I am pretty sure you can just kill all Berlin targets using that screwdriver in close combat after they attack you. Since they aren't authorised to use deadly force by state, it will be considered self-defense
after they attack you would be too late. self defense is the act of stopping the attack, or repeating attacks. if the other person stopped himself you cant retaliate and calling it self defense. also you cant just use any force. especially lethal with lethal weapons (or tools that used as weapons in this case) you can only use slightly more force than the aggressor to overpower them. if they use lethal forces you can use lethal forces but a hit is usually not lethal. in a trial you can make excuses for why you used more force than you wanted (like beeing in panic and the pistol the aggressor dropped was right beside you so you took it and shoot without aiming when the aggressor charged at you again) but this is still a crime it is just without consequences for you.
@@mauer1 It depends on state/country laws. Typically if someone is out to kill you with full intent, you can administer lethal force. Clearly if people are rolling up on you with guns, they have full intent to kill you, making it self defense. If the law for that place is different then that sucks, but where I'm from if someone tries to kill you you can basically do whatever.
@@dingdawngwell mission is called berlin so i would assume its in germany. Its more about the options the defender has and if there are options to not kill the attacker that might already tip over the scale. and lets be real here the player in these missions has all the possibilities to not kill (outside of mission design), 007 is by far outmatching these ai opponents.
I'm not a lawyer, this isn't legal advice - I'm just some nerd looking up laws on the internet and doing his best to interpret them. From the Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch (or civil law book) of Germany: Section 226 disallows exercising any right for the sole purpose of causing damage to another. Amusingly this probably makes the banana kill illegal whereas just killing them after they start attacking might not be. Section 227 allows actions to ward off unlawful assault. So regardless of 47's other actions on the scene, he is legally allowed to defend himself against any and all civilian and criminal attackers for the purpose of stopping the assault. Section 230 (1) clarifies that self-defence must use the least force necessary. In the context of the game, this could be interpreted to mean that if the targets assault 47 and you don't have any non-lethal actions available to take, you'd be legally allowed to use deadly force, even if the targets wouldn't have used lethal force themselves. However, fleeing the scene of the attack is also an act of self-defence and must be considered as a possible action to take in response to the assault. I'm not entirely familiar with the enforcement of German law, but I faintly remember that people under investigation and on trial for self-defence should never concede that they could have taken another action and should insist at all times without fail that they felt their safety was at risk and they saw no recourse other than the actions they took. The story of the game mentions these agents were sent with the explicit mission and instructions to kill 47, so self-defence absolutely applies. You'd only have to find a way to justify killing.
Starting locations are lore accurate to your challenge. You can say 47 went and actually got employed and went through all the red tape to legally get that position (both business position and strategic position).
I appreciate that you don't count using disguises as illegal. Like, irl if a guy just walked into someplace and changed his clothes, nobody would bat an eye unless he was trespassing in order to do so
Im sure that'd still count as stealing, if not from the idividual who left their uniform there, or if its the companies surplus stock for new employees. Let alone the tresspassing it requires to likely obtain and facilitate the need of a disguise to get around. But that'd really make the game impossible then.
Wearing a costume is not illegal ✅ The ways you obtain them in this game... pretty sure they'd all still be illegal. Stealing at a minimum, and usually trespassing does seem to be required ❎ Starting locations and their outfits, though... I think that's fair game. We can only assume someone (perhaps foolishly) hired Agent 47 for said job. Also some of these disguises could be considered illegal impersonation but surely not all of them right?
it is still a crime, not your cloth, the borrowing argument usually do not work, not that it matters, as that would be still illegal, just a lesser crime. taking the bananas and other items also stealing, as they are not yours. (maybe the staff in dartmor not counts as stealing, as you had the right for investigating.) littering is a crime in some places and still not ok otherwise.
@archerelms impersonating law enforcement, yes impersonating kitchen staff garnderers or other occupations that 47 can, no plus as you said going back to the starting locations it's entirely possible 47 was just hired for the jobs (and hence was given a uniform)
To be fair since the Berlin agents are literally hunting you down i feel like you could build a case where you just "happened" to be caught with a gun near and had no choice but to kill them all in self defense!
@@dumb214 I'm pretty sure self defense lets you use whatever is near to defend yourself. But yeah, you can kill them all with screwdrivers as well i suppose
I saw an interesting solution for Berlin in a video by OnionButter, were he tried to not kill anyone. He would just put leaking gas canisters in particular spots, were the targets despite the obvious leak would decide to smoke a cigarette.

