Very nice bus! Brings me back memories of when I drove these back in the 80's. Great running coach.
What part of the country did you drive in the 80's? I drove in that timeframe also? Eyre Bus Service in Woodbine, MD.
@@strayhound61 I drove for Gray Line Hawaii on the island of Oahu.
@@hcrffi WOW! That's certainly on the other side of the world from us. Guess we never met on a charter together. ;-)
I used to drive these buses in the early 80's and always felt they were the most comfortable bus to drive. We used to call them the GM Hump ! Power steering was nice and the steering wheel was on a nice comfortable angle. These were 4 speed manual and a bit tricky to shift. I was often complimented on my smooth shifting. I miss driving them. This video brings back fond memories.
Man now that a nice Bus if I had the money.
My name is Doug Hello from Virginia 🇺🇸
I really like it .
This one had already sold, when I saw this video, but I would love to own it, what a beautiful bus.

I know Charles and Janet very well. Fantastic people Fantastic coach.
Yes they are!
I recently saw a bus very similar to that and it was so immaculate the man who was showing it couldn’t stop smiling. They are gorgeous busses no doubt about it. I love that it’s all electric. I don’t care for messing around with the fuel. I would have put in a composting toilet. All that wood finish is so beautiful!! Thanks for showing it!

Guy sounds like alot!! like Bob Shepard , the famous NY Yankee and NY Giants Football PA Announcer. Don't you think?
HA! I think you might be right! (knew I knew that voice from someplace!)
The band I toured with for years had a 4108 and it was always a good ride for the 7 of us. We swapped out the coach HVAC for a 10kw diesel generator that we ran quite a few shows off of.
Interestingly we did a lot of work in Pennsylvania being that most of the band was from that region. I spent a good bit of time in the Hershey area and met my wife in Lebanon.

awesome!!! 🧡🧡🧡
Of all the busses I have driven in my life these GM’s are a Cadillac. In wind, ice and snow these GM’s are the only thing to drive. Wow, she’s beautiful. Simple to fix, simple transmission. I wish I could take it for a spin.
I agree! And I wish you could too.

I love this guy! Makes me sad he’s selling his beautiful baby, I can tell he loves it. ❣️🚌❣️
Yes, I can't imagine the courage it takes to sell it. I don't think I could do it. I figure either I'm going to die or my bus is going to die and I'm hoping I go first!
Thanks for watching.
Seems he's lost his health and can no longer use the bus.
That won't last long. Very nice.
Yes, I think he's ready to let someone else have a chance with it. It's a great bus for sure!
Wear does one get a porcelain bowel? Proctologist?
Perhaps, but Camping World and other suppliers carry several models including the Dometic brand shown here.
Absolutely Stunning Coach !!!!!!!
Didn't realize that was Charles Wotring! I have seen his name on the Yahoo Trailways group for years - that's where I found this link (I would have probably realized this had I read the article in which I found the link!). I saw the Trailways sticker on his case and that grabbed my attention. My dad drove for Trailways for years and I grew up riding buses with him. I dreamed of being a bus driver when I was a kid and would love to buy my own coach someday!
Better move fast. His bus is a one of a kind for sure and is exactly what Traiways ran in the 70s. A good walk down memory lane! Thanks for watching Derek!
@@strayhound61 Actually, if I ever buy one, I would love to have an Eagle. That was primarily what my dad drove before the merger with Greyhound. He did drive some of the GMCs on one of his side jobs, but the Eagle has always been the one I have a soft spot for! Course, I need to redo the home theater before I drop 10s of thousands on a bus! LOL! It is a nice looking bus for sure!
@@DerekBCook Yes, the Eagles were unique and good looking buses in their day. They were nice to drive. (drove many in my day) However, if you ever get serious about buying a bus, I'd strongly recommend staying away from an Eagle. The company went out of business close to 40 years ago and parts are extremely hard to come by. The primary issue with and Eagle is with the suspension. Eagles used a unique torsalastic suspension that had a vulcanized rubber spring. Those components would rust and cause compete failure. They are not produced anywhere and are virtually non-existent. Some people have tried with great difficulty to retrofit with air bellows. It's a huge and expensive job. Stick with a GM or MCI or Prevost. Most of the parts are still obtainable, except for curved body and glass panels. Look for rust free if you can.
@@strayhound61 Thanks for the advice! I will keep that in mind should I ever get serious about it.
"No other coach has a big huge compartment like this" he says.
It seems he has never heard of an MCI.
I am not too familiar with these GM buses.
I have a LOT of experience with the MCIs that followed.
VERY similiar in many ways.
This guy is great.
To this day no bus has the under storage room of this bus... the GM Buffalo's are the rommiest... I have both mci's, gm's and prevosts... no one comes close to storage space of this bus...
I grew up playing in a bunch of mci buses, my Dad was a Greyhound bus driver for 34 yrs.
She would be better priced about where she belongs as she is a Buffalo no matter what she has and needs the normal upgrades and is worth 35-40K, not the $71K she cost back in 2007 for the owner. nice bus for what she is which looks like an 80s conversion with two generations of updates. Now it needs a clean up for all the disconnected stuff a backup camera solar system, sat, and WiFi system LED conversion, and on and on and on. It does not improve with age like a collector's car.

