The SCATPACK is the most popular because it makes the most sense in terms of affordability and pretty much round that HP @ 500 ponies which is the perfect recipe for street and HWY. I have a WBSP “SMOKE SHOW” 2020 Looks just like 2022 no different then the 23’s other then STICKERS! When I’m driving to my house in Palm Springs, ca I get nothing but thumbs up👍🏾Hellcat, sure would be nice but for an extra $25-30 G’s these days I would save your money SCATPACK has enough power⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️Hold on to it because it’s about to get CRAZY if you have one✌🏾

Coming from a Dodge dealer automotive technician, I have driven all kinds of Chargers and Challengers. I bought a 16 scat brand new for the value. I feel like scatpacks will hold their value more than any other trim level offered. If I went to the track and had money to waste then the hellcat is the better choice. If I was going to rack up the miles, then overall cost is more important (v6 or 5.7 hemi is best). The scatpack is in the "goldilocks zone" that can relate to everyone.

As someone that went from 16’ SRT charger to 18’ Hellcat.. worth every mf DIME. The sheer enjoyment of the drive is 100X… I’ve had mine 4yrs… still gives me the shakes and at times I’m contemplating more HP.. I make the payment with a smile on my face… there are things you can do in the 🐈 that you just can’t do in the scats. Only down slide.. I’m force to drive around with a AR in the passenger seat.

I personally think having a Hellcat is about status especially if you never go to the track or do any type of racing. My Scat gets away from me occasionally and reminds me that I'm good right where I'm at 🤣🤣🤣. But do whatever makes you happy and buy what you can afford; don't forget to include the maintenance and upkeep fees because that premium fuel is a bitch sometimes.

I’ve had a v6 5.7 6.4 and a redeye. A person can have fun in a 5.7 to be honest but it feels far different in a scat. Same from a scat to a cat. If I never had a cat I’d be satisfied with a scat but after having a cat it’s hard to go back on power and I guess that’s because I actually use all the power. You notice the difference even if you ain’t using all the power. I agree you can be happy with a scat tho it’s more then enough power for most.

I’ve had a ‘12 SRT (bought new) auto Challenger and got HC fever in ‘17 plus I wanted a stick. I got one and only kept it about a year. It wasn’t just the cost of the car, the insurance was 34% higher and (I like to do my oil changes) it was even harder to do my own maintenance (the oil cooler needed draining too). I now have a ‘21 Scat Widebody stick. It’s the perfect car. I’m not going to drag race or take it to any other race track. It’s plenty fast for normal street use. Sounds great too (I don’t miss the supercharger whine). I really love it and I’m keeping it.🥂

It depends where you live, what you can afford, and if you need the power under your foot. I test drove a 2022 charger GT followed shortly after by an RT. The power of the GT felt similar to that of my dad's 2014 Nissan Sentra SR, obviously it got up to speed faster and just felt overall like a nicer car, but the RT was in a different league to me. I don't know how it feels to drive a Scat or a Cat, but I personally feel like an RT is just right for me.

Very good discussion. The Scat vs Cat debate is very interesting to me, since I own a Coyote mustang and am debating to get a supercharger or leave it NA adding bolt ons and shakerhood for the ultimate street cruiser.
99% of my driving is on streets, so NA I can still wind up the engine. But once there is a SC, I may have to drive more boring to not wrap around trees in my rainy environment. On the other hand, 550 torque at 3000rpm might be more fun even cruising.

Everyday I daily it to work and it behaves as I want it to! I can chill or I can fly, I can rip it or I can burn it up. I don't feel intimidated by hellcats because they honestly look afraid of there cars like its to much. I also have a 2013 Zx14r that i dont ride at all becuase 98% of stuff on the road is not a match for my stock 1400cc beast so i understand how hellcat owners feel. The most thing I'm debating on the scat is tune or not and wheels.
I just took it to Mississippi and turned heads in my lil town. I got 28 mpg doing 65 and about 25 doing 70mph. The 4 cylinder mode works less efficiently closer you get to 80 mph. Smooth ride all the way. Spent $65 on gas both ways 440 miles. Trip ended back in dallas with 1000 miles. No issues no ticks still ready to go. Love it no regrets. Payments (premium with tire warranty and 150% gap all that stuff) with statefarm full coverage insurance is about $900 monthly. Still full manufactory warranty till 60k . Man it's my baby and I gladly pay that.

Also, when Dodge pulls the plug on the V8 in the very near future, the Scat with it's naturally aspirated V8 will hold much more value than the hellcat's supercharged V8! Can't wait till 2024! My Scat will be on the highest demand...

I know 2 guys that had a hellcat and sold them for scats because it was just to say they had one. I never even get over 100mph anyway so mine mostly for the looks. Fully loaded smoke show with red interior hellcat wheels, sunroof and technology package with Harmon Kardon so I'm good

Scatpacks are fun but for most of us the power got old quickly. The moment i test drove a hellcat i knew i was getting one & i got 1 within a month. The upgrade was worth it 100000000% lol no regrets at all. Came from a widebody scatpack to a 19 regular body hellcat with great amount of options & it came with very low miles 1.8k. At the end of the day get what you want & can afford. & for the record the scatpack is more popular & sought-after because of affordability. Not the case for everybody but for most yes thats the case.

