Why does it take so long in tennis for any trainer, doctor, or medical personnel to show up? It feels like it takes an eternity compared to other sports.
I think it might be because once medical personnel enter the court it starts all the timers for medical time out - which you only get a limited number of in a match - so they have to sort of assess whether they need to go on otherwise they could influence the game unfairly
Some of these are debatable if they are "shocking" or not. But Benneteau twisting his ankle is without a doubt shocking. It hurts just seeing that replay.
Since they included the guy hitting his own head (not an injury caused by play), I thought the most shocking ever they should include is Monica Seles being stabbed. She got stabbed just when the umpire said "Time". So officially the match has also restarted.
No kidding, I didn't see the full injury in the first view so I thought he was overexaggerating , but after they replayed it in slow motion my heart skipped a beat with how bad it looked...
Im sure that it could be really painful, but it doenst justify crying like a little lady... Cmon.. i had many injuries and never got on the floor and cryed in such way... I would call benneteau a pussy.

One thing that does come across in these clips is that medical personnel in pro tennis are extremely slow to react to a player getting injured. Most clips have the other player or the ball boy/girl standing staring at the player for a minute or two before anyone else thinks it might be a good idea to react.
i love the fact that the first time i saw that clip was in horrendous 240p and now we are able to rewatch it fullhd 60fps. maybe we´ll have it in VR in some years, who knows
Benneteau didn't only sprain his ankle in that clip. He also completely tore one ligament and damaged another in the process. Plus he also fractured his elbow and sprained his wrist in the fall ! No wonder he was screaming in pain... :(
when you twist your ankle if you just stop the swelling as much as possible it will be ok for a bit. did the same in football, played the last 10 minutes with very little pain once bandages stopping swelling. it was a high ankle sprain and i did rehab for 8 weeks. was fine in the first 10 minutes though
@@cramyt had a similar thing with my knee playing rugby. I had a micro fracture on my knee cap while playing, no pain at all and as I kept running and playing I felt completely fine. 3:11 zverev suffered almost the exact same injury yesterday in the french open. he shuffuled to his right to reach for the ball, and ended up twisting his ankle :((
Couldn't find whether Benneteau tore something, but yeah his foot looked very similar, but it came down flat and then went over. Zverev's went from toes down and went from there to the 90 degree thing. Benneteau must not have torn anything, whereas Zverev tore multiple lateral ligaments.
I've done Benneteau's one a couple of times, once really badly just stepping off a raised legde. Tore a bunch of ligaments and tendons across the top of my foot in the process and couldn't put weight on it for a week, couldn't walk without limping for probably a month. Doctor took one look at it when I turned up at A&E and said he wouldn't be surprised if it was broken. Was lucky that it wasn't. Watching Benneteau there makes me absolutely recoil, I know how bad that can be, absolute respect for trying to carry on, when I did it I couldn't find the will to even try to stand up.
I remember watching the Youzhny/Almagro match live. If memory serves, Youzhny then hit a second ball out of the court in anger but the umpire declined to give him a point penalty (presumably thinking he'd suffered enough for one night) and Almagro complained so much that he received a warning instead. It was about 2am local time and I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Replaced hip is always better than the (old) natural one. Imagine being able to build up the spine. Human body is fragile, some useful materials aren't.
The benneteau injury was disappointing cause juan monaco got injured the same way cause of the holes in the court. Djokovic and Nadal spoke so badly of the blue courts of madrid but never said anything on the fact that the monte carlo courts had holes in them that caused 2 injuries.

Julien Benneteau's twist and fall was genuinely painful to watch! Anyone who has ever torn a ligament in the ankle or leg will know just how incredibly painful it is - Can be on a par with breaking a bone. That unmade clay surface seems pretty lethal!
Sascha Zverev's injury at the French Open semi-finals 2022 was so painful to watch. I just felt his pain. I had a similar injury in 2020 by missing a step of our stairs in the house. 😢
You can see in every injury there were always one thing is sportsmanship who ever the tennis player opponent when the opponent got injured they will always go help the opponent.
Regarding Bennetau's ankle twist, was that partially because of the shoes? It seems to me that the shoes were not sliding when they should have started to slide. I would like to hear your comments.
It was because of the holes in the court. Basically the clay court was uneven and had little patches of uneven surface. I remember it because juan monaco got injured the same way in an earlier round. This was what annoyed me with Nadal and djokovic cause they were so vocal with the blue courts but didnt say anything about the bad courts of monte carlo.
I still have a skid mark on my arm from a hard court from over 35 years ago! As I was getting up, blood gushing down my arm, I still remember the voice of a player on a different court yelling “hey, you two calm down over there!”
Hang on, Benneteau does his ankle...and still tries to carry on?! Ankle-twisting was practically a hobby of mine as a kid, did both about 10 times each, and every single time I've thought I'd never walk properly again. Couldn't watch the snap itself here, I just know how it feels, you get that sickness in your stomach and the pain is unlike any other - not necessarily a worse pain, but a much different kind of pain. I can't believe he carried on. If anyone asks how much players love the sport, show them that. That's incredible.
I couldn't watch that either. Been there with a really messed up ankle...took a year to walk without limping, but I wasn't nearly as fit as these players.
Dustin very well could’ve won at least one game. But he’s such a good sport that instead of winning one game and retiring before the next round, he gave mahut the chance to keep going. Despite missing out on prize money. I’m sure the french crowd respected him very much for that and so do i
@@shadai2929 theres a lot of prize money at stake, plus he was so close to winning and knew he had a good chance of still winning the match which is always their main goal. But decided not to since he wouldn’t even be able to play. Maybe he didn’t idk but winning the match is their main goal
So disappointed number one wasn't the teenage girl who was literally stabbed in the back in a German match in the 90's. The guy who stabbed her was trying to secure the position of her opponent as number one, he also didn't get any jail time for stabbing a teenager and attempting to do it a second time before being stopped by the crowd. Her bending over last second saved her from becoming paralyzed by a centimeter or two. That should be the most shocking one in my opinion.
When i had the last moment of a crazy backpain (turned out to be 2 hernietec discs) it was just like Kuhn in the video. I couldn't scream speak or anything, too much pain
This wouldn't be in this video because it happened at Wimbledon but I remember one time, Tommy Haas served during a warm up and he slipped on a ball. His ankle swelled up like a freaking balloon.
This was uploaded on my birthday. March 13. Thanks for the upload. It happens when tennis players get injured in their lives during the game. Things happen here sometimes in the world. Once or three times in every month during the tennis season. I’m Pisces reacting to this video, those injuries were tough to recover. What I just saw a tennis player twisted that ankle so fast, that it would end a player’s career. Oof. 😑
David Goffin's eye injury is what exactly happened to me in 2022 when a hard tennis ball hit me right in my left eye....since then I have developed secondary Glaucoma where the pressure inside your eye begins to shoot beyond the limit and you need to put eye drops to keep it under control... Well the condition is lifelong but everything's going great now. But yes I still remember the night when 2 days after my accident, suddenly my eye pressure began to rise and I went crazy.....my entire left brain was in severe pain and I was looking at the clock and just hoped for the sun to rise. Had I not received proper treatment in time....I don't know what could have happened. That night is till date, the worst night of my life.
These are just like in 2013, when Boston Bruin Gregory Campbell got hit with a slapshot that broke his shin, then finished his shift. Exactly the same.

