DODGE REALLY MESSED THIS UP! COULD'VE BEEN A SUCCESS WITH THIS STRATEGY..NOW THEY'RE SCREWED

- In this video I share my thoughts and opinion on how Dodge could've made the new 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona into a successful launch with a simple shuffle of names and common sense.

I still haven’t seen one hornet on the road since launch. Almost like they don’t even exist.
Me either. Literally haven't seen one on the road. There is a Gold color one here at the Dodge dealership by me here in TN that's been parked out front for damn near 1 full year now. Just rotting in the sun lol.
Same. Not once since I moved to NC 2 years ago.
I finally saw an idiot driving one thee other day
Only time ive seen them is driving past the dodge dealer piled up at the entrance. No one wants them.
I stay in Georgia. I've seen several hornets on the road
I'm still blown away that Dodge didn't do a Hybrid system and keep the Hemi. They could have even gone smaller displacement if needed, and lighten the cars up slightly. But no....they go full EV weighing in at 5800lbs, LOL. No one wants that horseshit. Also, it's a disgrace they put the Scat Pack name on that new EV. We know now Dodge doesn't pay attention to Ford's mistakes (Mach-E disaster).
They literally copied their blueprint.
Mercedes is smart enough to backtrack and go hybrid system instead of full ev.
If Dodge doesn’t get into the EV game they will be totally fuked…should they have done it with these performance vehicles ? probably not. Unfortunately the ice hemi and similar engines are to inefficient and dirty and are as dead as dead can get.
I think Dodge does pay attention to Fords mistakes to an extent. The Charger EV is still a car after all, NOT A CROSSOVER.
@@chrisvig123nah, they really screw’d themselves by removing Ram from Dodge. The reason why Ford is still able to put V8s in their Mustangs is because they have the F series pickups in their lineup. So with those and their EVs, it balances out what they need in credits to keep their V8s.
@@jonathancolbert6666good point.
Ev's are not muscle cars period
And CARBON CREDITS are a lie! What actually does this tax accomplish? Where do they scoop the carbon amount out of the air? Where do they put it?
100% correct by definition EV's can't be muscle, they do not have a V8 engine, that alone makes it impossible to be considered Muscle.
Just" vacuum cleaner motors "..Keep EV.. i would rather walk
Even the twin turbo inline 6 won’t do it, it has to be V8 for the top trims. EV-TT6-V8
In my personal opinion, Dodge should have just stayed the way they were BEFORE the Stellantis merged. I was always told "if it ain't btoke, don't try to fix it". Dumbest Muscle car move ever. I completely agree with your take on this travesty.
When i heard the fake exhaust speaker thing on it i daym near spit my drink up..
We thought the decade of the k cars were a mistake.
Hold my beer!
My grandma owned an Aries K back in the day. It was horrendous.
KCars allowed Chrysler to build the Viper, purchase Lamborghini and produced the Diablo…so yea
God that Reliant was a catastrophe of a crackerbox
Some K cars had a hemi 😆
@@oliverdelgado6952 the hemi 4 cylinder right?
I totally agree with you
Dodge went full EV. You Never Go Full EV!!!
Dodge and Tim Kuniskis ain’t that smart! “I Told You So” 😂
So no heat for Carlos Tavares the actual decision maker at Stellantis
Based on the Jay Leno interview with Tim, he seems like a crazy gear head and truely in love with his hemi products. I dont think he wanted the company to move in the direction it did.
5800 lbs is exactly what my 1997 F-250 4x4 7.3 extended cab long wheel base pick up weighs. WOW !
You can say "I told you so!"
100% With you !!
This almost feels like an engineered implosion of some of the automakers. Horrible decisions by management!!!
Definitely is… agenda 2030… net zero… it’s all the same nonsense. All across the nation/world. Self sabotage for “muh green agenda” “muhhh net zero” muh diversity etc
I agree! At $25k is a good price for that p.o.s
Great point there are tons of SXT’s around here too. I remember when they launched the Neon, they were everywhere. Where is the small car EV? Make them fit the $30k or lower. Put the gimmicky stuff on those. Advertise it’s quicker than a WRX to 60mph
I would agree with you on hornet. Local dealer has one for 45k. I told salesman not worth it. 3 months later it's still in showroom. Red flag
That's crazy. I bet if it was 35k or less people would buy em
@@BigJoe2.0 ... I'm thinking they should start around $25k like a Corolla or Trailblazer or Mazda CX-30. It's a tiny SUV. Maybe fully loaded for $35. No way in hell should it go for $45 though. Can't imagine what they were thinking.
