Direct Connection Stage 2 Transmission Tune install.

- One of the forum members, redeyecat, on Hellcat.org noticed that there was a transmission section under the vehicle tunes section on the Direct Connection handheld.
I had never noticed this before and it's not part of the original DC installation manual.
I think it was part of the last big update a few weeks back that nobody knew what the update was for.
Here's a step by step guide on how to install it.
I'll reply back with results of the transmission tune after some testing at the track this weekend.

Could you do a video of the interface of the tuner so we can know what settings it has to offer..
Here's a quick vid on how to data log, let's you record what the cars engine/trans is doing, they also have several others that help you get up to speed on the handheld, the DC handheld is the same as the Diablosport Trinity 2 EX.

How long does it take to update or upload tune great video too
The video shows the tune being applied in realtime, so including the saving of the original Trans tune add about a minute to it, the down load was only a couple of minutes.
I did a lot of testing this past and a half with the new trans tune installed and again with it removed and returned to the stock trans tune.
After checking all the logs pre trans tune and post the car appears to be shifting earlier with the trans tune installed, looks to be about 100 rpm on average vs stock tune.
Though the shift points were not constant in both pre and post tune, so it may just be coincidence and the tune doesn't effect anything, but I can Definitely say it Doesn't add anything performance wise as all my quickest ETs were with trans tune not installed, and that being the case I Wouldn't recommend installing it.
So, installing the transmission tune actually lowers your ETs - so, basically, it hurts performance rather than helping? That's dumb.
On the other hand, I'm guessing it's supposed to increase top speed - the info button next to the Modify Stock Tune says "allows you to change parameters, such as speed limit."
@@samghosal1213would be nice if it would let you adjust the shift points but unfortunately it doesn't, from my testing it appears to cause it to shift a little sooner, I'm guessing to relieve a little stress on yhe trans, but again without update notes its just a guess, but all my quickest runs where with it not installed.
@@BodsRailRoad I see. What's the quickest 1/4 you ran so far - (a) on pump gas (93 octane) and (b) on 100 octane.
@@samghosal1213quickest pass before stage 2 on 93 pump was a 10.16 and 10.18 in -800ish DA, post stage 2 in non HO mode was 10.26 in +400ish DA, and 9.99 in HO mode same day. Everything being equal.
Best pass to date is now a 9.85 in HO mode +300 DA, with small brake conversion and 17" skinnies.
can you remove the screen from the car if you dont plan on driving with 885 hp?? when i do mines i would prefer just using the screen when racing.
Yes, if the handheld is not attached it automatically defaults to 837hp mode.
Still waiting on chargers! Very frustrating

Did that glitch ever get fixed so you can activate 885 high octane mode on the main screen?
Not yet, I was talking with Direct Connection rep at Chrysler Nationals and they are aware of the issue, and you are supposed to be able to activate it that way as well, and they are working on the software issue.

@@BodsRailRoad I have the same issue. Stage 2 885 HP I can't highlight it. I only see 837 HP even though the HO on the handheld command center is pushed and highlighted, it does not show on the infortainment screen. Not sure if I am truly accessing the extra HP or not....
@@Crypto_World411 I wouldn't worry about the utouch screen, that's not active yet. If you activate the HO mode on the Handheld (lights up blue)and you have race gas in the tank it should be active. The only way to be 100% positive that you're getting the boost in HO mode is to run the car at the track making passes with it in HO mode and then with it off, should see 2+ tenths faster in HO mode. The second way is to put it on a dyno.
It would be awesome if stage 2 would work with E85

I saw the new Stage 3 DC170 kit. Going by the list price of the parts they are adding and the 20 hours of labor it estimates for instal, it looks to be a $20,000 upgrade 😮.
There are no E85 stations where I live so will have to see if I go that route.
@BodsRailRoad I know Butter (another RUclipsr) talked about Stage 3 very briefly but do you have a reliable source that lists all the parts that Stage 3 is going to add and all the possible mods?
