- This Sunday Rant is about what I saw this week. A Nussbaum truck labeled as RED was driving with the trailer tandems all the way back in Indiana and Illinois. Nussbaum says that Red is a symbol of driver excellence, service and dedication. This should means a driver who is more knowledgeable than the average driver due to the continuing education requirements of the Red. I wonder who teaches the education there? Is it a driver or a third party? I also had an interaction at work with a so-called trainer who insisted that a 34 hour reset is mandatory each week. Fast fact. It isn't. Our program to train people who are trainers is given by a person who has never even been in a truck. That is a great idea. The industry is terrible to new people and can't get out of it's own way. Why don't I train new drivers here? I'm not going to take a driver trainer class given by someone who doesn't drive. Being a real professional takes time. It takes considerable time to really learn all the nooks and crannies of trucking.

I love it when my DM freaks out when I'm doing split breaks. Lol
Korean Mafia HQ has a policy that we lost log a 15 minute pre-trip and post trip. It’s not really a problem as long as you keep your speed to 5 mph while in the yard
Here's the Keys
Get In There It's Trucking
I stay out about two months at a time. Never have I taken a 34 on the road.. The company I work for plans are loads so we’re working under eight hours a day. Have a lot of free time some days.😀 still getting paid decent and not running like a maniac every day.
Another possibility is maybe it only needed to go a few miles down the road and the driver knew there wouldn't be any scales and didn't want to mess with the tandems.
I'm guessing that driver realized very quickly when he tried making a tight turn where his tandems were😝
It's all that trucking dogma 😂
Really
Extremely
Dangerous....R.E.D.
I love your videos. Your wit and knowledge of this occupation is always there and displayed. Thank you for always being willing to share and teach. (He was great, but he didn't invent the moonwalk!)
You should check out Mike Life on 18 wheels and check out the Boston trucker his name is Mike too these guys are the real deal me I was too at one time but I am retired on disability so I truck now on the RUclips super highway
@@georgewilson1184 It's a shame you have disabilities. I'm glad you keep a great attitude. I don't watch many trucker channels. I will watch Mark because of his experience, knowledge, common sense, and his sense of humor.
@@Tony-5000 you know it Thankyou Tony I have been following Mark for 4 years now and I follow some other good ones like the Boston trucker & Life on 18 wheels & Justin Sturgill Trucking Cinn Ohio & Steve Fezchek & his 1984 Cabover Peterbilt named Orwell & Adam of DIY Semi from Wisconsin and. Cash is King trucking from Minn MN and Dauminique the Dump truck driver from the Seattle WA. area
Maybe Captain Asslown was empty AND of course the rain!
Another Great Video!!! Saw A Flip Flop Laying On The Ground Next To A Truck Spot Today At The Greenfield Rest Area Off 70 West In Indiana. Think The Kids Call Them 'Slides' But It Was A Single Adidas Getting Wet In The Rain LOL RIDICULOUS LOL
Could be broken tandem locking pins. Swift used to have a video on their "Swift University" that showed an instructor banging on the tandem locking pins with a hammer.
Hey Mark, you use to do a great Podcast Show, what happen? I use to really enjoy it, you use to do just like a Radio Professional. Seriously, you were really good!
When they gonna fix 65 over there by Lafayette is my question lol
Reading Educates Drivers😁. Mark is on his way to being the company trainer. OH, where are you seeing these waitresses in tank tops and flip flops?
This happens in Wisconsin all the time how do they not get hit with a fine
GOOD INFORMATION THANKS! 👍
My company has a reward for new hires that if you as a seasoned driver get a new driver you can get a $5100 for bringing on that driver. Paid over 5months. But also has a retention bonus annually with different levels depending on the number of years with the company.
5 months and I’m out.
To be fair, they were changing the rules so often for a while there that it was hard to keep up. I do agree that the reset is probably preferable for management because it makes it easier on planning. But a trainer should know that recapping is possible and could be necessary at some point.
I run my tripple axles all the way back in WA OR because 99% docks want it slid
Regulatory interpretation v. Company training.
I know which side I will be on.
I ride with my tandems back all the time. Some trailers I get dogwalk like crazy so it helps to slide the tandems, which helps better the pull.
I want to give a shout out to a super great driver named Mike who pulls tankers for Guillroy petroleum in Louisiana his channel is life on 18 wheels he has a plethora of knowledge and is very positive attitude he is a company driver but the way he takes care of that 389 Pete you would think he is a O.O. Just like that other Mike up in Boston the Boston Trucker Oh Yeah and you yourself Mark …….Who do you drive for ???😊
Really? You must be new to the channel.
8.75 hours ON-DUTY, EVERY DAY,
you could work EVERY day, WITHOUT running out of hours.
I've had company 'safety & compliance officers', argue me in this. But, on a 8-day rolling schedule, this is how it is .
Also, every shipper and receiver I go to, unless they tell me NOT to, I will slide my tandems back, backing into a dock. Then slide them forward upon leaving.. The guy you're talking about, was indeed, lazy.🙄
All i use to do is run California 8.75 i never ran out of hours.
Bringing the tandems up even when you're empty helps you be more maneuverable
The guy training the future trainer’s is the child of the ATA President/Maximus Supreme Leader
Don't rely on stickers. Prime best in fleet many consecutive years. Swift award winning drivers, unless it's a razy award. And safety people are knowledgeable about anything. Most are insurance salesman flunkies. They don't have a clue.
I’m a entry level electrician at $20 an hour wow trucking company pays this for 10+ years
Mostly all the 35 companies that I’ve turned down since Jun, 2022 wants their drivers to run hard and be out of hours and reset over the weekends, then start fresh on Monday 😮😲, that’s not Trucking; that’s Suicide. Then they wonder why you can’t drive 50 miles anymore without seeing a truck wreck in the ditches. SMDH 🤨
Radio check
It is only illegal to run the tandems all the way at the back if you get caught! Since all Dan and flatbed trailers have a pneumatic release, it is easy enough pull over before getting to the scale, or getting off to go to a truckstop, readjust the location of the tademsNo way somebody just for tandems is beyond my understanding at this point
You know what this just happened to me yesterday, I always slide my tandems All the Way Forward unless the load don't allow for that, and yesterday I slid my tandems forward I know I did, but for some reason when I got to the truck stop an hour or so later, they were all the way back, kind of freaked me out, I guess I slid them back not realizing it while I was sliding them forward pretty weird...
Hello@ trucking answers do you still have you Monday Chats.😊
Why is it illegal to run tandems all the way back if you are loaded light or empty?
Depending on the states Bridge law
Because you are over length! 41' from the kingpin to the center of the tandems. In Florida $100.00 fine. FYI!
Sounds like Stevie Wonder teaching Ray Charles how to drive 🙄
With Ronnie Milsap providing commentary 😅
Mark, is your hair turns white, you are looking more and more like Santa Claus
Running recaps is the only way you’re going to make any extra money in the trucking industry running your hours all the way out till you have zero
Yep. That's the only way to roll.
This industry is a joke and the joker in the White House.
Bridge laws are only for people who cross bridges...😂
