that camera yet, that's why I say "should." But the camera has the same or similar firmware running in it as the S1H, which we have tested the adapter on thoroughly, and it works well on that camera, so it should work just as well on the S5. But if for some reason you have issues, we do have a 14 day return policy.
@@FotodioxInc OK .. Thanks .. with that I am reassured. I will get my new S5 in the End of Sep.. could you please so kind and test it and share the results :D
@@FotodioxInc HI .. how 2 buy it from Germany. I finally got my Lumix S5 :D

@@enricojakobsoriano Keep an eye out this Labor Day :)
Fotodiox Inc Will do! Thanks!
Please make an Nikon F to L mount version for this, I don't want to use two adapters stacked for my Nikon glass ( it will wobble )
I know the nikon version would need two rings, one for aperture and one for the nd, but I would still love to see it :)
Or just one ring for the nd and the aperture can only be controlled on lenses with an aperture ring, thats also good enough.
Hi Lars, thanks for the suggestion. We'll definitely consider it for the future. In the mean time, we do offer a standard Nikon to L-mount adapter here: fotodioxpro.com/products/nikg-lt-pro

why doesnt your sound sync with video ??
It's synced when we watch it. Sometimes RUclips streaming lags and creates sync issues though.
When are they going to do a Nikon one
Unfortunately you can't adapt Canon EF lenses to Nikon F because Nikon F has a slightly deeper focal flange distance than Canon EF. But if you're referring to the newer Nikon Z mirrorless system, there's a chance we may offer an EF to Z auto adapter in the future.
@@FotodioxInc Nikon to Sigma fp I mean
@@davidharris1562 Oh, gotcha. Well, we do currently make an auto adapter to go from Nikon F to Sony E, so it's possible our team is cooking up one for L-mount as well. Nothing to announce yet though.
Why is this adapter so expensive compared to other adapters for other brands such as the sony version..? Besides, I probably need an extra clean adapter just to be able to use the same lenses in low light situations. Don't get me wrong, this adapter is amazing but it's just so expensive.
Foot of adapter does NOT clear Battery grip of Panasonic S1/R/H !!!!!
You can remove the tripod foot
What design is the ND filter? Is it electronic or is it like a typical variable ND combining a circular and linear polarising filter?
It's the second.
You should release a dumb version. I enjoyed using your E to EF nd throttle, but £250+ just seems too steep.
Great idea! Definitely worth looking into. I'll let our design team know.
