I started with Schneider in 2015 over the road. I'd say my paychecks ranged from $400 to 2000 that year and I ended the year making about 60k not including the bonus and tuition reimbursement. But I worked my butt off. Out for months on end and very little time off. I stayed with them for years. Now I work a dedicated account. Pull about $75k and take 1 week off every 3 weeks of work. If I didn't do that, I'd easily break 90k. Now looking to move to a Walmart account that should pay about $100k.
The money is there for company drivers even at mega carriers like Schneider. Though, I'm sure there's better money out there. Sometimes it is the intangibles. I've always had a great relationship with my leaders and Schneider is reminiscent of the military in some aspects. I like that.
Sticking around at one carrier also leads to a modest increase in cents per mile and 3 weeks of paid vacation time as of my 7 year mark. Nope, it's not the highest paying gig. But it'll do.

Was looking to go to the orange company after all my research but needed that one person who explained and showed everything which was you. I went got all my training (BTW my trainers at Charlotte actually knew of you and liked your videos, Even said they were sad not to have their own riding with Dave for the orange company also they really loved your good vibe and truthfulness) I been on the road for a month now with them, I run hard so I do about 2700-3000 miles 37 est contract which gives my 900 to 1000+. Everything is good just when you've to talk to dispatch or dtl, The orange company paid me multiple detention pays for their delays and mistakes. I have offers (55 to 60ish cpm, orange is 45 rn)to leave but sticking for experience until my contact is up probably. I recommend orange company for training but leave decently quick type. Love watching where you started and see where your going, It's like your a mentor, Showing all the steps before I get there. I appreciate it

I just got out of CDL school and getting ready to go to orientation with Schneider. My decision was based on their additional training and working with a trainer on the road, which is valuable experience I’m looking forward to. I know in a year or two I’ll be able to get more out of my job but right now it’s all about gaining experience. I’m getting hired on a regional account that will have me out 4 weeks and home 5 days. It’s going to be a lot but like I said the experience, I believe, will be valuable for my future. Plus, for me, the pay is double what I was making so I’m not too worried about pay right now. I’ll still be making a livable wage and be on my way to better things.

You mentioned being live load in this video. That was one of my favorite things was live load and live unload because it gave me some time to chill and put my feet up for a bit. One of my live loads went from 1:00 pm to 3:00 am no lie. It was Element Electronics in NC. They scheduled me for Memorial Day but they were closed. As well as several other truckers. My appointment was at 1 pm. By the time they had caught all of us up, it was 3 am and I was leaving. That was the only one I did not care for. But the short ones gives me time to do any paperwork or something.

So, I've been here and there getting screwed over and over but I've finally found something local Tanker Enedible raw meat material. Home on 34 hr. resets but I'm thinking of going part time as well back to my cabbage hauling job doing paper logs, I'm supposed to be making more then 1600 a week but I haven't seen that yet. I run 3 loads a week dedicated to Columbus, OH to Wilson NC. at .51 cents a mile. The Cabbage Company was dedicated to Newfane NY, local Walmart DC Runs, to Georgia and Florida making a consistent 1,445 a week. which was insane. I only left because I was having breakdowns issues every week for the last 2 months I hit ton of bad luck even hitting a deer in the 18 speed international knocking out the driver side headlight. I can't win. I'm 25 I've been driving for 3 years now. Dealing with all the bs young drivers deal with. Keep up the content Tiki!

I been local since I've gotten my cdl and make decent money at the places I've worked. I make about 3,400 a month on a good month. But I also get paid hourly. If you wanna stay local find a union gig around your area and you'll make money man. I worked a union gig last summer and made 28-29 an hour. There's stuff out there. Good luck brother

I agree with a lot of what you're saying here. I plan on trying to get on with Schneider as my first gig trucking purely for experience. I'm not sure if anyone can do it but I am looking into their paid CDL training which I hope is an option for me. Ideally, I'd get my CDL sponsored by them, sign a contract to work with them for a certain amount of time and go from there. Maybe at the end of the contract I will manage to find a better paying job with a smaller company. My end game is a lot like yours, and probably a lot of other truckers, I want to end up as an owner-operator doing my own thing.
Anyway, love the videos! I started watching your videos not too long ago and I went through every one of them after I found your channel. It really makes me feel more prepared for when I finally start my journey in this industry.

I started there in 1995 and was able to transfer my five years with JB so I came in at almost top pay scale. I'd start at Swift or CFI. I make 35/hr overtime after 8 hours, overtime on saturdays. Double time after 12 hours, double time on sundays. Working more than 50+ hours a week. Home every night. Work at a mine site but looking into trucking. Got my CDL through my company; had it for about 4 years. Gonna get my tanker and hazmat endorsements . Watched some of your videos. Good insight. Looks like I have it made where I’m at but I’m bored of my job. 💀

As a driver of almost 10 years who works for the Big Old D in LTL, get your endorsements when you're comfortable. Whether you come into LTL work or fuel hauling/hazmat Hauling in general, you're going to make better money than a lot of folks who have degrees and mountains of debt. However get that experience first and if you're not comfortable with hazmat, flat bedding, which I did for a few years is an awesome avenue of trucking. At the end of the day experience is key in this industry. But if you have the ability to earn your endorsements, you're going to make yourself a lot more marketable to a lot more companies even if they don't haul hazmat material.

Great advice. I have hardly any experience, but went ahead and got my hazmat/tanker knowing that I may leave a lot of extra money on the table by not getting them.

Yeah Tiki. Good seeing new content. The industry is going to be upside down for awhile. Some companies hiring anyone with a pulse, the Fed is looking to reduce or eliminate HOS requirements for some or all drivers, in certain fields. Tanker, oil field and livestock drivers particularly. But, the standard still is and should be experience. Merit should be part of the equation, but favoritism still gets in the way. When I stopped drinking 40cpm was good. Now I don't think 50cpm is decent. Hourly or union drivers getting 25 dph is probably low. A local or dedicated run is a good deal though. Stay safe Brother
