I tried it, based on your recommendation. My hair started falling out within a couple of weeks of using it. It was without a doubt more than normal shedding. I’m talking clumps in my shower. I have NEVER had this happen with a shampoo before. This was not “some other health issue.” I stopped Monat and the clumps stopped. It was 100% Monat. I now use Olaplex and my hair is very healthy. I also cannot get down with the fact that it’s a predatory MLM with a multitude of ethical issues.

Thanks for sharing this! I have a friend that has been promoting and selling Monat and she completely changed from this super sweet, humble girl to an extremely vain and self-absorbed person. She probably gained “friends” from Monat but as her friend I didn’t want anything to do with MLM (previously joined WFG, a life insurance MLM) and know how they work, and of course we aren’t friends anymore. Monat is a big red flag to me in general and I’m surprised so many girls are still sucked into this MLM scheme.

I’m only 10 mins in to this video but I have to say, this wasn’t political or caused by haters. I used Monat for a year and the first six months were amazing. I was true believer and even signed up to sell it. Then it got less amazing. My hair was dull and greasy. Then it started to fall out dramatically every time I showered. I still believed in Monat and switched the type I was using. No improvement but I kept pushing with Monat. Then, I saw that others were complaining about hair loss and I finally made the connection. I quit Monat and very quickly my hair stopped falling out and started looking better. It took a LONG time for my hair to recover.

My hairdresser was using it for a year, maybe a little longer, she also sold it to clients that were interested. She literally stopped because of certain things that she had experienced with several of the accusations, including being forced to resign due to not being active on the site. And then she started hearing from her other clients that it was messing with their menstrual cycles, she was skeptical and asked her lead and didn't get an answer to this claim. She asked more questions to that client and the client said that she actually tried not using it one month and she had her period and she did that for some time. That client also had lab work done to rule out other health issues, which none were found. Long story short, my hairdresser stopped using and selling the product. Personally, to each their own, I personally wouldn't use it. But thank you for coming on here and explaining your stance without sounding like you're trying to sell us the product.

I just wrote this comment above, and I'll write it here too. I'll tell you why I think some people find their hair starts falling out after using some Monat products. Their ingredients include a phytoestrogen ("The Red Clover used in Monat is Red Clover extract - a water-based ingredient that is a phytoestrogen often used in herbal and naturopathic preparations") which is good for hair growth PROVIDED YOU DON'T SUFFER HORMONAL IMBALANCES. For example, if you have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) this very often results in higher than normal levels of insulin and testosterone, which converts to estrogen, which means higher estrogen than normal. And some women with PCOS, while they might grow hair in unwanted places, like on their chins, they may also experience thinning and hair loss on their heads. And if you add more estrogen to their systems - which you could be doing using a shampoo containing a phytoestrogen (they mimic estrogen), then that person might experience EVEN MORE hair loss. ON THE OTHER HAND, a menopausal woman who is NOT taking HRT (hormone replacement therapy), might actually benefit from using a Monat product with a phytoestrogen. It's important to pinpoint WHY a person has hair loss in the first place. If it's from too much hair styling and pulling from hairbands, or stress, Monat products might be a perfect solution (provided the person doesn't suffer any allergies to any of their other ingredients). If the hair loss has a hormonal basis, or if the person is overweight and might have insulin resistance or a thyroid issue, be careful recommending Monat products because that person may already have some hormone imbalances which the phytoestrogens in Monat may not help. Anyway, I think until a study is done on what I am saying, take it with a grain of salt. But it's worth considering if you have no other clues as to why the products work for one person, but not for another. That would also explain why it messes with some people's menstrual cycles!

That’s so weird I don’t understand why she said you couldn’t use a nourishing conditioner. Did she recommended the intensive repair line? If yes, you should only use this max 2 times a week otherwise it could really dry out your hair. I made this mistake getting one of my clients to use this and although all her balding grew back her hair was breaking because it was so dry, she was using it every other day. You can surely use a nourishing conditioner, I recommend the new line damage repair bond treatment and masque. Try telling the girl you bought from that you want these products. I love their new line, my hair is extremely damaged from bleach and it is the only thing that has made it more manageable and doesn’t string while it’s wet when I brush it like it use to.

I signed up for Monet and was wanting to love the product so much. I was very excited about growing healthier hair. My hair was drier than normal and I have thick hair..really thick. I started using Monet and found it was making my hair very sticky at the roots. The rep told me it was temporary and to just keep using the product and that my hair was actually clearing itself of buildup. I did another few washes and it got so bad I used another shampoo to wash out the gunk on my hair. I started using the Monet again. I gave it a good month and decided I couldn’t use the products any longer. I’m not sure what the stickiness was but I never used Monet again. I am still a subscriber because I haven’t made my three purchases.

I’ve been using monat for about two years now. All of a sudden my hair texture has changed drastically. I am losing a lot of hair and it gets really tangled. I loved my hair for the first time in my life when I first started using monat , the texture and body was the healthiest & strongest it ever was, but in the last 6 mo everything changed. I wonder way? At first I didn’t pay a lot of concern over it but now it’s heartbreaking. I need my hair repaired but I’m not sure what other products to switch to that will do that. Monat was so expensive but it was magic at first but I’m pretty sure the party’s over with monat. So sad. Check your estrogen levels. There is a phytoestrogen (estrogen mimicking) in the product which could cause your own estrogen levels to rise. If they were already high before (think possible excessive carbohydrate consumption = high insulin = eventual higher estrogen, or other hormone disruptors like plastics) then add a phytoestrogen to that and you'll have even higher estrogen levels, which can cause hair loss! Phytoestrogens could be helpful to those with lower estrogen on the other hand - think menopausal women who are doing the transition without HRT.

