They don’t like child predators or child killers. There were other inmates killed in Florida prisons. It’s not uncommon. He would’ve been safer on Death row. It takes many years before it’s carried out. He would be in his late 30s or early 40s when he’s executed. Serial killer Bobby Joe Long was on Death row for almost 35yrs before he got executed in 2019.

May the Lord comfort these family members who have suffered such great agonizing pain. The hardest thing a momma or daddy can do is experience a child's death. I can understand the hurt and anger you must feel for this murderer and the heartfelt unjustice you feel. I have experienced this pain myself. But their was no penalty at all given to the ones who killed my son. I felt a great injusted was done and I believe his murdered was covered up even by the so called law. But this is how I came through it. I had to realize that for me to live was for me to forgive. The ones responsible for my son's death were done by and were lead by the demons of that follow Satan himself. For me to hate would of given them more victory. Would of destroyed my life. So I chose to recognize the true monster Satan himself. The individuals were lied to and convinced this was the way they should go. When Jesus was on the cross he told his father to forgive them for they know not what they do. Forgiving is for you dear ones! It is given the greatest heartache you have ever experienced to the Lord to carry. It is releasing the anger and hatred from you so you can heal. A wise person told me "anger and hatred is like you drinking a poison hoping to kill the other person". Dear ones I hope to encourage you don't drink the poison! Turn it over to the Lord, allow him to comfort your hearts and heal your hearts. It will soon be 23 years since I lost my son. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't think of him. I think of the good times and funny times, because that brings me a smile. I refuse to think on the way and time he lost his life. I refuse to allow Satan one more day of feeling victory through my suffering. The Lord will take any revenge out on this evil. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. Again may the Lord comfort and heal your broken hearts.

I guess I can see the frustration that you disagree with the jury but don't pretend this will have any impact beyond that
Well it is called criminal justice = justice for criminal. Shame on those that defend them. They should fear karma

Everything this man said is so true! It’s horrible to think how the justice system allowed this hideous monster to live.
“The system is biased against the victims” 100% true and it’s sad
I am not for the death penalty, on cases where guilt is questionable, but those caught red handed on video or proof beyond a reasonable doubt, yes put em to death
So then you are for death penalty.... lol

If guilt is questionable then by definition the person should be found not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Assuming the doubt is reasonable which is a specific legal definition by the way.
False conviction of any crime is exceedingly rare thanks to improvement in every aspect of technology (HD VIDEO AND AUDIO RECORDERS ARE EVERYWHERE NOW), law enforcement, and society.

I love that Mr Montalto did not use the murderer's name. That monster should not be given any more notoriety by using his name. I lived and taught in Oxford, Michigan and my daughter and her family still live there. This madness must stop!!!!
There’s nothing about our legal system that REQUIRES juries to impose penalty sentences at all. It’s seems that would be the proper role for the judge AFTER the jury decides the basic matter of guilt or innocence.
Correction: guilty vs not guilty.
But you get the point.
Depends on the state. I can see how it works both ways.

But where was the sympathy for my grandson who was almost crushed to death! My heart felt sympathy and support to all of the families who have suffered with the loss of their loved ones and at the hands of a unjust system.

I am so glad that DeSantis changed the death penalty requirement to a simple majority instead of a unanimous requirement.... I can't imagine the pain this father is feeling.....
I can’t believe this kid didn’t get the death penalty. How can anyone think that he deserves to live out his life in prison after killing so many people? I feel this father’s pain. Everything he said was spot on point. I think the death penalty should be automatic when there is a mass shooting like this. I think the manor in which they put the mass murderer to death should be painful and done publicly for all to see. Maybe if these school shooters are tortured to death live on TV, the next one will think twice before doing the same.
It shouldn’t be our job to decide who lives and dies, because are we any better ?
I believe in the Death Penalty! I am sick of knowing that the justice system did not work for these 17 families who have lost lives while this Monster gets to live. I pray for love and peace to all these families who will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.

If ANY case deserved the death penalty, it is this one.
We have lost the strength to uphold our responsibilities as adults to future generations of what precisely is meant by deterrent. The jury, this jury, failed us all. Even if he was on death row, it’d be likely no different
Criticism of the jury is uncalled for.
I’m sure if you had kids you would’ve felt differently. But actually it’s good he’s going to the general population. Him being white and beating the Death sentence is not going to be good for him. I’ve watched many Florida cases since the 70s. Inmates have been killed by other inmates. Florida Serial killer Gerard Schaefer was ambushed and killed in his cell by another inmate.
Their verdict was what that law states must be considered. There were mitigating factors that explained his actions.
I hope that juror is absolutely disgusted in themselves
That was brutal !!!!!
Wow!! What a powerful statement this father made! So professional and held it together, yet straight to the point! He nailed it all! The defense going out of their way to help the murderer. Similar to how Darrell Brooks in the waukesha parade murders, so much protection under the law...
The judge should not allowed these attacks on the jury. Deeply unprofessional.
That is why she was reprimanded by the Florida Supreme Court. She was supposed to be fair and not only to be fair but seen to be fair.
Shame on those jurors
So I guess you’d say the same thing about the James Holmes jurors as well?
I mean he too got life without parole and he killed 12 people.
I don’t remember this level of outrage and controversy when that happened
I love this guy. Said everything perfectly.
It truly was heart wrenching to hear this father talk, i have no children of my own but i can only but imagine what it must have been like to stand up like that and face such an evil person knowing they will get off with a life sentence. To the father and other victims families i can only say how powerfully strong you are to go through this and try to maintain some kind of memory of your loved ones and to the best of your abilities bring such evil to justice :(
So even jury members now are the problem. People will say and do anything to avoid serving if they have to be subject to this stuff.
Thank you for saying that
He'll likely do the first 10-20 years in the hole. I've worked the hole at an Indiana Prison, and I can tell you that the misery he's going to experience will be like none other. It's nearly impossible to sleep some nights with inmates screaming and kicking their doors. He will get an hour a day in a outdoor cage, and more than likely he'll never be able to get visitors. Oh, and the food is always cold and looks and tastes like dogshit.

OMG I'm crying. This case is so hard to digest. WOW! BC Canada
I've worried about this for years, the possibility of a juror opposed to the death penalty being duplicitious when being chosen to serve. What is to stop this from happening, someone determined to thwart a death verdict by not answering jury selection questions honestly?
😞 This man said it best on deaf ears.....🤨Meanwhile the dirtbag 👨goes on living. Still never remorseful or shedding a tear for what he did. The jury had more tears. 🤦
He is probably on medication to keep him from reacting. I understand how angry everyone is. However Jesus has the final say on all this. So glad He is the Judge.
The jury members that did this should be ashamed. They should be publically shamed by others. MEDIA, report their names.
Wow! How did he manage to hold it together? I’m sure his daughter would have been very proud of him. That’s a man.
A jury of clowns, not these victims' family's peers!
The one juror who couldn’t let her petty morality go for these families is just as much a heartless soulless monster as nikolas Cruz. So help me, I want to drag that juror before these family members and leave her to fend for herself in a room with these grieving parents.
The three jurors that voted against the death penalty should be investigated and punished for their anti-death penalty activism.
That’s a purely ignorant thing to say.
News flash, death penalty doesn’t actually deter crime and it’s also more expensive.
