- The Lexus ES F Sport is an all-new version of this mid-size Japanese luxury sedan. The F Sport aims to inject some more athleticism into this hybrid four-door, with the 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine keeping fuel bills low. But can the Lexus ES 300h compete with the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series? In this video, a review of the 2020 Lexus ES 300h F Sport, Tom drives the newest Lexus sedan, looking into its dynamics, luxury, practicality and value for money.

I like the fact that you talk about cars like a normal person - just because a car doesn’t have all the bells and whistles doesn’t mean it can’t do what you want.
Thanks, Paul. I don’t want to get bogged down in industry-speak.
Absolutely love the whole colour combo
Looks great, doesn't it.
Great review
I’d like to see more car reviews keep it up mate (:
We'll certainly be doing that!
So I’ve reviewed the Luxury and Sports Luxury and driven all 3, the luxury, F-Sport and Sports Luxury.
I think if you can afford the Sports Luxury it’s by far the Best Buy. I wanted to like the F-Sport because it’s so good looking but I just think the 19” wheels make it touch bit too hard especially after you’ve driven the Sports Luxury or even Luxury.
You mentioned it drives smoother than the Luxury but I would only half agree. If you on those nice mountain roads then yes but anywhere else it would be a bit too hard especially with our Aussie roads! Great review!
Nice review Tom. Any updates on the Rav4 long term review vid? Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Yes, working on it ... we lost a bunch of RAV4 project files and have been working to recover them. Not good, but think we are getting somewhere.
Hope we get more Lexus reviews
Can confirm you will be getting more.
I have lots of Lexus video's on my channel if you want to see :)
@@CarsofGlasgow Hey Tom! Funny to see you here 😂😄
@@SergCarReviews Yeah hehe
Very nice review. Just buying black ES ;) Cheers from Poland.
Hello, have you bought it, how are your experiences? I'm planning to buy it in Poland as well, wanted to ask
Like the red interior. Nice
👍🏼
Great review mate.
I m looking for an ES.
👍
Thanks - glad it was a help.
Hey mate how did you go? Did you end up getting it?
Love your style Tom! Can you review Skoda Octavia RS?
I’ll see whether they have any available to text, Alexander.
Hands down..Lexus builds the best vehicles
High praise!
Mercedes, BMW, Porsche are definetly better
One thing i give to Lexus is reliability and great after sales service.
Love their red interior
I didn’t know Ed Sheeran does car review
Wow this is a stunning car
It’s quite a looker in this spec, I think.
agreed!
Gorgeous car.
If anything from Reports ES300h is a Segment grower in Aus, great looking car
Hi guys, can someone comment on sport mode and sport mode plus? Can it satisfy some sporty need in this car? I am taking es300h fsport into consideration and can't find any review on sport mode
love the seat colour. How does Lexus retain its value?
Hi Tom, great review. What is the exact exterior colour?
That’s Graphite Black with Flare Red interior 👍
I love this generation of ES! What do you think of the 2020 ES with the camera instead of traditional wing mirros (like the E-tron etc)
At the moment, I think the camera mirrors are an answer to a question nobody was asking
@@chasingcars haha I agree!! The Audi E-tron looks great with them but the ES doesn't really need them haha. Maybe on the LC :)
@@chasingcars Mirrors actually have a big impact in aerodynamics. They increase fuel consumption and generate a lot of wind noise. Probably Lexus and other premium brands are doing them quite well, but for cheaper cars mirrors are a big issue. About noise, and ride quality in general, do you think the ES F-Sport is as quiet as the ES Luxury , in terms of wind noise and rolling noise from the tires ? I have the IS F-Sport and it is quite noisy when you get past 50 mph , but it depends on the road quality as well.
Thanks you for the great video. You nearly sold me a Lexus ES300h. Just out of curiosity, people generally has the view that Lexus (ES300) is a loaded Camry although in certain reviews I have read that Lexus chassis are much refined than Toyota. Also not sure you mentioned anything about the CVT. I have read that early CVT cars have the 'rubber band' feeling when driving. Do you expect any significant changes to come in 2021 model including their safety system which I hear is a notch below Toyota's? With Lexus, I like everything expect the ugly grille which I find difficult to look away.
Mate you should definitely drive one! It will definitely sell itself! They are almost chalk and cheese. The CVT doesn’t have the rubber band feeling just really smooth and doesn’t have the drone when accelerating either. I’ve done a review on it as well, maybe it’ll give you another thought 😃 Have a good one!
I like the grille.
Nice looking car. The Red Leather is great! What is it with those Dealer Delivery Charges...
Agreed, Glenn. And yes - the dealer and government charges really add up on premium cars.
Lexus does offer promotions during the year. Like February is usually free f sport upgrade time and September is Lexibition. I think. March I think from memory, or soon after is free drive away. I just kept an eye out all year round and found the free f sport upgrade to be the best deal of them all. But then of course, there are limited numbers of options available.
I like the red,it makes it look very sporty 🇦🇺
Agreed, Simon.
It’s done so tastefully!
Can we get black interior?
Yes. You are going crazy. I would know. And I also like it... :D
Aren’t we all!
