Quick question did any of you collect tmnt, and if you did how many sets you got?
I have all of them from 2013 and up💀💀 and MOST of the mega block ones
No I don’t own any sets myself, and really don’t know much about the theme tbh. I will say that I’m considering getting one of the sets used at one point as I think all the sets look pretty great!
Yes I collect pretty much most of 2012 tmnt
I think i have 4 but I cant find them in sweden
Little late to the party, but I just recently found a lot with 5 or 6 mostly complete LEGO TMNT sets, so I decided to go through and buy every LEGO set based on the 2012 show. I don't have any of the movie sets, but I consider my collection complete.
It's a shame because the franchise has so much potential. As someone who grew up with 2012 Turtles, I would have loved to see characters like Tiger Claw, Rahzar, Super Shredder, and a lot of locations and sets.
I would've love to seen how lego adapted Rahzar
@@MyBrickOpinions Imagine if they did 2012 Tokka
I urge you to go back and check out mega Construx TMNT. They are still amazing
Shinigami would’ve been cool too.
LEGO Fortnite did them pretty good
Real
Yeah I wish they made sets for the fortnite versions
Rest in Peace and also Happy New Year Everyone!!! ✌️💙🧡❤️💜🐢
Or pieces 😂😂😂
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

I hear you brother, it is heartbreaking that Lego didn’t continue their TMNT line. It would have been SO AMAZING to see more characters and locations from the 2012 series as it went on, getting sets and minifigures from the previous cartoons and movies, and so on. It could have really taken off the way DC or Marvel or even Harry Potter have for the company, appealing to all different kinds of age groups with different sets based on more generations of the franchise.
they needa bring it back and make the set from the 2007 where they fight golem
@@cheeseman1024 majority of the kids that would buy the tmnt sets wouldn't have even been alive in 2007 😭
@@Jeice1010 bro who doesn't love the 2007 tmnt , they should still make the sets but that fight with lord garmadon needs to be made fr fr
I will always be upset that this line failed. I was OBSESSED with the 2012 show as a kid and only ever got one set: The Turtle Lair.
I would’ve loved to see more, maybe even some based off of the 80s show or Mutant Mayhem.
Also, the sale prices are an absolute pain. Only one I’m currently missing right now is Mikey. Hopefully I can find some of the sets at Brickfest this year!
As a massive TMNT fan (especialy 2003), I'd love Lego TMNT to make a return like Lego Lord of the rings has this year. Smaller playsets for kids and a UCS set for older consumers.
LOTR didn’t get small play-sets, sadly, I think Indiana Jones would be a more apt comparison since the theme returned suddenly this year and got both a big display set for adults and small play-sets for younger fans.
yeah lego tmnt gotta be the chicken that ate its eggs , i hope they make one with lord garmadon
I love how so many of these themes didnt sell well in their prime but then now more people want them and their value skyrockets
yeah like the original ones chicken pet frog + if u get me
Really fantastic video Ace! I really loved the LEGO TMNT line based on the Nick show. I bought my first set (the one with fish face) even before I liked the show, and I still loved the set! They were really vibrant and a lot of fun. I picked up a small Mega TMNT set that came out afterwards, and it was pretty cool. I really wish that the LEGO line had continued, because I became a BIG fan of the Nick show later on. Honestly, I wish they did some Rise of the TMNT sets too, because DAMN is that show wild!
1 I loved the original megabloks line, still have a lot of the location sets.
but yea, casey jones never removes his mask lol
2: The lego stuff was cool, but hard to justify getting large sets just for the characters i wanted.
3: The megaconstrux line was awesome, but they NEVER SOLD THEM IN ASIA!
it was IMPOSSIBLE to find the blind bags online without crazy prices! so I gave up after just a few.
Amazing work on the video! I really enjoyed getting to take a walk down memory lane and learn more about one of my favourite LEGO themes. Happy New Year and I can’t wait to see what other content you’ve got in store for this year!
