Calling an electric car a muscle car is like calling a microwaved ribeye steak a "char-broil gourmet" tomahawk
Ev's r like an air fryer
And they’ll still bust a swinger.

Dodge and the CEO are delusional, the videos from Dodge and advertising is beyond out of touch. I love to scream “WERE NOT BUYING IT! HELLO, WAKE UP”! 🤷🏻
I mean it’s not really delusion. I think the delusion is on anyone who thought the new cafe standards wouldn’t kill muscle cars. Yes, the pricing issues are greed but getting rid of muscle cars is a direct effect of the green movement. People voted for this 🤷🏻♂️
Every commercial I just immediately skip...absolutely no interest
@@Michael-ur5qb Exactly right, and the HEMIs had to be on the top of the list for engines that would have to be killed. Right on the invoice of my Scat Pack, I read it had a SMOG rating of 1 (the worst).
Your opinion on EV is right on. Appreciate you holding firm. Anyone who says any ev is a muscle car hasnt sat in or driven a muscle car, hasnt experienced the frequencies, shakes and rumbles. 👊
But thats what the fratzonic chamber, rumble feature, and e-rupt shifting is for! Its gonna be muscle baby! MuScLe*! 😂
"Fart-zonic" chamber has a better ring to it.😂
I need to my N64 controller rumble pack, that is more muscle than an ev
Muscle cars are the kind of cars you can mod yourself extensively. Even a Crown Vic with an eBay supercharger and tune is more of a muscle car than EV. Part of the magic was garage super cars. You don't get that with EVs.
Today's Car Edge video with the 95,000 dollar Ford Lightning Platinum showed the trade in value with 500 miles was 39,000 dollars. Buy an ev and feel the pain.
I listen to car edge every day
A low ball cash offer isn't same as actual trade in value. What does KBB show?

You’re absolutely right! Thank you for making this video. People need to hear that EV’s are not muscle cars.
Unfortunately, there is always a sucker who will think that. Simply canot fix stupid.
Most EV owners are straight up dumb at this point.

They don't!
Your Dodge Swinger is sweet, your opinion is on point, great job!
Nicest Car EVER , i love the Shaker scoops ❤
Looks like the taxpayers will have to bail out these car companies if they continue producing these electric cars.
Look how expensive new gas cars have gotten now; the car companies are just making the rest of us subsidize the electric car grift
Fitting since it's the government forcing this trash down our throats.
Not an American company anymore.
@@karols432The great EV tax
The taxpayers bailed them out before there were EVs correct?🤔
Imagine restoring a 69 superbee. Now imagine restoring a 2024 charger Ev, 28 yrs later. Not happening because like the next best phone ,throwaways
You are so right 👍
Exactly!
Funny enough, I collect and restore old electronics, but I agree with the analogy. EV's have no soul. You could just take one from 28 years from now and give it a body swap, and it'll be the same thing. No one would know because they can't hear if there's a 426 Hemi or an LS swap in there.
all this battery crap is a lie from the cars to the mowers
Absolutely, they’re trying to change the definition of a muscle car. It’s like calling a bbq chop fillet steak.
Agreed 100%
7:34 I would say these evs are like switching out the burgers with tofu. It'll fill us up, but hardly anyone is satisfied.
Microwaving veggie burgers
They should have gone the Corvette E-Ray route. Make it a smaller, more fuel-efficient V8 hybrid AWD.
People forget that EV's lose hp as the miles rack up. At 50,000 miles it's guaranteed that an ev will not be making the same power than when it was new. And the more miles the less power the battery is going to make. A Scat Pack or Hellcat with 100,000 miles with maintenance will be making very close if not the same hp.
More likely to have massive lifter problems or transmission problems.
@@ahoneyman if u think so everyone done have that issue lots of don't have that issue
@@ahoneyman No it's not. Batteries will fail prematurely and that will total out your 3 yr old ev.

You are absolutely correct with everything you said in this video. I cannot add anything extra to what you said. Thank You for addressing the elephant in the room so to speak.