It should offer more engines such as
ES 350
ES 300 (8ar-fts)
And also get an AWD for these models
i agree an ES300 would be nice. it’d have a good amount of power without being too thirsty like a V6. They do have the ES350 though just not in AU
They have them then in the states and overseas except it’s called an ES250 and ES350. I did a review on the previous gen ES350, really wish they had the new gen here in Aus 😄
Nice review. You seem to like this a lot, and I agree. Also, video's looking crisp. New gear maybe?
Thanks, Steve! Just honing our process. Alek is a talented videographer.
Good video, even better car, the only problem is you're driving on the wrong side of the road!
😂😂😂 That’s how we drive in Australia!!
Hey Tom. I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the CVT transmission in this review or the one on the base model. Is it drony?
Yeah, you're right - I missed it. But the good thing is that means it is pretty unobtrusive. If you drive at eight-tenths or above you're going to notice the droning effect, but driven normally or even somewhat sportily the CVT just blends into the background.
@@chasingcars Thank you Tom.
When you introduce yourself...I am taken back to the 4th Doctor....I know you have heard that before 😀😂😅
Many times, Mike!
I would like your review of the new Lexus RX and ....the Renault Megane RS 2020!!!! Please
You can see our Lexus RX facelift video here: ruclips.net/video/Tina4OcztGI/видео.html
Yes I like the channel, and yes I have subscribed 👍. About this car- shame about FWD & CVT, otherwise looks hot.
Thanks, Daniel! Yeah, it would be mega if this car was RWD but it's still a very sorted package.
@pseudoswitch not in Australia :/
Red and black is the way to go... Amazing interior
Cmmon Lexus.. make a wagon version of this car with panoramic sunroof and take my money! 👌🏽
Oh and an AWD too 😃
That would be so great - or a RWD IS wagon.
Remember the IS wagon?
CarsofGlasgow thanks for pointing it out! We never got it in Oz so didn’t know.
@@Praveen-zn6yq Oh really? I never knew- I believe Lexus called it the IS Sportcross :)
Praveen i doubt you’ll ever get a wagon but rumors about awd in the camry, avalon, and es350 are swirling for 2021-2022
It's 45k in the US
We almost bought a UX250H. I really prefer a sedan with boot and rear seat space. This seems like it would be a good town and country vehicle. I was wondering what kind of spare wheel it has? You wouldn't want those 19" tyres to be run flats😖
It has a space saver spare - not run flats.
If I don’t need a seven seater (bar occasionally), this will be my next car, love Lexus, currently driving a last gen IS, but that is before I have kids. Love the interior colour but hate Lexus’s infortainment system, worst of the worst. But the reliability and quality outweigh everything else, not to mention the awesome resale value.
Do LC 500 pls
LC 500 is the next Lexus video you’ll see on this channel
@@chasingcars Yass!!
I have the LC 500 if you want to see it :)

They’re such a frkin awesome car! The engine note is just 🤤
Agree the red is much smarter than dull black.
We think alike, David!
Curious to find out how the top of the range Camry Hybrid stacks up against the ES...
They’re similar under the skin, but I’d say the biggest differences are to do with the plushness and quality in the interior, overall quietness, and also how it soaks up bumps.
Chasing Cars I’m just wondering whether the $30k uplift on drive away for the Lexus Is worth it.
Art Key weird how luxury cars are priced in Australia, 30k can get you another brand new car. In the US a base model ES is only like 1-2 grands more expensive than a fully loaded camry.
Kylo Solo true. $30k more for what is effectively a Camry in drag.
@@AKA001 In Europe the base Camry is about 30k euro ... you can add some options on that, not sure how much but it does not change the car .... basically a box full of shiny plastic (which I hate). Than the ES F-Sport is about 60k euro ... and while technically they are very similar , the ES build quality and materials are way nicer. Now I only touched and sat in an ES in a showroom, but I can compare Camry with the IS ... and there is no comparison, IS is much better in every aspect (and I am not comparing engine performance) , I imagine the ES is even better.
Is the Fsport 300h only in the USA, I don't see this available on the Canadian website
This is in Australia.
@@chasingcars you guys are lucky I wish I had this as an option
What is new ?
Just brought this car and I like it but it is a little boring. The accessibility of the apple car play is annoying and cumbersome, missing the panoramic sunroof and the kick trunk access. Don’t get me wrong it is a really nice car but there are little things I’ve enjoyed in other cars that this car doesn’t have or you have to pay an additional arm and leg to enjoy the amenities
Would it be too much if I expected around 5.7l/100km on this one?
No, that sounds about right.
Not that I'm ever going to buy one, but out of interest, how much better is this than the Camry? I've heard the new Camry is pretty darn good - this has to be amazing to be worth so much more.
Quieter and much more plush inside, and the damping is more sophisticated with less pronounced rebound. But, yes, the new Camry is really impressive to drive as well.
Jag xf or Lexus es which one to buy?
ES for reliability, XF for panache
18´´ or 19´´ please
Damn i miss the gs why don,t they offer an es450h like they did with the gs this thing is not interesting enough in europe people get german cars it is just under powered
Seats should have been tan colour! :D
That would be even better!