Happy New Years to you too my brother
"Somehow My Bricks Opinions has returned"
I am shocked, yet so excited
Its crazy to me that all Nickelodeon stuff for LEGO never stuck around avatar, sponge Bob and now tmnt
Makes me wonder what Paramount’s licensing fee was, as that is one of the bigger unknowns for me right now. The video made some good points in TMNT’s case, and I’m sure BI did the same in his SpongeBob one. As for Avatar… Judging by the photos I’ve seen of those, the attempt to match the show’s style in the way they did for the Clone Wars sets really didn’t work out all that well.
Glad to have ace back, love the new content. Hope to see more of the older Lego themes given focus, like power miners, Atlantis and Chima!
Get ready cause I will
I think a big factor in these buildable TMNT lines consistently failing is due to the fact they have to directly compete with the various action figure lines. And since TMNT as a brand is so synonymous with action figures, a lot of the merch sales were going to them (Plus the occasional rolepay weapon and turtle gizmo here and there). With more kids gravitation towards the action figures, they didn’t really care for the buildable sets due to how out of scale they are with the average TMNT figure (Which is usually between 4-6 inches in height).
It also doesn’t help that a lot of the TMNT toy lines (Specifically the ones produced by Playmates) are often way more involved and/or in-the-know on what’s going on behind the scenes, which allows them to release figures alongside (Or relatively close to) their debut in the show. Whereas a buildable line like the Lego is not going to be really in the know on any BTS developments, so they have to constantly play catch-up with the characters in the show. This is why a key character like Karai didn’t join the Lego line until 2014. It’s also why lot of other key/recurring characters in the show from around the time the Lego sets were being produced didn’t make the cut, sub as Tiger Claw, Rahzar, Slash, the Rat King, and Casey Jones.
I remember buying some of the first wave sets as a kid. Man those were some good times when it came to Lego
Great to see you back ace another great video and great production quality this time, man I missed this channel also the 2012 tmnt sets were so fun
Much appreciated! worked really hard on improving it
0:50 I remember getting that one for Christmas as a kid. The worst part was the green goo that came with it, what an absolute mess.
I remember seeing the Lego ninja turtle Michael Bay Lego sets and really wanting them because I thought the turtles looked so neat but I still remember how darn expensive they were and I never got around to getting them
I actually remember getting a 2012 set. It was the one with Michelangelo and Krang, really loved it 😍
Suck these toys never sold well tho.
I'm still pissed megaconstrux never gaved us ROTTMNT sets
To be perfectly honest, I think Lego's TMNT could hav made a better effort in design. The turtles should have had their correct skin tones, and there should have been way more sets thag look accurate to the show. The only sets that look accurate to the show are the Shell Raiser, Shredder's Lair and the Turtle Sub. Everything else was not only weak in design, but looked nothing like the show. Look at Lego's 2012 sewer lair it looks absolutely *nothing* like the 2012 sewer lair, which would have made an amazing Lego set. Also, you're right, they should have been on time with the show. If they were, we would have gotten Casey Jones, Tiger Claw, Slash, the Squirrelinoids, and other season 2 characters. Every single Lego TMNT set pretty much only covers season 1.
I don't think there's a TMNT curse when it comes to construction sets. Is Lego made good, show-accurate sets based on the 1987 series or the 1990 movie, I GARENTEE they would sell like hot cakes.
I really wish Lego didn’t end their deal with Nickelodeon right before Lego Dimensions was being made, because I have spent all these years imagining what it would have been like having SpongeBob and TMNT as part of the game. That would have been the best!
Yo, it is great to have you back ace! Can't wait to see more new content.
Nice video, i didn’t know that The tmnt theme was tried as a whole line 4 times and all of them failed 😿
6:27 i wanted fish face and dog pound
I loved the 2012 range, I had most of the 1st wave, only one I didn't get was the sewer chase with Fish-legs, and had anywhere locally stocked the second I'd have brought that too. Sadly that all got sold on, only bit I have left is the instructions for the Mikey vs Krang $10 set as it had gotten muddled up with some others and couldn't find it when I sold them.
