- In this video I share my thoughts on the recent layoff of almost 200 workers at the Ram 1500 assembly plant in Sterling Heights and how this affects us when we're buying Ram, Dodge, Jeep, and Chrysler products this year.

My dad was one of the 400 let go in the mass layoffs at the headquarters. 25 years of service and terminated just like that over the phone on a teams meeting. The company is in a spiral. They won't last at this rate.
I am very sorry for your father's loss. Hopefully he will land on his feet and be okay. 💔😪
Yup corporate based jobs are a scam. I'm sorry your dad wasn't recognized as he should of been putting in that much time for nothing. Fuck dodge
I retired 15 years ago from Chrysler and it’s surprisingly that Chrysler’s is still around.
It’s really not. Stellantis just keeps the name around. They trying to put all these foreign motors and transmission into all their vehicles. Wonder why hard core Mopar people don’t want to buy their vehicles.
We're heading towards a future where there's not going to be very many vehicles made in America anymore. This is the beginning of that..
Trump will change all of that wait and see
@@MikeSanchez-xl2sh I hope so.
the begininng of it was 30 years ago
They need to start listening to consumers and stop producing oversized luxury trucks…and return to trucks designed for ACTUAL utility. Build solid, reliable trucks minus the fuss and aim for a reasonable price point. If they were willing to make smaller margins on much larger volume, they’d arguably be better off than having MASSES OF $80K,$90K, $100k+ trucks sitting on the lots gathering dust.
I haven’t been excited for USA cars in a long time. Basic cars from Honda and Toyota that last forever is the way to go if you have limited funds. As far as I’ve seen, Stelantis and most Fords are costly to maintain. Don’t know anything about GM
They jacked up the MSRPs 40% or more in the past 3 years. 64k for a Wrangler?!
Sorry to say it but the UAW didn't help matters
Uaw went on strike after they raised prices blame the employee for poor management. Welcome to stelantis here is your management vest and seat cushion!
And then give you 10% off MSRP and tell you it's a deal.
Liedenomics is to blame, not the UAW. They got huge profit sharing checks. After the raise, they still made hundreds of millions. Labor is only 5% of their cost. Liedenomics is the cost of MSRP. Everything went up 50%. When inflation adjusted, cars are the same price as 5 years ago.
Epa and climate bs is the reason for most of it.
Being forced to buy emissions credits from ev car companies like tesla.
Keep voting blue and hand everything you own or dream of to the wef...
Stellantis is going to learn the hard way that building WAY overpriced garbage isn't a winning business model.
It’s a double whammy they up the MSRP and then the dealerships were being greedy. That was a perfect storm. Stillantas did it to themselves and the dealerships.
Tripple when you consider that they are trying to drop the Hemi in the trucks altogether and replace them with hybrids, EVs, and the Hurricane. While an I6 and generator/range extender based hybrid is, the engine is only a 3L and there's too much tech behind that hybrid that could break. The Hemi is what sold the trucks for so many years.
@@DJ2226 i’m gonna put this in the main comment section, but they could’ve used a hybrid technology to the hellcats if they wanted to
Don't forget HIGH INTEREST rates, HIGH INSURANCE rates AND HIGH DEPRECIATION rates as well. It really is a perfect storm for the car market.
@jacoby1234ification they could not those engines needed to be improved emissions wise and they needed modern updates. They refused to develop anything.
The price increase is due to Liedenomics. Everything has gone up 50% on average. When adjusted for inflation, the prices are the same as 5 years ago.
Dodge ought to seriously mark down all these vehicles sitting around collecting dust in overflow lots, sell them at below dealer cost, i.e., sell Hornets at a price of around 17 or 18 grand for one of those POS's, for example.
Stellantis, the eurotrash company, sure fucked over Dodge.
Thanks for a good, comprehensive video!
I just went to a Dodge store and wanted to test drive an Challenge R/T Scat pack. They went and got the key but the battery was dead. Sitting on the lot for 6 months.
About 4 years ago, I was inside a Dodge showroom looking at a TA 392 Challenger. I couldn't adjust the seat to see if I could get more head space because the battery was dead. In fairness to the dealership, they did go and find a battery charger. But it was too little, too late.
What did they do after that?