7:10 Murray looks like he's in Agassi ... in Agony ... ohmigush, sorry, but I still had to laff at this.
Regarding Bennetau's ankle twist, was that partially because of the shoes? It seems to me that the shoes were not sliding when they should have started to slide. I would like to hear your comments.
No idea
It was because of the holes in the court. Basically the clay court was uneven and had little patches of uneven surface. I remember it because juan monaco got injured the same way in an earlier round.
This was what annoyed me with Nadal and djokovic cause they were so vocal with the blue courts but didnt say anything about the bad courts of monte carlo.
I still have a skid mark on my arm from a hard court from over 35 years ago!
As I was getting up, blood gushing down my arm, I still remember the voice of a player on a different court yelling “hey, you two calm down over there!”
What happened to number 3 anyway? Cramps or a mild seizure?
Full body cramp
Zverev brought him salt, which means he just had muscle cramps.
Bennetau carried on with his body literally in shambles. What a guy
Goffin was never the same after that. He was on fire almost winning a Master 1000, but now...
17:38 Well, at least the video ended on a high note! Somehow pictured the umpire very different, before they cut to him.
Have you seen Monica getting STABBED in COURT!!
3:10 I literally screamed out loud my damn dog hopped up it was pure pandemonium !
Do you not like your dog?
@@DBtheGhost2 ??? Love my dog. Just scared the shit out of her when I screamed.
Dustin very well could’ve won at least one game. But he’s such a good sport that instead of winning one game and retiring before the next round, he gave mahut the chance to keep going. Despite missing out on prize money. I’m sure the french crowd respected him very much for that and so do i
I don't think he thought about that.
@@shadai2929 theres a lot of prize money at stake, plus he was so close to winning and knew he had a good chance of still winning the match which is always their main goal. But decided not to since he wouldn’t even be able to play. Maybe he didn’t idk but winning the match is their main goal
Player:**gets injured**
The closed:**clapping and cheering**
So disappointed number one wasn't the teenage girl who was literally stabbed in the back in a German match in the 90's. The guy who stabbed her was trying to secure the position of her opponent as number one, he also didn't get any jail time for stabbing a teenager and attempting to do it a second time before being stopped by the crowd. Her bending over last second saved her from becoming paralyzed by a centimeter or two. That should be the most shocking one in my opinion.
you're expecting people to know about the '90s...
@@ddehggial9932air-headed millennial
You are talking about Monica Seles? The time she got stabbed?
I was expecting Nicolas Almagro injury against Del Potro.
Oof. 😑
Did anyone else catch "Murray looks like he's in Agassi" at 7:11
Andy looked like he’d been hit by a sniper at 9:45
Pls update this: Zverev number 1
The racquet got revenge on Marat Safin for racquet abuse.
These are just like in 2013, when Boston Bruin Gregory Campbell got hit with a slapshot that broke his shin, then finished his shift. Exactly the same.
Shocking alright that no gloves were worn when treating bloody open wounds.
first case - they surely don't have to keep that lacoste box there - so dangerous
watching Murray's perseverance was inspirational 👏
12:21 What happened to him? I don't understand
Lamentável, o atleta ali, morrendo de dor e nenhum médico entra pra socorrer! Fala sério! Uma vergonha isso!
Oh man, the number 7 looked painful 👀
So basically tennis is an extremely safe sport LOL
4:23 they did not have to do him like that 😭😂
No 2 is relatable I have done that and it hurts hitting you head with your racket trying to stay in the point
7:10 "Murray looks like he's in Agassi"
2:50 why did it take so long for medics to arrive?
Excelentes videos!!!
