THIS LOUD MUSIC DRIVES ME MAD!!! I'm in the middle of your video trying to get useful information and it feels like I'm watching a sci-fi movie. You can't be serious! (Mc Enroe would say)
@@YourStoryStudios Yeah, I watched multiple videos on this Fotodiox product and finally decided not to buy it. The electronics inside is kind of a russian roulette. It even killed one guy's brand new camera. Sorry for being too harsh in my previous comment. I've spent too much time to get to the information I needed and got a little antsy.
Update for anyone on the Lumix s5ii/x looking for the EF vnd adapter: The passive fotodiox version looks like a good solution for EF cine/vintage lenses. Kind of funny how I got the Lumix s5ii for autofocus and now mainly use manual focus exclusively.
thanks for this video, but really the test for the Fotodiox should be outside---that, IMO, is its real value. I have actually ordered this adapter--but plan to use it with non-electronic lenses--Rokinon---outside, run and gun. The this gives several benefits---based on the fact I've also used this same adapter for different cameras. 1. No need for lens ND filters. 2. Variable ND in the adapter protects the sensor when switching lenses. 3. No "X" crossing in the ND filter that can ruin your videos. I"ve been very happy with the results on other camera---but we're talking about use out and about. I see little value in using it in studio.
Yes, correct, this adapter is meant for outdoor use. I saw people asking online if they could use it indoors, so that’s why I made this video. The answer is “yes, but… “ - as long as you know the compromises it could work for you 👍
disagree. I'm very familiar with this product---they make them for several cameras. This is meant for outside run and gun shooting, which really starts at 2 stops. In doors the last thing you need is a filter, and if you do you're a lot better off to use a non-variable to get just the perfect F-stop you want in a very controlled bright lighting scenario. If this adapter went to "0" you would invariably (no pun intended) end up with taking two stops off the top----the actual two stops you will need most critically in outside shooting.
I'm thinking of getting this vnd adapter to use on my S1 and xeen 135mm t2.2 manual cine lens as it has 114mm front end! Obviously the AF performance is irrelevant for cine lenses, but I'm interested to learn more about the VND performance, is it stepless, and does it apply much of a colour cast when adjusting strength? Cheers in advance.
I can't remember off the top of my head sorry. I've sold the camera and don't have it to test anymore. You could try changing the camera from AF-S to AF-C mode.
The Fotodiox does change the look slightly but nothing that can't really be fixed in post, or is a big concern for me. Focus speed is about the same depending on which lens you use. Will need to test these adapters out more!
Hello Can I ask you? - It is possible to use lenses from "Samyang Cinema - EF mount, without any problems with this Leica Adapter? -Problems like: crop factor or vignetting?
Ahhh a button the LCD screen came up after switching to MF mode. I think thats it. Now to figure out how to move the focus box remotely.. Are u able to do that?
Sorry you found it pointless. I've seen some people ask whether they should get the mc21 or the Fotodiox. If you shoot inside and need an EF to L-mount adapter, the Fotodiox probably isn't ideal for you and you should get the mc21. But if you have enough light you can still use the Fotodiox... but that would generally mean you'd need powerful studio lights.
You never gave your full opinion. This was more like a review of lenses and cameras than any adapter. Maybe try and oncentrate on your subject and stick within its subject matter mate.
Where did you find a metabones one? I had it on my GH5 and loved it. I only know of the two reviewed here (Sigma and Fotodiox) whereas the Novoflex one has terrible reviews.

@@TomiBonTomi_2.0 all good! You aren’t the first person to point out the loud music. I’ve learned from my mistake 😉
Must have been expensive to record this with a live orchestra 😆
Good info though 👍
Great video bro 👍🏻

does this adapter allow you to control parameters in lenses? I have an S5 and S5IIX and was thinking about buying one
@@mariohazard821 not the passive one. I think the active one lets you control aperture in EF lenses, but I never buy lenses without an aperture ring
I film Pro Motocross/Supercross on my S1 with Sigma MC-21 it has a very hard time. Wish they would fix AFC!
Absolutely! Do you have any native lenses?
@@YourStoryStudios No only use Canon lens

@@YourStoryStudios The needed compromises are doable. The value of NOT having to lug around an array of variable ND filters-----priceless.
primary audio (dialogue) mixed to peak at -6db, bg music mixed to peak between -15db and -20db

Damn I wish that fotodiox had a 0 ND setting. That’s a bummer.
If it went to clear it would be a sure winner! There's always a gotcha.

It's smooth and stepless. In regards to colour cast, most nd filters do affect the image and can be fixed in post.
is the lens used the STM version or the older one? thank's
Hi. Which AF button did you use in Sync App? My lens doesn't focus by touch screen and I have only AF Off button on the screen.
I can't remember off the top of my head sorry. I've sold the camera and don't have it to test anymore. You could try changing the camera from AF-S to AF-C mode.
Or possibly manual mode.
Haven't tried the Fotodiox, but it's definitely the Viltrox over the MC21.
Thanks for watching!
from your experience is the PQ the same with both adapters ? also wich is the fastest and more accurate at focusing job ? thanks

Are you saying no image quality degradation? If so, the ND throttle seems like a very neat solution, particularly for video
are there any IR pollutioin with the fotodiox nd throttle?
does it mess with the back focus of the lens as a glass is put there?

I guess this is very subjective. I find it quite appropiate for the type of video.
CINEYTAL I agree
There both crap, save your pennies and get metabones.
I don't believe Metabones currently have one to purchase. Hopefully in the future!

Peter Syravong i didn’t, I was wrong.
Nine months later, Metabones still doesn't make an active Canon EF to L mount adapter.
