  • This is a quick review of a Stage 2 Installation on my 2021 Dodge Challenger Red-eye.
    The installation was completed by the guys at David Dodge in Glen Mills Pa.
    The Dyno comparison pulls where completed by Josh Swartz at HHP in Smyrna Delaware.
    Just wanted to clear up an error in the video, when I said the baseline tune by Josh I meant to say baseline Pull, the car was completely stock and not tuned in the before Dyno test.

      The rears are Weld RTS S71 Beadlocks 17x10 +30 with MT ETr 305/45/17, I bought the adjustable down links from HHP, only like $75 a pair, so the would clear sway bar unsprung. Depending on what year red-eye you have determines what front skinnies you can run, 21+ you only have 1 choice and that's the Weld 20x5.

    Hi thanks for this! liked & sub'd! I just paid online for the prestage kit (even though I don't need an air filter) as my 2019 Redeye has about 1 year left on powertrain warranty. I'm in Eastern PA so going to connect with HHP and ask them to install the stage 1 and 2 and make sure all is good with the car. I really like the way the stock transmission shifts but interested to know what a tuner does that makes it better. My question is that is the higher RWHP result realized by HHP's mods are on pump gas or on 100 Octane?

    • @BodsRailRoad
      @BodsRailRoad  9 месяцев назад +1

      I wouldn't buy the DC kits if you're going to go the HHP route, it will cost more and you won't get the warranty because Power broker isn't doing the install. HHP has everything you'll need and will be cheaper than going piecemeal.
      The trans tune they do will optimize shift points for better performance.
      HHP didn't tune my car at all, just did the before and after Dyno pulls, I meant to say pulls instead of tunes in that part of the video.
      My gains were noticed on the Race gas(HO) tune of the Stage 2 kit, on the 91 tune my times showed no or little improvement. When Josh tunes your car you'll see marked improvement in both pump gas and race gas tunes.
      I would definitely give them a call and ask to speak with either Josh, tell them Ron with the orange Red-eye sent you they'll take good care of you.

    • @BodsRailRoad
      @BodsRailRoad  9 месяцев назад +1

      Keep in mind by improvement I mean my 1/4 mile times. We didn't Dyno the non HO mode because there wasn't any noticeable improvement in times or speed.

      @nyplantings2420 7 месяцев назад

      Thanks again for your time and replies. There is allot of info out there but little compares to the detail and way that you describe this.
      I have yet to see anyone showing track times and trap speeds.
      I sure would not want to go against you on the drag strip it seems like you are dialed in on this car!
      I have owned and logged many miles on some of the fastest cars made.
      I'm in Eastern PA and believe it or not, I have never been on a real track and never even driven with drag radials.
      (The days of street racing are over I got away with alot and luck eventually runs out).
      I'm thinking of going to Island Dragway in Jersey pointers.

    • @BodsRailRoad
      @BodsRailRoad  11 месяцев назад

      It's not hard, the toughest part will be swapping out the thermostat and then beading the cooling system. Keep in mind that if you do it yourself it will only have the DC parts warranty, not the factory warranty. The dealer has to install the kits in order for you to retain the Dodge power train warranty.

  • @BodsRailRoad
    @BodsRailRoad  11 месяцев назад +2

    Well final testing is finished and confirmed that not Only can you Activate HO mode without race gas in the tank, it actually applies the tune as well. Was on pump gas for this weekend and With HO mode active (on pump gas) the car ran the same 2.5 - 3 tenths quicker than when 91 tune was active even though there was no race gas present( only did a couple btb passes for test purposes only) It's not supposed to but it does. I definitely would Not recommend doing this because it's just a matter of time before engine grenades because of detonation from lack of the high Octane, plus I'm pretty sure you'd void your warranty if you blow the engine in HO mode when they find out you were on pump gas.

      The skinnies can knock off at least a tenth and as much as 2 tenths off your ET depending on which ones, and are a must if you're serious about getting the most out of your car. I used to drive to my track on my 20" skinnies because I ran small street tires up front. I won't be on the new 17" ones since they will be drag fronts, though street legal they are really thin.

    Just FYI guys they Changed Stage 3 kit supposedly will now be based on the Demon 170 even calling it the DC170 kit. 1k+ HP will be E85 as well, but going to be Really expensive because they are changing the heads, head studs, fuel pumps, blower snout, top and bottom pulleys, even adding 2" headers, no eta or cost as of yet but just going by list price of available parts and the 20 hours labor they quote will probably be well over 20k.
    Here is a screen grab of kit contents before they deleted it from DC site.

      Have been running it for almost a year, without issue, had a dozen or so passes at MIR on Sunday ran ten 9.9s with a couple of 10.0s, temps never above 190, car ran smooth even hot lapped the last 3 at the end of the day, 9.9, 9.9, 9.9 😁. As for software they did fix the HP number for Non HO mode shows 837 now, but still No 885 in HO mode. The car runs great on 100octane in HO mode, but a little slower in non HO. Would definitely do it again all things considered, but that's very dependent on who the dealer is and if they'll stand by their work ECT. In your case with it being a 19 and almost out of warranty imo you'd be better served going with a reputable tuner as you get more bang for you buck and your warranty is almost expired anyway, also keep in mind the extended warranties will not cover Stage 2 failures resulting from it. Hope that answers your questions if not feel free to ask again.

      It was marginal at best. Best time on Stage 2 91+ was 10.269 at 134 which was slower than my before times in like weather (the 10.2 slips in video) so we didn't bother I would say 700 whp at best. If you're not going to be using the race gas tune it's not worth it. It says 837 on 91+ tune but I didn't notice any increase in performance with HO mode turned off, it may be a slight increase but definitely not worth 4k.
      But if you're not using it because you daily drive the car and only use it at the track, and go racing with some frequency then yes it is.

      @@BodsRailRoad Thanks a ton for the detailed reply boss!
      This certainly helps a lot!
      To be honest, would have been 100% on the time on pump gas - it's a fun fast weekend car for me --
      Got others like a 2022 Shelby GT500 Carbon, ZL1 1LE and a C7 Z06/Z07 for track duty.
      It was exactly what you pointed -- seeing that 837hp in Uconnect (feel good) - but was also expecting to feel those extra 40HPs in the highway pulls like car pulling harder. more responsive etc - but if those aren't noticeable, or super marginal, I gotta really think again.
      I may go from a 2.62 diff to 3.09 instead then!

      Not really worth it in my case. My car is a Red-eye and with stage 2 it's at 885hp for $4k all in. Stage 3 kit is listed at $10k. It's a 3L blower and on the 426ci Hellaphant engine it comes from makes 1k HP. On the 6.2L (378ci) Red-eye engine it will probably make around 925ish Hp. So another 40-50HP is not worth $10,000.

      @@abdurraheembaban5879Parts Manager found it in his system, though nothing is official, it was on the DC site for a couple of days, but has since been removed.

      @@abdurraheembaban5879keep in mind that the 10k doesn't include Pre stage kit and labor which will bring the total to about 14k from fresh install, and and additional 12k or so extra if you have pre stage and any of the other stage kits already installed. For a red-eye imo it's not worth the extra cost, since red-eye already has a 2.7L blower.
