  • Nikolas Cruz is facing a possible death sentence for killing 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018. Stephen Schusler, who lived across the street from Cruz, testified about his interactions with Cruz, including how Cruz would run in the neighborhood. Schusler at one point provided a demonstration showing how Cruz ran.

    Why are so many people calling this guy a creep? He was in his driveway, working on his motorcycle. It's easy to see the neighbor across the street. Maybe too many of y'all never go outside because it's too hard to see your screen in the sunlight.

      The judge has a job to do and make sure that everyone is safe and sticks to the rules of the court. Am sure there are no hard feelings it just has to be done. Most people that have taken the stand do not know what to do and are like fish out of water. The judge has to keep things moving along and make sure he did not go off track which he was doing.

    • @robp.7769
      @robp.7769 Год назад +4

      @@exoticprairie The fact that he's hard of hearing is precisely why she raised her voice. Further, we aren't discussing turning and saying something under questioning. There was no question pending, he was not sitting on the stand, and what he was doing could have been construed as addressing a juror directly. Those things cannot happen and if they do the entire case can be appealed and all the months of work go out the window. The judge was trying to protect the court room and the case. Frankly, with the manner that the witness spoke over her, some judges would have been far more harsh.

People aren't used to it because he's for starters an older man, probably not used to being on a stand so this might be his way of talking to people (telling stories) because he's older. I think he's been the best witness so far. People wanted to know what Nic was like, well he gave to us in detail. If he does it can lead to alot of other issues that delay the proceedings. It could potentially even lead to the removal of a Jury member. He also can't start a demonstration wherever he wants. Just because he's old doesn't mean he can't wait for instruction. I get he's excited and probably nervous but he's already been through Depositions with the defense lawyers so he's been briefed on how to act in court and what to do.

You just can't let a witness go off the rails and do things that could potentially lead to an appeal, mistrial or the removal of a Jury member. I'm sure he's a sweet old guy that only wanted to tell a story the best way he could to help but he repeatedly walked right up to the line of what could cause problems for the entire hearing. Even answering a question he was asked but answering it with a long descriptive version that includes irrelevant information or varies from the answer he gave in his Deposition is potentially a big problem. I'm sure he's great telling stories by a campfire but he is exactly the type of witness Judges and Attorneys hate. He'll either give amazing testimony that wins a case or he'll cause a mistrial. They only decide if they like him after the case.

His wife and kids grew weary of his stories, told over and over until they knew every word & gesture, rolling their eyes when he wasn't looking. They were busy and didn't give him the attention he craved.
