Not at all at the same level, but I also play tennis and this already happened to me, so I understand that. But, why does the umpire get involved in that ? Making double faults or serving underarm is not forbidden by the rules and the umpîre sees that Sabalenka does her best and surely doesn't miss on purpose. Pro tournaments need to use Hawkeye Live AND video replay for double bounces. It amazes me that as spectators we can see multiple replays within seconds of something happening live, and this is anywhere in the world, but the officials that are right there and local are unable to access the exact same material? Incredible. In the time it takes for a player to complain and get a supervisor to the court, the on court umpire could have reviewed the action using a monitor on the chair, on the big screen for the spectators, or, maybe use their own smartphone to see the same replay we do.
    In this modern age when literally EVERY spectator has access to a smartphone, the fact that umpires cant use this technology is just criminal.
    Is anyone surprised when players get upset at the officials?

    I feel like so many refs don't know how to properly explain things. They're right, but their ability to explain themselves concisely is terrible. Perhaps it's due to English not being a first language in many cases, but at the same time you should know how to explain rules and regulations better than anyone.
    Also, the ref stand should have a monitor with audio that can show replays of points with sound to check the timing of things or see something that was initially missed.

    • @einarsd4
      @einarsd4 2 года назад +1

      English is 2nd biggest language in the world. This umpire wasn't able to explain his case, because he didn't had any. Maria Sakkari was destroying that umpire with true facts about tennis rules. It was easy for her. Bachi never had any point in this argument. He was badly losing to Sakkari in that argument. That umpire clearly didn't know when the ball counts as dead. He clearly had no clue that ball counts as dead when after the first bounce ball wasn't returned or if after the first bounce it is impossible to return the ball back. In this case Sakkari made forehand ball bounced out of Merten's reach and point was over since it was impossible for a point to continue. Which means that point goes to Sakkari.

    • @parkercrossland410
      @parkercrossland410 8 месяцев назад

      @@einarsd4 It only becomes dead upon its second bounce. If it hasn't bounced twice, the point is still live. It does not matter if the other player would physically not be capable of getting there. If it did then there would be exposure to a judgement call of timing, which is not good within a sport that wants to be taken seriously.

    • @einarsd4
      @einarsd4 8 месяцев назад

      @@parkercrossland410 You just proved how clueless about tennis rules you are. It does matter you clown. You it seems don't know what is winner. A winner is any shot that can't be physically returned and is within singles court. Maria Sakkari was completely correct. Her shot was a winner. If a shot can't be returned then a ball is dead and point ends. Point continues as long as the ball can be returned back. The first shot that can't be returned ends the point. Now you understand or I am too smart for you?

    Question to the tennis experts, why do tennis players tend to get away with the abuse they make towards the umpire and line officials. It’s like tennis attracts diva athletes. In other sports you get penalized heavy for that. Just recently what zverev did to that umpire. The rules need to be strict.
