Does LEGO DC even have a future?
I hope we get sets for Superman next year.
I would think Lego DC would be continue , but probably be released in simple and minimal set so to played it safe and not to lose money much .
Lego Superman, yes. but until we get more of an expanded universe, we're gonna have to wait and hope for the best.
Lego dc comics is end
No
My one problem with LEGO and there obsession with Batman is how they refuse to put any other hero in a Batman set. Like do they think if they make a Batmobile set that has Batman and Superman in it, it will sell less than a Batmobile set with only Batman in it. It just doesn’t make sense to me
The problem is, they do sell less.
This isn’t even a Lego exclusive issue. It’s more so Warner’s obsession with Batman. Take McFarlane’s DC Multiverse - people literally have to BEG to get characters other than the 675th variation of Batman. For context - the line started in 2020 and it took them 4 years to make a classic Wonder Woman (part of that is Todd’s fault, but still)
it would be nice if they even included robin for once lol
@@CyberAlexMM who’d a thought that Jim Lee, the same guy who built a bronze Batman statue outside of DC HQ, would play favorites for Batsy?
@@night6724 Jim Lee has nothing to do with this - it’s Warner’s executives who fucked every other character up overutilizing him
I'd say that Lego DC from 2006-2016 was quite good. I also do like the Justice League sets and some DC sets from 2018. I also do enjoy the 2019 Batman sets a lot. But after that, Lego DC really went downhill. I miss those years of getting fun, comic book sets with characters like The Flash and Green Lantern, even if most of them had Batman.
Why the heck did DC not make more sets with Green Lantern? You have a character who can generate his own structures and weapons, literally HUNDREDS of lanterns of all shapes and sizes, 7 corps of varying vibrant colors and tons of potential aliens? I guess an issue could be the redundancy of using green and yellow but it is still insanely toyetic. It’s kind of surprising DC has never capitalized on the merchandising potential of Green Lantern. Like Lantern should easily surpass Spiderman in terms of merchandise numbers
The original LEGO Batman theme and the DC Superheroes theme from like 2012ish were amazing. They always remind me of the first and second LEGO Batman games (some of my favorite games ever) and fill me with so much nostalgia.
It's a shame what happened after that once the DCEU became a thing and ruined it all. I really hope that the theme can recover. Doing sets based on The Animated Series and Batman Beyond would be a great start. Same with making sets from all of the movies outside of the DCEU.
kinda agree
They're doing Batman Beyond?! Where???!!!
@@truexfan001 No sorry, I should have worded it differently. I meant to say "would be a great start". My bad.
Imagine if they did a full Arkham Asylum building set like Daily Bugle, with minifigs of Batfam and multiple villains.
That’s the dream
I’d be in heaven. Just imagine. Lego Watchtower, Lego Hall of Justice. Hell, Lego Titans Tower. The possibilities are infinite!
@@matthewnuss3053 Too bad none of its gonna happen anytime soon. The closest stuff we got was the Batman Returns set and BTAS set
I just wish we had more faith in Green Lantern. He's my favorite DC character, and DC has used the laws of the rings n stuff to form their universe. If we got a Brightest day esque film the merchandising would be off the charts, Green Lantern was made for LEGO!!!
Honest, if Lego and Dc were to make new sets based on Wonder woman, Superman and the Flash and their villains for a few sets, then both companies would be able to see some success. I mean the colorful foes of the Flash and even a giant Giganta vs Wonder Woman fight and a Superman vs his foes sets would be an amazing thing to see.
That sounds like a great idea. I would love to see LEGO do something similar to what they've done back in 2015, where they have made sets based on other DC characters and their rouge gallery besides Batman.
It's a shame there probably won't be Superman: Legacy sets. Knowing James Gunn, there is a huge chance there'll be pretty cool looking setpieces, machinery or vehicles that would make for great sets (look at the GotG lines).
I’m more upset James Gunn is starting with Superman again there’s literally no point in that. Probably the worst decision ever. the movies should focus on just Batman now. Since they ruined the franchise. The movies wasted all the potential of everyone in the justice league except Batman. Recasting is the worst decision especially when all the dceu actors where actually great for there characters. The dc is over imo, at least we still have the dark knight trilogy, and original Batman movies. Also the animated series. And the Batman noir series coming to prime later this year.
I hope we atleast just get one or two for the fact of of it being superman.
@@GassedFEIN Restarting with batman makes no sense when they were already making a Robert Pattinson Batman sequel... There are so many cool characters in DC with great individual stories which would translate well into film, I trust James Gunn to set it up well as his character interactions were the best part of his Superhero movies so far.
GOTG had awful sets and vehicles. He had some of the worst ships i’ve seen in sci-fi movies
@@abovethehighgroundWhy do you trust James Gunn? He is a horrible director who makes terrible movies and are nothing like the source material. I’ve never seen a more overrated director than Gunn. The GOTg act nothing like the source material, The Suicide Squad was as accurate as Suicide Squad and was still a bad movie.
If Warner Bros hadn't rushed their cinematic universe they wouldn't be in this position. They didn't need to play catch up with Marvel. Which is why their future with Lego is non-existent now.
100%
they didn’t play catch up with marvel.

