People refuse to pay $36 for a liter of actual professional shampoo or conditioner that has been proven to help promote healthy hair with tons of legit reviews from actual clients... but they will spend $99 on this bs. Hmmmm... definitely sketchy! That’s the whole reason I done research before I decided to try or sell this. I’ll stick with my professional brands that have actually transformed my hair.

    • @phoebehalls5213

Celia Hughes if you’ve really done your research you would know that 1) $99 is a starting selling price which CAN go lower by flash sales or vip enrollment 2) that $99 I consider ‘liquid gold’ is more valuable than salon priced hair treatment products pumped with harsh chemicals like-kerastase, fekkai, biolage, paul mitchell, sebastian, and believe me i tried all of those. 3) if you gave their products a try as part of your ‘research’ you’ll probably change your mind. Point is, there are way more people that benefited from the product vs those that are complaining. Just saying...

I've been using MONAT for a while now and these products are best I used and I have used before other premium brands selling at same prices. They seem to be pricey but they're very concentrated and a bottle lasts for about 3 months so it's not really expensive in overall. But everyone makes their own choices and I respect that

Any human can react to absolutely anything and become allergic to it, it is unfortunate, but absolutely no one's fault.

    • @ItsMe-cz4nn
      @ItsMe-cz4nn 4 года назад +5

Guacamo-Lei Unless that company is using known allergens like Red Clover, which is known to react with chemicals also in the product. Which is why you have all the lawsuits. Because it’s MOST DEFINITELY the company’s fault. Also, having an allergic reaction is very different than having a myriad of women whose hair is falling out and who are experiencing open, oozing, and bloody sores on their heads. I’ve never met ANYONE who had reactions like that to matrix or redkin or an actual professional product. (Which Monat is not). Hence the lawsuits. And that is the real issue.
MLM’s are not about the product. They’re about making money off the down lines. You can not make good money in any MLM unless you recruit and build a team. Which is why the FTC warns against them and which is why they are called pyramid schemes. This is also why people call them predatory. 95-99% (according to the FTC) of people in an MLM make nothing or lose money.
The 1% reap the benefits and the rest are *#%*!.
So Please, if a company wants YOU to pay THEM to become a salesperson/marketing exec (and I’m sorry but no, you’re not a business owner. You don’t own that MLM) and the company isn’t going to pay you an hourly wage, please run! The odds are (unless you’re a 1%-er) you’ll make pennies on the hour and you’re worth more than that! Your hard work is worth an actual income.
Beyond all this nastiness, and back to the original comment, any company who treats their customers, who have a bad reaction to their product, like this is a huge red flag. They care nothing for the customer because the customer isn’t the focus of the MLM. The pyramid structure is.

    • @leahanduiza5943
      @leahanduiza5943 5 лет назад +13

This video is incorrect in using the term "detox." Some people have used this term, but most use "transition" and it actually refers to REMOVING build-up from your hair follicles and the hair shaft. That is what a good clarifying shampoo does. All of Monat's shampoos do remove build up and don't add any back in, which is rare for hair products across the board: natural, salon brands or whatever. Almost ALL add silicones, waxes and gums to the hair to promote a shiny, healthy feeling but will destroy the hair and cause thinning over time. That is just the way build up works. The "detox" that is referred to here is simply the removal of bulid-up. When they speak of this, it is just the "detox" of the scalp, and most people do not use that word to avoid confusion. So before slamming a product claiming to "detox" your body, maybe check to make sure it's actually making that claim. Monat isn't.

I became a Monat Market Partner in February, I am also a Cosmetology instructor and stylist. I became skeptical when all the bad reviews came out and watched a video where the chemist said there are small amounts of sodium hydroxide in the products. I questioned other market partners of course they know nothing about hair, why on earth would they put that in shampoo? Well I used the product up until last week when I started getting red bumps and my hair was falling out in handfuls, and went back to Nioxin to help fix the mess that was my hair and also had 3 inched cut off because the ends looked like they were in a meat grinder! Needless to say I do not recommend this product, and I didn't sell very much of it but now I feel bad for the people I did sell it too! I totally agree with your testimonial!

I am so sorry this happened to you and so many. I hope your hair is doing better.

Now after 2 1/2 months of using, I’m noticing hair breakage all around my hairline and a bit throughout my hair. I’ve never had that before. Also, it is always dry from mid shaft to ends no matter what combination of products I use. I’ve tried a bunch. Im going to buy a salon grade shampoo/conditioner and see what the difference is. Another popular product has sodium hydroxide in their conditioners. I started noticing my hair getting straighter and straighter and I could no longer wear my afro. I was appalled when I noticed it had sodium hydroxide listed rather towards the beginning. Now, some product lines say that adding sodium hydroxide in small amounts will not harm the hair and the ph is balanced out blah blah blah. It straightened my afro and that is not a good thing.