More food for thought. I have a 2020 dodge charger R/T so it has the same looks as the scat. Sticker was 37K back then. Base model. Spent about 8K in engine mods, including racing cam headers, etc. It’s at 462 wheel horsepower so around 550 at the crank. Which is more than a scat. Don’t count out the R/T if you are opening to modding 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

i live in Canada. i have a 2020 challenger gt AWD. im hesitant to upgrade and get my shaker widebody before they are no longer available. my issue is the loss of AWD for Canadian weather. if i do get the 392 it will be my daily. which is why im also thinking about the 392 AWD Durango with the 5.0 u connect and upgraded interior. but then i might kick my self for not getting the challenger while they were in production. especially listening to some old guy talking about how they could have gotten one way back when but didn't.
when it comes to hellcats vs scats even if i was making 200k a year i would still go for the scat bc of the looks with the shaker something you cant get with the hellcats. Personal preference

On my 2nd Challenger right now. Had a 2020 Blacktop GT (upgraded from a 2013 SXT Charger) then traded the GT for my 2021 Manual Slimbody Scatpack. Unfortunately, I did it when the price was at its peak earlier this year for $64k. Just to see what the price was going for I went to a BMW dealership and I was offered $50k. Considering how FOMO is setting in for a lot of folks I’m most likely gonna keep it and see if the value increases within the next 5-10 years.
Performance wise, I wish I had just a little more power in my 3rd and 4th gear but I’m not disappointed. I’m sure with a few mods I can up my HP. Adding an aftermarket wide body kit, 305s, intake, larger throttle body, and if I’m really attempting to compete with the Hellcats I’m considering forged internals and supercharger on my 6.4L. Of course these things won’t be all at once but I believe this is a good entry point. You won’t be the fastest on the road but you definitely won’t be the slowest. It’s an affordable, realistic muscle car with tons of potential.

I sold my car at 2.5 years old, with 44k on the odo for the SAME price I paid brand new for it. And at this point the Car Fax said it had moderate body damage repaired. My Cat is an 18, same color, same interior, same sound, same wheels. It had 21k on the odo. 100% perfect, no wrecks, still on stock tires. Got it for 50k. In 10 years it will be worth more than my Scat Pack would ever be. But I did buy Scat new and Cat used. So thats a difference.

Changed my opinion, had the money at the time to get a hellcat so I went that route, love it creepin up on 10 sec 1/4 and get 20+ MPG on freeway! But scat packs are plenty enough to have fun. Even the R/T’s sound good and will light up the tires no problem.

This video keeps me thinking of a lot of things. The Hellcat is the ultimate Dodge. But on the streets I still come up with it's to much power for everyday driving. I can't make any sense out of it other than I would love to own one. Its the best of the best in terms of suspension, engine and interior quality. It's not much different than the Scat pack except the suspension , well the wide body has the adaptive suspension so there's that. If I where to land a Hellcat, it would take the place of my Scat Pack. It would live in the garage , get detailed and go tot he drag strip a few times a year. I probably would take it to shows, but that makes me a little nervous as people tend to touch the cars, I'm all out of anyone touching my car. I think if I did get a Hellcat, I probably would get a Challenger . The Charger is the overall better car . The Challenger has that iconic look to it. I still think the Scat pack and the Hellcat is a bit much for daily driving. The R/T the more I think about it, is the perfect daily if you don't have snow. The SXT or GT AWD is the perfect daily if you live in bad weather areas. That AWD system is unbelievable how good it is and believe it or not, the V6 is still a damn fun engine. Not to mention you can mod it and get some good power out of it.

I used it as a down payment on a 15 Srt Hellcat Challenger. 6 speed manual. What I wanted that's why I don't have a charger it's not a manual made car. I ended up getting my car foe 43,000. But the hellcat has been the dream since it was released. I can afford it even now but the inflated price makes me question if it's worth it. Like u said I'd be paying more than my mortgage even with a hefty down payment. Also in time I feel like the hellcat is a pillar in automobiles. But..the scats will definitely be classic as well. Well you may be gaping a Corolla but you aren’t gapping my Toyota Supra. I walk Hellcats with just a few simple mods. Yes you can modify a Hellcat for more power but it simply cannot compete with the way the MKV Supras wake up from a simple down pipe and tune. The Supra also doesn’t look like regular traffic. GT-R also going to walk a hellcat. Hellcat is a respectable car it’s just too damn heavy to be gapping anything more than a Civic Type R. Dodge owners think the Hellcat is King but it’s far from it. Also the prices Dodge owners are willing to pay is absurd for what it is… Regular traffic, no one’s excited about seeing a Dodge on the street, but people yell… Is That a SUPRA? It’s so common it’s become a meme… Not hate just facts. ❤

Hellcat owner here, I gotta say you make good points but you said you're buying another car for essentially a bigger engine but to be fair if you're coming from an RT you're doing the same for a scat, but I agree 90% of people should be stuck to the scat cause truthfully most people can't handle the power of a hellcat, or a scat for that matter. Sorry the truth sucks y'all but most of y'all dont realize how much power a scat really has, I came from a 2020 RT and learned the power and at one point it was insane power but after awhile I got super comfortable with it but I WAS happy with i loved the exhaust note better than the scat and I preferred the RT but I really wanted the supercharger whine so I traded up to the hellcat and it's perfect, I trained myself to the 700hp on eco mode with 500hp limit just to get comfortable instead of launching headfirst into the road legal rocketship. I'm seeing people say hellcats are for status, i personally think the exhaust sounds better than the 392 and the whine is amazing. That's what I wanted it for, not even the insane power that I have inevitably fell in love with. I'm only 22 but I work a lot and saved money and built my credit with my RT and got my hellcat at 900 a month and my insurance for 3 vehicles is only 338