Same thing at my local Ford store. Test drove a brand new F150 and the brakes squealed like crazy because of rusted rotors.
When the all knowing Stellantis shut down model after model and had nothing to replace them, what did they expect? Just sell Chrysler and walk away, you dont' want it anyhow.
Discontinuing the most popular popular motors for their foreign made junk. They don’t have a clue. At least they stopped this whole idea of replacing Cummings with these Italian Deisel motors. Those things were junk.
Drove by a jeep dealer in heber city Utah today. They had a deal where you buy one jeep Gladiator and get the second one half off. Even if it's a gimmick, its pathetic.
It sucks for the workers that got laid off, but it is well deserved for Stellantis charging 80% over MSRP on their vehicles for the past 3 years.
Seriously, $65k for a Jeep is insane.
I've seen 76K for a Grand Cherokee, SMH
Sad to see this happening
Wouldn’t surprise me if tomorrow they announced Jeep doesn’t need the Wrangler anymore. Why not? Would make as much sense…
Stellantis is doing everything that it can to destroy what used to be Chrysler. No one will want to buy a Ram truck with the Hurricane engine. I had a wagoneer with the Hurricane and I had nothing but problems with it. My wagoneer had engine issues from the first day. The oil sensor went out and Stellantis refused to replace the sensor. Instead, they said they would reprogram the computer and when they did that, they basically shut off every sensor in the wagoneer. And to top it all off, I found out that there is NO OIL DIP STICK to check the oil. So, when the computer says your low in oil, how can you check it to determine how much oil to add?
Glad I got the hemi.
How you got no oil dip stick that’s crazy
@@lafosh7234 the lead engineer did an interview recently and was quite proud that they don't have a dipstick on the Hurricane. You only know if it's low on oil when the computer tells you so.
@@wvjeepguy8178 ?…that’s crazy..I don’t trust that computer it’s never ACCURATE to actual oil life..I just got my first ram 1500 couple weeks ago and I’m putting fresh oil in that hemi soon as it hits 50 percent
OMG you can’t make this stuff up what a joke.
They can’t sell the vehicles that ppl actually like, what the fuck you think is gonna happen when the lots are full of junk ev’s and full size v6 pickups both of which ppl have clearly stated they don’t want
Facts 👌👌
Keeping all the electric batteries charged on the lot will be a massive undertaking for local dealerships. The electrification at this scale was with good intention but it’s an idiot savant’s fever dream-where someone at the top of the company never worked a dealership job and does not realize how hard selling this junk actually can be.
Not to mention the government strong arming them into ev's
Pictures dealership owned generators moving around the lots to keep the EV's charged. ICE powered generators for an EV 'future'.
Good intention? You really believe that? The only intentions were vote buying and money laundering.
Lot rot will become battery rot.
One thing to realize is that the severance packages are generally not for the blue collar, union, factory workers. These severances are only offered to management and clerical workers. The reason why many of the factory workers won't quit is because many are vested employees, hired before 2007 who would still qualify to recieve a pension if they can stick it out until they qualify for retirement. I am personally in that boat. I will have 29 years next month and I am hoping to get to 30 years where I would then qualify for a full pension. God willing I should make it, but for the managers or the white collar, non-union, salary people then yes, your advice is spot on.
I worked for a newspaper (production) my entire adult life, and luckily, retired 2 years ago. From 2008 until I finally retired, that fear of being laid off due to paper outsourcing printing/inserting always was a looming presence for all of us. For me, it was the severance package plus my age that kept me hostage. Ironically, a year after I retired, the company chose to shut production plant and outsource printing and inserting. I feel for all those guys in their 50's who are trapped feeling as though a sword is hanging over their heads at one of the big three now.
Buying a first gen stellantis ev is riskier than playing russian roulette with 6 bullets. Tesla will already be 3rd gen, ford 2nd gen, etc.
Local dealers are trying to empty their lots by end of April. They're 9k,10k,11k, and even $12k below MSRP on select vehicles. Charger SXTs are going right at $30k. RTs are going for $9k below MSRP! You can get a great deal if you're willing to buy into a dying brand! I'm worried about future support. I believe that is another reason they aren't moving. Stellantis upper management really screwed this up! Reminds me of our troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. Knee jerk decisions that are not well thought out!!