You, Sir, are so right! EV’s are NOT muscle cars. They weigh too much and cost far too much, at least for me. The EV platform is too heavy because of the battery and the resale has been dropping like a rock lately. Com on, Dodge. Get back to making real muscle cars for us. I love my Challenger and will buy another one but it must NOT be an EV.. Besides, I’m hearing that insuring an EV is about to go through the freaking roof.
I completely agree with you 100% Brad. Anyone can jump into an electric vehicle and out accelerate any internal combustion engine car. Electric vehicles remove any kind of skill needed to maximize acceleration therefore always being consistent. Unlike an internal combustion engine vehicle will take practice. The majority of drag racing races you end up winning or losing based on your reaction time on the tree. Especially when you have similar vehicles with equal power. That’s where skill comes into play not to mention, makes it fun.
Here's my $0.02. The Dodge brand has focused so much on being a muscle car/vehicle manufacturer that it puts them in an odd position when they try to deviate from what they have been doing with the Charger and Challenger. They really can't go back to being a company that makes economic vehicles because, as we've seen with the Hornet, those vehicles get no credit from Dodge enthusiasts. People who want economic vehicles have fled Dodge and have gone to other companies for sedans like Honda, Kia, Hyundai, etc. The financial type buyers who were still with Dodge were only with Dodge for the Durango and Charger. Dropping those two means that the enthusiasts are the only ones Dodge still sees as potential customers. So when they decided to move with the Hornet and this next-generation Charger, they felt forced to cater to that group, so they pushed these vehicles as hard as they could on the marketing side of things as muscle cars.
IMO, they shouldn't have bothered with this and should have left the EVs to Chrysler. Electrifying the 300 would have been a much better route since these EVs will come with a cost premium anyway, and those are the customers with the most buying potential. Build it on the same platform as the new Chargers but retain some of the older design and make the whole thing aerodynamic. Doing it this way would give them the most significant potential for sales since the Charger will likely sell better as an ICE vehicle, and they could focus on delivering that to the market quicker instead of waiting a whole year. All they would need to do to retain those economic buyers at that point would be to drop the I4 Hurricane engine under the hood for the SXT and GT versions of the car. Give the RT trim the SO I6 and the SRT/Scat trim the HO version of the engine. I would go a step further and grab the 3.8L V8 from Maserati and modify it into a 4.0L engine with some parts compatibility with the Hurricanes to replace the Hellcat (rigidify the block and change the crank, bore, and stroke to match the Hurricane so it can use the same pistons and conrods, give it the same turbos, give it a standard computer system an not the Maserati/Alfa/ Fiat nonsense that requires special scan tools, etc.). Give them all 4Xe as an option with RWD as the standard and make them upgradeable to AWD. Dodge would not only retain the overwhelming majority of their loyal customers but also beat the EPA at their game of Chicken regarding carbon credits. If Cadilac can get 25 MPG from the less aerodynamic CT6 with the 4.2 Blackwing engine and an always-on AWD system, I see no reason why Dodge can't exceed that with the Charger in RWD if they can get the weight down. That's granted, Stellantis lowers the prices and does something to keep their dealerships from falling through the cracks. If they want to add other economic vehicles to their lineup, they need to keep the muscle car theme going with lower prices and this strategy and slowly chip away from the other companies' customer bases. If they do this and take whatever vehicles they add over to Chrysler as EVs, they could potentially reverse the damage.
The higher trims won’t sell without a V8, end of story.
I found it strange Dodge stopped the Dart,Avenger,Journey and their hot selling Grand Caravan and Durango!! They had all those and the Charger and Challenger..They covered all sizes of cars and that was smart..Going all out on just Muscle Cars was actually not true either because NO V6 is a muscle car nor 4 door only the V8 Challenger was a muscle car.
