It is fun to see people entering the trucking field… Ive been doing it for 32 years so far, it has changed a LOT, but yet, you still drive, move freight. Biggest thing I can say is dont rage quit, dont do things impulsively, that includes while driving. Let everyone else be the idiot assholes who end up being featured on youtube bad drivers. Moved over to liquid bulk in 2019 then became a TE until I left them in 2021. I'm now driving for a local ISO/Intermodal company in New Orleans. Home nightly and off weekends. I retired from SNI in 2016 after 21 years and just short of 3 million safe miles. Learn the basics and regulation compliance from SNI. After about 2 years you will be ready to move on if you've maintained a safe driving record. Trouble with SNI is they will treat you like a rookie despite your age or experience. Believe me the grass is greener across the fence.
How did you do 21yrs with SNI? rookie or veteran driver, they do treat everyone like a rookie. I don't understand why drivers stay there for a long time.
I only lasted 4 years with SNI. The managers lying made me leave. Last straw was driving to deliver a load on a Saturday, manager said they would unload me, however receiving was closed. Manager told me to wait while he called the receiver, then called me and told me a lady named Susan said they would take the load. When I tried again and told them that Susan said to let me into the docks they responded with Susan hadn’t worked there in the last 3 months. Management are lying S O B s

I quit driving trucks in 2012 and it’s changed a lot since then too! I was still running loose leaf paper log in 2012. I don’t even know how to use these computer E logs 🤷🏼♂️. I been thinking about going back but I’m not sure now
Every day is a learning experience i have been a professional truck driver since 1979 , this is a very good video just remember to be safe and healthy lifestyle and respectful to all other vehicles on the road 🙏🏽😎 Every day is a blessing and learning experience 💯
Hey bro, how you feel about being only one week with a trainer. Most companies do 3 to 4 weeks over the road, and Schnider being the few that does 1 week over the road. I personally feel 1 week on the road is not enough when you are new.
I personally feel like they could do more than one week with a trainer. I definitely learned a lot being out within that one week, however taking that information out with me on my own has become a game of "remembering" rather than "repetition". Here's the thing though, if you don't feel comfortable after 1 week of training, you definitely have the ability to let your driver leader and trainer know that you definitely need more time training, and they will assign you another week of training. Christian, the girl I was training with, decided that she needed more training time and she requested to go out with another trainer. So Schneider is sending her out with another trainer. I hope this helps bro! Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
I’m here in Missouri as well I tried to go to Schneider school but they said they didn’t have any schools available in my area I would have drove there, but I ended up at Roadmaster’s 10 minutes from home and still able to work my normal job, but I just want some experience at the company I ended up choosing I told her I never been on a plane a day in my life she said “noted” I don’t plan on it no time soon alone
The siskiyou pass is definitely beautiful man. Haven't been over it much in the winter. It sucks what happens. But like you said when one door closes another one opens. I'm not sure where you are. But working for a small company imo is a lot better than mega carries. Granted I've been local since I got my cdl. I personally like local better so I can be home with my family at night. Where I work now I'm gone for one night here and there, plus I get the weekends off
Thiki, thanks for the info its pretty intresting,as a non trucker i hope to learn to drive truck one day,so keep on shearing your journey with me ,i am learning from you.Keep on trucking safely.

