If that happened she may have learnt a plan b, instead of just hitting the ball as hard as she can every point, even when she is missing. Zero tennis intelligence.

    I love that whole Ostapanko vs Sakari moment. O called S a F-ing B, the ref gets called, O doesn't deny it, just keeps her mouth shut and somehow gets away with it. Then at the end of the match O apologizes to S for saying it. We're all just trying to get away with what we can, but at the end of the day, if you wrong someone, you need to apologize to them.

    McNally handled that pretty well. Despite everything, she still had enough class to want to shake Yastremska's hand after the match. And I don't think I could like Sakkari anymore, I'll definitely be rooting for her in future events.

If umpire attitude towards her will be terrible and unfair, then Ostapenko's attitude towards umpires too will be just as terrible and unfair. Jelena Ostapenko simply isn't that kind of tennis player who would allow to pathetic and cheating umpires to mess her game. She is brave enough to stand up for herself against those stupid and unfair tennis officials.

    11:58: Putinseva Another argument for why the automated line calling needs to be used in as many tournaments as possible. Regardless of whether this call was right or wrong, no one can argue with the automated line calls.

      You could argue though that having automated line calling will take personality and drama out of the game. It might be accurate but incredibly boring. Tennis needs to be as lively as possible. It's sometimes more interesting seeing how players react to controversy and gives people more of insight into their psychologies and personalities.

    It’s pretty clear Tom Sweeney made some correct and some incorrect calls. It’s also pretty clear he got annoyed and began taking sides to penalize Giorgi more. Umpires should be impartial, they shouldn’t be swaying matches in favor of one player.

    Thanks again for the videos! Love them! Dayana’s behaviour was awful as was Jelena’s but is it only me thinking the umpire was a bit harsh on Giorgi? I mean she certainly deserved some code violations but I’m not sure if she deserved all 4 and wouldn’t she have been disqualified with 4?

      @@RobRossiFan makes it even worse imo. There are two options at 17:53: either he really didn't see the ball being out by almost 20cm (which is sad) or he didn't overrule on purpose (which makes it even more sad)

    This was unusual for Yastremska, besides the MTO she doesn't really disrespect opponents. I think the crowd must have been obnoxious bc it was Caty's home town. As for the Giorgi umpire, he showed extreme bias. Something must have happened before bc that was extra unfair. Btw those balls were SO FAR OUT. I really hope that umpire gets suspended.

    Giorgi's father was right in my view. That umpire should have been replaced. So many harsh and unjustified code violations. Her father says: "This umpire has to be replaced!" And the umpire gives her a game penalty, her second of the match! And this has happened before (change of the umpire I mean). In the US Open 1979 umpire Frank Hammond was replaced after he defaulted Ilie Nastase because of time violations. In Davis Cup 1991 umpire Malcolm Huntington was replaced by Bruno Rebeuh after the obligatory break in Davis Cup after 3 sets then. Probably because of his bad decisions. So there is a history of changing the umpire.

    Well, all tennis tournaments just need hawkeye... There are so many errors in almost every match from itf, futures, challengers....
    On the other side, that will burn down all these dramas and controversials. So.. What to do? Get rid of this line refs by replacing them with hawkeye.. And make tennis a fair sport finally... Or let them doing their job, cost many times players the match and give us tje chance to see this awesome videos more and more...

      There’s barely any blatant errors honestly. Almost always when players kick off over a line call it’s a very close call and the player is convincing themselves into seeing it their way.

    Tennis umpires compared to other sports seem to have less control over players than other sports like Soccer, Basketball, Baseball. It all goes back to the days of players like John McEnroe and Jimmy Conners who got away with abusing the umpires and the modern players see that they can still do,it.

    Sweeney seemed like it was biased against Giorgi. He seemed like enjoying giving her point and game penalties. I've seen male and female players act much worse and get away with it. What a jackass. Really disgusting. I am happy that Giorgi was able to keep her composure and win this match.