Who really wants an Alfa Romeo?
Ya I agree. The scat pack name should have stayed with the gas engine and the RT too. Come up with something different for the EV cars. I do like the Hornet. But the marketing around it was off for sure. I think it's a nice SUV.
Hopefully next year things are better with the release of the inline 6.
It's a disgrace they put the Scat Pack name on this EV. Same thing with the Six Pack name, it doesn't make any sense. The EVs should have had a completely new naming scheme. Ford did the same thing with the Mach-E. No wonder they can't sell those things, all the die hard Mustang customers think Ford are a bunch of clowns for that one.
@@Ryan-ds2wx that's true but the mach-E allowed Ford to make the Mustang GTD whilst stellantis is trying to tell us a junk EV with a speaker as a suitable replacement for a hellcat. Dodge should have room for a bloody Viper in its line up if it bothered doing things right like making goofball throwaway EVs with famous monikers for the geeks who like them and more importantly to get the EPA off its back.
Tim is sneaky, dont be surprised when after all this next year brings a Hemi
Pretty sure he gets his marching orders from his boss, Tavares.
I think what they are putting out is about all Tim could make happen.
Great video and thanks for the info
Dodge's marketing team should have been fired years ago.
Have you gone for a Dodge Thrill Ride? That is marketing genius.
@@richardweyland116 Sure, but you do know that they stopped making the cars that they used for those thrill rides?
Are you crazy before this, the hellcat commercials and demons were amazing. And have you forgotten the dodge brothers commercials...... Dodge dominated auto commercials, especially the predator commercial with the hellcat hunting at night.
Its not really a team, its outsourced to large agencies, not even sure who they're with anymore. It was BBDO before Fiat fired them
Hopefully they will start making the Challenger again 😎They will regret stopping it. Excellent video
It actually weighs 3 tons
True! lol. Insane
Bravo OC! Absolutely, brilliant and you have my vote to be the new CEO of Dodge. Time to step down Kuniskis.
I agree that they have blown it with their strategy. However, Stellantis apparently wants to drive Dodge into the ground right before they cover it up with dirt.
I have owned the finest Chrysler cars made, two 1969 Chargers, one a rare 440 RT/SE & I had two 1970 Challenger', one a 440 R/T.
I had a 1971 Demon & a 2-door 1971 Swinger.
Then in 1985 I swallowed the new direction Chrysler went with the Omni chassie cars, I had a brand new 1985 Dodge Shelby Charger & a 1986 Daytona Turbo-Z, along with a convertible K-car. Even with the then new hot 4 cylinder turbo cars & the famous muscle car names just didn't resonate like the late 60's & early 70's iconic Mopar muscle.
Here we go again. Tim K should be ashamed of selling out to the Green BS administration, the future of Mopar is worrisome as a long time big fan of Chrysler cars.
Today I own a 2014 Challenger R/T Blacktop Edition & a 2021 Ram Limited Night Edition with Hemi E-Torque, so I have been waiting patiently for thd next true big thing from Mopar.
You have good taste in cars. I have 69 Chargers and two 440 R/T SE's. I also have 'Cudas.
Def sounds like Dodge could've paid more attention to people like yourself. A page out of history would do this company some good. Like the saying goes, "the road to hell is paved in good intentions".
@@richardweyland116 Nice rides.
@VchaosTheoryV It sure the Hell is, a good quote for this unfortunate mess Mopar is in now.
Well I worked as a sales manager at a CDJR store for the last 5 years, I moved on to Greener pastures with that said CDJR has raised a price is 50% in the last 5 years, we had a 300 day supply of cars when I left, the store cannot turn a profit. I just hope that you will not be seeing dealerships evaporate across the country. They re-invoice the cars over $4,000 less, put 6750 in rebates on RT chargers with 0% interest. They cannot sell their cars now they come out with this EVBS I would never buy one. They could have came out with a smaller V8 engine like Ford that would be a emission compliant, what they did is what Budweiser did with Bud light, they are never going to recoup their losses from this one. Not to mention the low quality, and poor resale value on the whole Jeep line. And don't get me started with the wagoneer, it cost the dealership $1 million to redo the showroom and now they're just going to make it into a Jeep again. Bad decision after bad decision. The dealerships cannot take any more flooring costs, unfortunately this brand is doomed.