I never understood WHY LEGO NEVER DID ANY SETS about the Arrowverse(despite the lego games constantly featured characters & vehicles from it),considering its great succeed during the 2010's & being what got a new generation to DC comics, but they did TON for the corpse that was DCEU post 2018
Probably because it’s too adult and not very toyetic. Green Arrow didn’t use a ton of gadgets in the series and the suits were generally pretty terrible and colorless. Flash may have faired better but not by much

1. Dude, Flash & Supergirl AIRED ON CARTOON NETWORK at some point, & as I said, they were the 1°introduction to DC for a lot of people
2. ¿what do you mean they aren't Toyetic? Isn't the main gimmick of Oliver on that show his Trick Arrows & the insane amounts of vehicles he gets in that show, not mention the insane amount of iconic sets like the Quiver, the Star Labs, the Particle Accelerator, etc.
Besides, Lego made sets of The Batman 2022, Ant-Man 2015, Dr. Strange & The Marvels, and said projects weren't toyetic aswell
3. Obviously nowdays would be a waste because aside from Arrow, Constantine and Superman &Lois, the arrowverse projects are no longer well recieved by audiences, like, flash & supergirl have become the lolcows of YT critics
4. There's also the fact that the Lego Games include a lot of Lego Versions of the Arrowverse characters & vehicles
It's a shame Lego never made Arrowverse sets back when it was a thing. I get that wasn't very toyetic, but at least a set or two based on each show probably would have sold decently.
They made some characters as SDCC figs
@@haydentcem True. But those are extremely expensive.
Imo, Lego would've been 1,000,000x better off trying to do sets based off of *only* the comics and animated shows, not the DCEU and Batman only stuff
The problem is there are lots of Batman in the DC in LEGO
The way I see it's the other way around lego makes too much batman cause nobody buys the other sets
@@MyBrickOpinions Well, that's a kind of issue with WB and DC in general, not giving people who aren't Batman the time to shine.
@@Person-wz6iy I agree, though that is slowly changing with the new movies being worked on by James Gunn (second DC movie will be a Supergirl movie), so hopefully they succeed and lego includes new characters.
Lego would've made non batman sets if it wasn't for the DC's failed projects
I guess Lego should just make sets based off of the DC comics with tons of different characters
Apparently the Incredibles 2 sets, are also part of the Super Heroes theme, according to Wikipedia. And since Disney said they're gonna be doing a mix of Sequels and originals, and that the Incredibles 3 is rumoured to be in development, I hope that if we do.get Incredibles 3, that the sets aren't just 4+, since most of the Lightyear sets weren't 4+.
Apparently the Incredibles 3 movie had so much cast quit, their heavily trying to make ai shit, it scares me.

I’m really hoping we get sets for Superman Legacy. I want an official Lego Mr Terrific
9:38 No way that's so cool.
If only my stores kept Lego sets from previous years that didn't sell well.
My local Barnes and Noble used to have basically the entire theme of Legends of Chima back in the summer of 2016. But they got rid of it a few months later. They really should've kept them up.
It's insane that Lego was actually willing to make characters beyong the world of Batman for a set dedicated to The Flash movie (albiet, still mostly a Batman set), but Ezra Miller had to ruin it...
Hope we can still get the Sasha Calle Supergirl fig one day in a polybag or something.
Its sad because I want to use minifigures in a Lego DC city; but everythings expensive as hell. If they dropped great non-batman sets, or even ones including villians from Batman we dont typically see, id snag them like hell. But yea, not looking like it now. What i can see is, if Superman is a hit, then another film is released, and then Batman the Brave and The Bold, we might slowly see an uproar in sets - however, i think well only ever get more dc sets for movies if superman and some of its following ones are hits (barman the brave and the bold will likely still get tie in sets tho)
Marvel is dead too but we still get plenty of sets. DC has years of comics to base sets on besides Batman. It’s a shame.
Wonder if we’ll get some Superman: Legacy sets or new Superman sets in general. He deserves his own line too.
Marvel ain't dead. lol
@@wellmeetagain3800Movie-wise, Marvel is dead. Think about the Marvel movies since Endgame.
Spider-Man: Far from Home is bad, Black Widow is bad, Shang-Chi is mid, Eternals is trash, Doctor Strange 2 is trash, Thor Love and Thunder is trash, Black Panther 2 is mid, Ant-Man 3 is terrible, and The Marvels is awful.
There have only been 2 good Marvel movies since Endgame: Spider-Man No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. When only 2 out of your last 11 movies are quality (18%), your franchise is dead.

