Words can't express how much pain I feel for these poor families. I echo the the thoughts of so many that have already said that this is not justice. If there ever was a case for the death penalty this is it. There is no factor that should out weigh the heinous nature of these crimes. None. This man's point that many people have hard times growing up and still do not chose to take out their internal anger on others should stand out to all. If a mother smoking cigarettes and using drugs and alcohol while pregnant causes you to want to murder people then there would be countless mass shooting all the time. It was used as a convient excuse and that to me is disgusting. My heart goes out to the families, relatives, friends and the entire Parkland community in general.

Being subjected to cigarettes, drugs and alcohol in a womb does do damage.
Nikolas had problems with verbalising his feelings, he could not put his feelings into words, that causes him to bottle emotion, that bottled emotion boiled over when his mother died, he didn't know how to deal with that emotion.
He had been expelled from school, so many negative situations happened to Nik in the year before the shooting.
It becomes a Fight or Flight situation.
Nik chose to Fight it, notice how he places the weapon down and walks out.
The problem in his emotional being had been sorted.
The big problem with this case is that the FBI knew of his intentions 2 days before the shooting and did nothing.
Why are firearm licences being given to mentally challenged individuals, so many failings by psychologists, Social care and the Broward County Police Department, why should Nik pay for their failings?

@@flbeblue1423 it was 11-1 initially, after a night to sleep on it, 2 others agreed with her. Now all aspiring school shooters can be assured they can kill, and still live.
I doubt he will live a long life in prison, and I'm sure his end won't be without suffering, as the death penalty would have.

I wonder if there's some arcane law in Florida that would allow the prosecution to file for a motion to dismiss the juries decision? If one even exists.

I just want to say that this man is very eloquent speaker in the midst of circumstances so awful. I don’t know if I believe in the death penalty or not, but I would never be able to look the families in the face after this. I would struggle with the decision but I’d try to bring some peace to these destroyed families. I don’t think I could agree with the prosecution on everything and then spare the murder. I can’t stop thinking about these kids and the way they were hunted and slaughtered. It’s just God awful.

This father was absolutely right about one message indeed: people had tough times growing up; school systems failed on them; they were on the virtue to try and make up for a bad situation. But absolutely right about not going into a school with a gun to shoot innocent lives and to have make wrong decisions for all the wrong reasons!

My heart breaks for all of these families. Nothing hurts worse than losing a child. My brother lost his daughter, my niece and his pain is as bad now years later as the first day . The teachers and children should have felt some sort of justice. I was shocked he didn't get the death penalty. Why does it exist if not for times like this to stop future school shootings?

My heart breaks after watching family after family wanting one thing and getting another......I feel like in cases like these, they should verify the parents and kids that are still alive that went through this, as well as families that lost their loved ones should get sent a ballot and they cast a vote Life/ death and then the judge tallys them up and whatever THEY vote for, is what the guilty gets.
I hope they are able to find some sort of healthy way to live day after day. So many lives changed for generations ...
