Received the Viltrox ef-l adapter today and tested it on my S1. Works with everything I have tried so far. Even the most difficult lens for adapters canon 22-55mm 4-5.6 usm works without any issue. Even the sigma lenses work better on the viltrox than on the sigma mc21. Some of them even don't want to get in and out in the mc21 easily. The plastic fantastic canon 50mm 1.8 mark 2 doesn't focus with the mc21 and works fine with the viltrox! The focus is incomparably consistent and faster compared to the sigma, even with sigma lenses, not to speak about compatibility. Really dissaponted from sigma again and it costs significant amount of money for an adapter. Camera firmware 2.2 sigma mc21 1.3
Massive firmware updates coming to the S1 range on 19 November which specifically address issues on this adaptor. Panasonic working with 3rd party companies (Sigma) for the benefit of their users. Glad I switched to panasonic.
I have been unable to get focussing with my LUMIX S5 and Canon 50/1.8 II lens. Am I doing something incorrectly? Manual focus works well, and the lens is recognised… thanks for advising.
I was wondering what happens to the 4K when adapting the 18-35 sigma glass, which is for crop sensor. What is the output like in terms of focal distance?
Very cool. I've preordered the S5 along with the Sigma MC-21 adapter to adapt my Sigma and Canon EF glass. Thanks for this. I heard the MC-21 was great for enabling use of AF with your camera. P.S. Your audio seems to dip down a bit towards the end of the video, it was almost competing with your background music. Just an FYI.
If only Sigma would make an adaptor for F-mount lenses. The Lumix S1 is the only mirrorless that I would currently consider buying but I cannot afford to buy a whole load of new lenses, too.
It is only works on my Sigma 85 art lens and slower focus speed compare to native L mount lenses on S1r, all my other Canon EF lenses will not work, just keeps hunting on AF. ( Canon 50mm f1.4, 135 f2L, 24-70 f2.8 L, 70-200 f2.8 L) Both s1r & adapter are on latest firmware.
Thanks for the video! I cannot get the 50mm 1.4 USM that you are showing to work on the S1 with the MC-21. I tried every combination of focusing, it always focuses about 5 inches behind the focus point, but it strangely confirms focus being ok. Am I missing something?
Great review! I don't really like to shoot in the rain. I'm wondering if there's anyway to shoot in the rain with the adapter on considering the lens and s1r is water resistant?
Thank you for the vide. How can we complain to Sigma and Panasonic for prevent the AFC aka Continuous Auto Focus from working with the adapter? What’s the point of having an adapter if we can use continuous autofocus.
If i buy Sigma MC-21 and put it on S5 Panasonic,i could use all my Canon glass...will the S5 internal stabilization work with MC-21 and non stabilized lens ??
A *HUGE* letdown with this camera/adapter combination currently is that they do not support the TC-1401 and TC-2001 tele converters. Sure, you can mount them and they *work*, but your camera gets forced into APS-C mode, effectively negating any benefit from adding them, and disabling High Resolution photo, and 6K photo in the process...
How did you get the adapter work with the 50mm 1.4 USM - I have the adapter and the lens and it consistently focuses about 5in behind the focus point (on my S5). I pop the lens onto a 5D MIII and it focuses fine. I use other lenses on the adapter and they work fine. Any tips would be helpful.
I guess by the end of the day adapted lenses could be useful for landscape or studio photography, but for event photography, we still need to resort to the native lenses.
Hey dude! Daso you know if using the Sigma 18-35 & 50-100 would be a good idea for this camera (obviously using the MC-21 alongside of it)? Is it possible to use a crop mode with the camera in 6k or 5.9k with APS-C lenses? Let me know you can help! Thanks!
Ruskin Kyle sigma adapter is not working with Leica L mount , watch Richard Wong review on you tube he state that none of the leica L mount lens is working with Sigma adapter , canon is ok but not too good either very slow focus .
Hello, I have a panasonic s1r. I purchased the Sigma MC-21 adapter for my Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM II lens. However the Canon lens won't fit the Sigma MC-21 adapter. It is slightly too big. Since it fits the Canon EF 100-400mm, I assumed the flange is the same on the canon 70-300mm IS USM II. I guess there is no way to adapt this lens to the Panasonic S1r? Thank You..
Ok i got gh4. I want to update the camera and was thinking to go with Sony but this review kinda changed my mind for a second because all my glass is ef mount.
Hello, I have seen in an image of your video that the converter says mount EF-L but when I click on the link the image says sigma SA-L Do they have the same function? Can I use my Canon lenses with the Sigma SA-L converter?
Hi, I recently bought the S1 with MC-21 adaptor, acknowledging the fact that I will somehow compromise on AF. While my EF L series lenses work fine with it, I can't get to the 50mm f/1.4 USM to work on AF (for photography) I tried pretty much every possible setting, unless I am doing something wrong. Any advice that you can give me? Has anyone else had a similar problem with the 50mm or other EF prime lens? Thanks!

Great question, they both have advantages, the adapted 70-200 was at f/2.8 which is nice and it's a great lens but then the native 70-200 can be used with AF-C which is very useful, especially at longer focal lengths so there's pros and cons to both. Thanks for watching :-)
I read all around that dual stabiliszation doesnt work with mc21 on S1 and maybe on the next S1H !! same thing for autofocus in some mode, can anybody tell me if they experience that ?
You can only use the image stabilisation in camera or from the lens but not both at the same time with the MC-21. For me, the stabilisation in the S1 was more than enough though :-)
If U are taking photos, not video, then U just set it to acquire focus on a half press. With the dfd system it catches focus almost instantly so that is a workable system
