    Great stuff and very helpful. Thank you Jordan.

    You update the firmware on the MC-21 the same way as you update lens firmware. Download new firmware from Sigma, uncompress it and put it on an SD card, attach the MC-21 to camera (without any lenses attached) and just go to "update firmware" in the menu and it'll give you a choice of camera or MC-21 and that's it, I use mine with the Sigma 150-600 C lens, I've also put on the Sigma 18-250 APS-C and that works fine (for photographs) without changing anything in the camera settings. My MC-21 also has a little bit of play between the lens and the adaptor too

    It seems like the Sigma adapter is best suited to manual focus, or when autofocus can be a bit more leisurely and not instant. Therefore it would be great for adapting manual lenses like the Zeiss classic ZE line, the Zeiss Milvus and Otus lenses, Zeiss CP.2 cine primes, Samyang/Rokinon classic and cine lenses, the Sigma cine primes, Canon EF cine glass, etc. This would allow the camera to control aperture and recognize the focal length for stabilization.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад +2

      Absolutely! Yeah I definitely wouldn't recommend moving away from any native setups if AF was a priority for shooters. But generally, panny users that I speak to seem to mostly be manual focussers, probably because everyone else has moved to Sony or Canon 😂.
      Overall its a cracking piece of kit to have in your bag, just in case you ever need it 👍

    When using APS C mode, there is a 1.5x crop right, so if its a f1.8lens, does the F stop also go up?

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  Год назад

      Nope, it remains at 1.8. The adapter is just a mount converter, rather than a magnifier, like the Speed boosters 👍🙂

    Hey, Y'all. I'm having this issue of where im using the mc-21 to connect my sigma 18-35 f 1.8 to my Panasonic s5, but when I go to into S&Q mode to check out the slow-motion options, the FHD options (which allow you to shoot slow-mo up to 180 FPS) are greyed out, and I am only able to go to 60 fps?

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      Hmmm, that's strange! I don't have my 18-35 at the moment, but I just attached the MC-21 on its own to the S1 and isn't greyed out for me. I'll get back to you on this!

  • @VANOXmicroscopy

    I have a specific question: Can u change the shutter type to EFC when ONLY the SIgma MC-21 is attached to the camera without an additional lense ?

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      Just checked this out for you, and no unfortunately you can't select EFC with just the adapter attached. The only available options are Auto, Mech, Elec and Elec+NR. This is also the case when a lens such as the 18-35mm is attached, in case you're interested 👍

    Good information here man. I use this adapter on the Sigma fp and it does support continuous autofocus in video(even face detect). The focus scale even pops up on screen when using Art lenses. It simply makes no sense that Sigma provides continuous autofocus for the MC-11 on SONY cameras but not the MC-21? Sigma, Panasonic, and Leica have "The L-mount alliance", yet they don't seem to have very good alliegance to one another...just weird. There is no excuse for this adapter not providing full functionality across ALL L-mount cameras...period!

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      You're completely right, it's very strange for this not to be considered for Panasonic or other L mount cameras. I'd happily pay an extra £50 if it included continuous autofocus! Glad you like the video!

    What firmware version of the adapter that you are running as with mine one, when using the 18-35, it forces me to use APSC mode. The Full Frame Mode is greyed out.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      I haven't actually updated the firmware of the adapter, thanks for reminding me! However, it does allow me to use it, but definitely isn't usable so is effectively VOID.

    hi, I just want to know if your EF sigma 18-35 lock properly? I am trying to lock my lens but its not locking.

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  2 года назад +1

      Seems fine to me! Maybe the smallest amount of wiggle but nothing that would separate the communication points between the lens and the adapter 🙂

  • @Mrshr3dalot

    So I just purchased an S5 and I noticed the bar thing immediately and panicked a bit. Do you think it could cause problems longterm with the camera?

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  2 года назад

      I'm not too sure whether it can now be resolved via a lens firmware update using the SIGMA docking Station. My guess is that it shouldnt cause any harm, considering the amount of time the S5 has been out and SIGMA haven't jumped at the chance to fix it yet 🙂

    Hello Jordan! I have a pressing question: Does the Lumix S5 focus bracketing work with the Sigma MC 21 adapter? I want to use the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens with the S5, but I was told it will disable the focus bracketing. Focus bracketing is a must-have for me. Could you please check it?

      Hi there! Ooh how strange. Have you checked the "Image Area of Video" setting in your menu? There isn't an automatic setting, but that's the only area I can imagine you being able to change that.
      It might be a firmware/compatibility issue instead, so it could be worth making sure your firmwares are all up to date.
      Good luck with it 🤞

    How often does that warping happen? I'm a EF user myself and have no plans on switching to L mount. How confident do you feel on a paid job with that problem. Seems like a deal breaker. I too have the sigma 18-35 and that would sick if that becomes a worry. Does it also warp with your other lenses? Cheers

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад +1

      It hasn't happened to me since. I've got my first shoot with this setup next week so I'll let you know how it goes! I haven't had any issue with any other EF lenses too, but the only other EF glass I have are the ones in this video.

    • @gnkstudios6138

      @@JordanLeeVideo that is certainly a relief. Another youtuber said they never experienced it either. I'm sold on getting this as my gimbal/photography camera. Nothing better for the price. Especially for my needs. Thanks to guys like you. I'm looking forward to seeing where L mount goes. If black magic ever got on L mount I may consider it! Lol

    • @JordanLeeVideo

    would this work on the GH5?

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      Unfortunately not. This particular one is for L-mount cameras. There are plenty of Adapters and Speedboosters for the GH5 to EF glass though, including the Metabones Speedbooster and the Viltrox EF-M2. (The viltrox is a similar price point to this SIGMA MC-21)

      @@JordanLeeVideo I've used it very extensively on my GH5 and I've enjoyed the look. Even speedboosted the FOV is so narrow though. I look forward to using it on a FF sensor. I'm hoping it'll let me switch between full stage wide shots and close up zooms (I shoot a lot of live modern dance, at least I used to before everything went to hell in the US)

    • @JordanLeeVideo
      @JordanLeeVideo  3 года назад

      @@JustinWoo Sounds like we have similar setups! I also bought the lens originally for speedboosting on my GH5 for a rugby tournament, but haven't properly used it on the S1 yet, (bought the camera during lockdown 😂)
      You're so right with the DoF even on the GH5 😮 f/2 at 300(ish)mm equivalent is NOT FUN when manually focusing 😂
