    I love these sets, and personally, I think that we didn't get enough of these and I think that it could have been greater if they continued it. I think if they wanted to discontinue it they could have made it public. They instead kind of just chose to quietly discontinue it and that's the buggy part. What's worse is that I remember the days where Mcfarlane toys developers and designers would say that they couldn't do without releasing a wave every toyfair, and how the sets were the most, if not one of the most best selling construction lines of all their history. I think the last wave was just them trying something new, and it did feel the most lackluster of all 6 waves, but I didn't mind and maybe I think if there was a Wave 7 they could have finished with the sets from games they never finished, like Sister Location, FNAF 3, and A couple of characters from 2 like JJ and Endo 02, and Jack-O-Bonnie/Chica. But instead, here we are...

    I got a few. The Scooping Room was one of the last things I bought from Toys R us. It is a shame, but I think other lines are to blame for the failure of the FNAF line. I got a Pearl McFarlane and her legs were too weak.
    I wouldn't mind a comeback. I do have a few of their Cuphead ones too. And I'm trying to get the original four for South Park.

    • @MyBrickOpinions
      @MyBrickOpinions  10 месяцев назад +15

      I don’t think you know how licenses work bud, a company doesn’t lose a license, they have the rights to a license for a determined amount of years and as the license holder they can choose to not renew it when the contract is over or another company can buy out their contract and take the license from them, because McFarland silently cancelled the line and it takes 2 years to make product, we can deduce that mcfarlane cancelled the line in 2018 or early 2019, since they didn’t make any product pass 2020 and 2021 sets should’ve started development by 2019 in order to make their release deadline in 2021.
      Now from what little information I could find cause mcfarlane is a private company and they do not disclose sales numbers, the entire mcfarlane building line was failing and a lot of stores stop selling them as a hole, meaning fewer sets were produced and that’s why their so expensive, since only vast quantities exist.

While the agreement is for a set time frame, the original owner e.g. Scott Cawthon can choose not to renew the agreement as well. Thus the person who originally bought the license can lose it.

    I remember seeing these sets as they came out, but the reasons I never got them was 1. Didn't have the money 2. My interest in brick sets had diminished by this point after years being really into LEGO, but also 3. I just didn't like the textured look of everything. Like, yeah, it's all very detailed but one thing I like about brick sets is being able to take them apart and make other stuff. If most of the pieces are textured or have some very specific purpose, then I'm not going to be as interested if the parts don't look as flexible in their use.
    Of course, that's probably just a me thing. Still, money was a major factor for me too. Even LEGO was always very expensive to me.

    • @MyBrickOpinions

    I used to collect these little sets years ago, I haven't bought any of them in a long time. They were a little more fragile than Lego in a way and they weren't the best quality in terms of plastic. But the details and texturing are really good on both the builds and figures.

  • @beepityboop3740
    @beepityboop3740 10 месяцев назад +9

    used to try and collect alot of these back when they released. they were awesome to have but i still think they had issues, boiling down to quality and pricing.
    aftermarket was hell looking for ones you wanted specifically, so if u didnt get it out in thw wild, u were kinda screwed. and 10-15 base price for basically a polybag didnt help.
    the lack of polish on some didnt help either. alot of them had this kind of chalky feel, while some were hard to stick onto their stages. build quality with circus control wasnt the best either.
    that being said tho, i do miss them. the oversaturation of fnaf at the time didnt help them at all.

  • @kamenhunter167

    My theory as to why there are no more construction sets is because when the RUclipsr Puppet Steve interviewed the person who makes these sets he said that he works with Scott to make these.
    So I assume the reason they don't make these anymore might have something to do with Scotts retirement but I can't be for certain since neither Scott or McFarlane toys have not said anything about this.

  • @Eli-as12

    I would say, when it came to the building blocks like Mega Blok/Construx and Kre-o, they all missed a big thing when it came to these sets, which is limited imagination.
    Hear me out.
    From what was done, McFarlane based their sets on what already existed, in turn limiting what they can do. Same with other building block brands other than Lego, when it came to licensed set, they all encountered the same problem, they limit themselves to what is given to them, not to the potential they can have.
    Of course there are properties that are limited like Call of Duty, but TMNT and Transformers have a lot of potential, but the makers focused on making building block sets mainly to make building block sets, the potential became lost because they limited themselves to what they have on hand and not on what they can achieve.

    I am a LEGO fan who also really loves the FNAF franchise, so, of course, I love the idea of an FNAF-based construction line. But, as much as I appreciate the health and dedication McFarlane poured on these sets... I see no appeal to the products. Honestly, the sets look really ugly and so are the characters.
    The amount of detail they had to put in that tight space, while admirable, made the whole thing look like it was handmade, and not in a good way. I can not help but think that they look like they were made out of wax. Especially since the line work doesn't look that great either. And some details are, for me personally, unnecessary. Like why do they need normal hands instead of basic claw hands (that's probably because LEGO has the rights to the shape of the Minifigure). The same goes for the set themselves. The pieces are way too specialized to the point that they feel like it doesn't belong there. One thing that I like about LEGO is when I find a really clever technique to achieve the shape of an object, which I don't see here. Again! Great attention to detail, but the scale makes them look messy.
    Maybe that's just how my brain works after having over a decade of experience with LEGO and my mind is too set on how things should be.

