My husband was bed bound for the last six months of his life, and he passed a good amount of time watching these videos. It helped to him to step away from his illness and be able to laugh and still be the car guy that he wasn't able to be any longer. We spent a good amount of time watching these together-coming back and watching new episodes brings my husband back to me for at least a little while. Thank you for doing what you do, it matters more than you know.
So, sorry for your loss
❤
W
So sorry for your loss. May god bless and keep your family
So sorry for you loss!
These programs are better than 99% of anything they put on the TV anymore. Good wholesome American goodness.
You can add a .9 to that 99
Well, Roadworthy Rescuse does air on the Motortrend channel if you can catch it. Derek is just as solid there as he is on his RUclips channel.
I agree, shows what true dedication is . No retreat, no surrender.
So many brakes, it'll brake my mullet off.
TV is nothing but subversive anti whyte garbage
The fact that about 90% of the subscribers are supporting this channel says a lot about the content on here it's very rare that a RUclips channel that is over 30 minutes has this much support let alone one that is 2+ hours keep it up
Thank you for keeping your U Tube show real and clean .Me and my Grandsons can watch and get them interested without trying to bleep out the language . Keep on being family friendly .❤
Hey Derek! I am 17, and i just bought my first project car, a 1970 Cutlass Supreme. I just wanted to thank you for making your awesome videos! A guy had no idea where to start on an old car till about a year or two ago, when I found your channel. Got the cutlass to fire for the first time in 35ish years a few days ago.
Awesome car congrats kid
Good on you youngster! Keep at it, us older guys don't meet many your age group into classic cars and when we ( me, when I) do meet you guys it makes me feel that there's hope for the old iron after all.. keep it up and good luck!
Good for you, keep a positive attitude and good work ethic and you can accomplish just about anything. Good luck on the build
@@wildancrazy159my son is almost 17 and he loves the classics even the 20s and 30s. You'll never guess where he gets it from other than me obviously but from Playstation gaming
I owned a 1971 and a 1972 cutlass Supreme. They ride great. they are comfortable and smooth. but also can be really fast. So much more comfortable inside than the Chevelle. or Mustang or anything else from that era. Comfort and speed. My 71 had a bench seat that I. really loved I. thought I wanted bucket seats. I got a 72 but Nope. The 71 was better.
I really enjoy the fact that Derek’s “Will it Run” videos still hit the same as they always have despite his steadily increasing popularity. He’s come a long way from just fixing up a few cool old cars and parking them between trees out in the yard. Fast forward to
Today and you can even see him on cable TV car shows now, yet he stays solid and doesn’t switch up. Respect.
He always seems sincere
100% Derek and the family are a gift love watching his videos with my mother every week she gets so reminiscent of the vehicles my grand father and uncles built in the past great times. We need more solid creators on this level just purely humbled amazing people. Also the channel subs as well, car people are just absolutely amazing people imho. Does anyone know of any others I can get into in this niche? pls/thx
383's are good engines
You actually want to use the Dakota gear reduction starter from like a 95 Dakota with a 318
So does that mean if you use a 440 crank in a 400 it effectively strokes it?
I'm in the 48 percent :-) actually I remember when you made your videos in the front yard of that neighborhood you lived in and pushed broken cars around the back yard...LOL
Same. The good ol' days.
Derek, as a South African viewer, I absolutely love your road trips, seeing so much of your beautiful country. I have traveled extensively in the USA, but never seen so much more, Thank you,
honestly, its become a Saturday morning tradition for me here in Australia. Wake up, put VGG on the tv and have my coffee. Couldn't think of anything better.
Hear ya there feller. Regional SA here and lovin my Saturday binge watch session. The longerer videos are certainly hitn the spot lately.
Yip, also from South Africa, Saturday morning tradition. Mabe Derek, should come out here sometime?@Georgio80AU
Somebody in Ireland is doing that very same thing right now.😅
Same for me in Ireland, straight outta bed nip to the shop get an unhealthy breakfast and VGG
Same!
Hey Derek im sure you hear this a lot, but i really appreciate that you don't swear in your videos. While i don't mind it, it's nice to have something about cars the kids can watch with me.
👍
Agreed!
100% agreed! Sucks trying to watch a video with family around, and the presenters are dropping F's constantly, no need for it most of the time.
This, this, and this again!
I enjoy these videos - but their inherent contradictions aren't lost on me.
1) Protect chidren from swearing.
while
2) Setting an example of how not to drive safely, in safety impoverished cars that wouldn't be allowed on the roads anywhere in the world fresh off the production line..