Dodge could have had electric Dart's (Fiat 500 has an all electric version) and had a electric or hybrid Caravan and a new Journey and have electric versions of those and had at least a HEMI V8 Charger
@@mypronouniswtf5559what’s funny is that I have a 16 dart, one of the last ones, they’re cheap and not to mention quick as hell with the little tiger shark it has, but the issue was they never improved it, they could have 100% I improved mine over ten fold, it gets god tier mileage compared to a lot of other vehicles with the same displacement
I'm a senior as well as a Muscle Car enthusiast, I've owned several early 70's Challengers, and of late a 2019 ScatPack Challenger Shaker 6 speed manual I ordered new although currently driving a 19' GT350, .I agree with what your saying and maybe it's a generational thing that the younger drivers only know these newer vehicles as there associated by name to the originals. The current offering of performance is fading away as I saw it before in the mid 70's, this time killing the performance image with EV's. To me muscle cars had a feel and a sound along with a manual transmission. The auto manufacturers are focusing to the younger drivers who are more accepting of these vehicles.
My Grandfather Alfred was a Big Dodge guy thru n thru. His baby was his Blue 66 Dodge coronet 440. I think this EV crap would have been the deal breaker of him being brand loyal anymore. R.I.P GRANDPA AL.
Grandad n the dodge Brothers spinning in their Graves rn!
I’ve owned a couple Challengers over the years, ultimately selling my last one a few years ago. I’m now debating my dream purchase (Porsche 911 or an Aston Martin Vantage), not that I’m looking for a status symbol, but I want a car with a “soul”. No offense to EV owners/future owners but I’d never consider buying one - regardless of how fast it is. It’s shocking that an iconic brand like Dodge would destroy a loyal customer base so spectacularly.
Brad you be the man
Do yall think we'll be able to swap the dash from the EV into the prior year chargers and challies
And that 1950 panamera race was won by Paul Goldsmith who still alive and he's 98 years old very famous NASCAR and Indy driver
I agree Brad, quality control of ‘23’s was poor, EV’s are bs and can’t compare to the hemi muscle.
Agreed. Let’s not get started on Not even enough charge stations and electrical grid can’t handle this switch.
"Muscle car" is a very vague term. Many believe the origin was for the initial Pontiac GTO, where a large cubic inch V8 exclusive to the full size model was placed in the lighter midsize Lemans coupe & convertible. Mustangs, Camaros, & Challengers and the long gone Baracuda & Javelin are instead "pony cars", penned by a car magazine writer many years ago when comparing cars intended to compete directly with the Mustang.
A muscle car by original lineage was a sedate 2 door coupe stuffed with an oversized engine and some other performance goodies.
Awesome rant!! Well said.
Well done video Brad , BBQ analogy was great, hilarious 😂 and true . New EV technology has its place but it is not in the muscle car world.
Amen brother. Very few knows what a muscle car means anymore. God help us. This is the definition of what being a American heritage and pride.
Have you thought about upgrading your oil pump to a Mallig or a Hellcat pump? Might help save your engine due to the extended idle time during these vids.
You should have worked cricket burgers into your analogy, lol.
😂
OC, I love your channel! Question, what do you do to keep your wheels so clean? Have you swapped your brake pads? Mine stay filthy no matter how much I clean them!
Honestly the challenger, the 5th gen camaro and the 5.0 mustangs all did great capturing the retro era. Went from hearing about legendary muscle cars then to see them come back and go away its wild
I'm with you !!!
Yup u hit it right on the button, Evs look good on paper but it should never b called a muscle car ..🤦...there just high powered golf carts .✌️

Agreed an Electric Vehicle is not a muscle car
I agree with you 110% 👍👍
I just watched a 1965 mustang fastback video and wow what a beautiful muscle car. I’m not a ford man
I like your analogy with the burgers, and it would be my opinion that these EV Chargers are the veggie burgers in the barbecue world 😂
Or cricket sandwiches lol
Dodge should have kept the SRT team intact, further refined the 6.2 supercharged engine, refreshed the body of both cars, reducing weight, changed to AWD, and renamed the trim as THUNDERCAT
The smell, sounds, and vibrations from the ICE, which is a V8 front mounted rear drive platform, are a muscle car.
They can be turned to whatever your budget is.
EVs don't have it, and they can't really be upgraded.