I wish they’d have done a rise of TMNT Lego sets that would’ve been cool
I actually really loved the idea of lego adding a little comic book to the set wich was really cool being a kid with that
The Mega construx collector series is so underrated and so unique I love them, just said I could not get the full collection I'm missing about 6 main figures
I had the 03 lair and the 03 turtle van when I was a kid but I completely forgot about the whole ooze feature, was mega fun
I remember buying the mega turtle van set with the spring loaded Raphael and buying a bunch of the mystery packs and some remains of the figures are still in my old Lego bins
I remember a magazine promotion they had for a lego con I went to with a friend as a surprise from my mom and we both got a that Raph minifig still have it and we both bring it up every once in a while
I’m subscribing just because of that. Cool, awesome intro.
That Shellraiser set was amazing, one of the most memorable Christmas presents i ever got
I had some Lego tmnt sets and they were really awesome, as well as mega tmnt sets that I still have built. The mega blocks tmnt sets are honestly really awesome, I have the first shell raiser and it’s really fun and well made, as well as a mirage comics set that may be my favorite tmnt set even above Lego. Everything kind of marbled in black and white looks really awesome with a good looking building and really great figs. I really hope Lego or mega can pick the theme back up to some success soon
I had the set with Shredder and Donatello. I got Splinter separately on eBay because I loved his unique head mold.
I wasn't able to buy the Lego sets when they came out but I bought them on bricklink years later. I made sure to get splinter, the 4 turtles, and shredder. I mostly buy sets off the minifigs. I would've killed to get bebop and rocksteady. A super shredder from secret of the ooze would've also been amazing. Casey Jones would've been awesome too. I didn't bother to watch the Michael Bay movies and was shocked to find out from this video that there were lego sets based on them.
I was never surprised the ninja turtles line failed, the only thing that surprised me was that many years later they gave it another try. Ninja Turtles was too niche by that time to have a Lego theme, yeah, I liked it when I was 5yrs old, but it had no staying power like Harry Potter, or Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, or Lord of the Rings.
I still remember seeing the Michael Bay TMNT sets when I was younger and wanted them so bad but they were just so expensive for something that didn’t felt like justified like the cheapest set was like $39 C
I sadly wasn’t old enough to purchase Lego TMNT at the time. But I did buy blind bags of the Mega Blox versions. Man I would’ve gotten the Lego ones if they were still around.
Great video!! :)
I have the LEGO TMNT figures from the 2013 series: all 4 🐢, Splinter 🐀 , Shredder and April O Neil. Each figure came with a skateboard with corresponding colors, pizza and weapon of choice. Each figure was relatively cheap at $5.
YOUR BACK! LETS GO!
I was obsessed with the 2012 ninja turtles when i was way little. My parents got me a lego with with the ooze and krangg, and the ooze just looked so much like candy the i almost choked to death on it. Luckily i was dumb enough to eat a lego, but smart enough to go find help
9:25 I have a donnie like that, I bought it at the time and it's one of my favorites until today
I had a mega blox figure of Leonardo in a weird white cloak/hood whenever I was little. I’m still wondering where it went.
I got the Mega Blocks lair set for my 6th birthday, I wish I still had it 😭
1:39 holy cow I remember that Spider-man figure! I completely forgot I had that one!
There was also a line of tmnt bricks from Italy from the 90s
I have Lego, Leonardo and Rafael. I still Donatello and Michelangelo but I’m looking for ice cream kitty for a stop motion series that focuses on the planets, action figures, and some marvel legends characters that I have crossover baby mainly X-Men crossover, but a lot of the other marvel heroes will make their appearance along with my OC, which is me as the human torch a younger version of him
Thanks to the big rig snow mtn set, I discover Karai would be in the movie & got sooooo excited, just for her to get more likes than Tatsu in the og movies
I had all four turtles' Splinter and krang. Never got my hands on Shredder. Unfourmetly a problem came up ( some of my uther lego heads had it too) the paint was chipping off the head and mainley the mouth. The turtles looked like they had green on thier teeth.
