Im a Viet Nam era vet who was levied to Viet Nam with my Twin Brother, the orders were cancelled do to the winding down of the war 1970-71 or the act that keeps their families from losing the blood line, the Sullivan act may have been used, i'm not sure. I filed for compensation 20 years ago do to injuries that have become worse, i was exposed to alot of Chemicals to burn fecies, and Aspestice as a break tech on tanks and othe vehical, also because i was sent to a camp with out my brother, that made us burn out house crap and fight with BBGun rifles gassed us also this was a test camp that is not in my record, also my injuries to my shoulder and elbo, knee lungs, my painful Arthritis through out my body, and hands are not on record, i was sent back to the Unit i was in with my brother, today at 75 years old there is no record of my military injuries or the TDY at Camp Eagle.I filed for the pact act but have a letter that denies my claim, the reason they say is no record of me at any camp, or basic training injuries, the camp was on the Sac And Fox Reservation in Oklahoma my brother and i are an American Indian, Apache, we where with the 226 maintanence company in the 3rd artillery unit, ive now have only a social security income because when i filed for my right knee injuriy in basic training i receive a pension instead of a military related injury, i fell of an obstical course platform and injured my right knee and ankle i also sustained a head injury, i had that pension for 20 years and when i received my social security at 70 it was taken away from me after 5 years of having SS, it took 5 years to let me know, because they say i made to much money, ive been told it was fraud and that i owed the VA $66400, every day i received threatening letters from the VA, threatening to take my Social Secuity and my disabled 70 year old wifes Social Securiy, it been 5 years since they said i was cheating the VA out of money i didnt earn, now i get a letter telling me that the machine that sends out letters was broken and that they are sorry if this was an inconvinience to us, well the fact is we've not only stressed out about cutting our lively hood in half but losing every thing, i dont have my pension and we no longer have a home or vehical or our savings, we are dependant on our children and brother, why is there no records, ive been denied every thing, i didn't go to Viet Nam but i was willing to, it seems that not going to a war zone puts me below other service members who did, its like being cast as a no body in the VA. That the experiance of being thanked for your service is fake Really?? I give up! my wife has never been taken care of by the VA. I love this Country, there is none better, i would give all to protect it, its the burucrats that i cant stand, the VA is like Congress, there is a ton more ive been through with the VA, they lie they are sneaky and they are useless!

I am the daughter of a vet. Took a loooooong while to find my dad. When i did find him, he was in a nursing facility drugged up so badly that he couldn’t even speak. It was a process to get guidance to be a legal advocate for him. Got him a doctor through the VA. It took 2 months to get him winged off of the wrong & unnecessary meds. I didn’t know diddly about the VA SYSTEM. I went to a family caregiver for veterans seminar. He was sitting at 20% VA benefits. I contacted the D.A.V in D.C. We moved my dad in with us until he felt he was ready to live on his own. It took 5 months to get him to 100%. I truly believe the majority of our precious veterans need help navigating the VA exclusively for each one of our veterans. ITS A FREAKING BEAST!

I'm in the same position and can't get help for my dad or myself. I have no clue where to start, I live with my father so I take care of his needs but getting ChampVA for myself after my mom passed has been a savage mind bleep. I just need some help getting paperwork started he's old and is afraid I won't get his benefits because I have some of his ailments and he isn't getting his Agent Orange pay that he deserves because he was sprayed directly covered in that dust. It's very hard to keep up with him and not have my own health under control. 😢

These benefits can pass on as long as the Veteran died while in service, from a service-connected disability, or if the Veteran was receiving 100% SC benefits for certain periods of time. You did say they may be eligible but there is a lot of misinformation going around about this particular benefit due to the lack of detail when spouses see just a basic info story like this.

Along with DEA aka Chapter 35, a surviving spouse or dependent may qualify for the Fry Scholarship if the veteran died in the line of duty. The Fry Scholarship is basically the Post 911 aka Chapter 33.

As a non-disabled veteran who served for 5 years of active duty it is frustrating to click on a link from the VA proclaiming a “benefit for veterans” only to see/hear/read it “may be” for “certain”, “eligible”, “qualifying” veterans.
Are there benefits for non-disabled, non-wartime veterans who served their country and were honorably discharged? If so could you please give us a place to access, or at least learn about, said benefits without having to guess which ones we qualify for?

Retired Vietnam vet. Exposed to agent orange resulting in multiple melanoma, but held in check... so far! Have 90%, rating and have been trying for years to get to 100%, but it seems impossible. I also have service connected congestive heart failure and even that didn't add up to very much. Yet I know someone who has sleep apnea and he gets 100% and wasn't even in any wars from Iraq, Afghanistan, or anything else. Probably too late for me to even keep on trying, but I applied once more under the Pact Act, but haven't heard back yet. If this doesn't get me to 100% would someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for the video and not really related but I'd love a video on 'priority groups' and how they really work. Not so much what costs the veteran is responsible for but do priority groups influence how soon / far out appointments are scheduled, types of cares received (or approved), etc?
Also does having a primary & private insurance factor in any of the above?
For example, say I was 50/50 needing surgery for an injury vs just PT. Would being a higher (err...lower) priority group mean I was more likely to get approved for surgery? Would having private insurance potentially paying for a lot of surgery also factor into that decision from the VA?

If one of us should die in Germany would it be possible for Veterans help in transportation back to USA and burial in USA - My father is buried in Veterans Cemetery in Florida. That would be our preference for burial??? Just wondering. Also, if we move back to USA - could we get help if we buy a small house??? We have very small Pension - hardly anything and own no home either in Germany or USA???

From what I know, there should be no problem with your burial request as long as you let the VA know where you want to be buried. Obviously, being buried at a Veterans Cemetery would be free; though I'm not sure how much it cost for a private or public cemetery burial.
As for getting a home: the VA has been pushing their low-interest home loans for about five years, and with the current homelessness crisis in the USA, it's trying to do everything it can to get Veterans into affordable housing.
