    The problem is really on us as the consumers. It’s exactly how you explained; one person will see the crazy price difference and pass on the car but the next person will pay that easily and when these manufacturers see no one is fighting back on the prices, of course they will continue to ask for more and more.

    They were so successful because they offered so many engine choices. The people who started with an SXT or RT wanted more power, so they traded up to a scat. They people who started off with Scats traded up to Hellcats. The people who started in Hellcats traded up to Redeys/Jailbreaks. Then the wide bodies dropped. You're now just realizing how old the L-cars are?? Really the 2015 Charger was a minor cosmetic update: refreshed front and rear clips, and updated uconnect, but the interior was unchanged save for color combos.. Yes the 6.2 SC was new, but in an already outdated platform. So really the Charger has remained as-is since 2011. Challenger is the same way- mostly unchanged since 2008, save for minor front end and rear end treatments, the Hellcat and a new interior for 15'- but only because the 08'+ interiors were god awful. The "wide-body" that Dodge tacked on the cars is another cash-grab... They're fender flares, and they do not equal a "wide-body". With that logic, my 2000 Dakota R/T was a wide body; it also came with the Dodge tack-on fender flares. I've been buying Mopars since 1998... I think maybe Dodge had new customers that came along in the past decade fooled, but there's a ton of customers like myself who weren't fooled into buying such outdated cars. Dodge got certain people to pay crazy money for rental cars with big engines. They've been gaming their customers for more than a decade at this point- don't get it mixed up.

    I agree with you for the most part. However many things were changed from the hellcat. Now I don’t agree with the amount it’s hiked but it is worth noting- they revamped the hellcat gave more power and changed the intake and snorkel while changing it from maf to map. Added a wide body. So all and all take 59k+ gas tax=62k+ intake 1000,+ hood 1000k, +wide body 3k=67k. Then mark ups and then profit. Yeah it’s bs. They all do that. this is why it pays to build your own. The redeye and up were different. You got better drive shaft, axils, bigger blower, stronger block, hood, wide body, line lock, wider tires all 4. It’s not just a blower on the redeye. Scats yeah you guys got screwed. But really what else were they going to do making a heavier car then everyone else no boost. Make it nasty as possible high compression 6.4 making more hp and tq for years running out of the na 6.4 until the now 250k zo6 lives which allowed competition with the camaro and mustangs until they start doing modifications as we all know less weight and after market always equates to better than stock parts or close to dodge which means you lose. Now the 18 scats plus got the hellcat blocks so a ton of power could be had if one were to build it. Yeah it’s stupid pricey today but what other car do you know for a long stretch that has a power plant capable of 1500whp. The point is they never needed to change because nobody else stock comes close in power numbers and they aren’t revamping the body to make it like a mustang or camaro

    Aside from the ‘market adjustments’ on sticker I don’t think the car industry itself is so much scamming customers, as is inflation itself via the Fed Reserve running up their balance sheet since 2019 and then raising interest rates on top of that. With inflation comes higher manufacturing costs as the increased expenses trickle up from every part and component maker and from their own raw material sources & energy costs. Profit margins themselves should still be relatively the same across dealers, manufacturers, banks, etc. simply because they’re always going to pass their increased costs along to the consumer. And I think guys like OCM and WBN have touched upon these subjects in select videos some if not many times. It’s a frustrating issue and the 2023 Last Call is making it even worse.

    at least the 3.6 and 6.4 has only been around since 2012 ish...the 5.7 r/t aside from a few tweaks since its debut in 2004 will run you 46k + in a 2023 chally or charger which also hasn't changed hardly any in the past 6 or so years..just imagine paying 50k for a new one when you could cop a used one for just 29k and it'll practically be the exact same car with more mileage of course...

  • @chucksummerlin6694
    @chucksummerlin6694 Год назад

    Nah… I deal in material and resource availability and the raw ‘cost’ of all of it has skyrocketed. To be able to buy simple things that for years had a consistent price expectation, no longer exists. Not only is the price of those simple things up, but the availability we had is simply not there so for these businesses to make money and stay in business, they have to account for that and be strategic about their pricing / profit margins. Demand is high but if they could supply, you wouldn’t wait for 4 months for a new vehicle. No businesses can forecast an accurate forecast on revenue with all the unexpected factors that that they are faced with that can lower the profits and potentially put them out of business so they have jacked up the price to play it safe and also, BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP PAYING THE PRICES THEY SET. I know because I’m one of them. Example, if I know I’m capable of providing a service like installing home alarm systems but know that it’s hit or miss on whether I will have what I need to complete an installation, I’m going to make sure I can secure what is required to do the job which might be paying more for equipment that is in a shortage scenario, but I’m going to charge a lot more for the service because I know that I don’t have the security of a job right after that because of all the shortfalls stacked against me that I used not have to worry about. I don’t know maybe but to me, the market is decided by the consumer and the availability and cost of owning one of these would be lower, if not as many people wanted them.

    Inflation from 2015 to now is approximately up 25%, so $1 then is now $1.25. If you take 40k and add in 25% inflation, then you’re at 50k. That doesn’t take Into consideration steel prices and prices for other goods increasing in sectors that affect car production. Like every brand, you have a handfuls of vendors that make parts for them so when all those vendors increase costs, they charge more to make the same amount of money in the end. It just costs more to make the same thing from an apples to apples comparison. I’m sure they have chosen when to increase and by how much but you’re seeing normal market forces and inflation doing their thing. They in turn have to pay their employees more and overall cost of doing business just has risen and risen.

    I literally said this years ago. But I also came to the realization that Dodge never forced people to buy $65k scats and $110k hellcats. Why would they change anything if you continuously throw money at them regardless of what they do??
    You as the consumer set the precedent. You bought it. And when they were blatantly fucking you over, you kept buying it. People with 22 Redeyes really sat there and said, “I’m trading in for a Jailbreak.” There are more examples but I’m pretty sure you get the idea. Blame the non car people that saturated Dodge’s fan base.
