- Recently I was traveling in Illinois and observed some oversized loads. This Sunday Rant is a recount of that. I saw one nearly push a car in the median while they all were stopping many trucks from passing. Not from their size but the way they were driving. There can't be an excuse to force cars on the shoulder. These three were also so close that it caused a long backup that was unnecessary. Safety should be a priority.

I didn't realize how stupid humans were until I started driving for a living.
Exactly. Unfathomably stupid.
😂🤣😂
Ill a noise! You are correct sir
Ill Annoy Always liked when the state abbreviations were 3 letter, as Illinois was "Ill"
Had that happen to me from Caryville, TN on I-75 all the way to I-40/I-81 split. Traffic was just too heavy for me to impede the left lane doing 66 mph and climbing hills with a heavy flatbed. He would slow down to like 35 then do 70 mph, in a 55 zone When it opened up to three lanes he used both the right lanes the whole way. He was narrower than the Clayton mobile home trucks that go through there and they don't take up both lanes like that. Traffic was nearly stopped several times.
One problem with the oversized loads and traffic is everyone is paralyzed by fear trying to pass them. Lanes are wider than you think they are. Just ride the edge and hammer down to get by the rolling roadblocks. I had a pilot car tried to run me off the road a while back trying to pass an oversize load. I did not see a VIP Placard on the truck saying they could use the whole road.
ILL-annoy!!!
I have pulled permitted oversized loads must permits will read like this. 10 mph below posted speed limit but not to exceed 55 mph. Don’t let traffic stack up more than quarter mile behind the oversized load must pull over to let traffic flow
I never pass when I see a Western Express or some other mega truck in the left lane, I wait till they return to the right lane then I’ll make the pass. It may take a bit but I wait for the cars behind to clear. No sense that we are all behind the slower truck.
Ellen Noise! Causing oversized finger action on Fitty Seven. Don’t worry. I got a PERMIT!!!
I'm sorry that you had to experience this day from hell. Hopefully, no one was killed. 😮
I have run into this unfortunately with so many oversized load drivers. Somehow some of them feel its okay to do whatever they want. It really comes down to enforcing law. They get away with it because they can.
Stuck a truck how far up there???
Oversized & cattle haulers super Truckers get out of the way
Hey mark did you know you can get your cdl off the back of a crackerjack box and your grand prize inside is a hazmat endorsement or a heavy haul license just order more boxes and before you know it your a big time truck driver
Yes certain types of trucking such as Oversized have Owners & drivers & mechanics & pilot car personnel that have a superior mindset & inferiority complex part of human nature
ILLINOISE ? ILLINOISE? 😂 Very funny Mark.
There's an S, might as well pronounce it🤷🏾♂️
@@Lo-mein0, Then you’re not from Illinoi .
Ya finger action was weird however i digress...... You right bto, i have seen so many douchebag pilot car programs its ridiculous.
You are describing a real humdinger of a group omgosh😮😮😮. Straight up stupid AND they think they have their safety on, lol.
Thanks dad.
Ill is the flatttest northern state.
The pilot cars cut in front of traffic and
Screw around with left lane traffic.they think they own the road.
I think i saw these three guys on I-75N in Tennessee, Monday about noon, north of Knoxville. These guys were hauling like concrete trailers placed sideways, taking up a lane and a half. I was driving to work and passed the first one. As i was in line waiting for the left lane to pass by the 2nd one, the third one came flying down the hill. Now, this guy isnt goung anywhere because hes behind two similarly loaded trailers. Well, he about hit me as he tried to pass. So i called 911 and reported them and how the 3 of them were driving. I dont know if the highway patrol caught them, but if enough people call this in, they will pull the permits and find out who these good old boyz are. They may find it more difficult the next time getting a permit issued.
Wanted to add they were even pushing trucks off onto the shoulders by their super trucker mentally. My view is they need to have oversized loads move at night when there's less traffic and save the travel public from being around a-holes like this.
I realize that but maybe they need to reconsider it.
You have to maintain your lane. That's one of the most basic fundamentals of driving. You don't steer out of your lane!
I'd have let him hit my car, then sued the piss out of the company.
Call the police and report them
Call the highway patrol and report it. Simple
Im sorry, BUT, 45mph for oversized load is stupid. Talk about impeding traffic
But, traffic would be able to get by with less danger.