"that's my trap phone" 💀😂
Totally agree with ALL of your points. What a missed opportunity 🤦🏾♂️.
Too bad you don't work for Stelantis. They have definitely lost out on your idea. I feel as frustrated as you do.
Well said! I love my hellcat and don't see myself letting it go, but if I do it will be a GT500 or Z06! Dodge is dead to me with this new crap they are pushing on us. They need to stop calling it a muscle car. It's not and will never be. Bad move dodge.
I thought they made a huge mistake by making the charger a sedan in the 1st place!
Yeah, but it actually made sense and worked. I actually like the look of the Chargers now with the 4 doors.
@@Coonazz791
I kept my 66 and strongly disagree with the sedan working or looking good.
They are all over the road, every different version of them. Id say it was a success @bidensucks6792
@@bidensucks6792 to each his own. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean many others don’t.
They should really listen to and take considerations from their fans/consumers.
Fan service has been costing Dodge money, not making Dodge money. They are swinging the pendulum too far away to be successful, though.
I think you hit the nail right on the head, my friend.
Clearly with how the Hornet has been a complete sales disaster they really need to rethink their entire product planning and marketing plan because it isn't working. I completely agree that if they had rolled out things SXT and GT it would have made way more sense.
I'm over here yelling at my phone like WHYYY DIDNT THEY DO THISSS!! 😂 this makes perfect sense lol. OC FOR CEO!
Why they didn’t make a Challenger model with maybe an interior refresh similar to the new Charger boggles my mind. Now people are realizing these EV’s, though fast, aren’t “green” in any way shape or form.
Unfortunately, not enough. So many still believe these things are the future.
OCMotivator Friend keep up the great work 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😃😃💪💪💪👍👍👍👍
Dude I love your content you’re the man
While I disagree wholeheartedly with you about the benefits of having an EV from Dodge that looks so much better than anything other companies are putting out there, you are absolutely correct with how Dodge mismanaged this terribly.
Making the EVs the lower trim levels makes sense. Having a super high performance EV model also makes sense.
Good news is this- we’ve been through this before in the 70s-80s. Had to gut performance due to EPA regulation. It’ll circle back again some day.
You are so spot on
I agree with you 100% you nailed it 👍👍
You're 100% spot on. They should hire you at helm of creative control. I'm sure heads have rolled over the hornet launch failure!
A hornet was a amc car and amc built there cars with all the spare parts from all the major car manufacturers , in 60 years old and i worked on them . Lmao
Ya. I looked those original hornets up and wasn’t impressed.
Not entirely true. Engines were made by AMC (199/232/258 even 304 and SC 360) and so were the differentials (model 20). Everything interior was made by AMC. Certain parts had to be sourced being that AMC was a tiny manufacturer compared to Big 3 and just didn’t have the $ to engineer all components itself.
I prefer a old hornet
Great video
Your strategy makes a lot of sense. I have a Charger RT and could see me in a 6 cylinder with 500 hp.
I agree oc 💯
Agree with everything u just said my guy💯💯💯💪🏿
You are 100% correct with everything you said from start to finish. The marketing is the major problem.
Lol the major issue is that its an ev. A v8 is like a lion and an ev is like a cheetah, it maybe faster but noone cares and it isnt respected when the lion roars.
While you're correct, you should also recognize that the Lion in terms of sales numbers is actually the SXT. Would you take an EV over the SXT? @@jasonthomas9319
Agree 200% with you!!
I really wanted to get a 2023 charger widebody scat pack, but after watching your videos, I'm not sure if that's a good idea now
Every time I see a hornet I be saying who’s that stupid driving that car 😂😂
Facts!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
it had the new dodge commercial ad on your video , how ironic lol
I totally agree with you I hope Dodge watches this🙌🙌❤️
Batteries are $20,0000. You have to charge a premium. A Hemi cost $10,000 to build maybe. IDK I'm a Ford guy I've done the math for Mustang GT 500s vs the Mach=E. The battery cost more that the Cobra motor and transmission .
