  • Originally a LTR coach (las Vegas tonapah Reno lines), this bus was converted in 1979 by its current owner. You could eat off the Detroit diesel 8v71 engine because it’s so clean, and it has gorgeous paint and mostly original exterior.

Obviously a recent, complete and detailed, out of frame rebuild, with an immaculate finish! He mentioned special pistons and the thing probably hasn't lost a drop of oil since the rebuild. He probably did it all himself. Amazing custom automatic transmission set up & mount too. He seems to be way, way beyond even professional mechanical bus owners. Very interesting.

@James B. - I first met the owner of this bus in 1994 in Bullhead City, AZ. The engine was just as clean 28 years ago as it was when this was filmed, so no, this is NOT a recent rebuild. IIRC, he did the complete, out-of-frame rebuild not long after he bought the bus in 1979, but he's a perfectionist and keeps it immaculate. He's very well-known in the Western GM bus community, and everyone is always in awe of his incredible work.

I like the fact He kept the side and rear windows instead of the fiberglass rear cap and side aluminum window covers. The natural light is nice to have.
The mechanical side engine bay, wet bay etc... Is pristine.👍

The transmission is $5k for a rebuilt one and install is DIY unless you get a rare mechanic that wants to do it. Only one I’ve seen do em is bus grease monkey.

@@ThisOldBus yes sir, I have found one, and sent a message, it is a standard, I have never driven a bus, standard or otherwise, but that is what I want as a motorhome, no sticks and staples for me. The bus is way north of me here in Texas, and north of BGM, so I would take it straight to Scott, and at least have him give it the once over, before bringing it home, it is a really clean older professional conversion. Still looking though, not much pops up close to me, I am also looking at mid to late 80s Newells, most need painting, but that's what I have been doing for the last 42 years, never painted a bus though lol 😆

@@bill8582 also there is a piece you need that sits between the engine and automatic transmission on a 4106, it might be harder to find than the transmission. Look on eBay there’s a guy I bought a Tranny from that might have one… could be rare. You’d be better off getting a bus that’s already an automatic…

The upright is only attached when boondocking next to others, to get the noise and fumes away from their passenger side and picnic area.