She seems to do pretty well with it, and I was starting to think that maybe it wasn’t that bad regardless of the lawsuits and stories I had heard. But because I work at a salon, and it would be a conflict of interest with the products we already sell, that kinda saved me from trying the products. Fast forward almost 3 years later she meets the love of her life gets married and gets pregnant, there’s a point to this story… well my client ended up having a miscarriage! One of the stories and one of the law suits claimed that, they women who were pregnant that used there products were having multiple miss carriages. (Aka detox process) I think one of the ingredients that contributed to that was red clover? Well that seemed to happen to my client. That's a silly statement, as product can only speak for itself when a person shares their results. How on earth would you know to buy a great shampoo if you've never seen the results on somebody? Literally every single product on this planet gets advertised one way,or another.
No need to pretend that MLMs are something that is forced upon a person, you leave at any time. Is it annoying to receive messages and stuff for marketing? Yes, but it's just as annoying as any Instagram or Facebook ad. Taking percentage of the sales is literally how any business works, so there is no robbing anyone. I could never sell stuff this way because I don't like the pushy approach, but this doesn't cloud my judgement of the strategy itself. Y'all get a bit too emotional over this, other than looking at it with a clear mind.

You dont pay to go to work, and you dont leave at the end of the day with nothing. You also aren't demoted from your position just because you didnt sell as much as last month, and MLMs convince you that you are a brand new business owner when in reality you're not. The whole set up is designed to keep you invested. Sure, leave at any time but dont pretend that 98% of people who sign up ultimately walk away in a worse position than when they had started.

I'm glad you explained that is a scalp shampoo. I had heard horrible things about it. Thank you for the explanation!

Every shampoo is for your scalp. Thats the purpose of a shampoo. You rub it into your scalp, then as the rest runs down the shaft thats all it needs.
You dont need to vigorously open the rest of the cuticle. All the build up oil etc is at the base.
Then conditioner is designed for the ends and mid-shaft, not the roots. Because the further away the hair is from the scalp, the less protected it is and the more prone to damage it is.
Conditioner nourishes the ends and helps protect it just like the oil from the scalp does.
Brushes & combs are generally supposed to help distrobute the oils evenly through the rest of the hair to help keep it healthy.

Class action lawsuits exist for legitimate reasons. Children with burn blisters on their scalps, young adults losing excessive hair etc what do they have to gain by 'bashing' the product or going to court, just for fun?
It's dangerous, especially as a hair dresser to be calculating in how they choose to speak on matters such as this.
She isn't completely at fault, unfortunately there are many people surrounding her convincing her that these babies bleeding from the scalp are just haters.
I wish she would do proper research. Shes very intelligent, beautiful, educated on a lot.. I enjoy her very much and believe she's a great woman with a lot of great valuable knowledge to share.
But when money is involved.. you just have to be a little extra cautious, especially when its your health that's up for debate.

Damn, you lost me as a subscriber, it goes way beyond the hair care of monat , its about the business structure. 98% of all monat sellers will make NO MONEY or even LOSE MONEY . Mlms pray on vulnerable people and destroy peoples lives, not to mention how manipulative, cult like and toxic environment. I love how you say people hair was falling out and in the same breath said that monat " sells itself" umm no, if that was the case people wouldn't need to recruit to ACTUALLY make money? Its the ingredient red clover that causes hair lose but I know the studies that monat paid for won't talk or be transparent about that. Your morals are SAD .

Hi! If your hair is thinning you need the shampoo, conditioner and a masque. I helped my mom with this issue and her hair looks fuller now.

That whole hair falling out, suing, and negative press happened to WEN as well. There is nothing in those products that causes issues either.

The only two brands that have ever messed up my hair were WEN and Monat, all the other dozens of brands I have used never damaged my hair.

I tried Monat. I detest all mlms because over the years I have just gotten burned out on them in all aspects of my Life. and loved the scent and the feel of my hair. I didn't end up using it more than the samples I was given. It seems like an urban myth along the lines of Devi Curl..(yiu are right, different shampoos affect different hair, differently.) it did not do the things that wen did where it got matted and greasy no matter how much I rinsed! Igot covid in December started shedding massively in January and February and March and April..switched to vegan diet and lowered my stress..by then my bleached over processed hair was grown out about 4 inches. Then I went no poo just water and vinegar sprayed and mild conditioner on ends left in, for a month and a half (May and June) and started using a 5% minoxidil in June July and August during this last year. Just to try it. I have been using olap!ex 3 as a mask and no 6 on the ends. and no heat or sorays this summer...maybe twice..I leave the roots alone. I finally got a mild color of the now 6 inches which was brown n white mixed in september professionally done. Really lifted my skin tone and brightened everything. So just past shoulder length now and feeling and looking better! Trying to get to a mixed Jen Aniston baby lights in the front kind of style.