I hope you didn't try and explore the area around that hotel in Phoenix after you finished your week. I was glad to be out of there afterwards. Spent 3 almost 4 weeks there and wont ever again
I've heard people getting mugged and robbed around the hotel in Phoenix. The Uber driver told me that area was terrible and had a bad drug problem. I was only there for the night and my flight was at 5am the following morning, so I didn't have any time to explore. Glad I didn't too be honest 😂
I'm an older lady, who has thought about getting a CDL for the last 2 yrs. I'm single with no kids. I wouldn't want to do this full time ( 60-70+hrs. week). I want to have some semblance of a life. Honestly, I'd be scared driving on mountain or steep roads. Especially on ice/snow. I moved to a small town recently where some of the roads are extremely steep and it scares the bejeezus out of me. I work well by myself and really enjoy driving and I am a safe driver. I can't afford to waste the nearly $5,000 to get a CDL so can I ask some of the older drivers out there if they think it's worth it to get a CDL if you only want to drive part time. Also, please tell me how you go to the bathroom in your truck if you really need to. I have no problem asking because I want/need to know. I'm not a real girly girl, but I do like to keep clean and fresh. Thanks everyone.
Hey Carol - I don't have info for you since I am just getting into trucking. I'm 57 and have had a Class B CDL for about 20 years. Just decided this spring to take the plunge into class A. The way I look at it is I'm going to give a one year commitment to a local trucking company with an excellent reputation. If I absolutely hate the distance hauls that will end my commitment. If I love it, I'll continue on. If I end it, I can go to local hauling. So for me I look at it as a great experience. As for bathrooms, I live with a composting toilet now and have for the last four years so I have no problem carrying a small one in my truck.
Did you all pick up on this important detail !!,,,,,??? They not running over night Teams.... Hes training 2 at a time and shutting it down... Thats how its supposed to be. I cant sleep in the back of a bouncing truck. This is super important! That is awesome
Ooooo buddy as somebody that used to work in Loss Prevention at a Hotel/Resort I can tell you that those kids have just cost those parents and the hotel A LOT of money and have a permanent mark on their stay now. If they ever visit that same "brand" of hotel everybody is going to see that note attached and they'll more than likely be kicked out and banned from all locations in the future if there's ANY sort of trouble or complaint about them again no matter how small.
Glad you caught that! I quit smoking over a year ago, so my nose was not used to the second hand smoking anymore. My nostrils were burning by the end of the week! 😂😂 thanks for the subscription brother!

I noticed you guys stayed in a hotel to sleep, was that always the case when you were training? Will you be doing any team driving during your training, like sleeping in the truck while someone is driving? I had such a hard time sleeping in the bunk while someone was driving. I couldn't sleep and ended up quitting after 3 nights of no sleep.

Good content. I’m with Schneider Intermodal in Houston…..regional driver. Big ups to yal! ✊🏾💯✊🏾

Love your video, you cracked me up , when you said that you weren't leaving your stuff 😅😂❤❤❤
thnx for this trucking vlog buddy, i’ve always wanted to try out to work as a truck driver for at least a year or too and see if i love it.. i just work as a School Bus Driver atm, watching from Regina Canada..
Great videos man I love the content. For a while now I been thinking about getting my CDL and watching your videos inspired me to do it! Keep up the great work 👍
Excellent video, appreciate y'all for taking this video! I am going with Schneider orientation in Arkansas in 2 wks.
wow 3 people you got trained at the right time bad weather
Yup, definitely had the advantage with that! Got the practice in bad weather with an experienced driver in the passenger seat lol

Thank you brother this was great. I graduate from trucking school in a month and I like Schneider
Yeah bro I did 2 weeks driving for Walmart with my Schneider TE in Chicago 🤮🤮 So glad now that I'm on my own as an new OTR driver they don't send me places like that or LA. They send us the easy dispatches until we're ready
This was something I was worrying about. Thank you for clarifying.
Tiki awesome video ! Hope it’s working out well for you!
You're lucky they got you a flight. I had to go greyhound and it took nearly two fricken days.
Best of luck there driver. I remember picking up my truck and spending some time at the AZ OC. It's a pretty new one. The hotel was good too as I remember that one as well
Good job Tman. I'm a former trucker from the mid 90's and I'm thinking about driving trucks again. Things have sure changed since 1996! Peace!!
Thank you Tom! I was told, once you've fallen in love with the road, it seems to always pull you back in! Things definitely have changed, some for the better and some for the worst! Thanks for watching Tom!

I quit driving trucks in 2012 and it’s changed a lot since then too! I was still running loose leaf paper log in 2012. I don’t even know how to use these computer E logs 🤷🏼♂️. I been thinking about going back but I’m not sure now

Cool, it was nice to see what happens on A driver trainer week.
Every day is a learning experience i have been a professional truck driver since 1979 , this is a very good video just remember to be safe and healthy lifestyle and respectful to all other vehicles on the road 🙏🏽😎 Every day is a blessing and learning experience 💯
That was a great video thank you for the update on trucking good job 👍 keep the videos coming stay safe
Thank you KING ARTHUR, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
They should make you do 6 months with a trainer can't learn everything in one week you can't even learn the basics in one week
@@davecramer9725 6 months!?? WTF !!!! Maybe 6 weeks
@@Thatpnwtruckerdid y’all drive all over the US in that one week, or did y’all stay in one area and how long did you drive for everyday?
Did nyc once never will again. Did Chicago a number of times definitely better drive alert but it’s not too bad.
Hope you do well and stay safe. Your job is often overlooked I think. Vital work for the USA. God Speed brother!

