they are all at best not 30k the dealers only sell the higher trim lvls and or the lower trim but stack it full of the features that ads 5k more to the price
Dealers are the problem with there 14 thousand dollar mask ups and the fools that are paying it. I got a basic maverick for 20 grand. My local dealer does not mark up and I ordered this Basic truck
How did they fail to deliver? I know several people who got in on the $20k hybrid Maverick when it came out. Of course with the options they chose it went a bit over, but they very well could have gotten it. I got my higher trim XLT with several options for $26k... 🤷♂
Everyone wants a Very Simple TRUCK!! 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive! An actual bed that can fit 4X8 plywood and or drywall. I want Knobs ( screw the Tv Screen). I Want to Be able to reach into the bed without having a Damn stepladder. We Want BASIC!!!
My 1990 GMC Sierra is exactly that truck. Single cab, 8' bed and hand crank windows. Currently has 116,000 miles. 350 engine. No rust, 2 tone paint job. I call her "Ruby Red Bird".
I see he’s caught in the “bells and whistles” department. Now in my 60s, I have learned (oftentimes the hard way) that every button, touchscreen, and gimmick included in newer vehicles is an invitation to failure. And having to go through submenus to change the cab temperature? Totally unsafe! They are overbuilding vehicles with a ton of what I call “computerized crap!” And now builders are starting to charge SUBSCRIPTIONS to use their software! What kind of self-respecting consumer will even tolerate such abuse??? My newest vehicle is a 2005. Reliability becomes more of an issue every year, but repairs aren’t thousands of dollars each time! “Bring back simplicity,” I say!
In addition, all these modern computerised vehicles have the capability to monitor, collect, share, sell and record your daily drives and conversations of you and your family. Paying big money to tracked, is that what you desire?
yep thats what my 2016 Nissan Frontier was... V6, 2wd, stick shift, crank windows but it DID have AC and radio! $21,000 brand new. my 2022 Pro4X it killed me to pay DOUBLE $42,000 for it but holy crap the build quality was leaps ahead and it was an insanely solid truck I kinda miss it now that I have my Bronco and its definitely a Ford alright...
I call that taxi spec , or fleet special , and that's how I prefer to buy them too, some years ago I bought a taxi spec Toyota sedan , conventional long lasting 6 speed auto , naturally aspirated 3500 V6 , just basic features you need and no gimmicks you don't , also that particular car model and driveline had a 13 year model run , all the bugs worked out , super reliable , and runs on the board which I deem as a big plus , its around 7 years old now and never had a spanner put on other than standard servicing, I love the vehicle. I would have liked a dual cab or pick up of some description but in my country they are quite pricey unless you buy cheap Chinese models ( not my cup of tea)..@@AsianPersuation24x7
They just need to go back to the mini trucks they built in the 80s. A simple 4 cylinder 150hp. Simple interior . They want do it because. A truck like the Isuzu, Mazda or S10. Would kill all other sales. A simple mini truck simple engine with a 5 or 6 speed standard. A/C and manual window options. That we can add the after market parts to upgrades we want. Just give us a simple truck that's affordable.... It's what we want
I had an Isuzu diesel P'up in thr 80's and it was $6k new. It wasnt heavy duty, but it did the job for a basic truck and even had AC. My other truck was pretty cool as well and was a Nissan Hardbody truck that I also paid around $6K for. It was so basic that there wasn't anything to go wrong. I did end up adding AC for $800 and drove it until '91 with great gas mileage and no issues. These are the types of trucks we need today for no more than $20k. No bells or whistles, just basic and reliable.
It might not sell very well though. A lot of people that would buy one still have an old Hard body, or a Ranger or something. A lot of them have been retired to backup vehicles, almost exclusively used for Lowe's trips, dump runs etc. Whenever I go to the dump etc, there are s-10 pickups everywhere with historic tags. Chances are, that B3000 on the side of the driveway will be around for a long time.
If the companies where smart, they should sell basic mini trucks with a modular design so pll can buy upgrades later on and it would be easy to modify with premium options
Me too. The so-called crew cab is the most ridiculous design of motor vehicle ever. The rear seats can accommodate only legless midgets, and the tray is so short it is useless for any practical purpose. Can't understand why so many people buy them.