Fuel -make-it-go...sparkolators..ice cube juice..Rad hose..whirlers...Earl..love his glossary. Derek's funny mannerisms, finger motions and positive attitude are so enjoyable. His dumbed down explanations even make a novice like myself understand the issues he faces. His auto mechanic knowledge is incredible. Top notch entertainment!
This video helped me track a wire issue on my c10 I've been trying to find for a long time. Thank you for posting!
Awesome
VGG is the ONLY extended play video I watch without skipping ahead. Great production and superb editing. We appreciate the extra effort involved in setting up cameras and explaining what's wrong and how you took care of it. You are the best! Only thing is - please slow down and enjoy some time off. Working hard is fine; just don't do it every day.
Wow, thanks!
I second this! Very well said
I third this. Derek make sure you get the family time and relaxing time in too. You got alot on your plate man. But thank you so much for the amazing entertainment as always!
I fourth this! ❤
VGG and CLEETUS HELL YEAH BROTHER
Ahhhh Saturday Morning, time for my weekly dose of VGG the American Red Green.
Derek, you've taken us along on thousands of these revivals and you never appear to lose your enthusiasm for them...and we thank you for that! We love these, and all your other videos.
I grew up in Wyoming. LOVED seeing the video of the drive. None of those doggone wooden and green things messing up the vistas. The most wood you see is snow fences.
I don't think Derek has ever come across a problem or a challenge that he didn't meet with equanimity, good humor, and a ready willingness to accept, OR one that he couldn't figure a way around in one way or another. And even if it sets him back a bit, you can always count on him to remain determined and keep his feet moving forward. Outstanding!
An engine full of seeds. I mean how do you take that 😂
The lamborwoodie...
Equa-watability?!??! Just say a guy is even keeled. A decent guy, I'd share a draft with at the local.... or even rosey....
An old boss of mine, a master Carpenter taught me, when you can't figure out a solution, do what you know, work on other things and that problem usually figures itself out. He does that on every project.
Can you imagine seeing Derek driving down the road in the pouring down rain with a tarp as the roof. The looks on peoples faces must have been priceless.
yep she'll be fine, 😂😂
Yup, that time he stopped and was talking to the camera you could clearly hear some laughing and I'm quite sure it was at the car with the blue tarp on top. 😂
I live in the UK and if I saw a bloke driving down the road in the rain with a tarp for a roof I’d probably just assume “ah Derek must be on vacation” 😂
If it were anyone else it would be odd. But for Derek, Yup
I ran into him at a gas station off I24 in Southern Illinois in that car and he tried to give me the tarp. Coolest thing that's happened to me in a year😂.
The tarp flapping had us dying lol
"Swingaaaan" has become my favorite Derekism. John Anderson would be proud
I love the longer format videos like this with less editing out. I put this on while I'm working and love to just listen to the process and the humor. I'm a gear head Soo I don't need to watch but it's almost like meditation.
Awesome, thank you!
Same here.. great comment and I think this every time he graces us with a long version of a video. Awesome!

My son was helping me out, and we were discussing purchasing your merchandise and was asking what size a shirt he wanted, he looked at me, and said mom I'm wearing it. 😂 sorry son, moms mind was else where. Such a proud moment when he stood there and showed off his VGG work shirt. Thats my young man. 😊
Happy birthday! Thanks for spending it with us!
Thanks for providing content that a guy can actually learn something from.
The fact that Derek has friends all over the country that are willing to help says a lot about him more than anything else.
it can be a 5 hours episode , i don't care, i would still watch, the longer the better !
Reminds me of the time I was 18 and owned a 58 Impala convertible in Michigan. I liked to drive with the top down - even in a snowstorm. I woke in the middle of the night to hear the pleasant sound of rain on the roof. Then leaped out of bed when I remembered the Chevy was parked outside with the top down. I ran out in the rain in my underwear to raise the top and roll up the windows. The motor for the top was bad so I had to stand on the back seat to pull it up and into place. I was a wet son of a gun! 1963
Someone should make a movie with that scene in it. Calling - Men love cars.
The things I did back in the late 60's to keep a car running.........
Probably one of the prettiest cars you have rescued. Awesome work.
Got excited when i saw what you're working on. I owned a 1965 Dodge Polara right after graduating high school in 1994. I drove the heck out of it. Brought back some great memories. Thanks!
The Bi-Polara. This one is already a certified VGG classic.
You been spoiling the hell out of us with these revival episodes. Love it brother. thank you and your family for the entertainment yall give us.
You have the world's most relaxing delivery. I'm not all that bothered about the cars, I just love listening to you.
