Thus was the best video that explained everything I needed to know about what to look forward to. I go to Schneider on 2/26/24. Thanks for the heads up
Good first video and breakdown of what to expect. Hope all is going well for you, and I’m looking forward to some more, equally informative videos. Motor safely!
You are so right! I just finished training in west memphis Arkansas and the trainers there are very good. I have had a very good experience there and I'm so glad I went.
Hey, I’m looking at Schneider too and I’m in Texarkana….i saw they had a CDL training school 3 hours from me in Wilmer, Texas…..do you recommend I come to West Memphis? Also since I’m new driver going through the CDL training program do they care about work history when hiring you?
I went to the training facility in Atlanta georgia and they treat you like children there.i quit after the first week.best decision I ever made in my life.
Thanks Mike I spent 30 years in IT for fortune 500 company. I actually made very good money. But as you know IT is overwhelmingly stressful. Your locked behind a desk every day. I spent 23 years in a job that I absolutely hated. So I retired and now looking for something that gets me out of the house and seeing all the stuff I missed being chained to a desk. I've been working on my CDL and am seriously looking at Schneider for training. Thanks for your video!
IT is why I look young for my age - hours and hours without seeing any sun. Come in to the office early and leave after dark. Software is still a fun hobby, the collaborative corporate projects on global teams and never meeting any of them is strange to me.
I've worked for Schneider for almost 2 yrs now. It's not a bad job at all. Dispatch is there to help you but you're gonna learn a lot by yourself. A lot of drivers leave after they get comfortable but some come back. I myself have left and went to CR England and I came back to Schneider. Not saying CR England was bad but I prefer Schneider. The account I work for doesn't hound me and my Dispatch is very nice and helpful and they're there for you. If you are looking to get hands on experience without the pressure from someone constantly looking over your shoulder, then Schneider is the place to be. That's just my opinion. Someone else might say something different. They pay isn't great but you can get all the experience you want comfortably once you're on your own.
I’m scheduled to go to Schneider orientation at Indianapolis in March, how is the lounging conditions? I was told that by people on Reddit that we would have to have a roommate ? Was that true for you?
Better hope your collision device doesn't malfunction cause if it does it's going to cause injury to you and they'll put the blame on you and throw you under the bus.

Here’s the deal on that. In training, absolutely not. Their policy is that hands free is still distracted driving, which I agree with, to a point. Beyond that, the FMCSA says you can, but only a “one button press” to answer/make calls. However, if you’re in an accident, or get a “critical event” (hard brake, etc..) and they find out, you may be called in for a conversation, or worse. I just got back from my training run, and I can promise you, that until you have some experience under your belt, you won’t WANT to have a headset unless you’re parked. There is so much to be focused on while driving, especially if you drive using Schneider’s S.M.A.R.T driving techniques. Add to that traffic in the bigger cities, construction on almost every highway/interstate, and your focus needs to be 100% on the road.
It’s what you make of it. I’ve been around the industry for the better part of my life, and never once did I ever hear or see any of my family express any regret.
Wrong I know a first year Schneider driver about to finish his first year and he’s going to end up making 65 grand…..he started off at 44 CPM and worked up to 47 CPM and you also get paid by other things that Schneider does and other companies don’t like CFI
I just spoke to someone on the phone the regional route they have posted in my area pays 39 CPM at Schneider . Swift says they start at 43cpm and after 3 months and 6 months you get step raises. 6 months they said pay will be 50cpm.
I really enjoyed the way you did this video. Thank you very much!

What happened with the driving job
Do they let you have handsfree headphones