This video was extremely helpful. I saw a new stylist yesterday, (a friend of the family) and I loved the way she styled hair but she was a Monat market partner! The whole time she was trying to sell Monat to my mom and I, raving about how amazing it was and the wonders it does for skin and hair. Everything in her salon is Monat. We left the place without buying any product because we couldn’t afford it ($99 for a non-professional system?), but we made an appointment next week to get our hair colored together, and she told us to think about the products we would buy next time. I will say this-my hair is EXTREMELY oily. She washed my hair 36+ hours ago and it still has no tell-tale signs of becoming oily or dirty, which is something I haven’t experienced since hitting puberty. These products are extremely clarifying, and by the looks of these articles and other’s experiences, it could be to an almost dangerous level. These new technically-not-sulfate chemicals are very new and clearly a lot of people have sensitivities to them. I will not be buying anything from the Monat set. I am instead investing in a salon grade shampoo set or possibly pureology. I am considering continuing to see her as a stylist, but her being a strictly Monat market partner is definitely making me reconsider.

I was given a few samples of the products from a friend to try out. They made my scalp itch. I told her I wasn’t interested in buying because of that, she asked if I made sure I rinsed it all out! Sooo scalp itching is apparently not the product? It’s me? Anyways of course I rinsed it all out...I’m 37 years old and know how to wash my hair. Anyways, highly annoyed by that comment. Pushy sales people do nothing but make me stay away from the products.

You are not using the right product. When you know it is the right product it will suds up. Pantene tres and shampoos like that just coat your hair with oils. But Monat fixes that and makes it healthy. When you go through detox it makes you iche.

Thank you so much for making this video! My mom just bought me this about a month ago because I went through a period in my teens where I just started balding and now my hair is extremely thin and she though it would help. I looked up the price and I had some doubts but I didn’t think too much of it I just figured it was another slightly overpriced beauty product...I wasn’t going to return it since it was a gift from my mom. I have naturally curly hair and i fell for the fact that it had no sulfates and is paraben free and I have been using it for 1 month. Recently I started noticing more scabs on my head and I’m pretty sure my hair is thinning but I can’t tell because I didn’t take a before photo...The scabs were getting so bad that I thought I had mites and never made the connection to the shampoo. I follow your channel and I’m so glad I saw this because had I not seen this I would have gone on using this product (my mom bought me two bottles of this crap). Anyways yeah don’t buy it, it’s not worth it. Hope there wasn’t too much damage done on my head.. ugh

I'm so happy you've done this video. There are people who might not like your personality, but they should respect your opinion as a hairdresser, a professional who knows what she's talking about. And because you are a professional and you know more about hair than an average joe I have high hopes that people will finally stop and think.
I'm in several hair groups on FB (One of them is yours, obviously). And in one group recently someone asked opinions on some of the products from Monat. I kid you not, first 3 comments were from women who sell Monat. And it wasn't just simple, oh yeah it's a great product, no. There were of course several before and after pics and how it's basically a miracle... 🤦🏼
Since I've heard a lot about it from my friends as well some reviews here on youtube, I've wrote a msg saying that some people like it and some don't and to do some research before buying. ALL 3 CAME AT ME! 😂 and I promise, I didn't tell that girl that it's bad or that she shouldn't buy it. Just told her to research more into it. And those women, grown ass women started acting like teenagers, being nasty, calling me a hater, one even said she'd like to punch me in the face! Like what on earth?
I was so proud of myself that I've risen above and kept a respectful tone when replying.
Just that kind of interaction proved so much to me. I would never buy a product, even if I wanted it real bad, from a person who acts like that.
Anyway, love you even more now MBFIMH (my best friend in my head) 😊😘❤️

Sadly, this is the nature of grooming. To have a successful "business" those who sell have to believe in the product like it was their own baby. In doing research on MLMs I discovered that support groups for cult survivors get a lot of people who used to sell with MLM businesses.

There are thousands of hairdressers that have done their research as well and are huge supporters. People need to remember hairdressers are hairdressers, not scientists. Monat has a group of 5 scientists that formulated this product and it is the #1 haircare brand in America now.

Definitely her opinion is something to consider. I know salon owners and professional stylist who love Monat, however, and won't use anything else. So that is also something to consider. One stylist I know who specializes in extensions will only do extensions on people who use Monat because it prevents them from getting traction alopecia from the extensions and keeps their hair healthier so it doesn't break. So while this stylist's opinion is worth considering... so are the others. So reading through the comments I've seen some comments defending MLMs, saying they are how business is done nowadays. If I'm working for someone, I'm getting paid for my time, paid for training and not paying for the products to sell. If I'm opening a new business I cannot expect people to work for me for free.
I cannot imagine charging my staff to be trained in sales, they are not doctors that need extensive post secondary education. I cannot expect my staff to pay me for the products I expect them to sell.
I also have no interest in recruiting or hiring more staff than then what I need. I would not want more competition or over-saturation in the market. You do not open 20 Tim Hortons or Starbucks on one street and expect a great return from each store. There is so much wrong with MLMs unless you are at the top of the pyramid scheme and even then you're a horrible person that preys on desperate or uninformed people. The product should sell itself, you do not need millions of sales people stocking their garages and going bankrupt to succeed unless you are a predator.