Amen my brother 🙌
5800+ lbs and a top speed of 137 mph does not make a muscle car regardless of the equivalent HP numbers.
Thinking that an EV can be a muscle car is like thinking Dylan Mulvaney is a woman.
Exactly. Just because you say you are, doesn’t mean that you really are.
A history lesson for everyone: The term 'Muscle Car' originated in 1964 with the Pontiac GTO. At that time, the GTO featured over 300HP thanks to its 389 cubic inch V8 engine. It also had a 3-speed manual transmission, enhanced suspension, a racing aesthetic, and was track-ready. Importantly, it was affordable for the average person. Since then, a 'muscle car' has come to signify a vehicle with an intimidating appearance and a powerful engine. In recent times, the meaning has somewhat diluted. Customizing new cars has become less affordable, and manufacturers have introduced various new models of 'Muscle,' 'Pony,' and 'Sports' cars for track competition. Combined with the Restomod community and sleeper builds, the definition of muscle has become even more ambiguous. However, one constant remains: electric vehicles were not part of the original 'muscle car' concept. Therefore, it's reasonable to conclude that Muscle, Pony, and Sport cars retain their traditional definitions, while EV-based vehicles belong to a distinct category. When an EV competes with another EV, the comparison is valid only if it involves different battery types, such as Lithium Ion versus Nickel Hydride, where one boasts greater performance output than its competitor. To end this rant, an EV can be classified as an "Electric Muscle" car but only as a separate classification IMO unless we are only allowing the term to be used for ICE vehicles I.E., "Electric-Muscle" vs "Muscle" car. EV is like lemon juice whereas ICE vehicles are like Sugar. You can like both, but the two are literally different and cannot be classified as the same thing.
I don't think the idea of Dodge making an electric vehicle is solely about whether or not it's a muscle car. It's about providing consumers with more options. It's difficult for me to believe that a company with so many intelligent individuals would decide to create a Daytona EV simply for a frivolous reason. Ultimately, it's about offering customers more choices.
That about covers it. Couldn’t have said it better myself. 🎯
EV can not be a muscle car, the REAL rumble of the V8 can't be replicated. Being able to lift the hood of your V8 challenger/charger and modified the engine is part of the fun. Someone should have a EV only car day at the race track, I bet the number one complaint will be how quiet it is.
Hi Brad,
I agree completely with your thinking. Muscle cars/hot rods are more of an experience, way of life, comraderie in a way an EV can not compete in. It just cannot.
If you can, link your daughter's channel sometime to give her some followers.
The below comments were done early in the video.
EV = muscle car. Nope, not even a comparison. Completely different contraption. EV's are good in my opinion for short commutes, city, metro area driving. ICE cars are much better for the long trips. A 5 minute fuel stop is much better than a 45 minute to 1/12 hr or more stop to recharge.
I just got a 21 F8 Green Challenger R/T manual. I could have gotten an automatic and been faster but I wanted to be more connected to the driving experience of the car, have fun, racing was not a factor in my decision. Your Swinger Edition is a beautiful car that I couldn't afford but I am quite happy with my R/T and that's what it is about.
I agree with you 100%. There are always going to be people who think McDonalds makes the best burger though.
What's even scarier is the "six pack" 🥶Someone at Stellantis really thought "scatpack? Nah, SIX PACK is the future!!"
There are 3 criteria for muscle cars in my opinion: It has to look great, run good and sound great. EV’s obviously can’t meet the sound criteria as fake engine sounds don’t count.
Awesome!
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Enrique. How come he hasn’t gone to the car shows with you?
He’s got a crazy busy life with the 4 kids. We still hang out but he’s not been able to pull away to get out to the car events.
