Parkland Victim's Father Tony Montalto Gives Final Statement Before Shooter's Sentencing

- Victims’ families get their final say in court prior to the sentencing of the Parkland school shooter. The statements follow a nearly three-month trial, after which a jury of seven men and five women could not unanimously agree on the death penalty for the convicted killer, resulting in a life sentence.
I love how he referred to him by his prison number, leaving him nameless and no more than a number. He can get his point across without being verbally vicious. The way he spoke and the facts he brought up. This man is out for a positive change, and that in itself will help future victims making it harder on murderers.
His speech is the best of the lot. Very measured. Well done Mr. Montalto

Cruz was an expelled student &I've never heard an explanation for how he got back on that campus in the first place?
When something like this goes down the agencies having jurisdiction like the FBI( that was notified by at least two people about Cruz before he did this) and the Broward county sheriff's department (which was also notified) and whose conduct and response was disgraceful in the response to this shooting, should have to testify before Senate hearings- laying out their case why they dropped or failed to act on intelligence about someone like Cruz and/or why their staff as was the resource officer- Scott Peterson were befuddled, cowardly and incompetent in the face of danger.
The murderer has more rights than the dead victims.

Very few people in this world particularly in this country go through their lives& regardless of their backgrounds are responsible for taking another human life- whether it be justified or unjustified, let alone taking 17 lives premeditatively. I am learning something from every single impact statement. The families did a lot of research and put so much thought into their statements, besides their emotional hearts on their sleeves for all to witness. How well protected the killer is in the court is almost horribly ridiculous.
I appreciate that some, like this father, call the killer only by his criminal ID number. He calls out the defense team’s unprofessional behavior and their need to win ‘at all cost’ including harming the victims families with attacks. Shame on that team and how dare they hold their heads up as they do. They should all feel much shame.

I am just too shocked to know that children's death in parkland school murder is not being held accountable for his atrocities, have our court of law justice become collaborators of evil and consider these children lives , this is injustice shame on our government whom does not protect the innocent victims. The impact of the words that these people are speaking as the victim's family are extraordinarily smart, articulate, and painfully recognizable with such articulously. The strength the courage the amazing ability of self-control is far beyond anything I can imagine. I commend the parents of these victims such respect such dignity that they had to hold it together it's probably on anything I could have done. Seeing this as well as the Darrell Brooks trial tells me there is something seriously wrong with our justice system. Why was the jury protected from the truth of this monster, pictures of his victims, when his victims had nothing to protect them against his evil? This jury did NOT do their due diligence, duty & deliberate adequately over the sentence for a Iow-life that murdered 17 people. I also think Cruz should have been forced to remove his mask for victim impact statements. Another demonstration of his cowardice. His defense attorneys expressing "outrage" over the victim's statements regarding the defense team's behavior & the jury's lack of adequate deliberation & decision is despicable. I think we should start with some sort of a petition. At very least, Tamara Curtis and Gordon Weekes. Their disrespect at this trial for murdered children was like spitting on their graves.

💯crimes like these are why the death penalty still exists. I agree with Mr. Montalto that the jury was misled by the defense. It’s not fair to the victims the way he was portrayed. He only deserves to be called by his inmate number. There are no excuses for these school shootings and this should have sent a message across this country. But the opportunity was missed and he’ll get to live out the rest of his days in prison. He should have unanimously received the DEATH PENALTY!!!
I’m really not one who’s been all for the death penalty, and a part of me, a small part of me, had some type of empathy for Nikolas. BUT when I saw his cellphone videos it washed that small part away. This case I think death penalty is more then appropriate.

I learn something new every time. The other parent taught me the shooter was professionally getting help. This parent has talked about the laws like jury majority laws he wants instead. They are strong and overcoming evil by good. Peace and grace to the parents. Prayer that Jesus will heal everyone.