Automagically, straight into my top 5 VGG vids 👏Well done, mate, and thanks to you and Jason 👍
Derek, what I admire most about among being a great father and American is the positivity you adhere while in the worst circumstances.
This man literally goes thru hell with a smile on his face and a cheery attitude just to keep us entertained. I take my hat off to you Derek another great video.
Agreed…working in these old ladies, you need to keep a smile on and be gentle with them….his genuine, humble approach is hard to come by on RUclips these days…which imho is a big part of the appeal and success he has worked so hard for…Good Man Himself 😃
Not that I’m looking to find a gripe, but they’re often obvious. I’ve watched loads of VGG episodes, and I’ve got nothing. They’re genuine, entertaining, informative, inspirational and sometimes outright hilarious.
Great rescue! I'm a MOPAR guy so seeing the Polara run again is a treat. I hope you get to enjoy this car for a while.
“Don’t need any boys in the yard”
Friggin’ hilarious!!!!!!! 🤣
I just acquired my grandparents’ 1964 Dodge Polara earlier this year. He bought it new, drove it 10 years and parked it for 26 years inside. Grandpa’s youngest brother bought the car from Grandma when Grandpa died, who sold it to me. Other than a carb rebuild and minor other maintenance items, the car hit the road immediately. I have fallen in love with the Polara. I was excited to see you get this 65 Polara on the road. Affordable and fun and smooth and a true time machine. We plan on taking vacations in the Polara this summer because you have inspired the wife and I to hit the road!
sounds like a great car, just check on your brakes and lines to be sure they are up to snuff and put down some miles, I love seeing the older cars out and about!
I was watching this with my wife in the room and as I was locked into Derek’s mini lecture on how push rods rotate as the cam turns, she noticed the background and said “ I never thought about using shower curtains to cover up garage shelves!” Derek your videos are truly multi-faceted and offer something for everyone. Keep up the good work! 😂
Cool that your wife watches these videos with you. Fellettes are appreciated on this channel.
Had a shower curtain to cover a basement closet, bought the house that way. Shower curtains have become multi use now 😃
@@raoulcruz4404I technically didn’t say she was watching it with me, I said she was in the same room and happened to notice the curtains…I don’t know if that counts or not!
Don’t do it, that looks tacky as all hell 😂
Is that why most of the shows' ads here of the US West Coast seems to be for famine hygiene products?
This was a great video...I LUV watching you repair these older cars...GOOD JOB
Derek is just fascinating and comforting to watch I can’t explain it!
Come on PEOPLE let’s support Derek and his amazing channel, without it we won’t be able to see him save all these beautiful going to town rigs . Keep up the great work. Cheers 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Yeah, let's push his channel to 2 million!
Derek funds some of the nicest forgotten classics I’ve ever seen. I’m glad that he is the one who is getting these cars because you know they will live a good life from here on out.
I haven’t heard the word dummy lights since they first came out in place of the gauges
@@caroled5734dummy light= check engine light
The never give up attitude is the way I was raised and I've ridden from north Dakota to Washington State and back with a blue tarp lol just as u did vice grips and duct tape might look funny but it's a win always fun Derek is the best!!!
Yeah a good life sitting in a field rotting away with the rest of his hoard.
@@JunkerDriver999 when thEy started using oil lights instead of gauges.
Happened upon this video as you started the drive home and recognized the roads and hills! I grew up in Gering, NE, on the Oregon Trail, and drove these roads all the time. Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Happy birthday!! Love your stuff, keep up the good work!
Didn't know it's your birthday so I didn't get you anything. Well I have something to give you though. I watched a video of Little Grip Garage a short while ago. Bentley was working to get a Toro lawnmower running so he could help Dad mow around the property and he was faced with a few problems. That's when Dad stepped up and assisted Bentley with advice. Dad didn't do the work he just offered advice where needed. Well a short time later that Toro started right up. Bentley was excited and couldn't wait to start mowing. Your present is the knowledge that you are one of the best Dad's I've ever seen. You didn't do the work and you didn't say, do this, do that. And you let him take credit for the success of getting that mower running. That's a great Dad/Father and I can't say that I ever did any better. My gift to you is the knowledge that you are raising one outstanding young man and giving the young man all the support he needs to develop. Good job Derek.
I too watched LVG first and I wish that I could say this better but you got it right!
That’s really well said feller. Couldn’t have said it any better myself.
Happy birthday Derek. VGG for the win.
Correction: Three outstanding young men!
I'd add that Derek is a happy man to have a son who shares a hobby with his dad, and takes advice ;-) They can both be proud.