You are so right, I am 61 and like my Dodge brand vehicles . I have four . Two Trucks 2500 Longhorn , 1500 Laramie, grand caravan R/T and a challenger widebody 392 T/A. R/T .
Yes, YES!!! I was actually thinking some of the same things, but didn’t have my thoughts quite as organized as you do. That’s exactly how they should have done it. They should have figured it out.
This is a complete disaster that we have now.
Great video Brad. If only Dodge would listen and continue making real muscle cars.
Spot on!
Once again Brad called it just like I was saying all along roll out the Sxt & Gt version first see how the public reacts to that then yes save the R/t Scat for the GAS engines😮😮😮.
You said it . That makes perfect since I had 3 dodge challenger sxts loved that car it looked cool and it was good on gas . Traded my last challenger for a Camaro LT1 in 2020 because I was offered a good deal .
Oh my God you make so much sense I think you just sold me on the new six-pack HO
Very Smart Thinking Thanks for your video i like it Smart Thinking
You said everything I would say. Gas car will be here for awhile. Thanks!
Commie comrade Carlos stuck it to us all. I agree, your line of thinking on the rollout would've been much better.
Someone lied to Dodge and said , EVs are all the rage right now so let's take a popular car and add this trendy
What you’re saying makes perfect sense.
The 2024 charger looks great inside and out. It will look even better when they option new packages and decals but when it comes to an EV I am not in the least bit interested
I agree this is a really good foundation for what could've been a much more reasonable transition to EV. Also why didn't they just make the Hornet/Tonale an EV in base models and have a few sporty ones i.e. RT & GT as ICE. They unfortunately have been slowly blowing up the brand for the past several years. Great vid good content
You make a good point, that roll-out you explained would have been a lot better
Like @theblackcarguru said, have they done anything about the security system?
We're thinking along the same lines. Im working on some redesigns to show for my next video....based on the current thing, but fixing a lot of its issues (plus, adding hideaway head lights...because, cmon! lol)
Lots of photoshopping though...gotta get enough nice shots of this thing.
Dodge hornet rt plus in my town msrp 53860 for 1.3 liter inline 4 is insane , Raynham mass
I was talking w/ local Ford dealership and they said the Mach E isn't selling. Maybe its because they were lined up next to the 2024 Mustang GT.
I would like to see Dodge release an $27,000 SXT and $29,000 GT Charger with a 300hp 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine.
I LOVE my Hellcats! I’m sooo disappointed in Dodge. I agree with all that you said, except I’m not even really on board with the 6cyl. They should’ve done a new gen Hemi. They clearly aren’t very smart. GM and Ford are about to see a huge sales increase in C8’s and ‘Stangs.
Brad, I love the way you tell it like it is. Unfortunately, I think Dodge is incapable of learning from their mistakes, and other's mistakes. All of your thoughts and ideas make sense to me.
Had a 2019 ScatPack Charger and had to sell it for family reasons. Lived the brand and what it stood for. I agree with you. Even a Hemi Six-In-A-Row and ready to go, would’ve been the ticket as a transition while appeasing the greenewdeal duds. But the drop trow and bend over maneuver they pulled with this administration lost me for good.
You are 100% right! I hope Dodge (Tim K.) listen to you. I’m not a buyer of these cars. It’s very very sad.
Give us a HEMI'!!! We need our cars! All these EV''s are gonna put you out of business!! Got my last call!! And I'm sticking to it!
Here's a clue about EV's: Apple dumped its pursuit of making an electric car. They have more money than probably all the car makers combined and after a decade they are shutting this project down. So if a company like Apple that has plenty of money to invest in this technology decides it's not worth it, why should any respectable car company keep producing them? Without the mandates, fines, carbon credit scam I think the auto makers would have done a bette job of assessing the market and not produce them. Just a suggestion, try getting your news from outside CA. Try going to Australia - MGUY Australia and get some really good concise info on EV's from an engineer who knows cars.