Spent 2 yrs and tons restoring my bought new 02 SIlverado LS best decision ever!! Some pos loser made off with it a few yrs back at 330 in the morning gone forever Didnt want it back when I found it in the impound lot. How some type destroy a perfect vehicle in a few weeks wow. Tijuana special.
I am in the process of doing the same. I bought a 95 f350 7.3 fully loaded turbo diesel from a family member for $3,500. had my mechanic go from bumper to bumper. I'm gonna spend a bunch on a quality paint job and completely redo the interior. I'll own it for under 20k when I finish. 100k plus to replace new.
I believe Toyota made a mistake removing the V8 engine from their full-size truck. Now, they made another mistake removing their V6 engine from the midsize truck. The future sales of these trucks will show what a mistake that was.
Toyota did the worst thing by following in Ford’s footsteps. I say sooner or later they will trash their eco boost engines. You can not cover up the engine with plastic and not expect the engine to run properly
That is really what is needed. A Simple small 4 cylinder pickup with a manual transmission, Roll up windows rubber floor mats , cloth seats and cruise control. For $20,000 brand new.
There is nothing cheap about paying $45,000 on a pickup truck. Even the Maverick at $31,000 is too expensive. Trucks used to be basic and utilitarian. They were designed for work, not family haulers. The truck market is in luxury car territory. Trucks have lost their identity, and people purchase them as status symbols. It is just sad.
I have a family member with a 1979 Toyota pickup, 2-seater, 4 cylinder, long bed, 3/4 ton. It is unbelievably useful. I don't care about looks, I need something that is built for work. I want small trucks like this again.
My dad has a 95 T-100 and a 97 4x4 Tacoma. When the t-100 hit 400k miles we yanked the motor and put in a used one with 70k miles on it. We're about to tear down the old one and rebuild it for if/when either truck needs a new motor.
I picked up a certified 22 Frontier 4x4 about 6 months ago for the mid 20’s. Love it! I had to fly 1300 miles to Idaho to get that deal but it was worth it.
One of the best deals on a 23 or 24? Frontier sv long bed. Can't remember, was out in Idaho, was prepared to make that trip, til I found a gray one near me as opposed to the red. Would've been a flight from Florida 😁
I loved my 79 and 88 Toyota Hi-Lux trucks. They were simple and bulletproof. My 88 brand new was $9385. I'm fine with roll up windows and mechanical seats. They've just made everything too complicated and expensive.
@@coldwarkid6611 My comment has nothing to do with the Chicken Tax. That is for new vehicles. I'm talking about importing vehicles from outside the US. You can do 20 year old vehicles. So ... anyone can go to Mexico and try to bring back a Hilux and then do what is needed to title it. BUT: I do agree. They do need to get rid of the chicken tax ultimately. It is just easier to enact or repeal BS regulations vs. get incompetent congress to actually do something good for the people.
Back in 1988 I bought a new Ford F-350 4x4 Diesel cab and chassis for my business. I paid 17,600 dollars for it. My payment was 376.52 a month. Total cost with financing was 23,600 dollars. I thought that was a crazy bad decision back then. Lol.
Here in the Philippines, toyota sells a simple, small 4x4, 4-door pickup called the Toyota Hilux J. It has a 2.4L diesel engine, 6-speed manual transmission, rear diff lock, manually adjusted side mirrors, manual windows, very simple 2-din stereo, and an aircon. No bells and whistles, but it's exactly what we need for farm use. Best of all, it can be had brand new for just around $21,000.
I bought a 2023 Frontier 4x4, 4 door with the 6' box. I sold my 2013 Tacoma to buy it. My Tacoma had about 150,000 miles on it, and I regretted getting rid of it. Beware of the new Frontier. The bed to cab distance on mine was 1/2" off and I didn't notice it for about a month. When I put a tool box on it, I noticed it. Athens Nissan tried to fix it and couldn't adjust it enough. They sent it to Athens Paint and Body, and they couldn't fix it either. They wouldn't buy it back and wouldn't fix it. I sold it for a loss and moved on, but I was highly disappointed in Nissan's customer service. As far as I'm concerned, I'll never buy another one. Go with another company. I posted pictures of the truck on my Google review of Athens Nissan.
