Workers on ships in the North Sea face dangers such as rough weather, icy conditions, fatigue, and the risk of collisions or grounding. One of the most perilous aspects of their job is conducting maintenance and repairs while at sea, especially during storms or adverse weather conditions. And I found that some countries pay less amounts than average, they deserve more for the high risk they take.

We were supposed to out on the bow as part of the initiation, but the Captain wouldn't let us, the waves were too rough, he didn't want any man overboard. I had a terrifying experience being on a yatch and hitting the outside edge of a hurricane when I was 10 years old. Ill never forget hearing the captain giving it all he had going up the waves. Then when we hit the top just before we broke over the wave there was just nothing, no engines to be heard or ocean to be seen. Then going down into the wave being surrounded by nothing but water. It was a terrifying experience. I knew that if we survived that it was the last time I would ever go out in a boat of any size on the ocean ever again.

Wake up to the Captain screaming half in Vietnamese “outside everyone tie tie, you tie you. Ice hold brake.” Waves are crashing over the deck as we go out with ropes tight around us and find the deck cover. To the ice hole is up on the roof still tied, but water dumping in to the belly of the boat. I was only out there for 10 minutes but it felt like a lifetime. Still makes my heart race thinking about it and it’s been 10 Years.

As a previous sailor in the U.S. Coast Guard I have been through similar seas up north in the Bearing Sea of Alaska and north in the Arctic Circle between the U.S. and Russia.
For those Sailors who have been through 30-40 Feet swells all around the world, my respect to you. You personally know what it feels like to have gone through the hands of Neptune.
For those of you who have never been at sea, imagine walking inside a ship on floors and walls as the floor under your feet is nonstop swinging like a parabola 180 degrees back and forth. You can also hear and feel your ship hitting a wall of water that feels more like a concrete wall. Your mind thinks it’s maybe your last breath every 30-60 seconds.
You have to reteach yourself how to walk, eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, and of course work. All while trying not to get sick from your stomach and vomit. Your stomach lets you know you are alive.
The Human Body was not born to be in such environments. I personally have seen people deteriorate and lose 25-30 lbs in 30 days because they are unable to keep food and fluids down. Those are the medical discharges.

Ex Navy, these storms really make me miss the ocean! Some days she'd be so calm it's like a sheet of glass, but when it starts raging, there's no comparison to feeling that raw elemental power. When hurricanes came, we would go out to sea in it to keep the ships from smashing into the docks. The weather decks would be secured, meaning nobody allowed outside, but I did go out and hung on to feel it, having myself a Lt. Dan moment lol

@@PupcakesDogCare OP was giving credit to our men in particular. People can praise men for a moment without being “all inclusive” with women as well. Women get praise all the time - our men are under appreciated. The number of women on the ships in this video is vastly lower than the number of men.

All the old explorers sailing looking to get to Aisa only to find the "new world", would be out in THAT.
    Must've been terrifying at times.
