- Manuel Oliver, the father of 17-year-old Joaquin Oliver who was shot and killed by Nikolas Cruz, who murdered 16 others at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, spoke to Cruz in court ahead of his sentencing in Florida. Victims and relatives spent the last two days giving impact statements in court. Cruz was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

A sentence of life without parole IS a death sentence, but it comes without an execution date.
That’s bullshit or else it would be called a death sentence not a life sentence. Justice was not served in that court! 3 meals a day, free medical care and a bed to rest on is not justice no matter what bad things happen to him in prison.

I’m glad he was the last one to speak, he told the defense team exactly what they needed to hear, that no one cares about them! No one knew if the defense team had children or not, the victims parents were making a general statement to anyone that may have been parents. The defense team got so butt hurt they revealed who had kids with their stupid selves. Just like he said, they all of a sudden made the trial about them and their children. This showed how incompetent the defense team was, along with the “middle finger lady”. She’s lucky she didn’t get held in contempt!!! I love how restrained this poor father was, while speaking a very heartfelt truth. As for this group of public defenders, I have no words, no epithets, to describe how utterly low, utterly despicable, and utterly disgusting their actions have been throughout this trial. At the very least, they need to be investigated by whatever body governs lawyers in that jurisdiction. If it were up to me, they'd never practice law one more day. And, finally, kudos to Judge Scherer who had to navigate through this shocking madness.

They gave him a life sentence. He will spend 23 hours of 24 inside a Cage 2x3 thinking about his mistakes and damn himself for it. Its a more suffering sentence. Its too Easy for him to die quickly.

Kudos to the Judge for letting this man have his say. Forget life in prison without chance of parole. Forget the death penalty. Whether you are religious or not whatever "entity" placed our "Souls" in our bodies, I hope these prosecutors have to explain why they defended this disgusting human being and why they minimized the families of the victims to "it". Well they are still lawyers at the end of the day, sometimes it's not their choice of who to defend as defendants have the right to have an attorney. And sometimes they have to stoop so low in order to win their case even if the defendant is clearly in the wrong.