I don’t own a maverick. I sold that 2023 frontier and bought a 2003 model 8 lug gasser that gets about 10 mpg but is dependable and much cheaper than the frontier was new. I don’t plan to ever own another Nissan. And I’d opt for the ranger over the maverick. 😊
No , it's naive people still buying them for such a crazy price and dollar worth toilet paper. Stop buying and manufacturers will be forse to make a models people looking for.
Unions have killed the auto industry. Just look at Ford and GM. Those people are making crazy good money and benefits out the wazoo. They have to charge 60K or more to break even.
For the cost of a new truck, I can drag one out of the desert, put a modern drivetrain in it, have the differentials professionally rebuilt by Moser engineering, have the interior reupholstered, convert it to all LED lights, upgrade to 4 wheel disc brakes, have it professionally painted AND have money left over. It also costs less to register and insurance cost less.
The problem is they aren't going to let people do this much longer. Every year they work towards limited what a classic car is, how it can be titled etc.

@@boboso7238 Nobody said anything about needing it to qualify as a classic. AFAIK you can still title an old truck, with its factory emissions system intact, anywhere? Maybe CA will limit that first. Love my Ridgeline! Sure you can get other trucks cheaper like the maverick but they have a much smaller bed and May not be as reliable! I’m on my second Ridgeline. My first one I sold to my sister in law who now has 250,000 miles on it. This truck might not work for you if you need to tow more than 5,000 pounds but it’s perfect for me. We like what we like!
Starts about cheap trucks then shows and highlights the most expensive of the cheap trucks. How did we get to the point where 40-50K for a truck is considered "cheap"?
@@user-tb7rn1il3qnot always, turbos add cost because there a "wear" item And depending on the boost and heat cycle it could compromise the inline 4 natural balance If it were an inline 6 tho it would destroy anything
@@chrisynp Inline 4s are not naturally balanced. They require balancers and special engine mounts to isolate vibration from people. A turbo makes no difference. The inherent vibration of a 4 cylinder does not affect its longevity. Turbos do wear over time, but no faster than the rest of the engine components. There are a lot fewer parts to break on an inline four turbo than a V6. Inline 6s also have fewer parts than a V6 and are inherently very smooth. V6s also require balance shafts and are kind of a bastard engine design.
Because they're bloated with unnecessary computers, sensors, cameras, "safety", electronics etc etc. Basically driving a smart phone instead of a simple flip phone or the basics of a land line to get the job done. That they couldn't possibly survive without heated steering wheels with buttons so you don't have...oh lord...reach over to push the button... The horror. But people neeeeeeed it. If they quit making EVERYTHING a 4 door and go back to extended cabs, they could sell a truck on the same frame without a “baby” bed. I would buy that and the towing capacity would increase.
?? If they are selling a truck on the same frame, and assuming same drivetrain as well, the towing capacity would not increase. I do agree though, that many people do not need a 4 door pickup especially if it is not their only vehicle and/or they don't have children above age ~7 that need to ride in the back.
@@stinkycheese804 A smaller cab with smaller rear seats and less electronic junk for back passengers that you don’t have is going to weigh quite a bit less than an extra 1.25 feet of truck bed. That’s where your little extra capacity is going to come from.

Right on on picking the Frontier. I had one and put 450,000 miles with no issues. Hats off to that dealer for giving you the key and showing us the inside. Gonna have to pay them a visit!
You might as well assume this Frontier isn't even made by the same company as one you bought years ago with 450K mi put on, as there is going to be nothing the same about the two besides the brand on the badge.
Feature wise the Ridgline is about the same price, has way better resale and the transmission won’t nuke itself in 60k miles…. It doesn’t come in olive drab though 😂 If resale and reliability were factored you’d be 100% wrong….that’s pretty good. It’s hard to be ALL wrong….😂
agreed. THe honda is well worth the extra few 1000. It gives a far superior ride and feels way more solid. Plus the reliability. Just change the timing belt every 90k miles or so and most likely will see 300k+ miles.