Brad I think Dodge is making a big mistake but I think you'll see they're going to start bringing some other internal combustion engine light and they'll be in you demons and new hellcats with different performance upgrades may not be as good as what we have today but at least it's something
I got a project for you to do a show on. Look into BYD from China. Chinese EV automaker that has a $11k EV that will destroy all US automakers. People in the US really haven't talked about. I looked into BYD and it's mind blowing 🤯. One BYD car gave a Lamborghini and a GTR a run for it's money on the track . This Chinese automaker is no joke. RUclips the info
Its not going to be 11k if it hits america bro they gonna raise that shit to 50 or 60k they did the same thing in Europe its 11k in China and 50k in Europe 😂
BIG TIME wiff, without a Govt. bailout, it's the bottom of the 7th and the fat lady is warming up. The next year will tell us much about CDJR. Ford got it right when they did a mid-game turn around and it appears that CDJR is going down with the ship. Thank OCM, inspiring video.
Stellantis will die because their build quality is ass. Going EV will not change that. Stellantis should go full kaizen and quality management and make a good Hemi along with hybrids for most of the market, then throw in a compliance EV for government compliance.
They should bring us back the V8.
They should bring the legend back!!
Hit the nail on the head there

I'm surprised no one here talking about the TT6 engine available.
A EV can never be a muscle car..NEVER!
I watched the whole video while drinking a beer sitting in my gas powered Lexus gs300 cheers 🥂 god bless America 🇺🇸
I 100% I own a 06 Dodge Magnum SRT8 and a over 1000HP Charger Redeye, and an Kia EV6 GT. I would never call or even consider my EV a muscle car nor would I ever. I raced Tesla Plaids as a pure point of reference at the Track because there was nothing at the track fast enough to challenge. After many of days, months wrenching in the garage, it surpassed a push button, no experience necessary EV. EV's are definitely a different segment. They have a purpose but will never be a muscle car.
Damn, that price comparison hurts to look at. Dodge is trying to sell us on “affordable” cars at $60,000+ when the old school cars are equivalent to $22,000. This is a joke
I know it’s ridiculous. It’s like no Saturday at home in your garage working on your cars engine modifying it for the best performance you can get and be proud that you did that by with knowledge and your hands! Or instead just downloading the horsepower from the fucking direct connect store! 😂 Geez that’s so fun I can’t wait to do that. I don’t even have to do it in my garage. I could do it at the mall or I could do at the race track while I’m waiting for my turn to pull up to the line!😂
It’s like having to do a solo session or having the girl. They both get the job done but one is waaaaaaay more fun 😂
😂
It's not just you, it's more about just going fast, it's the look, sound, and torque of pushrod V8. Stellantis is missing the point and they'll find that out soon enough.
I have 2 muscle cars a 16 challenger scat pack and a 1972 charger rally 440 six pack top banana yellow Ramcharger hood . The charger is a real muscle car
Dodge thinking they are creating “electric muscle cars” is the equivalent of somebody claiming they’re vegetarian because they add salad to their daily steak.
I agree EVs are not muscle cars but we have to wait and see what the six cylinders can do and before you say a six cylinder is not a muscle car don’t for get the Grand national was a turbo six and it was vary much considered one
I agree. Maybe they are a new version of the muscle car. An evolution maybe of the car. But they need their own name. They shouldn't have used the Scat pack or RT names on the EV. They need there own names. I don't think they should be called a muscle car. Muscle car is Gas Powered higher than average HP car.
Maybe Hyperelectric, HOEectric, ElectricHO, Hypercharged or something like that.
The new trash talking will be my car charges faster than yours. Has a better charge....etc. what a joke.
If it looks like a muscle car, sounds like a muscle car, tastes like a muscle car. Muscle car!
You nailed it dude. No, they will never be muscle cars.
By some of those definitions, the demon 170 is not a muscle car...it's heavy and expensive
The car industry isn’t our friend. Not just Dodge. The entire car industry isn’t for the every day man. It has been gate kept for a long time and now is beyond gate kept for just a few. It’s unreasonable to think anybody can afford a car in this time.
To me it’s more like weening us off gas engines and it can be appreciated or not I guess it’s how you look at it a lot of people don’t understand that they used up all their v8 credits with the epa or whatever they called waited to the last minute to switch and it’rcalled they waited to the last minutes they didn’t plan good for the future but now it’s time for change and people are going to have to accept it like it or not
