- There are some places you should park and some you shouldn't. This Sunday Rant is not talking about the side of the road. Not a ramp or anyplace like that. Probably a good and safe spot but what will people think if they saw you there? In an accident, how would you explain having been there? Is there any good reason to be there? I don't think so and that's what I'm talking about today. Where you park can say many thing, some of those things you don't want to be said.
Mark@Truckinganswersnation.com
Truck parking is a rare commodity. You gotta take it where you can find it.
Yes, and all the slob litterbug drivers keep causing us to lose more which can make some of us have to resort to the dreaded paid parking lots 🤑😱
Mark, I agree with you 100%! As a business owner myself I would fire one of my drivers on the spot no questions asked for parking at one of those. I expect my drivers to be as professional as possible at all times and I pay them very well to do so. There are things that we simply cannot do in our industry and parking at a business like that is in the top ten of things we cannot do.
Then u come out and drive
@@dominickjustave3558 -- Already done that in my life. I moved on to bigger and better things.
CDL....MEANS NO DESPENCERY
Hey Mark, so let's do some math. You said you saw them at 11:00. Let's assume that they were at the end of their 10-hour break, meaning they're fixing to leave. Okay, so if they're there at 11:00 in the morning that means they would have arrived there at 1:00 a.m. which means they probably passed those truck stops up because at 1:00 a.m. they were full as a fellow truck driver you should know just as well as I do that. Truck stops are generally full after about 7:00, and if you're lucky, you'll find something between 10:00 p.m. And 5:00 a.m. at a truck stop so they probably went down there because the truck stops were full. It was the only place to park and I don't know about you. But I know if an officer was to pull us over and there was that place to park and we didn't park we would get a ticket maybe take in into consideration how long they've been there before ranting about oh well you passed up the truck. Stop well yeah at 1:00 in the morning 2:00 in the morning there aren't any spots. I can understand the why. maybe parking at the dispensary isn't the best place to park, but when you're out of hours and there's no other place to park, you're going to park where you have to because that officer that is going to pull you over. Isn't going to care whether it was a dispensary or not. There was available parking you should have parked
I'm from the pork capitol there, I agree it looks bad but that dispensary is next to a strip mall with Buffalo wild wings. So let's hope he is getting his wild wings lol
We called it Effingburg years ago.
I always park in front of a bar for my 30 minute break. In the bar for five beers and back on the road!
Haha, well,an old timer co-worker truck driver , when I was a trucker, told me they used to stop at a bar, eat and have a few beers, than jump back in the truck and commence driving, and, there were a few breweries in Philly when the trucker was being unloaded in the drivers waiting area they had taps for having a few cold ones, and it was free, this was many years ago! Now, forget it !
Well Mark, There is a dispensary in Ontario Oregon on i-84 right next to the Love's.. I'm not sure about every day but a few times I'll be there at the Love's I'll be seeing the police there at the dispensary.
Hey Mark, I know it looks bad but this is likely the answer. CBD products like oils or topicals are fine under dot and fmcsa regs. As a truck driver though it’s important to ensure the product you use does not contain THC. The best place to ensure quality CBD products so you don’t accidentally test for THC is a professional dispensary. Other products at gas stations and such have been found to have larger amounts of THC than advertised, so in order to be safe the best place to buy CBD is a dispensary.
They should go there when they are off duty and in their car, just not a good look!
That is why post accidents testing is a thing
We got a Fix It Again Tony rental while our car was being fixed....worst car I've ever been in.
That’s normally how my thought process goes, if I stop there even for a few minutes what could be said and I accused of even though I didn’t go in and buy anything
Mark, my company now delivers cannabis in 18 wheelers all throughout California, Nevada and New York. We cannot cross the state line but the delivery is sent out to each and every store in those states. Yes inside a 18 wheeler 15 trucks constantly rolling up and down the highway. It’s like a alcoholic driving a beer truck. Same DOT rules. Apply.
OH😂😂😂😂 your open was THE BEST😂😂😂😂
I prefer parking at The Loins Den😂😂😂😂
HELLO MARK.....LONG TIME .....
Anyone remember the "Bobber" truck stop around there in the early 90's? I love Italian Trucking Answers!❤
The Bobber was a great place to eat !
Yes, I stopped in there often. Those werre the days. Rememeber the T/A on the south side? @@AmishEcstasy
Taverns are still with walking distance of a lot of truck stops. Almost every truck stop sells alcohol. Alcohol is a lot worse than weed.
My company won’t even let me park at casinos.
Your company SUCKS then!!!
They don't want you blowing your already small pay check and then asking them for an advance 😂
That sucks
I actually tell my boss when I goto a casino...
he just says "good luck!"
good lighting, good parking, food, toilets, security and gambling... PERFECT!!!
@@MacXtc they didn’t mention strip clubs or dispensaries though. 😂
Better to park there then at the fuel island taking your 10hr break .... yes they do that at the dam fuel pump and what you think when it's 5am and they need a place to park 9am or 11am doesn't mean anything mark if they needed parking at 5 or 6am their 10 hour isn't up untill 1500/16000hrs... you make a validated point i agree with you but if they're there just to park there no harm in that you don't know if they were inside that business or not
As the “proud”owner of a Fiat 500l, I approve of this message. However, my car is less reliable than the x
There are a couple of truck stops in Oregon with dispensaries in their parking lot. I just cannot wrap my mind around that.