An excellent video, Sir. You referred Scotty's videos on the Frontier, and he was absolutely right; you are too. Back in October, I bought a 23 CPO Nissan Frontier SV 4x4; 12.7k miles and completely loaded with the Tech, Towing, Convenience AND Premium packages...... for just $38K out the door price. Best vehicle I've owned so far with no issues or complaints. Frontiers are a diamond in the rough, and I'll stand by that any day of the week.
Thanks to GREED of Corporations mostly at this point!! WAKE UP and start placing blame correctly on the corporations marking up prices grossly to increase greatly the profits for their shatrholdefs, knowing most people will buy their cover story that they HAD to increase costs to us "just to cover their increased costs due to inflation..." Bullshit! It has been proven inflation did not increase corporate costs nearly as much as corporations increased prices of their goods snd srvices. In other words, they are PRICE GAUGING customers, and far too many of us just accept it, and continue to buy things at these ridiculous prices, and just stupidly keep blaming inflation, or worse, put all blame on Biden!
I have been driving Nissan trucks for years. Always had great reliability. Good strong motors and tough trucks. Definitely one of the best you can get today.
My husband and i bought a 2024 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 model we love it. We always buy toyota's but we did not like the 2023 Tacoma the seating was uncomfortable and it was constantly searching for gears.
Plus the Tacoma's seating is too low to accommodate the low roofline. They have been criticized for that for years. Same deal with the Four Runner. Nice reliable vehicles if your 5'8"
Now wait a minute here, you said that a Toyota Tacoma TRD is a $60k truck new... Lets do some basic math here; $51,995 x average 14% interest rate for a used vehicle at this moment in time is $7,279.30. Add the two numbers together and you get $59,274.30. Who's paying $60k for a used Tacoma with 6k miles on it. KBB shows trade in value on a used TRD nicely loaded at 39,9 low end to 43,3 high end. The dealership is making a killing on it and you're making it sound like a good deal. The 2nd owner is going to take a massive hit on depreciation as it leaves the lot for the second time. This is why car and truck prices are still so high. STOP buying these vehicles at these ridiculous prices. You're not going to save $10k, you're going to pay back $60k on a 2nd owner vehicle with its value losing probably another $5k to $10k.
you must have some seriously CRAPPY credit if you are paying 14% interest on a late model used car.....just got 8.5% on a 2015 last month....btw genius after your credit score your interest rate is based on the year of the vehicle
@@GrimmReaper1721 run your numbers.....there is a MAJOR difference in payments between 14% and if it is a NEWER used as is suggested a likely 7% interest rate $56k @ 7% for 72 months = $954.74/month $56k @ 14% for 72 months = $1153.72/month an ADDITIONAL $200/month for 72 months or $14.4k in INTEREST.......boy is your interest BAAAAAAD
@grimmreaper And you also have to consider that if you would say get involved in an accident and the truck was totaled a month later, the insurance company would only pay the amount of what the truck was worth, not the inflated price paid at the dealership . Thats all dealerships do is mark up prices. They should be abolished! By now we should have other alternatives to buying straight from the manufacturers themselves and completely bypass the dealerships slimy experience. Its time to EVOLVE! All we need is a showroom and delivery service. Financing can be done online. There is absolutely no need for a dealership.
But back in the days, dealers got their congress-critters and pet legislators to pass laws that make it hard for manufacturers to bypass dealers and sell directly to consumers. So while we feel we don't need them, we are stuck with them until all those laws get abolished. (Meanwhile, they still have the lawmakers' ears, and we don't.)
Don't think because you buy a Tesla on line that your are getting it cheaper than if there were dealers. Tesla is taking the profit the dealer would get and they are not reducing the price because of it. They have the highest Mark up than any other manufacturer. I've never ever paid list, not even for my electric car. People who pay these prices are creating the problems. Stop being idiots.
@@richardmartink679 -- If we did away with dealerships, the process would only change a little. You would still go to a showroom, talk with a commissioned salesperson, and take delivery at that location. There would be a service bay somewhere on site or nearby. The prices would be roughly the same. What would be different is the fact that the sales office would only deal with one company's brands. They would be more knowledgeable about their brands, etc. Warranty work would be simplified because you would only have to convince one bureaucracy that there is a problem. Trade-ins would probably all be sent to auction, and buying a used car would likely not happen at major-brand showrooms. You would probably get more for trade-ins of the same brand, since they would have an interest in convincing you that their brand retains value better then their competitors' brands.