Not gonna lie it was kinda a missed opportunity that we didn’t any Lego sets for Shazam Fury of The Gods, yeah the movie itself was mediocre but it would have been at least cool to have Lego sets of greek mythology monsters.
Let's be real the DCEU pretty much killed DC in general that's how bad it was.
Honestly, given how bad superhero movies are these days, Lego would be much better off just making new DC sets based on the old stuff people actually like and the comics. Those were usually their best sets in the past anyway. They are smart not to risk their brand on the current state of Hollywood, which is, by all accounts, in terminal decline.
Kids still like superhero stuff, so just make some more original sets, featuring comic versions of the characters. If they have to put Batman in every set, so be it, but at least go back to putting other DC characters in with those sets again. Also, make a new Lego Batman game and that would help boost sales enormously. Lego DC Villains was excellent, and they did almost nothing to capitalize off of that.
Sadly, if (when) the new Superman film flops, I expect that Lego will give up on any non-Batman DC sets entirely, on the assumption that kids don't care about any other DC characters anymore. I don't think that's true, but, without good adaptations to get new fans into them, it won't translate into the kind of massive toy sales that Lego are looking for. Kids that do get introduced to these characters, will probably do so through their parents showing them the older stuff they liked as kids. That's partially why they're making safe sets based on The Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman 89, and BTAS. If we're lucky, that may eventually result in some more Justice League Animated Series sets, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It's a shame, because I always thought the majority of the DC sets were better than the Marvel ones, until recent years, when they really stepped up their game with Marvel.
Id like to point out that the dark knight rises did have a set. It was the tumbler and the bat. It had gordan, batman, and bane in it
Did it release in 2012? Nope
@MyBrickOpinions no but you said no dark knight rises sets were made at all. Also the 2008 tumbler is technically a dark knight set
I said no sets were made to tie in with the movie
Finally someone talking about the real issues
It's awesome how both you and pen made a video on this, and nick 6 months back.
Hope that means we're getting more dc sets.
wb just messes everything up. dc was doing so good with lego from 2006 all the way to atleast 2018. after that they fell off hard.
yeah it has started to recover a bit with the new batman sets but it is a shadow of it's former self. the only set lego dc got in 2023 was a 4+ harley and batman set.
All I’m asking for is LEGO Batman 4 (or 5 if we count LEGO DC Super-Villains as the fourth game). If new movies can’t carry the brand, why not a really solid video game?
Bro I thought he was going to say “BUT THATS JUST A THEORY A LEGO THEORY” at the end
This is all very sad, especially as someone who loves the early DCEU/Snyderverse, having Man of Steel as my favorite movie, and grew up with Lego.
I do hope they expand the theme to the entire DC brand again instead of relying on Batman in the future.
(I personally would love a 18+ set based on Zack Snyder's Justice League, or even a normal wave but with each set based on multiple animated shows new and old, like Young Justice, My Adventures with Superman, Green Lantern Animated Series, and even both DCAU continuities)
An 18+ set dedicated to ZSJL would be a dream come true!
And I know the DCEU isn’t as profitable as the MCU, but I would have hoped for a line dedicated to remaking some of those older sets or making new sets dedicated to at least some of the older movies (like how the MCU did with the Infinity Saga sets).
I don't know why they focused solely on the DCEU Lego used to make general DC sets so i don't know why they didn't go back to that upon the movie franchises failures.
The older sets based on DC comics/a variety of DC Characters. I hate how LEGO DC is just Batman now and its sad.
Try to collect DCEU BvS and JL sets now as DC fan but I didn't know there were Wonder Woman and Aquaman sets and Shazam poly bag
Do you plan on making a Superman LEGO Ideas set?
not for ideas but definitely something
@@MyBrickOpinions You want there to be more non-Batman DC sets, right?
To be fair Lego did release a classic aquaman vs Mr freeze set at the same time as the aquaman JL Lego set so it kind of stole those customers haha. I remember being a kid and holding them side by side and going with the classic
Okay but lego made roughly 40 sets, most of which were large for the lego batman movie. Over 50% of which went on clearance.
The Batman movie is not the point, that brought its own sense of problems
I don’t doubt the information but where did you get the information on mega blocks outselling them 2004.

