This is the kind of stuff many musicians forgot about, how simple and how effective! Great lesson, great teacher and a master of the blues! Don’t forget guys to donate! Thank you!
Thanks
Wonderful and inspiring. "Play with commitment is the key"! Take that all you noodlers
Noodling with commitment can help you discover stuff you didn't know was there!
@wanderingaengus-n8w at home, that's allright, but for an audience it's awfull😄
Simply an amazing teacher
Man, you could go down to the local Chinese restaurant and read out the menu and you'd make it interesting and informative... you have a truly excellent teaching style and an excellent channel (and I used to be a high school teacher so hats off to you, Sir).
Great Jack...Many players forget the gospel element when playing blues and jazz...Who attended church as a young person?..
This lesson! Wow. You do so many many great lessons, but this one, for some reason I could SEE and HEAR what you were doing. The progression of how you added a bit, then added a bit, then added the “spicy” notes… I actually got it. Damn. Now, I just need to be able to DO it… where’s my guitar!? Thank you for this.
Thank you Jack Ruck for your great lesson.🙏
Thanks Jack. I love this. Together with your previous lesson you have given me, and many others, a path to sounding good over Gospel style progressions.
Johnny Winter had a great version of this song also. Thanks for the lesson.
That one is worth learning! 👍👍👍 Thanks for the lesson. 🎸🎸🎸
Love that ES 335 .
Masterful lesson. Thanks, Jack! \m/ \m/
Awesome lesson thanks for your time! More on plaing the changes!! Thanks again!
A master!
What a fantastic video as always Jack have a good day also happy last week also first week of February from Canada old friend also today is my friend birthday February 2❤🎉😊
always appreciate your insights. FYI, gained a tremendous amount from your triad courses, finished the first and now I am part way through the second. BTW, I don't think it's really your style, but would love to see you do something in the style of Steve Howe, who's the reason I play. may be a little snippet from something like "I've seen all good people". God Bless
Hi Jack, this is really a great guitar lesson! Compliments on the clarity and quality of the tutorial. I wanted to ask where I can find the tab and the full lesson on Patreon. I’m subscribed and would like to know if the tab has already been uploaded or if it’s still to come. If it’s available, could you let me know the date? Thanks a lot!
Like buttah, baby!
Niiiiiice ❤
I commend the remark..
Commit to the things your playing.

At around 2: 04 you mention D major scale I believe you met Db major,
Why does the move to playing the Db minor pentatonic work over the chords?
Because the chords are dominant 7 chords and not major or minor, so the there are chord tone in both DB major pentatonic and DB minor pentatonic
Because it has more of the useful chord tones of the IV chord (Gb7) - the E is the flat 7 of Gb7, the Gb is the root, the Ab is the 9 (a common choice when comping for blues). And of course the Db is the fifth of the Gb but the Db is in both scales.
The major scale doesn’t have the root or the 7th of the Gb7 chord. It does have the major 3rd (Bb). But it also has the major seventh (F) which will sound really weird over the Gb dominant chord.
Long story short, more “right” sounding notes and fewer clash-y notes if you play the Db minor pentatonic over the Gb chord.
I might have got some of those notes wrong. Trying to think through the key of Db is confusing… 😂
@@carsongreen3181 Thank you. That's helpful. Kinda like a normal blues!
What's the best route for lessons, Trufire or the patreon?
Both are good. TF courses provide a structured pathway. Brett Papa has several of Jack's courses. The TF and BP courses are excellent. With Patreon you have community.
Just to warn you, Jack is completely unresponsive on Patreon, so if you expect him to answer your questions, forget about it. The community also has on average one comment per post… great resourse of materials though, if that’s what you are after.