3 in a truck, wow super crowded in that cab ! Hopefully everything worked out well. 🚛
It definitely was crowded, but in the end it worked out perfectly! I'm finally in my own truck and on the road solo now!
I see a driver, jump seat and one in the bunker but I didn't see a safety net. You will want to make sure that is up.
Then
Your doing Grapvine too. Awesome. Another great learning lesson for your 2nd mile.
Good luck k brother. I had a little over 1 million miles before switching careers. I do stay up on the times as I am about to retire again. I have been thinking about coming back to driving but not sure. Don't want anything FULL Time. I am 51 and have been working some form of employment since age 7. I think I am done with full time.
Stay safe out there and just know it's going to take you 2 to 5 years to understand the job and the many opportunities out there. One word of advice, Don't get talked into an owner operator think with any company. Stay a company driver and save your money. If you ever want to own you own trucking company, get your own authority and buy your own Truck / Trailer and do it yourself. You will make more in the long run.
Good Luck
Congrats man I should be testing in the next month! Thanks for the vid
Dude, What a great video. Loved it. Thinking about Schneider. Just got CDL Monday.

@@kevinortega735 they have a top gun program that is top of the food chain as far as training goes. They keep you as busy as you want to be with great miles. There is a safe driving program that pays you almost a 1000 dollars extra every month. They let you be the captain of your own ship meaning they don't force you to do anything. 24/7 support to help with whatever problems you experience on the road.

Great video, really enjoyed it, great information. Thinking of going with Schneider in April.you do an excellent job of videotaping.
Hey Mack, if you go with Schneider in April. Just remember...no videotaping, cellphone etc on the truck when in motion. Grounds for dismissal.
When you have to use it just pull in a rest area or truck stop and use it.
Ann B Davis (Alice) from Brady Bunch did it.
Did you all pick up on this important detail !!,,,,,??? They not running over night Teams.... Hes training 2 at a time and shutting it down... Thats how its supposed to be. I cant sleep in the back of a bouncing truck. This is super important! That is awesome

Lmao Seattle to Portland is like a 2 and half-hour drive
This was Good, It didn't look Stressful.
I was nervous at first but it was definitely a lot more relax than I anticipated!
Great job, enjoyed the video!
Bobtail is just like driving a dump truck with an empty bed watch getting on the brakes hard so that means pay attention

Well I want to start the same Schneider is a great company to learn with for sure I was with them for my first year except for I was local. Also kind of a mistake but there’s a story behind that. So I am going to be going back with Schneider now I have to get a crash course in a we can training again while I’m also saving up for my authority but baby steps your video was amazing just be safe always remember keep a good distance between you and other cars you’re gonna do great

1 week with trainer seems like not enough time.
No blind side backing?
I am attempting to get the ball rolling on CDL.
CDL is going to be 💯 percent free. I am receiving help from a State Agency that supposed to pay for training.

When I was with my TE we got to choose which hotel we stayed at for the night based on how far we could drive each day.
Thanks for the video T ! ✊🏽
So you don’t sleep on the trainers bunk? I get my CDL next month and planning on going with Schneider. If that’s the case, I’m excited about training lol. I’m not a fan of LIVING with someone
Did you feel one with TE was enough driving for you ? Can you ask for more time with TE ? Thanks
Hey man, I’m thinking of going to Schneider for my first job. I’m curious how the sleeping arrangements go while you’re on the road with the trainer?
One bunk everybody just stack on top of each other a lovely time🍆🍆
I couldn't ever get sleep in a motel my boss would always wanna pay for me one when I'm sitting a few days and I'd never take it just can't sleep in them my truck is always comfortable than motels lol stay safe bro
I am surprised they let you smoke in the truck.