There used to be an ox-blood sort of colour that was a more sombre red in one of the Lexus's a long time ago and looked a lot better to my mind. This red is a touch too loud for the demographic that normal buys the ES, although I suppose they are aiming to embrace a younger demographic with the F-sport which is really an outright contradiction for this model car in my opinion. At least it has the variable dampers but with it's CVT transmission and FWD it does not make a lot of sense with the F-sport which is supposed to provide a sporty drive, not just with suspension but also transmission and engine performance. I guess the performance will be fine for the older generation but it still does not make it a sporty F-sport drive. I think I would rather higher profile tires for less potential damage to the expensive wheels and a bit more comfort, rather than the 19" wheels to show off what a sporty car you are supposedly driving . Having said all that it is a nice car. I just think I am probably a potential Sports Luxury buyer rather than an F-sport buyer.
@@robman2095 definitely agreed! I work for Lexus and the F Sport is by far the least ordered model with most people buying the Sports Luxury (cos let’s face it you’re probably a bit older if you’re buying an ES and have a bit more to spend). The 19” wheels are definitely too big for Aussie roads and 18” sit just right for comfort and overall roll when cornering.
In the Luxury and Sports Luxury you can get them in what they call Chateau interior and it looks sensational!
One more thing left.. RWD
Nice Awesome Video! 0-60 on this car pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee???
0-100km/h for the ES 300h is 8.9 seconds. Relaxed, not fast.
@@chasingcars wow that's slower than 2017 version... 😑 Thought it's Es350 5. 8 and 300h 7.8 on 2017version...
Ed Sheeran does car reviews.
Better than his music?
I thought it was Prince Harry. I don't think that he's called that now, think its Meghan's pet Ranga.
Current IS350 or ES300h, both in F sport trim?
IS 350 still, for its RWD purity, though the fact you’d be using twice the fuel would have to be a major consideration.
@@chasingcars if only the IS have the ES
interior
Sleek elegant looking car, needs more power and choices of engines and awd.much better looking then the germans mercedes and bmws exterior lol,but Audi is on it when it comes to exterior designs now,and mercedes are making nice interiors.

Can wait for lc500f sport with twin turbo v8 engine
Ooooof.
I have the LC 500 if you want to see it?
ruclips.net/video/dCtRee5rxbM/видео.html
Did Ed Sheeran start reviewing cars?
2:25 steering wheel looks like Camery's.
NO "Touch screen monitor!!!". Is it 2009 model?
2:30 CVT!!!
Try the 350 if you're able to get ahold of one also! It's much better
Lexus don't offer the V6 for the ES in Australia. All we get is this hybrid version.
yes, I think ES 350 is only for US, Middle East and probably some parts of Asia .....
You’re Tom Baker and that’s Chasing Cars.
🙋🏼♂️✌🏽
I'm curious, Is the 2017 and 2020 Truck SAME or different???
They're super quiet.
Very refined.
0-60?
Nine seconds
You’re going crazy...😜
It's good, trust me!
The car is missing it’s antenna
I don’t think they have them anymore!
My O4'ES 330 Has the Antenna Built into Windshield.Bad for AM Reception @ Nite & More Exp.if Ur Windshield Gets Busted
Yikes that red interior is hideous. Mine has the tan interior.
🤔ES👀 IS MATURING🌞🗺WELL🌌
Indeed.
You’re missing the v6, trust me.
Not sure I am - we get that engine in the Camry, and while it's a good, smooth unit, it didn't sweep me off my feet
Chasing Cars those hybrids are no fun to drive, I hate cvts.
In the GS, yes!
Totally gorgeous car. All it needs is 20 more kws and awd. Then it is perfect. Maybe slightly narrower...So to decrease the door marks of inconsiderate bastards
I hope they consider bringing the 3.5 V6 model here. That would be great.
@@nickhayesreviews yaya. Awd v6 in the facelift will be even greater.
They've shot down the idea a few times - they like running with the hybrid only marketing on ES. However, you never know what facelift time will bring.
70k and front wheel drive
Just a dressed up Camry. Should go for a GS
It’s never been less of a dressed-up Camry, if that makes sense. Like, it is, but it’s just such a different experience.
@@chasingcars I understand, but if i was spending 70k, I would want a car that is mechanically different to the mainstream counterpart. But to each their own, can't go wrong with a lexus either way. Are the GS and the ES in the same class?
@@Visbalalam nope wrong. Massive interior quality boost
@@Visbalalam the GS is suppose to classed above the ES to to compete with A6, 5, E etc. The ES is in a class of its own really. Priced to compete with mid range C,3,A4 (also FWD) but size is E,A6,5 level.
I never understood the need for Apple car play/Android Auto when all these car companies spend millions into making their own software. Maybe on budget cars but now high end ones
They might spend millions, but Apple and Google spend billions - better to leave the software to the software people, and let the car makers focus on making cars
Cvt shit!!!!! On lexus .... better germans
2020 Lexus with 2007 Camry Hybrid tech.
Newer hybrid system, though - way more refined ‘step’ between electric and petrol propulsion.
