Drove the truck for the first time today and logged my first 22 (safe) miles of my career in the city. I’m absolutely loving it! My homeboy got some regular mini fridge, it's pretty big though and it's lasted him the year, I'm jealous he fits so much food in there he never has to eat out or find a walmart

I’m 19 years old & I live in Indiana… I started school on the 14th(yesterday) to get my Class A CDL. You give me a lot of inspiration and I really look up to you as a big brother. I have wanted to drive a truck since I was 15 and I’ve had my mind set to driving a truck & since Indiana changed the law to 18 year olds being able to get their licenses im pursuing my dream. I will only be able to drive locally and I won’t be able to drive across state lines until I get a certain amount of training hours and then I can go out on my own but for now I’m going to drive locally because i have a daughter on the way. I’m going to get my experience now so when I turn 21 I can get into a better paying job and I’ll feel a lot more comfortable driving as well. Today I took my tests to get my permit and passed them first try and man am I excited! Thanks for the great content that you have and you’re going to have a great future ! Just wanted to mention you said something about a Walmart fridge on the truck not being a great idea, however, I've never had an issue and mine have lasted at least a year before any issues arise. Only difference is had mine Rachel strapped into place maybe give that try if you don't have a different solution

Hopefully a W2 one will come up. Until then I'm applying with an Amazon freight partner just to get my 3-6 months exp.
Got my cdl when I was 18.. got 3 years of dump truck experience then went to a local driving job.. MDI. They are amazing. Home everyday, 90k a year, pension, Health, 401k.. love my job, been here 6 years now..

I have read that videos of 15-20 minutes length are ideal as long enough to tell story but short enough to not take too long to watch. Hopefully you have or get an actual truck GPS as phone is good for assisting but not as primary.

Super happy you found a family to drive for👍🏽I just started local driving with CRST and they are the worst🤦🏽♀️ I was supposed to start at 6am now they moved me and another new driver to 10am and now it’s moved agin to 12. They operate of seniority and sucks to feel like your just replacing any spot that’s missing. Can’t wait till I can get more experience and move on!

You need to watch your passenger side mirror more often. It may seem superfluous when your in the right lane, but you just never know... ANYTHING can happen on the road, even on the shoulder. I once got passed by a BMW who was driving in the ditch just to get past me...
@@Thatpnwtrucker I had noticed the same thing but hadn’t mentioned it as compared to some other drivers who have head mounted cameras, you’re not looking right as much as they do. Yes, your eyes might go right but a bit of head rotation seems needed based on those others.

I would park at a truck stop and then ask after. trucker path near places around you. most people aren't okay with semis. Western states can be rough. make sure you plan your routes, stay on as many interstates as you can!

I remember I use to pretend I was a trucker talking on a CB in this old truck that didn’t run. But for whatever reason I never did anything about it. Just worked in warehouses most of my life. Welcome back Tiki! HEy real quick, Ive been very interested in getting my CDL very soon, what is the transition like? Mostly with being away from family for exteneded amount of times
My experience. First week was alright. Second week I was starting to feel it. Third week I was ready to go home. The trainers I had were both awesome. I went with a regional home weekly and sometimes during the week.
Some tips for you as you build the channel. Do not use a body mounted camera. Use multi cameras and edit your voice over the video. In the event you are in an accident, a plaintiff's attorney can say you were distracted driving.
So I've had my CDL A for 1 week now. Any advice on how to go about getting work. The MEGA carriers don't pay very well and I have a family to take care of.

Not a driver but based on all that I have read and heard, the bigger the company, the lower the pay as there’s more overhead.