This is amazing. It truly makes me want one. Our neighbor has an rv that they practically live in despite having a whole house. They’re elderly and retired (have had this rv for a very long time) and have continued to travel with COVID bc they have their own home to retreat to wherever they go.
Thanks Kyla, you're right. We have one too (see my other videos) and we were very fortunate to be able to travel in our own home as you said. (and we're old too!) I think everybody should have one! "All original" So what you're saying is it needs all new oil lines, air lines, coolant lines, air bags, shocks, bushing ect.... Really nice bus but good luck on the price.
Says will consider offers. these old buses are mostly stainless steel with rivets. Unless it's junked it will still be in service or sitting some where rust free 50 years from now. You can live in it and not drive it unless you move.

I was wondering if this nice gentleman ever sold this Bus ???
Thanks for the question. Yes, he sold the bus very quickly after this video was posted. You'll be delighted to know he had several people who expressed interest in buying it and he was able to sell it for very close to the asking price. There is a note below the title that indicates it is sold. However, the post remains because there is another bus he is able to refer interested parties to on a similar bus belonging to a friend of his. Thanks again for watching! I grew up in Western NC and a company called Cherokee Boys Club had several of these buses for charter use. Paint scheme was very similar. I remember them having the skylight window in the front. Very cool!

As city bus driver... I’m ready..
I heard this model coach as well as the GM 4900 Series had fuel injector issues...is that true?
Interesting. I can't imagine where you heard that. Completely untrue. These coaches used the Detroit Diesel series 71 engines. The earliest models used 4-71 and 6-71 series Detroits (4 and six cylinder configurations, 71 cubic inches per cylinder) From 1961 through 1988, GM manufactured these over-the-road coaches (with slight body changes every few years) almost all exclusively using the 8-71. They were workhorse engines often getting well over a half million miles on them. The one in mine has over 250,000 miles and is still going strong. While they have used slightly different size injectors, they have NEVER been a consistent problem. The only time they are a problem is when someone comes along and puts Bio-Diesel fuel in the tank. They are not compatible with anything other than #2 diesel fuel or kerosene. These engines were widely used in marine applications, off-road heavy equipment, and widely used in the military. They are one of the toughest engines ever built and the injectors were never a common problem as long as proper clean fuel is used.
The paint looks very much like that of the now defunct livery of Peerless Stages, Oakland Ca. Red and yellow over white. This looks orange rather than red.
Master battery On/Off switches were installed on all commercial vehicles early on, also including marine and aviation , via government CFR, code of federal regulation. Its not and hasn't been an option..All must comply.
If you have to ask , you can’t afford it , is the adage. But how much does a machine like this set you back?
Don’t like the layout in the front of the bus at all. And I would never have an electric only RV.
He likes it so that is the only person plus it’s future owner that matter

Man what an amazing Bus I wish I had the money since I still don't own a home that would be my home in wheels for my family and me... I feel really reeeeally feel jealous of whoever person buy's it... would he accept payments or is it sold already?
Hi Julian,
Thanks for watching. The bus is still for sale, but I'm sorry I can't give you any information about your question on payments. You would have to call him to ask. I just posted it for him as a favor. Good Luck!
That is the other reason why it is not worth 71K since it is banks that write you a loan honey and it is doubtful any reputable would write a loan for this bus as it is too old so if 71K is too much for you then that is what it is all about. If you could get a loan you could buy a house or a condo for your family. And if you got it then she costs money to keep a 35-foot bus baby and plug her in so have your parking set before you get out over your skis.
Those infold shower doors are a hazard. If someone has a medical emergency in the shower and collapses you can’t get the door open to help them. Illegal in most states for code.
Lighten up! What are you! Jealous!
That sort of dates the conversion or one of the upgrades.
@@paullemmons3644 lol Poor baby, can't handle the truth?
do you have to have a special license to drive it
Technically, you are required to have a Class "B" Non-Commercial License for any vehicle over 26,000 pounds, which this is. However, many police officers do not know the law on this and many states do not enforce this requirement. The time it will become a problem is when you are involved in an accident. And, if there is personal injury involved, it can be a real vulnerability in a law suit. I'd be sure to cover myself.
I've seen thos aluminium panels polished to a shine, and it looks GORGEOUS. This bus would be even prettier if they did that. A couple of hours with MOP, and you have a shiny bus!
Thanks for watching! Those panels are Anodized Aluminum, which it a thin coating applied through a chemical process. If you polish them it removes the anodized coating. Once removed, the panels will quickly oxidize and look dull and tarnished. The only way to keep them shiny is to polish them on an ongoing basis, unless kept inside away from humidity. It's a lot of work to keep them shiny like that. Personally, I like the way they look especially considering they are 45 years old.

Wonder what he asking
Sorry, it's sold.
I agree it "maybe" overpriced. But keep in mind, he only needs to find 1 buyer, not 20. There may very well be someone out there that falls in love with the coach. And who has more money than brains. Keep in mind, if you wanted to recreate this bus , you would be hard pressed to source all the parts and the labor for 71K. Hence why most buy a 15K coach and spend another 20-30 making it their own. As well as this coach appears to be, it is still 45 years old and things will fail.. With all that said, its a beautiful example of a time gone by.
Thanks for watching Sarah. You are correct, except there were considerably more than one who fell in love with the bus, there were several. It has been sold and has moved to its new home in sunny FL. Thanks for watching and for your comments. If you like bus stuff, please subscribe.