ideas: In Berlin, you can get yourself acquitted on Self Defense charges by legally entering the club (starting at the club entrance), getting spotted by Agent Price and having him fire at you first, and fighting back. This is because any obituary will eventually discover that the ICA were not club patrons nor staff.
That banana kill at 3:30 was so clean, I’ve seen a couple no kill runs and it usually takes other people dozens of attempts just placing one banana with 0 coins and hoping or literally needed to bring in 100 bananas to do it which isn’t exactly vanilla
only problem here, is that he broke another law. Don't know the specific law, but setting up a booby trap (and especially on another person's property) with the intent of harming an individual is quite illegal. to get into said position he also commited identity fraud (taking a guards disguise)
@@Le_Flatfish everything he did ended in someone dying from his involvement which would be a crime, its not possible to intentionally kill a target without it being a crime as even the mastermind in a crime ring is still a criminal even if he's never directly committed any of the crimes himself

that banana ledge kill had me WHEEZING. Would love a ruleset that are physical comedy kills only. Slipping on bananas is the obvious one, but I'm sure someone sufficiently clever could come up with others :)
3:35 If this is logic, I raise a quote from Halo Reach: “I once met a soldier who told me he thought his weapon was a time machine. He wasn't killing the enemy, but moving them forward to a time when they were no longer alive.”
In Berlin, you know all 10 guys are out to kill you. Literally just capping them with a gun can be called self defense. It's not exactly cut and dry, but you can try doing it in a way that you can easily explain in court. Maybe get caught by them so they shoot first. Self defense laws are a bit different in Germany. I don't know exactly how it works but their word for self defense is like "necessity defense" and it includes more than just defending yourself. Sidenote: Beating Chongqing without committing a crime is impossible because everything's illegal in China.
@@lamp1585 In german self defense laws your action isn't weighted against the attackers except for really extreme cases. So if someone tries to attack you (drawing a gun, trying to charge you) you are allowed to use lethal force if that will stop the attack.
11:36 Well, Thames was breaking Occupational Health & Safety by standing beneath a suspended load. It was only a matter of time before he was involved in an unavoidable workplace accident.
Before watching the video: How are you supposed to do it without impersonation, stealing, tresspassing or hell, even manslaughter? After watching: Yeah he did all of that in the first mission, kinda figured
To be fair the only one he technically did there was trespassing and impersonation. Which trespassing is a civil case, so technically should be ok for the run, and knowing agent 47 he should, in theory, be qualified for all the roles he impersonates. He never killed anyone and and he showed his arguments for all the theft as taking a banana off your “coworker’s” desk that they weren’t going to eat isn’t really a criminal action, so technically the only crimes committed were some of the crimes commented above. Edit: looked more into it and death via negligence is still manslaughter, so I’m wrong about the manslaughter charge.
@@ynam.2622Nono see, It wasn't 47 being a negligent worker, he was simply doing his job as a crane operator/electrician/ and DJ. The victims were the negligent ones walking into hazardous environments without proper PPE like, Thames wasn't wearing a hard hat :P

@@sinteleon in a court that would be hard to prove especially since the floor has plastic on it meaning an attorney could push a jury to believe dianne had premeditated the murder which is way worse and on top of that she didn’t notify the authorities which would make her guilty in the eyes of everyone

(granted this is assuming said guards recover from their banana knockouts, though it is highly likely said guards also communicated the incident before starting to move the corpse regardless) Regardless, there would be a clear instance of sabotauge of evidence by the security guards to pin anything on Diane; their fingerprints would be all over the bodybag used to move the corpse. Also, the floor having plastic on it also further proves the point of it being in self defense, against pre-mediated murder on the victim's part, considering the whole area is a setup by the victim to begin with.
47 did not know Diane would stab him. Maybe he thought that she would show the screwdriver as surprise to him. And freezing and panicking is only natural reaction to event.
@Andy47357 Premeditation is irrelevant in a self-defense claim in most jurisdictions. The elements one has to prove tend to be some version of there being an immediate threat of death or grevious bodily harm and that deadly force was the only reasonable way to prevent said threat. Both elements have a fairly strong case here. You can know someone is going to attack you and premeditate stabbing them and if that is the only reasonable way for you to prevent being harmed it is self defense.