I have 3 kiddos. My 4 year old being autistic. An i takes me all weekend to watch these longer videos. But i could not be more happier about it. Its my escape from reality derek. I appreciate what you do buddy. Plus i know my dad watches you. An we dont have the greatest bond. But we do this together.. 1 way or another
Thanks for the recent mopar revivals. Love the show. I think the Polara and Monaco instrument panel is one of the best ever designed.
Thanks for another awesome video Derek!
Really enjoy these longer videos. Gives a guy a chance to kick back a bit and hang out.
Also Happy Belated Birthday!
SWEET!!! Another "feature film" length video!!!! These absolutely make my evening. Thanks Derek!!!!
Enjoy!
@ViceGripGarage Well harpy barfday buddy! It looks like that knee is doing a bit better, that's good to see.
Ooo sounds very nice!!!!
VGG. The only channel I'll watch a 2+ or 3+ hour video and not pause 1 time. Keep up the great job Derrick!
Much appreciated
Hi Derek Iam 62 I worked on 3 of my Camaros in the early 80s a love hate thing I miss a good running small block, nice to relive it your great at making videos 😊
Hey Derrick this Dodge Polara video is great, I’ve been a lifelong Mopar fan, and your background music while driving is absolutely awesome great great job! Thank you for all your delightful videos
A guy is gonna sit back on a Friday night after a long week and enjoy the show.. Thanks Derek
With a wobble pop obviously
Or perhaps a few Wobble Pops, since I don't have anywhere to go! Stay thirsty my friends!
This is even better than clockin’ out on a Friday afternoon. Thanks Derek! 🍻
Right? I put in a 12 hr day, get home and the new episode is ready!
You bet!
Thats a bold claim, but perty near
Happy birthday 🎉
Better than clocking out? NOPE! VERY close second though!
Just checking in to let you know I’m a subscriber. You channel is one of only a few a spend my time watching. It’s like watching the TV. showed that we’re in The 70s, lots of fun and family friendly. Thank you thank you thank you. Stay safe and god bless you and your beautiful family.
1600 miles divided by 10 miles per gallon times $4 a gallon times hours spent wet...
This man is a saint for our entertainment.
Nothing better than watching a movie length episode with Derek and getting fed ads of O'Reileys auto parts..starring Derek. Avoided the skip button because of this..Marketing..on point. This guy has it figured out. Kudos sir..
Just hit 1am here in Scotland 🏴 and you know a guy is going to watch the full episode 👌🏻🥃

Midlands here about to do the same 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Hello Scotland! Saw your comment & had to reply! I've been to Scotland twice, but it was back in '89 and '91. This feller had a dead brilliant time!
I'm in Scotland too, Glasgow. Funny cuz Derek was trying to recall the name for Curling, lol.
@@yakacm I’m in Coatbridge 😂 hes superb! Best on RUclips for content 👌🏻
Great video! I absolutely love this car. Such a classic beauty. Sorry about the weather not cooperating. I can’t even imagine the noise and all the water you had to deal with. Thank you for awesome content.
Happy late birthday Derek! Thank you for all the great content. Long time viewer. I love the videos. The longer the better. I usually watch them during lunch while I’m “feeding the neck”. Thanks a lot! We appreciate you!
Ah, a long video of Derek Bieri doing a far-from-home, classic-car, revival-rescue and driving it 1600+ miles home to Tennessee to his lovely bride Jessica and his three sons...and the rescue is a classic Mopar. It's a GOOD weekend. Vice Grip Garage is the fa shizzle of RUclips automotive channels!
I love your videos !! My Mom passed in April at 85 years , your videos bring me some happiness and joy , and if Mom was still here she would most certainly agree with how you fix these wonderful old cars !! God bless you and yours !!!!
Hi from the UK. Great video, really enjoyed this one. You're one of the very few RUclipsrs that actually mentions that subscribing is free. Keep up the good work.
Just when I think I've learned or seen all I can from your educational content, you prove me wrong...for at least the 50th time. You sir are a gift to all us. Thank you so much for what you do! I certainly live vicariously through you and love every minute of it.
The way you adapt and overcome is darn impressive...this old Airman/Sgt is very impressed with your in the field skills! MOSES' SANDALS..keep doin what you're doin!
Derek you entertain so many people and in my opinion the best channel on RUclips. But please take care of yourself. Take some time to rest. You do a lot of these one into another into another. I know you are building something for your family…just…take care of yourself my man.
Well said. The same thoughts crossed my mind too.
I’m glad you’re able to endure these types of challenges! I absolutely love watching you, keep up the great work Derek!