MSRP aint MSRP. They add markup in the msrp. These cars need to go down $15-25k to make it make sense.😂
I can get Charger Scat Pack for $40k
@grege1972 what APR? Even with 8% payment will be around $650-700...
@@alexleal7643 Not sure of the APR but considering ScatPacks were selling towards the low to mid 50’s, not a bad deal
@grege1972 also what is the mileage? Anyhow you will still be in the red $8-10k due to the high interest rates. I would wait till they drop even more to around mid $30k for a RT maybe low $30k.
Thanks 🙏🏾 great info
Good insight again Brad. Really enjoy your viewpoints and information. Looking dapper today as well.
I work at shap. After they laid off the 199, they brought in temporary summer help this week.
I work across the street we make your center console.
Cost of vehicles at annual salary is crazy.....large percentage of people just plain can't afford it....
Sad. Tim Kuniskis F-ed Up Dodge Ram and The Last Call. Dodge Workers got screwed.
It was not TIM….that man is being held in a prison cell at the bottom of HQ with stellantis euro bots calling all the shots
I had a new 2020 Ram Laramie the screens would go out and went into limp mode three seperat times. After 6 months of them playing with it I sold it back. I'm happy to report my 2001 F350 has had zero issues in the 4 years since. I'm not upset they can't build quality but it's not like we could not see this coming when 20 plus year old trucks are still more reliable.
I bought a used 2006 power wagon with only 65k miles on it in 2018. I asked the owner why he was selling it and he said he wanted the new ram 2500 with all the infotainment crap on the dash. I said good luck with it. My 06 doesn't have any of that, plain and simple dash.
@@DavidSmith-tu1nd Exactly I purchased my F350 with only 16k original miles paid a lot but still less than half a new truck and it's been amazing 💯 the old school trucks will tell you something is wrong but have no control to shut down the motor and make it run in 1st gear at 6k Rpm's all the way to the dealer at 25mph. How is redlining first gear saving my truck when it was a blown fuse for my heated seats? I have an aftermarket apple car play head unit and it has no control to shut my motor down when anything simple breaks. Absolutely garbage because the first thing I found out was you are unable to plug into OBDII without a dealer licence so you cannot even fix it if you're on vacation 809 miles from home. It's all junk. I then got a 2021 GMC did the exact same thing they replaced three fuse boxes and that was it I was completely done with the new junk trucks! You sink money into an old work horse it will reward you with a way better experience and complete abilities to fix it and keep it going too.
I bought a 2023 challenger. I'm glad I did. But with everything going on in this world , I'm ready to go back to the horse and buggy days. We really need to simplify everything already!
When did you buy it and which model? I’ve been thinking about getting an RT manual. There’s a bunch of brand new 2023’s for sale still.
Great choice! All their engines very reliable!
We won't own cars in the future. Robo Taxi.
In a few years I'm sure your challenger will offer you that option.

I bought the limited edition swinger edition in sublime green. 6.4 with a 6 speed manual.
What part of Stellantis is Liquidating Chrysler Corporation are you not getting yet I said this from the begining when Stellantis got involved with Chrysler Corporation through FCA.
I think one of the biggest problems are the prices are just way to dam high. I would fear buying a Ram because of reliability and with all the layoffs and people wondering when they are next, I don't see very happy employees which can lead to poor employee performance which will lead to even WORSE reliability than they already are. The 2025 Ram is coining out with a twin turbo inline 6 which has not been proven yet.
Thank you for bringing up whats really going on. All of these Manufacturers want Teslas success without the work. Tesla (whatever you think about him). Built his cars with his infrastructure. And that took 10 years.... Now we have a ton of new EVs, with no infrastructure at the Dealerships to keep them charged. And the issue of weight. Its all Corporate Greed...
Thanks for the honest and open information sharing. Crazy times. Long live the ICE!
Here's a thought. How about building a 35,000 dollar 8 cylinder truck?
You don't need a truck.

Shame on Stellantis for them and their dealers price gouging. The Dodge Bros and Walter Chrysler would be shocked and angry.