That is littering, Agent 47 isn't placing a banana down, he places the skin. That means skins it, swallows the fruit bit whole leaving only the skin, which is definitely litter.

I freaking love the fact that Agent 47 signiture weapon is making his enemies slip on Banana peels, it's like he went to the loony toons branch of assasin school
Note about Germany, as you aren’t contract killing, you could abuse its loose self defense laws and just kind of walk around until people try to kill you, then kill them in self defense.
Only the acquisition of private property is illegal. He never claimed to be any particular person so it's on the man who took his word for his credentials for the second bit
14:40 Though not necessarily an illegal detail alongside the other stuff, Jeremy's route after being fired is to call his mom then look for his friend (Royce's bodyguard). Not that 47 would really know about this, but since you also killed the friend with the fire along with your target, Jeremy will kill himself as a result of not being able to find him so there could be some accessory to suicide charge or whatever it would be. Could be argued that incapacitation of someone to prevent themselves from killing themselves is justified in some degree, idk.
Yeah, I would say detaining someone to prevent them from committing suicide would be excusable in the eyes of the law, but he wouldn't be required to do so. 47 didn't actively encourage the guy to kill himself (by telling the him to do so) or assist him in killing himself (by providing the means to accomplish it). Even if he had done one of those things, they are only illegal in certain places.

Diana pulling her hairs out with this one. "47 this isn't even silent assassin any more just JUST PLEASE DO A CRIME"
I am pretty sure you can just kill all Berlin targets using that screwdriver in close combat after they attack you. Since they aren't authorised to use deadly force by state, it will be considered self-defense
I love how the government can just decide there allowed to murder you :3
after they attack you would be too late. self defense is the act of stopping the attack, or repeating attacks. if the other person stopped himself you cant retaliate and calling it self defense.
also you cant just use any force. especially lethal with lethal weapons (or tools that used as weapons in this case) you can only use slightly more force than the aggressor to overpower them. if they use lethal forces you can use lethal forces but a hit is usually not lethal.
in a trial you can make excuses for why you used more force than you wanted (like beeing in panic and the pistol the aggressor dropped was right beside you so you took it and shoot without aiming when the aggressor charged at you again) but this is still a crime it is just without consequences for you.
From the Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch (or civil law book) of Germany:
Section 226 disallows exercising any right for the sole purpose of causing damage to another.

Like, irl if a guy just walked into someplace and changed his clothes, nobody would bat an eye unless he was trespassing in order to do so
As long as one didn’t expose themselves in the process 😂😂
Im sure that'd still count as stealing, if not from the idividual who left their uniform there, or if its the companies surplus stock for new employees. Let alone the tresspassing it requires to likely obtain and facilitate the need of a disguise to get around.
But that'd really make the game impossible then.
Wearing a costume is not illegal ✅
The ways you obtain them in this game... pretty sure they'd all still be illegal. Stealing at a minimum, and usually trespassing does seem to be required ❎
Starting locations and their outfits, though...

I saw an interesting solution for Berlin in a video by OnionButter, were he tried to not kill anyone.

Agent Thames slowly and dramatically falling over after having an entire cement wheel dropped on him is absolute comedy gold
Not exactly easily explained in court it would be a long legal battle with your lawyers having to prove that you didn’t use excessive force
@@lamp1585 If they shoot you (or even prepare to), that's a reasonable case.

Before watching the video:
How are you supposed to do it without impersonation, stealing, tresspassing or hell, even manslaughter?
After watching:
Yeah he did all of that in the first mission, kinda figured

To be fair, it's arguably self-defense on Diane's part. At the very least, the guards seems to think so too.
@@sinteleon in a court that would be hard to prove especially since the floor has plastic on it meaning an attorney could push a jury to believe dianne had premeditated the murder which is way worse and on top of that she didn’t notify the authorities which would make her guilty in the eyes of everyone
@@Andy47357 Except, she did it in plain sight of security guards (aka effectively authorities), which are also key witnesses in this case; You basically have 3 witnesses, including 2 security guards who are NOT in Diane's employ and started clearing the body from the scene.
(granted this is assuming said guards recover from their banana knockouts, though it is highly likely said guards also communicated the incident before starting to move the corpse regardless)
Regardless, there would be a clear instance of sabotauge of evidence by the security guards to pin anything on Diane; their fingerprints would be all over the bodybag used to move the corpse.
