You sound like me. I was just awakened at 2:30 with terrible back pain. I was in a car accident. Both knees need to be replaced and my left shoulder. I've been putting it off because I'm scared to have another surgery. ☹️
I'm a retired industrial mechanic. When I first started out, I went to trade school for my diesel/cat engine degree. These trucks, especially the tires blowing out, will end you. We heard some pretty horrific stories from the instructors. He was lucky he wasn't standing closer to it when it blew.
Believe you. These tires are big thick heavy chunks of solid rubber meshed with sharp piercing steel belting. Might as well be a grenade going off. I don't understand why there aren't safety valve releases when the PSI surpasses a certain point.
@@monkeybusiness1999 Tires don't have to be overinflated to explode like that, and you don't want such a mechanism anyways. In hot weather, PSI will naturally go up because air expands in heat. If you vent the "excess" air when it's hot, you'll be underinflated when things cool off again and then you run the risk of a blowout from having *too little* air. Such a thing would only be worthwhile if each tire were hooked up to a compressor, but that's just not feasible with how tires are designed and operate.
My best friends dad died from a tire explosion. He had the vehicle up and was working underneath when it blew, the entire car came down on him and killed him instantly. It was horrific. Please be extra careful around tires. I am deathly afraid of them and won't even stand beside a vehicle because of the tires.
I feel him on that. Worked in a tire shop and was down changing a tire in the bay when a truck pulled in next to me, ran over a socket and shot me right in about the same spot he got hit in. The socket ricochet off my back into the bed of another truck. Damn sure glad that didn't hit my spine 😬😬😬😬😬

I used to work on those trailers and the energy released from one of these blow outs is no joke.. one blew when i was standing about 30-40 feet from it, and with ear plugs in, it sounded like a shotgun going off 3 feet in front of me, and a huge vortex woosh of air the size of a mac truck hit me. The guy airing up that tire shit himself. Haha
I used to work with a guy that was airing up a tire when it blew out, he was thrown several feet across the room and had to have surgery done on his leg. Dude was very lucky to survive honestly.
I’m a mechanic at a logging/trucking company, a couple years ago I was leak-checking a tire from one of our tagalong trailers (for hauling an excavator behind a dump truck) and had it airing up in the cage. I’d just checked it maybe 30 seconds and it was at 70psi, we run them at 100 so I hooked up the air and leaned against something to wait. I heard the Velcro sound and before I could even react BOOM! I was about 4 feet away, what felt like a solid ball of air hit me in the stomach and knocked me stumbling 10 feet. It felt like what I imagine being hit with a baseball bat feels like. No lasting injuries, I sat down for maybe 5 minutes then went back to work. There was a split about 6” long on the tire sidewall. The cage didn’t do anything to lessen the force of the blowout but any time we air up a tire it goes in there, no exceptions. Except for grader, skidder, loader, and forwarder/processor tires since they don’t fit.
I would have thought it was a gun shot too? I mean seriously what actually happened is hard to believe! It's a situation where you have to see it to believe it...
I was driving my truck down to Mass Pike East in the slow lane another trucker was attempting to overtake me in the Middle Lane when he got up next to my cab he blew his right steer tire, first I soiled my shorts at the sound of the explosion while pieces of rubber and parts of his front fender were flying all around me, it even caused damage to my truck, blowouts are no joke there's a lot of pressure on those tires
Steers are no joke. I have a 20K steer axle (heavy float/oversize work), and run 425's. 115-120 psi inside a whole lot of si. I pull 'em when they're 50 to 60% worn and we'll use up the rest on a dump body. Regular alignments as well. Every steer failure I've ever seen has the truck jumping a lane or two to the blowout side, if the driver is lucky enough to have that kind of real estate. If they're only on a two lane and the shoulder is steep, it tends to be a roll over. He must have been just clearing your headlights or the highway gods were playing nice right then. Stay safe trucker.
Yes, was on my brother's Bass Boat 2000 ish on Lake Milton Ohio, has 4 lane w nice fishing spots under the bridge. We were just under it when a truck hit expansion joint blew a tire and threw chunks all around us. Knocked every bird and birdshit from under the entire bridge, think it knocked loose some manshit from both of us too 😂😂😂😂. We moved spots as not sure a si gle fish within a mile would bite after that explosion.

