Does this give us a good lesson on how important is all the griping and whining about line calls, and just focusing on playing the match?? It's not like all these real or perceived bad calls are ending up hurting their chances at winning...

    Looking at that Tauson game, I am left wondering just how corrupt tennis is? That was obviously a corrupt chair umpire, so how far does it go?

    • @AmericasChoice
      @AmericasChoice Месяц назад

      Good question. Corruption usually follows gambling on any particular sport. I am not sure much $$$ is gambled on Tennis on a regular basis. But I am sure that big matches draw a lot of $$$ gambled. And I suspect some players have thrown matches, there was a famous case a few years ago. This match is not that important gambling wise, but it may be important enough to have private interests bribing umpires and supervisors. I have seen some shady matches over the last 50 years of playing and watching tennis. The big one that sticks in my mind was the Riggs-King match. Vegas chatter said he bet heavily on King to win...ha ha

    Umpires makina call, and when questioned they say 'I'm not sure, but I saw it (my way)'.
    If an umpire overrules, the call has to be correct.
    Umpires should get fined when they argue that they make the correct decission, and the video shows it was incorrect. Make the sport more fair, not less fair.

    • @christopherborum6551

      Yeah I have been told it in RG for example she simply lost her mind, broke the racquet then was bageled in a quarterfinal, I think she's under some big kind of pressure because US media is terrible when a very young athlete starts to win titles in high level sport and that can motivate you or fucking your mind.

  • @D_SQ

    It seems that a majority of these stem from human error from questionable line calls, which COVID and the resulting automation of line calls has solved, most notably, in the US Open. I know line judges potentially lose their jobs, and that's never good, but I would be very surprised if they brought line judges back in big tournaments.

      @@CL-jy4vd i disagree. Jabeur hit the shot and the then took two steps while holding her arm up challenging the ball. I don´t see how she could make it clearer she was challenging the call. However from these images, i can still not tell if its in though.

    that coco gauff situation was bs anyway. women players want equal pay, and yet 1) they only play best of 3 at slams, and 2) they can get on court coaching. whereas if there is interaction between male player and coach, he gets a violation. you can't have your cake and eat it. if it is equal then it equal to both sexes