Pricing is still an insult, I agree. It's not a straight comparison, but back in 2019 I went shopping for a used Tacoma. That lasted about a day. So I decided to try and find a Frontier Desert Runner (4x2 with manual). I ended up with a Frontier SE 4.0L V6 4WD manual 68k mi - one owner, good CarFax etc. I figure I came out somewhere between $7k and $10k to the good versus an identical Tacoma. I've owned 6 Toyotas (2 of them trucks), and 4.5 years in I'm still really happy w/this Frontier (and I drove it off the lot fully paid for).
You can get a lower trim for under $40k msrp. Plus most people report that Nissan will negotiate the price under MSRP. I suspect $35-38k is very doable for a crew cab 4x4. The main issue with Nissan is the outdated infotainment center and dash. however, that's the compromise you make by accepting that but not having turbo headaches and other drive line issues.
I worked at a Chevy dealer in 1970 in "new car make ready" The trucks came from the factory with no bed and no A/C, no power brakes, no power steering and no chrome packages. The customer would pick what they wanted and I would build it. I wish some company would sell a BASIC truck and let the buyer pick what they want. I know we have to have computers (crap) and other "safety" things but i'm sure a simple basic car and truck could be made and be much cheaper.
I had a couple of V6 Frontiers years ago and in 9 years of ownership, I only ever had to perform periodic maintenance; never had to take them in for repairs (not counting being rear ended twice while at stop lights). Back seat became too small for growing family so I've had four F-150s since and every one of them were constantly going back to have warranty work done on them.
get the titan its a v8 frontier. They use the same parts from frontier. The cabs are also spacious af. Go test drive one to see how it is. my 06 is nearing 300k miles and only failed the manifolds x4 but its a near 2 decade old truck. Zero issues other than maintenance from the manual. Never had a ford last me 200k miles without needing a new transmission same with chevy...
Anyone notice that all of the dealerships that he shows up at are LOADED with trucks and SUVs. The reason is that they have out-priced themselves to consumers. The dealerships are waiting for the suckers to come in. I haven't purchased a new vehicle since 2001.
I went into a Nissan dealer in Gulfport, Mississippi with $22,000 cash in my pocket back in 1995. I offered to buy a Nissan Frontier for CASH. They wouldn't even speak to me. Told me to get off their lot that they didn't sell anything for cash. Banks only. In 2001, I bought a 1997 Nissan Hardbody, used, for $13k, Cash with 32,000 miles on it. Best vehicle I ever bought. That being said, buying high mileage used and restoring is the best way now. $2500 for the kind you want and $7500 for bumper to bumper complete renewal. So you basically have a new car/truck for $10k.
@@donsmith2374 These dealers want the kickback from the banks, and I assume they are substantial. Never understood why it's the norm to "buy" a car with the sticker price in mind, but after all enforced fees/Taxes and the interest for financing, the bottom line has nothing to do with the sticker price anymore. Again: We the people could change all that, IF everybody would only buy what they can afford at the time (cash in hand). But I guess the majority does not comprehend that, or does at least not care. ...just my current perspective - maybe I am mislead/wrong?
dealerships stocking higher trim options of the Maverick on their lot doesn't really make the truck controversial, it just points to how people on car lots tend to make emotional decisions and want all the features when they drive the different trims and models. like you said, you can order one online, but the instant gratification you point to wanting on the lot is exactly why they make more on higher trim stock. also that 2024 Lariat trim was pretty nice.
I love that the Frontier is a naturally aspired larger engine as opposed to a small, turboed, eco-boost bs engine. I bought a 2019 in 2020 for less than $20K and that thing rocks. Covid increased used car prices and my 19 is worth more today than when I bought it (still). Best thing is, it may be small, but is in every way a true truck.
if vehicles are too cheap, the dealers mark them up and call it "market adjustment" keeping it for themselves. Car companies took advantage of this and raised the prices to take those profits themselves.