And for those of you that own a Jeep renegade and talk smack wit the 500x? I’ve some bad news for you
What's to stop someone from parking at a nearby truck stop and walking to the "green" house? 😂
Nothing at all and there’s no doubt in my mind that some driver’s do it,if not for their own use then picking some up for family or friends
What's to stop someone? How about regulations. You are not allowed to have it in the truck!!!! You are not allowed to use it!!!!! What part of that is difficult to understand. If you need to smoke or drink, then get out of trucking. There are enough bad drivers out there now.
@@dennisbradt7447 plenty of sober drivers are terrible ... and plenty of drivers that partake of intoxicants are excellent (when not using of course)
When I worked for a major LTL carrier doing P&D one of our customers was a dispensary and grow house. I hated going there and made sure my TM knew what this customer was. We supplied dirt and fertilizers but my clothes smelled of reefer for most of the day.
I smoke it man i can drive all day all night ...cmon man it comes from the earth man 😂
Devil's lettuce.
I have to admit, I've never heard that one before.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That saying is so fucking old im sure your grandparents have heard it.....was their generation that coined that term
I don't care if they sell pot, if they got a place that I can park I'm going to park there.
Hey, mark is it OK to park next to the nude bar?
I smell dlc almost daily in truck stops these days😂
Mark has been out there a bit longer than me. I remember back in the day you could get away with stuff like this. Even had some truckstops that had bars attached to them.. just stumble back to the truck and get a good nights sleep before you hit the road. I don’t do any kind of drugs, so it’s not an issue for me. That includes alcohol..
TRUE: In Nebraska and the Dakotas , I've seen several Truckstops with Cantinas/Bars inside...
I stop there because I'm stupid.
Where they hauling product? Just trying to be optimistic. However multiple trucks? I don't think so. They actually have their own trucks for that. I know this because my wife works at one.
I don't believe it either Mark
When they fail a drug test then we can talk. It doesn't make no difference until then. We park at truck stops that sell beer and other alcoholic beverages as well so what does that mean??
What? There was a dispensary there?
When I was at Swift, they fired someone for buying beer.
They have a zero tolerance policy
Good evening from marion nc.
Hey Mark, don't be so quick to judge.
Like non-alcoholic beer, maybe they have a non THC variety of marijuana. 🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼
Most CBD has no THC in it. CBD is great for sore joints, backs, etc. Works great for alot of people I know. 👋
There's a dispensary right next to the Love's in Ontario Oregon. What do you say in that case?
A lot of porn houses (houses of porn maybe?) Have truck parking.
👍✌
I guess you dont need to park at the Loves in Ontario, OR.
Have not been there in years is there a dispensary nearby?
or the Love's in Sioux City (next to the "Red-Eye" bar) ...
Is there a law about having porn in the truck....because that could be a distraction too?
Wouldn't the drivers be drug tested after the accident? If there is expected drug use the cops may be able to search the vehicle at the same time. Both of those options would give a good indication on what the driver was doing there.
Otherwise, I agree with you 100%. Drivers should not be parking in places where there could be implied impropriety.
Drug testing is not necessarily mandatory after a accident it depends on your company’s policy and or if somebody went to hospital or property damage is extremely high
@alfpedersen2201 Yes, of course. I was showing my own bias and basing this policy from my own experience as a company driver.
@@darrelwest1056 Gotcha 👍,I’m not perfect I’ve had a couple fender benders in 18 years never been tested yet but they were very minor accidents fortunately
Just like parking at a strip club! DON'T DO IT!
I despise pot and pot-heads. However, the evidence that marijuana negatively affects driving is surprisingly weak or non-existent. This is partly due to the fact that someone under the influence of marijuana will drive remarkably slow. If there was any strong evidence against pot use and driving, there would be studies that show it increases accidents like alcohol does. But such strong evidence has not ever been found. Just because we grew up in a world where we hated hating all the sub-human hippies who were growing pot and using it while promoting everything that was pro-USSR and anti-American is no reason that we can't re-examine the wisdom of restricting something that does not cause vehicle accidents and is less harmful than booze.
sub-human hippies who were growing pot and using it while promoting everything that was pro-USSR and anti-American...
REALLY, I MEAN REALLY!!! ... SEE YA AT THE KLAN RALLY
Hey dude I’m very pro pot legalization, but I’m also a DRE certified police officer. Marijuana very much impairs the ability of someone to drive safely and I arrest people for it all the time. Contrary to popular belief statistics show the highest percentage of pot dui arrest stemmed from a traffic stop for speeding. Also there are plenty of studies that show marijuana increases risk of injury and fatal accidents similar to alcohol. I’ll gladly send you the studies if you would like.
I also despise hippies
I’m sick of the drivers walking in the truck stop smelling like a skunk from all the dope they smoked in the truck I don’t care if you smoke weed until it kills you but when you do it and you drive your Attempting to kill someone else if you have that big of a pothead Maybe trucking is it for you
I really think you're reaching on this one, Mark.
who cares the pay sucks in trucking. I plan on smoking till i get caught and then do something else. If you want professional then the pay needs to be professional otherwise im going to treat this just like any other bullshit job i dont care about.
