Oh brother...! I happen to know where eight to ten buses are languishing in a farmers field just a few miles (as the crow flies) to Winnipeg and the other is in the middle of nowhere... thousands of cars, busses., trucks and heavy duty equipment... I was driving from coast to coast so I couldn't buy anything but what an amazing resource all three have very kind owners always available for advice or parts searching antique autos .. Have fun to all....
Fantastic review guys! I love seeing all the stages these projects are in. Just proves with the passion and a mild budget you can get into one of these. Speaking from experience it’s life changing!
Very good video safe! Would love to see you continue these either with Jason or maybe rotate around and have Jason one week, then have Scott do an episode, maybe Phil Could do one and just keep rotating. Excellent info especially for those of us in the immediate market to buy. I’d also love to see it expand a little further to include a few of the other extremely popular vintage buses and not strictly silversides. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this sage, you did an outstanding job brother!! Thank you
loved it, keep doing it. i would love to see more detail pics or video, inside, etc.... Chances are that won't be possible always, but i would like that.
I've probably owned 75 different vehicles over the years. Never a bus but several large commercial vehicles. In my experience, the best deals come word of mouth- something which doesn't happen very often with social media and a smart phone in every pocket. There were many times when the seller sold to me for a cheaper price simply because I showed up when I said I would and made the sale easy. I don't know when blowing off sellers after making an apartment to "come pick it up", but it seems to be very popular.
I believe the original holes for the original dogs were in the thin trim strips, which hide the rivets. I've yet to see any dog holes in the fluted aluminum.
Back in about 19 89 I'm not exactly sure but in New Brunswick New Jersey there was a gigantic building on right off of French Street actually and it was a Greyhound bus depot and it had been out of business for many many years but a friend of mine had gotten into building a motorhome and had bought a bus some pre-war bus I'm not sure really what it was but he was able to meet one of the custodians of the building and he gave him all sorts of Greyhound parts insignia signs seats you name it and he was given all sorts of things that I guess this man thought was worthless but I guess there is obviously a need for this stuff

And the other thing you should touch on is storage for the bus itself. Can you park it at your home or you have to rent a storage space/lot somewhere to park it because of zoning ordinances or HOA's.
I believe there are five different companies that own silversides that rent them to movies. Two in Los Angeles, one in Kansas City, one on the east coast.
Sage, you’d mentioned in your first video in Texas on your 3751 that there were issues with the VIN and title that had stopped Jason proceeding with the purchase. What issues do you face getting it rectified? I’d imagine VIN issues could be tricky to sort?
The Sage thanks for the reply. Sounds like a pretty straight forward process. I’m looking forward to seeing the next instalment. Hopefully just a blower replacement to get her running again.
That coach in Texas appears to have Trailways color scheme on it. I'm from South Georgia originally, in Arkansas now, and I rode Trailways buses many times. Did Greyhound sell buses to Trailways? Great video so I subscribed. I'm also a sub for Indiana diesel and Busgreasemonkey. 👍
I used to have an MC8 and a few MC9 buses. (Some of the MCIs were actually TMCs) . . . I guess no one cares about those. I sometimes think I might have to buy an MCI bus. . . .
I love them. I have a classic Wanderlodge. One day I looked back and a mailbox, post and all flying end over end. My wife sees it and asks, I say, ‘what mailbox’. Bad me. I have a motor coach license. No wish to drive a tour bus no matter how cool.
Yea I wouldnt brag about that. What if there was someone who side swiped you and went around bragging to his friends that he once joked to his wife about it.
I tried buying a red one up in Calgary Alberta a few years ago but the owner sold it before the soonest day he told me I could look at it. It was only $4000. Was an old party bus turned race car hauler. Anybody know where it ended up? Maybe they gave up on it and I can buy it still..
I enjoyed listening to this and seeing these old busses. I watch Bus Grease Monkey religiously and love his channel. It became very evident though that you were mainly interested in trying to trump up the value of these busses. Kind of like a shill at an auction trying to push the prices higher. These busses have niche market, very few buyers out there especially now and the younger buyers don't remember them, have an interest in them and surely are not going to pay some of the prices you try to set. Jason was far more realistic in his evaluations. Just my 2 cents.
Actually, my motivation for making the video was global domination. However, anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for them. I'm not buying or selling so it doesn't matter much to me.

Those guys wanting ten grand for that wreck are having a laugh. Probably cost ten grand to get it running then another ten to get in reasonable shape. Also two grand to recover. I bet it’s still there rusting away, probably have to pay someone to get rid of it.

Great discussion, Subbed. This could make an interesting series covering various other GM models like the 4103, 4104, 4106 etc. Check out my channel for my rebuild/restoration of a very early, original exterior 4106 (#106).
Hate to be brutally honest, but the reason Jason cannot find a bus is because he wants something for nothing! I see it all the time with cars. He wants the seller to "give" him the bus. Again, I am being blunt but realistic! I hope he finds a stupid seller!!!!! Sage...You are a complete contrast and look at these buses realistically!
I've actually found a few I would have purchased but they had title issues. Even found a really nice 35K bus I would have bought, but the owner never came up with a good title.
And to add Jason is from Canada and not having a good title is a deal breaker when he’s trying to get it across the border. So the title is a major issue for him
That's me, Bus Old Man Phil. I work on the Bus Boys Collection. We'll be looking at this one this summer.

Very interesting and great strategy from Greyhound about selecting the 19" rims to prevent theft. I didn't know that. Genius idea.
There once was a time when U Haul used an oddball size ball hitch for similar reasons.
@@markphilpott8735 I bought a 2016 GMC pickup that was a U haul rental it also had odd sized tires on it that you could not buy on the open market.

Hey Lance. Good content for folks looking for a silverside bus.

Man, I would if I could. My near antique Wanderlodge is 25 tons of all steel. Kind of glad they are hard to scrap.
I drove the silver sides in 1965 for Wisc. Coach lines.out of Waukesha.
10.00 x 20 are tube type. 11.00 x 22.5 are tubeless. They are the same outside diameter and can run side by side.
Hello, don’t know if you’re interested but I have pd4151-157, it runs but needs a lot of tlc. Thanks Mark
I believe the original holes for the original dogs were in the thin trim strips, which hide the rivets. I've yet to see any dog holes in the fluted aluminum.
I'll have to look again.
If you look at the Texas bus you can see where the trim strips are missing from the dog.
Great video
Great video guys
Love these buses. Awesome Video's and great advice. Were can we look at for the sales on these buses? I must find one for myself
Look at Facebook and Craigslist. We have a running conversation on Bus Grease Monkey.
fun to watch and informative!
Do you know contact for Bus in Silver Spring Maryland . Thats right near me
Want parts go to Argentina. Greyhound San Francisco sold a whole bunch of Silversides to them in the early 70's.
Loved the video and look forward to the next instalment. I’d love to bring one of these beauties down home to New Zealand.
Apart from the Ansair Flxibles some of which have two stroke diesels, we only have a few 4106s in OZ