Hey, but at least the Frontiers start in the mid $30k price range… Shit! With a nine speed tranny (transmission 😉) it will always be hunting for the correct gear.
I'm so glad I bought my current car (2014) used in 2017. It cost me 25Gs, and that is a chunk of change. Older now, make much more money, but the same cars I couldn't afford then, I certainly can't or don't want to afford today. I remember 4 runners being 38k back then and that was out of budget. I WISH they were that price now, and I prob still would be hesitant.
Dealers are stupid to load a cheap truck with options. I would like a small truck like the old Datsun pickup. I six engine, keyed ignition, roll up windows, 4 speed stick, no power steering or power brakes air conditioning. am/fm radio.
Great job, the Frontier is overlooked because people don’t trust Nissan but they are good. I was going to do a similar video on the same thing, Instead I’ll just enjoy yours :). 40k is still too much though, buy used or wait
whats the point of a small truck with a bed only big enough for a trip to the grocery store.perhaps they should watch their own 1983 advertisements for the ranger.
.... Only trips to the grocery store? Are you serious? I just sold two buckets from my JD backhoe. I've hauled 25 90lb bags of cement. I've hauled 20 sheets of 1/2 " OSB.... I like my 22 Maverick so much I now also have a 2024 Maverick... And I average 42 mpg. Shall I go on? Oh, on the 22, now 52k miles and zero issues.
This still blows my mind. I bought a brand new GMC 2500 6.0 in 2016 for $36,000. It was a base model, but it's still a 4x4 3/4 ton truck. I never imaged 8 years later a hot wheels truck would cost the same.
we own a Honda Ridgeline and we love it. Fancy trim and it dies farm things for the wife. And we take long trips in comfort. We also own an older Ram full size for real farm tasks.
I’m not sure what this reviewer’s reasoning was for not recommending the Ridgeline other than he just doesn’t like it. But from the video he makes exceptions for other vehicles he does recommend that the RL has the same attributes. Maverick is unibody construction and is considered a “light use” truck and he’s ok with that. The Frontier is a body on frame but he barely mentions that and points out its reliable V6 which the Ridgeline also has.. but this guy never covers what exactly he doesn’t like about the RL. If you don’t like it that’s ok but as a reviewer you have a responsibility to explain why and have some credible reasons why.. if it’s just the styling.. well..say that. The RL is a great truck that does what most people need from a truck and leaves out things you don’t really need. Not sure what the hate is about.
Customers need to change the question they ask themselves. "I am I willing to part with 1, or more likely, 2 paychecks a month for years to have the truck? If not buy used.
No trucks are affordable in Canada. Yes, the Ridgeline is the best buy, only if you take into consideration, reliability. I still have my 2006 Ridgeline. Now with 270,000km and still running strong. I have had to do regular maintenance such as tires, brakes, spark plugs, battery, windshield, and timing belt. The only thing that broke is the Navigation and the LCD Odometer. Everything else works great. I stupidly loaded around 3,600 pounds into it, hauling tile. I was not thinking, but nothing got hurt. I confirmed the weight because I could calculate the weight of tiles per box and that is very accurate. I confirmed by 2 witnesses that my local dealer, the Service Manager had around 750,000km on the Ridgeline - with original engine and transmission. Try that with a Colorado or Maverick... An older Tacoma might do that though.

You are so correct about the Frontier. Out of all of the small trucks the Frontier by far is the best one of them all. The Frontier motor will still be running strong when the others are getting melted down at the junk yard.
thought..... design a modular Options car & truck.... meaning a bare truck is the same as the loaded one.... you get to pick your color then build the options that can be added at the dealer... the current options make no sense to me.... if they came up with module options you could install the option package you want by yourself.
That's the way Hondas are sold, the trucks have 4 trim levels to choose from, everything else is dealer installed or possibly you could do it your self.