Thankful I ordered and received my my last call T/A. My next up coming purchase will be a 6 cylinder ram, but it’s gonna have a Cummins badge on the fender. After this I’m done with FCA…
There’s another possibility that I don’t think anyone’s considered. Maybe Cantis just doesn’t want to have as many dealerships as there are. If you come here to New York, there is at least six Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram dealerships that I can think of all within a 30 mile radius of each other.
Any dealership that refuses to move to EV’s can quickly be forgotten and eliminated. Some of them even want to be bought out.
Companies exist to make a profit, I don't know why anyone wouldn't have thought these corporations wouldn't win in the end. I see all production going to Mexico and these manufacturers laughing all the way to the bank.
I see Dodge Bankrupt and gone. Ford will pick up the slack.
People have to buy the product. People don't buy corporations loose.
Not really because a lot of people in Mexico can't afford to buy those cars and once they do its off to the next low cost country it's a race to the bottom eventually we will end up doing what we've done for years and send all our wealth to China 😮
I find it interesting you mention dealers have a hard time keeping them charged. I was thinking about that the other day when I was considering popping in a jeep dealer to see a wrangler 4xe
Where is your Demon 170? Did you flip it to get the Lambo?
lol a lambo what a waste of money
Stellantis employee. Here. Why would you go elsewhere ? Do you think the other companies are in better shape ? That’s a joke. Furthermore, if we get laid off we have a nice lay off package waiting. Makes absolutely no sense to go to another company that is also facing economic challenges. When this thing goes bust our whole area will suffer
the UAW wants more money
Stellantis wants more money
the dealerships want more money
hell even the insurance companies want more money
and when they all jack their prices up to the roof while firing the people that work for them how do they expect people to pay for their overinflated garbage?
Don't blame unions when the companies are still reporting record high profits
@@TheRealCatof they fucked themselves over with that because on paper they're making record high profits but there are no more covid spenders to prop them up so now that demands fallen and the normal people who can buy and KEEP their cars are priced out stellantis profits aint shit anymore
You left out the banksters. They want more money too.
I wonder how many CDJR dealers will stop carrying those lines and transition solely to selling used cars.
During covid I looked to buy a car and I went to a dealership and figured I was going to pay msrp.well due to the chip shortage they can charge what they want. So I decided to hold off. Now that the chip shortage is over I figured they would lower the price...But they havent. I was at my local Dodge dealer only that they not only have gone back to the old prices but are still trying to charge an extra $1500 for a clay bar that they use on the outside of car for the paint. Ive used claybars before and for 1500 bucks is just their way to get more money back. If Stellaantis or any manufacture wants to sell cars then stop overcharging us. Just look at how much people make. Wouldnt be smart to just lower the prices.
I have found this to be the case with Ford and chevy too. And of Course Toyota is partying like it's 2021.
Great video bro, nice detail information. Yeah sad world with the car market, but if dealerships want to buy our used cars or v8 then everyone should do the same thing dealerships do to us, “ADD A MARK-UP” to your use car. Dealerships want to buy your used car to sell you a EV or eMuscle you don’t want lol, so if you sell your used car “ADD A MARK-UP” 🤣😂 Great video bro 😎 God Bless
Hilarious. I'm totally gonna try that
Inaccurate information. They didn't over produce in anticipation of the strike. Production of 24s started only a month before the strike, and thousands of vehicles built that month, were special orders. I ordered mine 90 days before production started, and it was built days before the strike.
Local Ram dealer 3 months ago dropped 20% below MSRP. Selling a few but their lot is the fullest I’ve ever seen it in the 15 yrs I’ve been here.
I was told from my dealer that they pulling away from the 4x4 e not doing good
Also, they could use hybrid technology to apply to the hellcats if they wanted to
Remember this started, with the UAW on strike and they said they would get their place at the table because the company was ripping them off and the prices went threw the roof.aftermath they need get rid of the of the electric. Go with the 3.6 and the hybrid ram electric.
If by some miracle they get these land yatchs to go around corners I can only imagine how much people are going to be spending on tires 😮
I seen a flyer at work for compass's @$250 per month. Went to the dealership and they started at over $400 per month..
The severance pay will only work for people who are let's say one year or Iess from retirement.
I haven't seen many lately butt not that long ago I would see a couple of trucks transporting full loads of Teslas. Not sure if I'm buying Dodge's story.