I had the turtle van 😂, I loved that set, such a heart break to here how disappointed you were in it.
Wdym? I love the turtle van
Turtles has a similar problem with action figured. I’m waiting for them to make some really accurate ones. They’ve recently released some pretty cool 90s movies ones (I think it was the 90s) so I’m hoping we’ll get more like the 2012 ones, 2003 ones and the 2007 ones (my 3 favourite ones)
another solid video 🎉
thing to mention with the ninjago point
it was the last season so people were HYPED for the EPIC CONCLUSION (or so we thought)
It really is sad that it failed, because Lego was putting in the effort to make these sets as cool as possible but for whatever reason they just won't sell.
I realy hope that someday Lego gives TMNT another shot, because with the help of the fans suggestions and feedback it can really become something special fot TMNT fans of all ages
They truly did put in the effort, I just think it comes down to over saturation, too many good themes out at the same time.
i remember theses 2013 sets, I had the sewer and motorcycle sets from the 1st wave
I wish you mentioned that in comicon Lego released Exclusive, TMNT figures but I guess that would’ve been unnecessary. Then you would’ve have to do it for all the other things you mentioned for exclusive things.
I remmember in 2016 waiting for the out of the shadow sets and then... 😓😓😓😓
Those foot soldiers from the 2014 movie wave are still top tier figures
Man, I wish we got more TMNT sets, I REALLY wanted them to make Rahzar, Mutagen Man, and the fly version of Stockman, and Bebop and Rocksteady did eventually appear in the show, so we might’ve gotten them too… such a shame…
omfg! i totaly had that radical ram set as a kid!
I've only ever had 1 TMNT set and I'm just glad I got my Raph minifigure
There are 2 things i think LEGO should do to redeem the franchise:
-A CMF Series with exclusive special characters that wouldn't appear in a set
-a UCS Turtle Lair set with a decked out Battle-Shell
I didn’t see any in the uk so probably why.
And I was actively looking for the 2016 mega blocks here too.
Plus why get the sets when you could get the actual 2012 playmates toy line that was also coming out at the time? I feel like TMNT adult collector set would do pretty well if based on Mirage and 87 in the form of a huge technodrome , turtle van, or lair.
I actually owned a few of the sets as a kid and still have the figure today… wish the line was more modern Lego style… I was too young at the time to appreciate the LEGO line in its run probably, I let the sets break and go into the bin and never completed the set. Only had the pizza truck battle and bike 10$ one 😅
The classic tmnt Mega bloks and Mega Construx sets and canisters were awesome!
I wish lego tmnt came back for the new movie that would have been cool especially getting a Lego super fly
Return of the king
As a ninja turtles fan i really likeed the lego and mega blocks sets. But after i got the figures i wanted i didn't care much. And that doesn't seem to out of place for this ip if you look at what sells well it's mainly action figures
Why is my house at the intro 😭
I think a UCS/display set for the classic turtles show with Splinter, the 4 turtles, Shredder, B-Bop & Rocksteady (kind of like Optimus Prime)
LEGO TMNT was one of my favorite themes. Due to part of me being a huge Ninja Turtles nut. I love all incarnations and when I saw sets based on the 2012 show I went nuts!
Mega blocks/construcs turtles is so awesome and beautiful. They were too pricey for me back then, but... I bought some of the sets and enjoy it more than MandR LSW
I liked the Lego 2012 figs, I only got 2 smaller sets, 1 of which is that $10 Kraang 1 ya talked about.
