Lots of cars have decorative pedal covers. You just aren’t aware of them because they don’t fall off. The tell that Tesla has doofus engineering is that it was deisgned to taper so it could wrap around the pedal and slide on and no one though to mold in a plastic or metal snap catch so the thing could not slide right back off. They used glue. On something subjected to shear stresses from your rubber soled shoes.

All those sharp edges would be a big red flag for me. It isn't that difficult to get rid of that sharp edge, I honestly don't know why they didn't sand down those edges to protect their customers other than lack of quality standards. And stainless steel isn't actually stainless, it's just more resistant to rusting. So you should probably not drive it in the rain, put it through a car wash, or leave it anywhere near a large water source (especially if that source is saltwater).

Most people don’t understand stainless steel, stainless steel doesn’t rust unless it has surface contamination such as ferrous metal dust from another source lands on it, this will start to permanently mark the stainless steel.
But separately, stainless steel will tarnish, this is just the stainless steel dulling over time due to other surface contamination but is not actually damaging the metal, stainless steel hand railings and boat fitting will tarnish, this can easily be polished out.
Bottom line, everyone who has one of these truck should accept that you will be doing a lot of polishing every day with wax to stop it tarnishing, just because it’s stainless steel doesn’t mean you can be lazy about looking after its appearance.