I absolutely love this channel and have watched every episode of roadworthy rescues. Love what you do Derek, always great content. I mainly wanted to point out how cool it is that the hood on this polara is sprung like most trunk lids. Never paid enough attention to the ones ive seen to notice but a very cool, odd detail
Derek, when the wrenching gets too difficult or you want to start a new channel I think you should name it “The America I love”. It would show your travels all over America with your solid gold commentary about our culture, history and the beauty of our country.
And he needs to include his family...
@@thomastillson5742 ill bet he does but Intelligence is ecide t that he doesn't put hiq whole personal family life on here. Some things are sacred.

There needs to be an emoji with Derek's "surprised face." Absolutely perfect. Thanks for helping me change my mood VGG!
Another banger Man! Never cease to amaze me with the stuff you come up with! Dryer and Bob Barker‘s back! Can you have one of the best personalities on RUclips! I love it! Keep them coming, buddy. You’re doing a great job.
Dude you have a very unique and interesting way of making your videos, very refreshing being able to put your videos on while I'm working and just listen to you babble away, yet, be able to visualise what you are doing, I love some of the nuances too like "Lightning cube" and "Horseshoe mode" Wiring is a huge pain in the sitting equipment.
Oh that drive back, I feel for you man.
2 hours and 34 minutes just flew by, Derek. Imagine how many of us drive down the highway and see an old car strung together with bailing wire, duck-tape and shoestrings. A feller doesn't even think twice. He just looks for that VGG ball cap, and that curly mullet trailing in the wind. Just know that is Derek Bieri, Automotive Historian, rescuing another car! Thank you for that.
Not gonna lie. My favorite reason for watching is how to stay as calm as Derek does in these videos. He makes the shit look so easy at times but is real as hell when the common old car problems pop up. Just wanna keep old forgotten cars on the road.
No bullshit though, I lose my shit way before Derek ever does 👍
dang ive commented too many times but it's nice to see you've parlayed this from how you started to how it is now 1.7M views on this video and 1.92M subscribers now you just make a good living doing this ... bought a new place in tense ass EEE and etc congrats
Happy Birthday Derek, thank you for doing what you do!!! Awesome channel, well done!!!
New Vice Grip Garage video? 2 hours +? A run and drive video. Oh hell yeah. I've been binge watching all your older videos these last few days. I can't get enough of these. You rock Derek!
I've been wet and miserable a long way from home. This video got me in the feels.

This is the only channel I get excited to watch, full-length movies on, no joke, and no skipping, though really every moment is worth watching. Cherish this man because it will be a sad day when the videos stop. ❤ to you and your family
i hope you got through the bouts of storms that came through tn ok and didnt have any damage to your home . i know a bout a week back i had a tornado pass less then a mile from where i work wile i was at work . keep up the wonderful work and stay safe out there .
Amazing! I’ve said it before, but THIS is my new favorite! Thank you for the inspiring videos.
Derek is obviously a top quality human, a man with integrity. He always expresses his gratitude. I believe the people he encounters are good to him because he is good to others. I greatly appreciate the time and effort he puts into his videos. Yes, he’s making a good living at what he’s doing, but he’s sacrificing a lot. I hope I’m still sucking wind when “the youngest human he’s responsible for” starts carrying the big torch. Blessings to you and yours sir. Oh yeah, that’s one good looking ride. When do you have time for a hair cut? Long haired freaky people tend to be my favorites

As a guy who daily drove a 1965 Red on Red Valiant Formula S Commando Barracuda, for eleven years, and learned to drive in a 1966 C10, with three-on-the-tree, this really brought me back to better times.
One sweet sled ya got there, Derick. Thank you for sharing, mate.
I bought one from under a tree that had sat for 20 years. It was a 62 with a 318 poly. It took about an hour to get it running, and I drove it home. Great car!Best 200 bucks I ever spent.
I had a 64, 330 2 door with typewriter shifter, loved that car

Happy birthday Derek thanks for putting out some amazing content especially on your birthday keep it up 🎉
Happy birthday my guy. Hope you had a great day. Greetings from Ireland, been a fan for many years now
Happy Birthday Derek!! Would love to see a Ford Falcon episode if you ever run across one. My dad rebuilt one when I was a young kid. We took a family trip from Texas to Colorado and dad gave me my first taste of speed. Mom shut him down almost right away, but I remember getting to 85 mph. My brother and I were in the back cheering him on.:)
Happy Birthday Derek
No one can ever say he’s not committed to his content. This thing fought you all the way…. Way to go Derek.
Loving your work, You made light of trading suitcases out and seeing the family for 8 minutes. Gave me a well needed lump in my back neck and a little increased eye ball lubrication. Nice one
Your channel just keeps getting better and better
