This game made my childhood me and my mom used to play split screen and finish most of the run. But I finished it and seeing others still play it I was shocked seeing it had no updates since the story ended and I didn't know that theese existed in the files!
Yeah I really wish we could play those hopefully someone could find early concepts for them like their idea rather than voice lines and a map icon I’d love to see the idea they had for some of those like paramedic panic that only have a map icon to see what could’ve been and maybe what could be modded in
Small correction: The harbor cops do appear as pedestrians, but they have unused icons which lead me to believe that they are unused PLAYABLE characters.
Is It just me or would everyone be happy to pay to have all the cut content put back in the game as 10th anniversary dlc? (It’ll probably will never happen but we can dream 😂)
17:00 I believe the names in the cutscene were removed because the scene would've had to be a lot longer for the names to be read properly. This would change the pacing of the cutscene a lot and it was probably cut because it would throw off the scene entirely.
Wow, I’m in awe of how much more ambitious the game was gonna be! It’s sad they didn’t get any further updates to flesh out the game, you could really feel the unrealized potential. I’m glad we still get to see this cool stuff though, great video!
Fun Fact: you can (kind of?) see parts of rooms in levels that you normally cant see because the camera can't turn around using the radar scanner thing
I grew up with this game, my god. I'm honestly happy this game isn't forgotten like I thought, such a good game. Crazy to think things are being found a decade later.
Seeing that unused versions of the Chase Begins figures exist honestly make me think that in the beta, they would have been boss fights similar to prior lego games, hence why the final game only really has Jimmy Grossman and the Final Boss as boss fights.
I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought of Isle Delfino when hearing the name of Isle Delphino. Thank you for compiling all this information! I appreciate it. I remember playing through this game years ago and loving it alot. I wish DLC would've been made, sad unfortunately.
I really liked the video. You are probably the only one on youtube. who spoke in more detail about the history of development and unused content in Lego city undercover.
One reason the frantic fares mission was scraped was because it gave out studs based on the unused UI. With stud multipliers giving you pretty much unlimited studs, they could have thought it was pointless.
This is honestly really cool, looking at how remaster is essentially a combined version of 3ds and WiiU assets I myself have found a few things you mentioned in this video in the WiiU files but have never implemented them into the game But now I'm curious to see what I can do. Anyways awesome video and thank you for the A+ LCU content
Also a few interesting things, the Traghetti is the same model as the canoe that can be found in Lego lord of the rings during the hunt for frodo section of the game, but it is laying sideways. Also the possible mission of Chase returning flowers to the secretary is interesting as it may explain why she has a somewhat crabby attitude to chase during the final version of the game. Also the Harry Potter texture of Harry and Hermione being wanted is actually visible in Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 in the Gryffindor common room if I'm not mistaken on a chalkboard off to the right, although the texture is slightly changed. Also the aisle delfino part of the map is interesting and I might check that out on the WiiU version eventually

For the thing honey says, im thinking that it meant there couldve been a police radio. Dunby says about getting donuts from a coffee shop or smth and the Red Cafe across the road from the station would server donuts (as we see in LCUTCB) which would have to be before the 2nd cutscene of the game where we meet frank who drops several boxes of donuts. Either that or we were meant to meet Dunby and Frank with Mayor Gleeson after we get off of the container ship.

Considering that the 2017 remaster of LEGO City Undercover includes files for cutscenes and characters from the 3DS title, the Chase Begins, I kinda wish they would've made the campaign of the Chase Begins available as DLC for the remaster. Kind of a missed opportunity, in my opinion.
So much unused content T_T Thanks for making this video. I really wished they kept the playable models from Chase Begins (at least that might stop everyone asking why Mayor Gleeson is a police character). It's also nice hearing the unused dialogue from some beloved characters too.

Like I said, dumb idea, but who knows, could work lol
7:25 i have a possible theory on this level: because of the entrance that seems to connect to the old police station, it possibly means this was supposed to be some kind of tutorial level so players can learn the mechanics of the game. once you finished, you could walk out to the outside world.
Idk if someone already know this but while i was playing and was in the character wheel i picked a char but as soon as i did the beta costume for beta chase appears but it was there for a split sec
This game is my childhood. It's the first one that I have finished a hundred percent, and I have more than 300 hours on it. It was on the 3DS back then
I think not all content was completly scrapped. One of the harbour cops still appears as a civillian. I think he has a diffrent shirt tho. You can find him on boats and he sometimes spawns on the Auburn bridge sidewalk in the fort meadows side.
Love the video! Glad to see how thorough you were with your research

because of the entrance that seems to connect to the old police station, it possibly means this was supposed to be some kind of tutorial level so players can learn the mechanics of the game. once you finished, you could walk out to the outside world.
Thank you for reminding me on my childhood with this and the other video from 8 months ago
this game is the definition of replayability, ive already replayed it 7 times on my PS4 and Switch
Dude as a kid I wanted to fly those planes at Lego city airport
Cool video and nice editing! Thank you!
Very fitting, that RUclips recommended me this video on the PAL anniversary!
Idk if someone already know this but while i was playing and was in the character wheel i picked a char but as soon as i did the beta costume for beta chase appears but it was there for a split sec
Nope cuz I don't use any Chase McCain character for now
Good job on archiving a lot of this info seeing as this game doesn’t get a ton of recognition unfortunately
15:45 all the cutscenes are just in the game on the PlayStation version
Your videos have convinced me, I picked up the game!!!
15:54 I swear to God that was an annoying discovery. I'm not kidding when I thought that was a 100% bonus rather then cut content
I miss playing this game on my Wii u I loved all the Mario Easter eggs
Are there any scrapped places that were going to be on the map
I’m playing this for the first time on PS4 but I grew collecting and playing Lego sets. All I can say is that the game is a masterpiece.