I work at one of the assembly plants in Michigan just wait until the end of the month it’s going to get a lot worse
I'm sorry my friend. Hope you come out of it ok.
And that's why their cars are breaking down because they were assembled during that strike bargaining time and people had attitudes towards Stellantis, then the people want to know why their cars got problems, breaking down, etc.
I work at JNAP and a lot of my friends who just got hired in at SHAP were laid off 😔
It's interesting you mentioned the extra weight per vehicle on the car haulers. I mean if they load them full of EVs instead of the regular ICE cars, are they going to be overweight at the DOT truck scales ? Are they going to be pushing the weight limits on bridges ? What about the excessive wear and tear on the asphalt ? Are they going to have to refit the trailers to be able to handle the extra weight?
Thanks Joe Burden
Is he on the executive Board of Stellantis?
Stellantis is the worst car company in the world. Huge QA problems. The issues with the Chinese built Uconnect are well know to their dealerships, yet they are ignoring it. The Price gouging is another issue. 10k more than Ford or GM. Really ?
Can these dealers decline to sell EV's & decline delivery for them?
They can, they won’t have anything to sell. So they can basically fold up shop.
Then there'll be no vehicles to sell, dealers will disappear and you'll have the resurgence of American Motors, a government -run entity that will push its agenda of EVs without a national infrastructure into the public's hands...
We just have to come to the realization that these are no longer American products...
Does this mean Bideonomics is NOT working for the working class, lol???
Wait, so you think it is somehow Biden's fault that they were charging 80% over MSRP?
Most of those workers are stuck. Where are they going to go that pays what they make in pay and benefits? Nowhere!
Everybody’s crazy for a sharp dressed man!🚗🤩
Prices went through the roof and quality fell through the floor. Ain't nobody trying to buy what they are selling.
I think the root cause is with the management making bad decisions marking up prices. Take Jeep Wrangler for example, Ford Broncos are taking their market shares yet Jeep keeps raising prices. This is pure marketing disaster!
I knew Stellantis would destroy the brand.
The writings were on the wall sayin the end of Chrysler was coming a few years ago. Even back in the 80's again Chrysler found their backs against the wall for inferior quality control on all their vehicles. Ended up reorganizing itself to payoff debts.
Started with Daimler and Dr Z's cronies
They would sell large if they didn't mark up their products by 30%.
A Jeep rubicon X is 95k ???
More than any Toyota ??
The past at Dodge was cheaper price with high turnover but now it's huge mark up and minimal sales.
It's just a stupid idea from management.
A 75k Jeep costs less than 25k to build so the final price is pure greed and pure failure.
Can an average parking garage hold full capacity of evs?
Great question! I guess we will find out when one crashes down. 😳
Think of thermal runaway in a garage full of EVs. Disaster.
Blame UAW inflating salaries and the auto makers skyrocketing prices.
Given the price gouging of the past few year, I am thrilled to see the karma come around. And I was equally thrilled to buy a 23 Gladiator for 25% off sticker.
Better to re-enter the job market by yourself with a well-thought out plan than to wait to be pushed into the job market with everybody else at the same time to beg like Oliver Twist for work.

Yup gas engines are still and always will be the best for the next 50 yrs real actual EV that's not connected to a grid fossil fuel system is not ready for mass overhaul yet.
Ok so due to CAFE standards (which no politician has done anything to curtail) we have two choices. 4 or 6 ccyl turbo or EV. Take your pick.

What a bad correlation saying the oversupply is caused by the 'build up ' in production prior to the strike when you answer it by plainly saying the vehicles are not selling. It doesnt matter how much they produce, if none of them sell then they are oversupplied. Next how can you claim Fords billion dollar loss with the failed Mach-E was the right move when all manufacturers going electric are losing big like Tesla owners. You are implying that if there were more V8's in trucks people would buy more trucks, Ram would sell more and still be in business ---- if only they had carbon credits for them? Also failed at the end with the weight of the electric loads considering I saw two Tesla double decker car haulers with the Tesla Cyber truck that is 7000lbs hanging way past the end of the truck.
Canada's new tax laws and gasoline average of $7 a u.s gallon isn't going to help at all. Cars need to average 40 MPG because food has skyrocketed and people are going to loose everything.