    The main problem icy is that they’re really isn’t anything to base build on, like of course you have your outliers like the pirates Cove or the show stage but after that…… there’s really nothing. (at least before security breach.) instead of building sets this will need something more like Lego blind bags. Because that way you can make whatever character you want really from whatever game and just throw it in the bag, the only thing we would lose in the scenario is the builds and let’s be honest, absolutely NO one was buying those sets for the builds

      @@MyBrickOpinions I agree. They’re only valuable because they’re discontinued and most kids don’t still have theirs put together. So there’s not many in box left and not even many with all the pieces left out of the box. So you’re completely right that they failed but I still stand that the lucky few (including me) who picked these up, have something almost rare now. Heck look at funko fnaf figures, no not the big ones the size of your whole hand. The small ones in sets of 4. Those are discontinued a long time ago and go RIDICULOUS now too. For example I’ve actually seen the two boxes of figures I have (both of the funko fnaf series ONE small action figures) both new in box together, sold for 90$ I paid MAYBE 30 for both bought separately new total. So yes, good video and you proved me wrong there. But the second half of what I said is still true and cool to me. But you seemed to like the sets when you talked about them at the start of the video too! If that’s true I agree if you think a company should start doing it again, maybe don’t exclusively sell the sets at GameStop, that’s a start XD. Obscure failed lines become rare and expensive over time when years later demand increases, that's the point of the video, the line ended too soon, a few years before it could've found it's peak and now it's all over priced when the demand is higher than ever.

      I rarely saw them in stores in the first place. Just the ones I mentioned getting in my reply to the pinned comment, and Molten Freddy. Supply was _always_ low.

    I was only able to get like... 3 sets. I wanted the show stage but couldn't due to me living in the UK. I also stopped buying due to the price. Same with LEGO tbh
    Soon I heard Mcfarlane actually started making DC figures (I'm obsessed with Batman and all things DC) and that's my main catch. It's still hard to believe these sets came from these guys...

    I just want to point out that the character you called “jumpscare Funtime Freddy” is actually Yendo. Also, shadow Bonnie has 2 names. One long word scramble and a three letter one, I think you were trying to do the short one but did the first three letters of the long one, as his short name is RXQ. Hope this helps.

    You’re the first person I’ve seen who called HZD a violent franchise in the context of it getting a LEGO theme but you’re not wrong when you think about it since it’s the only game series they’ve adapted and only series overall (other than Stranger Things) that they’ve adapted that’s rated MA15+ in Australia. It’s certainly appropriate for LEGO but there’s more violence than a lot of people seem to remember, from what I’ve played you’re killing human bad guys nearly as much as you’re killing the robots.

    • @MyBrickOpinions
      @MyBrickOpinions  10 месяцев назад

      Exactly, I find it so funny as someone who loves horizon, you kill a lot of humans in that game, yet other franchises get called too violent for lego standard, James Cameron’s Avatar as well there a good argument it’s too violent if we’re looking at Lego’s guidelines, and it’s not a dig on the sets, it’s more of a dig on Lego’s violence guidelines

    Just going to say, that you constantly referred to variants by the wrong names, and a lot of the characters in more recent sets are actually easily recognisable if you at all play the games, or even care whatsoever about the franchise.

    • @kittydemonoverkill
      @kittydemonoverkill 10 месяцев назад

      And on top of that, I can think of several characters they could've done. For example, there's the Jack-o's, JJ, Endo02, Electrobab, Bonnet, Mr. Hippo, Orville Elephant, Pigpatch, Happy Frog, Nedd Bear, Mr. Can Do, Mr. Hugs, Bucket Bob, Pan Stan, #1 Crate, Music Man, Funtime Chica, El Chip, Scraptrap, Scrap Baby, Rockstar Foxy, Candy Cadet, and more!

    • @mtvproductioning9811
      @mtvproductioning9811 10 месяцев назад

      I was thinking they could've done more too. Shutting down the sets without any message at all is just so wrong. They could have done more and it just felt too soon that we stopped getting them. Especially when they left certain game sets incomplete like FNAF 3, Sister Location, and FFPS (6). In fact, technically I could only say FNAF 4 and 1 are complete, but even then just 4 when you think about it because if you count the Dining Area and Supply Closet then FNAF 1 would still be incomplete. Like I said, there should've been so much more and there was a lot of opportunity here, so... Not sure what happened there. And well, I guess the world will never know.

    • @MyBrickOpinions
      @MyBrickOpinions  Месяц назад

      Lmao this “don’t comment on stuff you have no idea” is so toxic and dumb, dude I played the first 3 games, loved them as a child, most people my age did the same thing, my point was that that casual audience that played the games but didn’t get into the “lore” had no idea who these characters were and thus didn’t have interest in the product. People like you are the reason the fnaf Fandom sucks, don’t gatekeep content and product. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM

    • @ShayanQ
      @ShayanQ Месяц назад

      @@MyBrickOpinions I am not gatekeeping you from the fandom. It's awesome you enjoyed the first three games and are welcome in the fandom. But like calling major characters from FNAF 4 - 6 "obscure" is just annoying. Acknowledge you don't know about something instead of making blanket statements.
      I am very happy you decided to share your opinions on these sets just hoped for a more well thought out video.
      Just in the future acknowledge where you lack knowledge and cover stuff you know about.