I just graduated from Cosmetology school, and I like to try any product I can get my hands on (that’s how I learn.) Monat worked great for my mom and myself, but my instructor and my cosmetology bestie had issues with hair loss from it. If someone asks me about it, I always give the disclaimer that it worked for me, but it may be horrible for you. It’s an honest gamble.
I had no idea about the fake 5 star ratings with the BBB. That’s off putting. I don’t think any company should do that.

I always support my girlfriends' businesses as much as possible and one of my friends started selling this. I bought the volume system because I was most interested in the blowout creme and she told me that the products work best together. So, whatever- I bought the system for $99. I have tried a ton of different volume products or "systems" and I can't say I was super super impressed with it. It came with a shampoo, conditioner, volume spray and blow out cream. I never used it consistently to see a problem because I bounce around different products in the shower (like a toning shampoo/conditioner to maintain color ect.) But, after watching this, I am just going to throw it out rather than keep using it and have my hair fall out. Yikes! I came to leave a comment to enter the contest but got wrapped up in all of this.

I wish I had watched this video before purchasing. I stopped after 3 weeks because I finally took a step in educating myself about how to properly treat curly/wavy hair and the products I were using weren't bad, they just had alcohols not meant for curly hair. The girl I bought it from explained to me "how everything works" and giving me the MLM mentality of "you're the problem not our products". I made the mistake of telling her to be careful and she gave me a spiel about how "they are a billion dollar company" and "expanding to Europe". It's literally not at all hard to look up Monat's revenue, and no they do not make billions of dollars.
I think the most terrifying part of the brand isn't even their products, it's how they convince people that they are the holy grail of hair care. Quite literally almost a cult

There is currently a class action lawsuit with 18+ plaintiffs against Monat. Monat filed a motion to dismiss and the judge DENIED their request. Per the court order, the victims, have enough evidence to continue with the lawsuit. The judge also found that there is evidence supporting the plaintiffs allegations that the ingredients in Monat hair products may be unsafe and it cannot be dismissed. It has moved to the discovery phase. This is all FACTS ☺️🙌🏼

Thank you for this video!!! I discovered monat several months ago and actually considered selling it after seeing all those “before and after pics” on Pinterest . I’m a licensed hairdresser and have been for 10 yrs. So obviously I had to my research before I purchased the kit and signed up. I’ve noticed some stylists support this but even more stylists are against it. After researching this... damn. This breaks my heart. Thank you for the detailed reasons as to why you’re personally against this brand. The fact that they try to sue everyone that tries to speak out against this brand on top of false advertising, the lack of education provided for those who sell this product, along with specific ingredients that can be harmful and the what level these products are on a ph scale... nah. I’m more interested in helping my clients rather than harming them. I completely understand why the BBB gave monat a grade f now. Again, can’t thank you enough for the info! I can now educate my clients on this brand and reasons they should steer clear!!

Overpriced trash that some dollar store shampoo and conditioner would do better without killing your hair off. Also I have used the products exclusively for almost two years and I’ve haven’t had hair this nice in many years. You might have gotten a good batch of product but it is typical of mlms to have inconsistent results and ignore any negative effects, or to switch to cheap manufacturers with low standards.
In any case, even if the product were good, by buying you are supporting toxic company that preys on vulnerable people, especially young moms, selling them a dream of financial success and spending time with their kids, while know that the vast majority of people who work for this company will LOSE money.

I just discovered this video and I’m glad someone is finally speaking the truth about this junk. As someone who has lost their hair due to hormonal imbalances and understands the emotional pain that comes with it, it angers me that a company would put something out there like this and not do a recall when a ton of bad reports come in. There are too many cases for this to be considered a coincidence. I have my hair back now, but I’d never screw around with a product that could even slightly cause hair loss or scabbing. My only thought is that most MLMs don’t care because they are only in it for the money, so the product they distribute is just an overpriced afterthought.
Thanks for weighing in on this. By the way, you’re gorgeous! 🙂

Let me tell you it’s not worth it I was a “market partner” recently and it’s so funny because I normally shed washing my hair anyway, and I’ve noticed it happening A LOT more when I was washing my hair with MONAT. I didn’t have that happen after my hair dried or having open sores or blisters like others but I was like oh this would help me make some money. Well let me tell you that isn’t even possible especially for me, it may be for others but I have been in it maybe since December it’s February now and I have yet to sell anything haha! Well I’m pretty sure the girl who is my friend from high school who signed me up isn’t doing it anymore I haven’t seen her post anything. The lady who was her sponsor literally deleted me from a group because I wasn’t selling no matter how hard I tried! So yeah it’s a no from me! I have YET to make back that $215 dollars I spent on that package, yeah that $115 dollar pack the cheapest one ends up being $215! 😑