If I ever do an action figure channel I can make it
Let's just hope 2025's Superman become a Box Office success and earned a profitable Lego sets for the film.
I don’t blame Lego, personally I think the nostalgic Batman sets have been some of the best dc sets since the 2012 wave.
Oh I’m not blaming lego at all, don’t misunderstand my argument, lego is doing what they find to be the most viable solution, it’s completely respectable, and the product is great, my point is DC failed to establish itself as reliable brand kids are attracted to, and now dc as a whole might not have a future.
@@MyBrickOpinions i definitely agree with dc failed ,and yeah dc might not have a future. It hurts me and I’m sure it hurts you as a dc fan. Personally with Lego I don’t mind going back to Batman sets, cause I missed the 2006 wave, and don’t have any of those sets, but always thought they were the best sets. I do still wish they’d make other dc figs and sets, even remaking some of the dceu sets. I think it’s just hard to be a dc fan, especially now, unless it’s Batman, because he is the one character they usually get right.
I always liked the more comic inspired sets for both marvel and DC. Here's hoping the upcoming DC movies revive Lego's interest in the dc superheroes line, I really wanna see some superman sets when that movie comes out
I wish the Snyderverse had a chance frr. Let’s hope Gunn does his magic and revive some Lego DC

It doesn't help that current toyetic DC content is in a drought. There is 1 show and it is not great.

I liked what your talking about today with Lego DC .
I do feel bad for Lego DC because most of their sets looks great . However , due many outside factored it couldn't not controlled and even it's own lego company also played part of it as well , The Lego DC suffer from it as years goes on .
While i do see Lego DC would still continue in the future , i think Lego would played it safe and mostly released simple and minimal set of DC stuff .
But they're literally making a Lego Batman game in 2024? Huh?

Hi, Batman.
Hi, Batman. I'm Batman.

I really hope we get a least 2 sets for Superman, I trust James Gunn to make some cool vehicle designs and with other heroes in the film it would a shame to see the opportunity go to waste
BvS didn't have box office disappointment and it was massively successful even with the botched theatrical release lol
A movie with Batman and Superman 2 of the 3 most iconic heroes ever did to not make 1 billion dollars I’d call that a disappointment, I never implied it wasn’t profitable, but your telling me guardians of the galaxy vol 1 (at the time a bunch of c lost characters) made almost 800 million, but BATMAN AND SUPERMAN couldn’t even get to 900 million. That’s disappointing, not unsuccessful, but disappointing
@@MyBrickOpinions bvs made 110 million dollars more than gotg and made a lot more profit from home video sales. the way you say ''almost'' for gotg and ''not even'' for bvs for the same amount of difference in money seems a little biased wouldn't you say?

There could’ve been a Lego Justice League Movie
Lego should never be a movie tie in, they should be adaptations of these franchises not just "this but as lego"
Lego Batman should just be batman, not DCEU or whatever else version of batman. Besides maybe just variations for collections.

@@MyBrickOpinions Yeah same, he said that they always planned to start when they did so the process wasn’t affected
Well done video
This is wrong. It was The Lego Batman movie over saturating the market with over 2x as many DC sets that ended up killing Lego DC. There's an excellent video detailing this here on RUclips.
Edit: You stated that the Lego Batman 2008 sets did not get any representation in the first video game. This isnt true because all of the villain vehicles and designs appear in that game, including Joker's ice cream truck and Harley's hammer truck. These vehicles having smaller roles in the game likely has to do with the game being in development well before 2008.
The lego Batman movie definitely played a role, but the lego Batman movie was just a result of the problem, not the problem or the solution, I’m guessing you’re referring to my friend Pen’s video. But the way I see the problem is DC can’t sell any brand aside from Batman, cause when they tried they failed. And the DCEU being unable to create demand for characters like, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the flash is the problem, cause now lego only views DC as the Batman machine, unlike marvel thta has multiple successful lines, from avengers, to spiderman, to the guardians, etc. while it is true the lego Batman movie over saturated the market WITH BATMAN VEHICLES that doesn’t explain why we’re still only getting Batman vehicles.

LEGO DC is fine...it did great with The Batman

Yeah its safe to say that recently DC has been producing shit but, hopefully with these upcoming films they knock it out of the park hopefully.
Subtitles are wrong half the time.
Example?
I mean... they don't have to do sets based on movies. They can make sets based on comics like 2015 wave for example🤷♂️
I think you didn’t get the point, the movies killed the brand, comics sets used to sell, even though they weren’t based on the movies but there was content around pushing the characters and creating a demand for them, now there’s nothing pushing the characters, yeah lego can make a wave of sets based on Superman comic characters, 7 year old who have not seen a Superman show or movie won’t know who these characters are and won’t be inclined to buy them, and that’s the problem, the movies failed to make the characters popular. And now the only thing that sells is Batman
