      Factory replacement engines may or may not hurt the value of the car, it all depends on the desirability of the car. There are tons of 70's muscle cars out there that don't have the original drivetrains but have either a factory replacement engine or a correct date coded engine, and still bring the big dollars. Now if was a rebuilt engine from JOE'S SHMOOS engines then Yes it would ruin the resale but a factory replacement under warranty shouldn't hurt the resale. Or a upgraded engine like some of these Demon Guys with 426 Strokers.

    I went through a class action lawsuit with Dodge over my then-new 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T. The issue there was the trucks were advertised as being allowed to tow like a regular Dakota with something like 5000 lbs but Dodge issued an "addendum" later, after thousands of 1998 and 1999 Dakota R/Ts were sold that the towing capacity was now limited to only 1000 lbs due to the 1" lowered rear suspension. That did not sit well for those who bought these trucks to tow a boat or whatever so 3 of them got together with a law firm and sued. Nobody got offered a nice chunk of money. It was either take $750 in Mopar accessories (woo hoo), an extended warranty (lame) or they would buy your truck back. That's what I did and I got every payment I made back to me, and my down payment and they paid for any accessories I added. It was amazing really. Once I got my check and gave my truck back, I promptly ordered a brand new 2000 Dakota R/T. I didn't care about the towing reduction.

    Powertrain is six years 60k. Bumper to bumper is 3 year 36k. If it is a track car you will never hit 60,000 miles so you have six years on the engine. Electrical problems aren't covered after 3 years which a faulty engine controller could cause premature engine failure. I think Racer X's engine was a mechanical failure. You need to get a video of you popping a wheelie in your Demon 170 you talked about it all the time when you first got it.

    It’s a tire speed rating issue. Not a car performance issue. Same issue for super stocks. They come stock with drag radials and at a 17-18” wheel they are speed rated at 168 for the most part…the factory has to live by the speed rating from the tire manufacturer. You could have the speed limiter removed with a tune if that is a real concern…

    • @alexanderkennedy2969
      @alexanderkennedy2969 17 дней назад +2

      yeah cause they save 10 dollars a tire by using a lower speed rated tire. the higher the speed rating generally the more expensive but not by much. they should give the customer the option to get a higher speed rated tire

    • @jgmullins1
      @jgmullins1 17 дней назад +1

      No, the tires are only a part of it on the Demon. The SS and OG Demon can swap tires, remove the limiter and run 200. The 170 has a safety issue. The driveshaft needed to to hold the HP at launch is a hardened steel that is heavier than a Redeye or SS. Harmonics at higher speeds than the limiter is set to can create a catastrophic failure due to excessive vibrations in the driveline. Engneers (since terminated) have repeatedly documented this. If you want to get a custom driveshaft and do some suspension mods then yes, it would run welll past 200 MPH. They cut some corners on this car.

    What is known to me is that in Canada at least, the dealers are hiding these 170’s in their dealer principles private facilities, if the price is not right for what they want these cars to sell for, then they lie to the potential customer saying that the car is sold when it is a false statement. It’s a game they play to try and manipulate the market and then reintroduce it out in 3 months again for sale.

    I am currently in the market now for a regular 2023 scat pack. I WILL not pay mark up prices for these vehicles. I did some research on the value of the 2021 and 2022 scat pack. MSRP was roughly $42-$43k brand new. With the 2023 scat packs being a year old already, what would you pay for a brand new 2023 scat pack? I know the dealers say, "oh but this is the last year they're making them". That may be true but it's not worth $10k market up. It's hard to gauge what the right price to pay is as some dealers are trying to give these cars away but then some dealers are not budging on these cars. I'm noticing from different dealers there's a price tag range of $20-30k difference. ANYWAYS, love your videos. Thank you

    People buying the 170 and financing it (many people are) to save it in the garage is nuts! The people that want one already have one and they paid cash. Do we know if old cars or classic cars are going to be a thing in 20+ years? There’s too much risk involved to “save a car” and these people bought in the peak! I would bet $10k that these 170’s will be going for around $100k or less in the future. I’ve seen this so many times!! The GT3 the Z06 back in the day with the Grand National GXP the ZR1.. The Prowler and the SSR (both had 50% mark ups). Oh BTW we’re in a recession already they always go back and say “actually the recession started back before we got elected or appointed” and the ones in power now are like “Economy is booming keep buying stuff use your credit cards!” Nobody is to blame protect yourself.

    The Tires and the Computer is the Major Hold up of going Faster MPH, If Going Fast was the intent after doing "Your Due Diligence " That's on the Customer, the speed issue was discussed Long before those Cars were Delivered and there is more than one definition of "Fastest" when it comes to Drag Racing, and most likely the 170 is the "Fastest - Time Wise" production ICE Car . Also Limited Edition of THREE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED, Come on Consumers back when GM Built 100 LT4 Equipped Camaros They Sat, and ended up Selling but many were then Driven and Now 20 Plus Years later the Ones Stored in a Bubble are just Starting to Gain Value!