I loved the 2003 figs & sets too tho, that’s what I grew up w/ it
I grew up around that time TMNT and Ninjago were popular. I only got one TMNT set, but I had a ton of Ninjago sets
Never really new much of tmnt growing up. I’ll be hunting all these sets down, they’re all really cool
I loved Lego TMNT 2012 when I was a kid. Wish I got one of the sets. Shame Lego TMNT died off, but at least the Lego Fortnite skins brought it back in at least some capacity.
Dude you missed out! Those 5Below sets are fantastic!!
I wish legos tmnt continue making of the 80’s version. I did brought counterfeit version of bebop and rocksteady from comic con. Some minifigures are fan made
I have the Ghostbusters, Marvel, TMNT, Sesame Street all in my Daily Bugle and Sesame Street set
I had the two smallest TMNT sets! I was a big fan of the show. The sets had great builds and the minifigures were impressive.
on a scale of 1 to 10?
I love 2003 mega bloks figs I was only a 5 year old had the 4 turtle dudes but sadly I left them behind I'm glad i have 1870 Raphael from the snap n switch sets
Thanks for good video
I feel like a reason the Lego/mega sets don’t really sell is because a lot of tmnt fans have the action figures and don’t really see a need for the Lego sets
While I agree, lego has always been a great toy for world building and scale, and that’s an aspect turtles has lacked
@@MyBrickOpinions oh yeah, Lego is great, I’m not denying that. But if I was already collecting the figures at the time and maybe I didn’t have too much money, like maybe a kid back in 2013/2014 like when some of these released then I’m probably gonna keep with the stuff I already got. That’s why I think Lego is so great for dc or marvel stuff, sure they got toys on shelves too but those toys that are targeted for kids kinda suck, usually having limited articulation or paint unlike the turtles figures by playmates, at least for the core 4 turtles
>Says ooze in 2003 sets is a bad idea
>Refuses to elaborate
hard to clean
What’s crazy now is Lego turtles are in fortnite now so let’s hope we get a new line soon!
Both core age demographics were unable to afford the sets alongside no Christmas lineup for the releases.
The original fans were in college and the kids were well kids. Neither has a disposable income.
I disagree about the older demographic, most classic Turtles fans were far along into their 30s when mega’s line rolled around
I am a big fan of all the construction toys for Ninja Turtles. Sad to see it wasn't a success at any point lol
NGL if Lego did a TMNT CMF series I'd buy for Bebop and Rocksteady alone lol let alone if we get like a Tokka and Razar or something
Shame it'll probably never happen, and I'm guessing it's for the same reason we'll never see a Star Wars CMF line (which would also be great for filling out characters who are hard to design sets around like a Revenge of the Sith Padme)
Weird observation maybe, but all the Lego lines centered around furry characters seem to fail? Fabuland, TMNT, Chima, Vidiyo... It's kind of a shame 'cause I'd love more diversity there.
Question where is this store you live by. I loved these ninja turtles for details and to go back to the past one more time would be. Nice.
It’s in a city called Monterrey in the north of Mexico, store is called Julio cepeda
I totally forgot they did this but I want some after the seeing the new animated movie
Same, those figures would go so hard
i still have old minifigure parts from this line. they any good?
Some of them are expensive, some of them aren’t
Well actually I did wanted those sets at the time! But one I couldn’t find them at to at the time prices were steep!
I want Lego to have an Alien/Aliens theme. It'll never happen, but I can want it. ;)
I really wanted to get these sets but I was still young so I never got these so I hope they bring them back so I can get all the turtles and I love the 2012 turtles
As a Mega fan, I love that while you don’t collect them, you don’t just blindly drive them into the dirt, I get Lego has tons of pros over Mega, but as a die hard Halo fan I enjoy and collect a lot of their sets! Thanks for being open minded
Yeah that’s kinda why I wanted to start this series, just because a series of sets failed or was overlooked, it doesn’t mean you gotta hate on it, I really wanted to call out how mega out did lego
