    I was at the Paire vs Anderson match, near the guy who shouted during the rally. It was a man amongst a group of French fans who clearly don't know tennis etiquette. It seemed they'd had a few too many drinks, and were really loud during play, who yelled loudly during Paire's rally after his serve. It was some guy in dreadlocks and a suit, seemed like a total tosser.

    • @sheawee

      That's awful. It's a shame to hear that. As unsporting as that is, Paire should definitely not have scream about motherfuckers from the court. You can't match bad with worse. You could see the distressed look on Gael Monfils' face as he tried to calm Paire down.

      @RubyChiang 4 года назад +47

      the ATP Cup rules details that the No.1 and No.2 players play their matches with the other country's No.1 and No.2 players respectively. So Paire had to go in and play. the tie with South Africa was because Gael had an injury and so Gilles Simon played the first match and then Paire went up against Kevin.

      Calls are overturned ONLY when there's clear evidence that the call was wrong. The problem here was that the umpire worded his decision very poorly. He said: "We don't have enough evidence to confirm the call, HOWEVER the call stands", which makes it sound like he's making an exception on the rule. If he had said "Video review didn't provide conclusive evidence to overturn the call, so the call stands" there wouldn't be any confusion.

      @Random Person I agree. Should not have been called to begin with. Players frequently erupt when foot faults get called on them, and the calls tend to be pretty rare. The reason why the video video review footage looks 'bad', is because it is high shutter speed camera to get fluent slowed down video. That is with the best slo-mo cams in the world. To make it better, they would have to have very strong lights pointed to what is being recorded. Because that is not possible during tennis (having a strong spotlight aimed at the court lines the entire time, because it would hinder the players), this is the best they can do regarding light.
    The resolution also can't be high, because slo-mo cams recording the entire rally, would need massive memory capacities. Even the best slo-mo cams in the world can only record very little time at high resolution, because it's about memory capacity.
