tbh unless you're interested in the speedrun they seem generally pretty bad especially when you have the console games to compare against. They were surely nice back in the day (and admittedly i'm saying this having only played Lego Star Wars 2 on DS, which is hopefully uniquely terrible) but nowadays it's a curiosity at best.
And with this video I discovered that Lego Batman for DS has much more characters and new abilites for them than the console one, i mean, why Harley Quinn doesn't have her hammer in the console version
Hey man this video is great, but if I could make a recommendation for future videos you might wanna adjust the audio levels of the background music a bit. Makes it hard to hear your voice at points, even if the songs are all fitting.
Its a shame that this game has such an incredible roster, while half of the console versions roster is made up of police guys… And the abiltys are so much better too, Consol Scarecrow doesmt even have Toxin immunity.
The Scarecrow in the console version doesn't have toxic immunity because in the level "The Joker's Masterpiece" there are certain puzzles that would be pointless if both characters had immunity. Also it wouldn't make sense anyway because the fear toxin that the Scarecrow uses is not the same as the toxic gas and waste.
@@SeriousRyno I know, but tbh you could create puzzles where you combine toxin immunity with mind control and or the buzzer, or just leave toxin immunity out of this level. A surprise for the commissioner also has no puzzles with that ability. And I’m saying scarecrow should be immune because he usually has a gas mask integrated into his costume and that should be more than enough reason when Two Face can bath in the toxic waste although he only got acid thrown to his face
@@SeriousRyno Nah you‘re right with what you said, they never gave a sub villain the same ability as the main villain in this game, only when you dont play as them (Man Bat and Penguin both glide). Maybe the best thing would have been, if they gave us the Mad Hatter level in the villains campaign and only made the vehicle level with scarecrow.
@@GreenNinj4 Another funny side effect of The Joker's Masterpiece is at the beginning of the level both characters fall through the glass at the top and The Joker lands flat on his back and The Scarecrow lands flat on his front. That in itself doesn't matter but both characters now have the really bad non double jump where if you press A after jumping both characters will fall flat and be stunned for a second before getting back up. I believe they are the only characters in the game that do this and it was all to make them not land on their feet at the start of the level.
Oh my God this video was perfect! And it also came out at the perfect time! I scavenged the internet but couldn’t find a comprehensive list of what all the characters in LBMDS do, so I was going to play the game at some point to find out Thank you for saving my time
The DS versions of Lego Batman 1 and 2, Indiana Jones 1 and 2, Lego Star Wars TCS, Lego Chima, Lego Harry Potter 1-4 and 5-7 and Lego Star Wars 3 were all my first experiences playing any of these games. They shaped and defined a huge part of my childhood. Now that I'm much older (and have money), I've been able to play the definitive versions of each game, and while they're all great, I vastly prefer the DS versions for the sake of nostalgia.
@@Phoenix-lq9bm that's how I first played them as well - even when I was pretty young I always preferred these versions so just stuck with them when trying out speedrunning, goated games tbh

Really good, if I had to say anything is that maybe breaking ties based on character design might help (but at the same time, it'd probably just be needless padding) Lego Batman DS is underrated ^_^
Ah good catch - they do kill in two shots rather than four so should be slightly higher, only a placement or two above tho so it's not too significant thankfully