    I’ll say this if I was a buyer and Dodge as a company said that the vehicle does 215 MPH, and my car does 149 MPH than that’s false advertising. Dodge did a money grab for this model, dealerships did huge ridiculous markup as if their 💩 doesn’t stink and if I was an owner I would lawyer up and get some monetary judgement through the judicial system because automotive manufactures shouldn’t be deceiving their customers for a sales strategy purpose. Dodge needs to do the right thing and payout those 3K owners or the owners can litigate through these automotive attorneys have a class action lawsuit and I would imagine as you said since it’s about 3K owners they will have good payouts assuming they reach let’s say $1 billion (obviously arbitrary number) that’s $333k for each owner. Remember the VW, Audi, and Porsche Diesel “Defeat Device” that settlement was at $14.7 Billion, so having a lawsuit with that kind of number isn’t surprising as Dodge has been around for over 100 years. Dodge needs to do better; performance development, quality control, better warranty coverage especially since you advertise these cars for performance and track oriented so these vehicles have certain tolerance thresholds that would make the components fail over time and typically the manufacturer creates unrealistic warranty expectations. If Dodge wants to regain back credibility in the automotive industry they get to start all over again and do track testing and test their components to make sure it last longer, otherwise I would go to another automotive manufacturer like Cadillac, Chevrolet, BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes if you’re already spending so much money on an American car you might as well go with a solid brand reputation that won’t lie to its loyal customers and will take care of them by good-willing warranty work.

    Take it as you want. I have drag raced for years. I run methanol I would make 2 passes 1/4 mile I changed my oil . When you run methanol you get Moisture in the oil. My motor was a 2000 hp blown Injection. I would run 5 gallons of methanol every pass. You go ask anyone that drag races an runs methanol what you're oil looks like when you drain it it is milky white. It will eat your bearings up. Racer x did not change his oil the one time he showed him running it he made like 6 passes. I know there not running alot of methanol mix with the gas. Dodge didn't tell these guys that bought these cars if you run methanol alot in the motor you need to change your oil more often. You can believe me are not I dont care I have built motors many years I know what methanol does to the bearings.

      That's some good insight. I don't want an E-85 car due to all the moisture related issues with the fuel. In a passesnger car it kills the MPG as well. It is great for making power as you well know. If I had wanted an E-85 1000 HP car I would just convert something like a base HC or Camaro. No need to pay 150 K for the privelage of the extra maintenance or issues that you will have to get all that extra power. This 170 thing is pig in a poke and we are just getting the tip of the iceberg IMO.

    I don't think Dodge claimed it can do 215 mph. However, from the marketing they claim its the fastest quickest muscle car. As a potential customer seeing that car have 1000+ horsepower and doing 151 mph quarter miles, I would assume if had a 1+ mile of road, I would think it can easily go over 151 mph judging from the ads. The ads do not say it has a top speed, they said it can do a quarter mile at 151 mph. If my knowledge is right the top speed is limited not because of the tires, but because of the driveshaft.

    You do realize that all vehicles need repairs. Engines usually can be rebuilt. Considering that these engines are new, a machine shop would more than likely be able machine to tolerance & easily fix a engine that has its original bore.

    A car has to imprint on history to create value, The gullwing Mercedes Bugatti Ferrari, Lamborghini all have that value over time and history. yes the demons (both the OG and the 170) are the most powerful of their times, but will they stand the test of time and impact history? IDK, the early 70's hemis are valuable so maybe in 30-40 years.
    Me personally, I find more value in building my own car. I'd love to find a front and rear wrecked LX cars and taking the parts and making a foodstamp model (base or SXT model) into a sleeper

    I'm mentioning the following because I haven't heard anyone mention this regarding the 1/4 mile times and the top speed. This is a quote from Motor Trend on an article dated March 21, 2023: "Dodge is claiming remarkable, mind-bending numbers for the Demon 170 (on a prepared surface): 1.66 seconds to 60 mph and an 8.91-second quarter at 151.2 mph." 151.2 mph on the 1/4 mile. I'm no mathematician, but if my maths is correct, 151.2 is more than 149. If that is the case, then even in perfect conditions, the Demon 170 could never hit the claimed 1/4 mile times by Dodge. The car would hit Top Speed before the end of the quarter mile.

    5 yrs... 1/2 mil..... BAHH HAHHHHH HAHHHHHH. It's a Dodge... with more initial money going to dealer mark-ups than factory quality or performance. It's a Dodge... it won't be drivable in 5 years. Any idiot who is willing to blow that kind of money on dealer mark-ups is likely the same guy who'll get it sideways and wrapped around a tree within 5 minutes of leaving the stealership. Anything on the Dodge performance side is AT BEST worth $65,000. The car's haven't seen anything innovative in a decade. Tuning and bolt-ons is not innovative. If that were the case, anyone could buy a mid-level Challenger, take it to a real mechanic, and with enough cash do the swaps and structural add-ons to make their own. Who cares about serial numbers and factory stickers.

    Dodge/Stelantis isn’t known for quality , with the power the engine is making,you have to expect engine life to be very short if the owner is going to be using it. If you want a 1000 hp reliable car your probably a lot better off with a Tesla Plaid. Just the truth.

    RacerX is a great guy but he did not follow the required 1,500 mile break-in period in the Demon supplement, page 7. RacerX started dragging his baby at around 500 miles. He is lucky Dodge covered it under warranty. In any case, its not at all fair to call this car’s reliability into question where, as here, the proper break-in period was not followed. Watch RacerX’s prior clips and you can see for yourself.