That's cool.... but my thought is dealers and buyers would be better off.... if.... all the trucks were base models the dealer would only order different colors... so he would always have the color you wanted and you just say I want this module and that module .... it is what I think all EV are going to do.... since they are all electric they can make one car / truck with all the options.... then you buy the car... whatever options you purchased will be unlocked and the rest won't be useable..... unless you pay for the firmware update for that option.@@jeffmiller3150
You clearly have never driven a Ridgeline. I drove one a a goof while shopping Pilots. Expected to laugh at it, and then bought it. It is more than a pickup, it is a family vehicle. Only usable backseat in any mid sized truck. The trunk and tailgate are great. Only mid sized truck you are going to lay 4x8 material flat on bed between wheel wells. Still has a naturally aspirated V6. Next time you're at the Honda dealer take one for a drive.
What an odd video. You completely discount the Honda which may be unibody but can tow 5k pounds and has a naturally aspirated V6 tried and true then you go to Nissan and say how great a non turbo engine is? Also the Honda was the same price as that Nissan with as much if not more room. you’ve got to be paid by Nissan for this. Heck even the Colorado is a better option compared to the Nissan.
Interesting take on the trucks...I looked at um all and for the same reason as Nisson, I got a Honda. One thing important to me was there's 49" between wheel wells, an internal spare tire, and huge luggage department under the bed. The towing is 6,000lbs. There are very few accessories for it. Aftermarket Camper shells and sliding rear windows would be nice. The wheels it comes with are spiffy too.
and... the cheapest "cheap truck" is still over 31k for the 2 wheel drive version. Add 4x4, taxes, fees..... and your at 40k for a "cheap truck". Pre-covid you get get a 4x4 base Tacoma for 25k. No thanks.
Beware….some of these prices are SCAMS used to hook you in to get u to the dealership! Read the FINE PRINT. The dealers get u in and then ALWAYS add on at least $5,000 worth of crap (window tint, windshield protection, paint protection, ceramic coating, theft protection) that they say CANNOT be deducted. Now that great deal is $5,000-$8,000 higher!! This happened to me in at Central Houston Nissan.

@@michaelkendall662 At 8.5% a person would still have to finance $56k for a used vehicle that has already lost a ton of value.
@@GrimmReaper1721 run your numbers.....there is a MAJOR difference in payments between 14% and if it is a NEWER used as is suggested a likely 7% interest rate
$56k @ 7% for 72 months = $954.74/month
$56k @ 14% for 72 months = $1153.72/month
an ADDITIONAL $200/month for 72 months or $14.4k in INTEREST.......boy is your interest BAAAAAAD
Hey genius you just gave 69 grand for a used truck. Thats is Grimm's point.@@michaelkendall662

And you also have to consider that if you would say get involved in an accident and the truck was totaled a month later, the insurance company would only pay the amount of what the truck was worth, not the inflated price paid at the dealership . So they could only pay out $40 k, not the 60k paid. Most people don’t get gap insurance

Ridgeline is underrated. Backseat room for car seats and anything in between beats all trucks just shown. I believe it is wider as well. Drives great. I feel its only downfall is people just do not like the way it looks.
I paid $24K for my NEW 2023 Maverick. Yes, I ordered the basic trim hybrid and had to wait a couple months.
Doesn't anyone have delayed gratification anymore?
What about service?

Nissan Frontier?...C'mon man...47k?...LMAO
Fr them prices are ass
I worked at a Chevy dealer in 1970 in "new car make ready" The trucks came from the factory with no bed and no A/C, no power brakes, no power steering and no chrome packages. The customer would pick what they wanted and I would build it. I wish some company would sell a BASIC truck and let the buyer pick what they want. I know we have to have computers (crap) and other "safety" things but i'm sure a simple basic car and truck could be made and be much cheaper.

So you basically have a new car/truck for $10k.

dealerships stocking higher trim options of the Maverick on their lot doesn't really make the truck controversial, it just points to how people on car lots tend to make emotional decisions and want all the features when they drive the different trims and models. like you said, you can order one online, but the instant gratification you point to wanting on the lot is exactly why they make more on higher trim stock.
also that 2024 Lariat trim was pretty nice.

Not sure what the hate is about.

thought..... design a modular Options car & truck.... meaning a bare truck is the same as the loaded one.... you get to pick your color then build the options that can be added at the dealer...
the current options make no sense to me.... if they came up with module options you could install the option package you want by yourself.