I was medically retired and it’s changed everything in my life mentally and physically. I wish him and anyone else struggling the very best of luck in your recovery.
My papa was ADAMANT about having good quality tires on any vehicle. I know it’s a big rig and it’s very expensive but still. My cars till today, only have Michelin tires on them. All of em. Been using Michelin for 30+ years and not one had issues during their tread life. Towards the end of the life of the tires is when they started to peel and crack but that is understandable. Plus Michelins have such a smooth ride. Expensive as hell but worth every penny.
It has to be the right tire for the vehicle. I was a manager for Firestone, Western Auto and a local Tire Store. In the Eighties Michelin came out with the XA4. Ford put them on Trucks, Lincoln's and some Mercury's. It was a terrible tire for the Twin I Beam and Fords Products because of the Front End Design. You take the XA4 and put it on a Chevy and it was a great tire. The tread was to aggressive for most Ford Vehicles. There are other Manufacturers of Tires that are great. Bridgestone came out with the Bead Filler and it was a minishock around the rim. Best riding tire on the market and great tire life. I have Michelin Tires now that came original equipment on my car. You are right that you want a good tire. It is a little noisy on some road depending on what tyoe of road surface. I alao was a OTR Driver. Some companies are cheap and put retreads on the tandems. They aren't allowed on the steers. I hate retreads because they can be retreaded twice. They don't save money at all and are dangerous on the Interstates especially in the Summer. When one goes out it the newer retread has to match the other perfectly in height. A taller retread or virgin tire the taller tire takes most the weight and a retread peals like a Banana. I believe Retreads should be made illegal on the Interstates. The heat at 70 or 75 MPH is suoer hot inside the tire. I can't tell by the video but the tire that blew was a retread or a virgin that held the weight why the other tire was flat. No matter what it couldn't take the heat. When it comes to always using Michelin Tires, If it isn't broke don't fix it.
One of the main problems is that these tires are patched, repaired, and retreaded so many times they actually blow quit often. Knew a guy that was kneeling down close to one when it blew and took half his face with it. Had to have his face reconstructed with wire mesh and skin graphs.
Oh no, is he ok? I’d love a voice over to explain his injury and an update, I mean I know your video isn’t just for me, but I am so worried about this guy! I’m gonna pray for him right now!
I was renovating a service garage. I took a phone call outside, and a loud boom shook the ground. A few minutes later I walked inside to find a service tech holding his head looking sick. Turns out a tire he was filling started to bulge, so he took the air off and started to walk away. He made it about 7 feet before the bursting tire added another 10 feet and put him on his face. He got hearing aids from that incident. I used our forklift to bring their tire cage inside for them
Good catch, I was thinking it possibly could have have been shrapnel from the pyramids of Egypt exploding but I just couldn’t be quite sure till you pointed it out.

Luckily none of the tire hit me but the boom could be heard down the road at the restaurant I was manager of. They had taken me inside because I could not hear at all for about 30 minutes. I was so frightened thinking I had lost my hearing. I was not injured from the tire however I ended up with tinnitus, terrible shreek like ringing in my ears because of it, for the rest of my life 😭
Hope you sued.

Compensated for what? It was his truck. He's lucky it didn't damage anything else. We feel the same pain always 😢
@@digiquo8143 Very good, I understand. In fact, I keep my tires slightly under- inflated during summer because of the excess heat & air expansion.

Haha
😂😂😂😂 💩💩💩
Except for grader, skidder, loader, and forwarder/processor tires since they don’t fit.
lmao did he really shit himself
Saw a video one time of tire explosion where the guy got turned into stew meat.

@mrl0wk3y33 That was most definitely not my experience!
The way the tire tech showed how concerned he was for the man who was injured.
Prayers to a speedy recovery

My papa was ADAMANT about having good quality tires on any vehicle. I know it’s a big rig and it’s very expensive but still. My cars till today, only have Michelin tires on them. All of em. Been using Michelin for 30+ years and not one had issues during their tread life. Towards the end of the life of the tires is when they started to peel and crack but that is understandable. Plus Michelins have such a smooth ride. Expensive as hell but worth every penny.
I always had budget tyres, never had a problem
I always buy used tires😂😂😂
I agree. The smooth ride alone is worth the money.