ABSOOOLOOOTLEEE
You're absolutely correct Brad. Stellantis completely screwed up this lineup and could have done a far better job with it. They got too anxious clearly with the EVs and took their sights off the 6 cylinder model's potential. I've even seen other people comment not just here but in the past where the hemi could have had a hybrid system which was done a few years ago with the RAM trucks and those who don't think that this would have been a good idea should really look at how they pulled this off with those trucks because they could have worked with this platform as well..
They did what they did for two reasons. 1) consolidate lines to cut costs. 2) epa told them to.
Well said. Kuniskis is a hack. Just the fact they did a promo video using cgi and not the actual car speaks volumes…. I’ve been watching the chargers the last 10 months ready to buy one. But won’t pay the crazy mark ups. I don’t need the car, but I want one. I’m excited to see the new Charger, but what they’ve done is tragic. The twin turbo six has my interest….
3 min 51 seconds! That is funny!😂
Glad im not the only one who feels like this...I've been saying dodge should have given us 4 trims for the charger, a 325 hp EV SXT, 355 hp GT, 475 hp I6 and a revamped 550 hp 6.4 scat and since the challenger is the last true muscle car anyway it should have had 2 trims, the same 6.4 as the charger and an N/A 426 with 600+ hp and that would be the only SRT
Agreed they should have promoted them as the SXT and RT. And they should tried to keep the price between 37k and 42k for the EVs.
Also, they should have came out with a Smaller, Lighter (3500-3700lbs) Car and called it "Cuda" or something. That car wouldn't be a direct replacement for the Challenger, but the Mustang, M4, crowd. Which would have been a Surprise and more acceptable.
Then have a Hybrid Hurricane (like Chevy E-Ray) with 800-900hp they could call the Hellcat. And a Plaid Competitor EV with 1000-1200hp called the Red-Eye or the Demon.
And one last thing, they shouldn't have shown the Cars until the Actual Vehicles were ready with sound and everything, including a sneak of the Banshee. In a live setting, like the Demon 170. And raced them against the Old Cars... Tim really dropped the Ball... I know that was a lot. Okay I'm finished.
Dodge could care less. Its obvious AF
They put a stop sale on them last night!!!
Hornet isn't even a Dodge name. It's something they dug out of the AMC/Hudson junk drawer. I'm surprised they didn't call the all wheel drive version the Eagle.
Not for nothing but several smaller RUclipsrs have already posted this idea. But yes, it is a fantastic idea that Dodge will ignore.
Weight reduction and inline 6 turbo would have been amazing 😢
I was shocked at how big it is. They should have shrunk it. I also hoped it was going to be a liftback style too.
The Hornet was bad planing from the get-go because unlike the Dart when that was American made with USDM engines to separate it from it's European market version, the genius decided to make the crap in Italy and you get Italian results..
Replacing all bottom tier or base models with cheap EVs is a great idea, there's no need for V6 and turbo 4 pony cars, offer them as EVs or hybrids for the non-enthusiasts that just want to 'look cool' and offer high power V8s for the people who want to muscle car. They should do that throughout the line up and free up those credits for top trim performance models with V8s that people actually want and will spend money on.
The problem with this is they'd have to sell twice as many EV chargers as the Mach-E's because they paid 10 billion to Tesla alone last year. How do you make that up when their brand isn't selling period. Nobody is buying Chargers or Challengers period.
💯
I like how he referred to it 6 cyl cats as “those people”
I didn't know that there is a Dodge Hornet... I'm now coming out from under the rock I live
Well done, agreed.
And, Alfa Romeo has never sold well in the USA. Never has, never will. Same with Fiat.
Like when they said scatpack aren’t srt but charging srt prices
110% agree with you. As far as the HEMI though i would have rather them give the 6cyl as a high option as opposed to the 318 or even the old magnum's while they retune and re-engineer the new HEMI. Killing off the best known v8 everywhere has to be the dumbest idea ever
Dude, I so want the Charger EV, going to trade in my jelly bean Chevy Bolt for that Bad Ass looking Charger EV to daily drive. I'll keep my gas money for my Trans am and Challenger and daily my Charger EV!! You are so right though, I hope they do a limited Hemi run and a base model comes out that's slower, lighter, doesn't make sound, has cloth interior and a lot cheaper, because that's all I need.
